Clarence G. Guimond, Sr.
1917 - 1998 Though this is a time of mourning, it is also a time of joy. Our beloved father tried to be strong after our mother, Frances Mary, passed away 8 years ago due to cancer. Whenever you said "Clare" you needed to say "Fran". She was his joy and together they celebrated 50 years of married life. They will now be together with our Lord and share His love. Born of French ancestry in Iron River, Wisconsin, on November 25, 1917, he was the youngest of 12 children. He grew up in a warm, loving, fun-filled family and carried over that spirit to his own family life. He was generous of nature and kind of heart. He modeled hard work and decent values, treating all people with respect and dignity that was their due. He was simply "a true gentleman". An accomplished, self-taught musician, he played guitar professionally in his youth. He also played the organ and banjo. His natural musical talent, wit and charm delighted and enriched many gatherings of family and friends. He loved the simple things of life. He appreciated the beauty of the outdoors and was especially fond of horses and dogs. After serving in World War II as a tank driver, he worked on the railroad, which led to his move to Washington state in the late 1940's. He was a member of the Millmen's Union and worked locally at Puget Sound Manufacturing until his retirement. He is survived by his three children, Clarence (Bud) Guimond, Jr., Mary Jo (Guimond) Butschky, and Terry J. Guimond, who all live in the area with their families. He leaves a legacy of 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family of "kissing cousins". We are proud of our father, both in the dignity he exemplified in his life and the courage he displayed at life's end. He will be missed, but not forgotten! Family suggests memorials to Francis House "Hot Meal" Program, 322 7th St. SE, Puyallup, 98372. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, 11:30 am at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Piper-Morley-Mellinger Funeral Directors, 472-3353.
