Arnie enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, and he particularly enjoyed car racing. He even drove a race car for some time. He also enjoyed swiming and watching wildlife. Arnie served in the U.S. Army. He lived all his life in the Spokane area. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rachel Lamb. Norma "Jeri" Lee Moddrell age 79 of Valley, WA died on Saturday, May 29, 1999 at Chewelah, WA and was born on September 15, 1919 at Los Angeles, CA. Survivors include Husband, Richard Moddrell Valley, WA; Son, Carl Moddrell, Bozeman, MT; Grand daughter, Denise Palmer Vail, OR; 2 great grandchildren, Several nieces & nephews. Jeri and Richard moved to the Valley area 10 years ago. She enjoyed crochet. Jeri worked as a waitress throughout her working life.. Morrell, Lawrence Reed

Lawrence Reed Morrell age 87 of Springdale, WA died on Tuesday, June 22, 1999 at Colville, WA and was born on April 9, 1912 at Forrest Center, WA. Survivors include Wife, June Morrell Springdale, WA; Daughter, Janice Morrell, Springdale, WA; Grandson Mathew & wife Kristi Morrell Spokane, WA; Great Grand daughter, Alicea Morrell Spokane, WA; Great Grandson Andrew Morrell Spokane, WA; Great Grandson Jacob Morrell Spokane, WA. Lawrence dairy farmed in the Springdale area for 44 years. He retired at age 62. He was a member of the Springdale Community Church. Lawrence built a model T ford from the ground up. He enjoyed children. Lawrence and June were married 52 years on the date of his death. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Denise Morrell in 1955. Roy Harrison Meadows age 82 of Chewelah, WA died on Tuesday, December 28, 1999 at Chewelah, WA and was born on March 21, 1917 at Oroville, WA. Survivors include Wife, Myrtle Meadows Chewelah, WA; Son, Richard & wife Linda Meadows, Chewelah, WA; Son, David & wife Susan Meadows, Colville, WA; Son, Ronald & wife Debra Meadows, Chewelah, WA; Daughter, Barbara & husband Duane Gates Colville, WA; Sister Dorothy & husband Arden Clemetson Walla Walla, WA . Several nieces and nephews, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Roy came to Chewelah in 1947 after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for Northwest Magnesite at Chewelah for many years until it closed down.. She worked at the Valley Grade School for many years. Helen and her husband have been married for 36 years. Helen was a grandmother to all.. Richard served in the US Navy during WWll. He retired from the railroad. Richard was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW. McClain, Ethel C.

Ethel "Richardson" C. McClain age 85 of Chewelah, WA died on Saturday, June 24, 2000 at Chewelah, WA and was born on June 14, 1915 at Ferry County, WA. Survivors include, Son, Lester & wife Norma Richardson Phoenix, AZ Daughter, Ramona & husband Bob Clavel Wheaton, IL Daughter, Bonnie & husband Bud Rail Chewelah, WA; Brother, Henry J. Michael Chewelah, WA; Brother, William O. Michael Kettle Falls, WA; Sister Reeda Foster Puyallup, WA; Sister Minnie Koski Smelterville, ID., Step daughter Eva & husband Rudy Rainer, numerous nieces & nephews, 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Ethel was one of twelve children born to Henry C. and Cora (Reed) Michael. She worked in food service for the Chewelah School District for over 25 years and served more than one generation of children as well as providing child care through out the community. Ethel was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Chewelah United Church of Christ. She enjoyed card playing, visiting at the Long Term Care Center at Chewelah, and helping here and there at Sunny Acres apts. where she resided. She was known to her 16 great grandchildren as G.G. Her smile and laughter will be missed through out the community. Ethel was preceded in death by her husbands, E. Blaine Richardson and Elmer McClain, and one son Melvin Richardson. .....You give but little when you give up your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. Kahlil Gibran. McKeehan, Forrest O.

Forrest O. McKeehan age 93 of Chewelah, WA died on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 at Colville, WA and was born on July 24, 1907 at Kayford, WV. Survivors include Wife, Mary McKeehan Chewelah, WA; Son, James B. & wife Kathy McKeehan Klamath Falls, OR Daughter, Carol & husband Barry Tindal Chewelah, WA; 5 grandchildren 5 great-grandchildren. Forrest served as a Naval air officer during World War II with Fleet Air Wing 16 in the South Atlantic. He married Mary Strong June 24, 1944 at Cambridge, Massachusetts. Forrest was an educator for over 40 years, retiring from the Chewelah School District #36. Forrest was preceded in death by one daughter, Betsy Reese.. Funeral service will be held at Schanzenbach Funeral Home, Saturday, September 16, 2000, 11:00 AM at with Pastor Donald Swanson and American Legion Post #54 officiating. Nack, Robert Carl

Robert "Bob" Carl Nack age 78 of Spokane, WA died on Saturday, July 24, 1999 at Spokane, WA and was born on February 9, 1921 at Hood River, OR. Survivors include Son, Kevin Nack Renton, WA; Son, Kim Nack Florissant, MO Daughter, Carole Fredekind Post Falls, ID Daughter, Laurie Stokes Tacoma, WA . Numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins, and 13 grandchildren. Robert's parents were Walter & Julia Johnson Nack. He was raised on the family farm in Hood River. Robert attended all 12 years of school there, graduating from Hood River High School in 1939. He then attended OSU at Corvalis, OR. After the outbreak of WW II, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and became a B-24 pilot. He flew 30 combat missions over Germany during WW II. In 1945 he married Jane Benson of Los Angeles. After he left the service he worked for several construction engineering jobs, then moved to Butte, MT to attend Montana School of Mines. Robert rejoined the Air Force at the outbreak of the Berlin Airlift, & stayed on active duty for another 20 years as a pilot, navigator & intelligence officer. He attained the rank of Lt. Col. Robert retired from the service in 1967 & settled at Mountain Home, ID, where he had a farm of alfalfa & horses. in 1974 they moved to Parkdale, OR & had a 20 acre pear orchard. Due to health reasons, he had to give up the farm and moved to Chewelah in 1983 to be near his children. In 1997 he moved to Spokane. Robert enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, & being with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, parents, brothers Harold & Albert Nack; Sisters, Dorothy Nac, & Esther Nack.. Funeral service will be held at Schanzenbach Funeral Home, Thursday, July 29, 1999, 1:00 PM at Chewelah, Washington with Pastor Steve Brehmer officiating. After raising her children, she devoted her life to others. She was a nurse's aid for many years, then a volunteer in the community after her retirement.
