Weldon 'Pat' Lawrence Morgan, age 92, a resident of Colville, passed away on Jan. 20, 2011 in Colville. He was born on March 22, 1918 in Jamestown, North Dakota, the son of Lawrence Weldon and Nettie (Walters) Morgan.
Pat left school at the age of 14, following the death of his mother, to find work. His first employer nick named him 'Pat' and the name has since followed him. Pat married Florence Biehl on July 28, 1939 in Backus, MN. Pat and Florence had two children, Patricia L. and Gerald 'Jerry' P. Morgan.
Jerry passed away in 1997 and Pat often reminisced of their hunting and fishing trips together and how he missed his son. Pat also said goodbye to his wife, Florence, the following year with her passing in 1998.
Throughout his life, Pat, had many jobs, 'climbing the ladder in the newspaper business.'
In 1937, Pat went to work for Northern Minnesota Publishing Co. Five years later, he continued to progress through the ranks, first at the Republican Newspaper in Akin, MN and then for the Bemidji-Northland Times in Bemidji, MN.

Following the loss of his wife, Florence, Pat was alone for two years. He then met Bunny Burcham Bailey and they were wed on Aug. 16, 2000. They had a ball together, enjoying music, dancing and sharing a wonderful belief of God’s blessings. His love of music began in childhood from listening to his mother sing, 'Whispering Hope.' One of Pat’s favorites was 'I Love You Because You are You.'
Pat loved to 'do for others' and this showed with his 14 years in volunteer service as a driver for Catholic Charities. He had an amazing sense of humor and laughed constantly. Pat loved people, and in turn, he was loved by his family and friends.

We offer a silent prayer for departed shipmates who are now serving on the staff of the Supreme Commander.
