Frances “Fran” Bruneau
July 21, 1922 - June 26, 2015

Frances “Fran” Bruneau’s vibrant life full of love ended on June 26, 2015, in Mesa, Ariz. She lived 92 years, touching the lives of many by sharing her loving and open spirit with her family and friends.

Fran was born in Portland, Ore. on July 21, 1922, to Charles Yost and Esther (Beals) Yost, both who passed away when Fran was just a small child. Adopted and raised by her grandmother, Martha Beals (deceased) Fran discovered early on, her love for animals, nature, growing plants, and an insatiable inquisitive nature.

Fran lived most of her life in the Portland area, but traveled often as a young woman, finding adventure wherever she landed. Living in New York as a young woman provided her with many stories to share later in life. Fran’s talents and work varied from bookkeeping to working in a craft store throughout her life, and came in handy many times when serving as the wife of a Pastor!

Fran met Reverend Archie Bruneau when she was working as a waitress in Beaverton, Ore. Archie was the one customer who “just happened” to always be hungry during Fran’s work shift. When he finally had the gumption to invite her to dinner, she said, “yes!” and the rest is history. Before Archie passed away in 2004, they celebrated their 29th Anniversary, with Archie still amazed that he had been blessed to spend so many years with this wonderful woman.

After Archie’s passing, Fran continued to work with the leadership and families at North River Community Church, sharing her passion for God’s love. Fran was always ready with an ear, a shoulder, and a hug to anyone in need. She was the adopted mother, grandmother and confidant to many over the years.

Fran moved from North River to Phoenix, Ariz. in 2008 to be closer to her daughter and enjoy desert life! Fran had a passion for flowers - even the desert cactus - and spent many of her last days “playing in the dirt.”

Fran was a loving mother to her daughters Marla Almeida, Dana Scott, the late Jane Brown and Paula Hansen, who preceded Fran in death, as well as a wonderful step-mother to Janet (Bruneau) Kane and Darrell Bruneau. She was a grandmother to nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of who will miss her dearly.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, in the North River Community Church, 1521 N River Rd., Vesta, Wash.
