Following DeWitt’s retirement in 1981, they moved to Arden, followed later by a move to Kettle Falls. It was in 1995, shortly after moving to Chewelah, that DeWitt passed away. Betty then came to Colville, where she has resided since.
Betty enjoyed gardening, knitting and baking. She was an avid reader. She and DeWitt had a passion for the ocean, often wintering on the Washington coast. She loved to take long walks on the beach with DeWitt, searching for lighthouses, sand dollars, driftwood and other beach treasures.
Betty always cherished her English heritage and a love of gardening. While in Newport, Betty frequently worked at the county fair and election booths and belonged to the local grange. In Stevens County, she volunteered at the Stevens County Keller Heritage Center and Habitat for Humanity.
