"Went To Heaven"
Gladys E. Beitz went to heaven June 23, 1998 in Tacoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Beitz. Survivors include her brother, Chester (Juanita) Bledsoe; niece Elizabeth Bonner; nephew Gary Bledsoe; great-nephew Jack Bonner; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 1998 in the Mt. View Garden Chapel. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home, 584-0252.

James M. Mozel
Jim Mozel, 57, of Tacoma, passed away June 21, 1998 at home. He graduated from Lincoln High School and Bates Technical Collage, earning a degree in Data Processing, and worked for the Port of Tacoma for 20 years as a programer analyst. Jim was a member of the Cadillac-LaSalle Club and a proud owner of a 1938 LaSalle Coupe. He was a left handed pitcher while playing Youth Baseball and was an avid Mariners fan. As a teenager he was a member of Civil Air Patrol and went on to join the Marine Corps Air Wing, where he served as a mechanic. He maintained a lifelong love of aviation. Jim enjoyed the love and support of many family members, friends and co-workers throughout his illness. The family would like to express their appreciation to Franciscan Hospice. Survivors include his loving wife, Juliana; brother Donald (Dolly) Mozel, Olympia; sister Patricia (Jo Gus) Turner, Portland, OR; two children, Danny Monteverde of Memphis, TN, and Allison Harris of Riverside, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, and six grandchildren. Memorial services will be 11:00am Thursday, June 25, 1998 in the Mt. View Garden Chapel. Inurnment will be in Mt. View Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1551 Broadway #200, Tacoma, WA 98402; or the American Lung Assoc., 2625 3rd Ave., Seattle, WA 98121. Jason Charles Webber
Jason Charles Webber, born January 21, 1979, an inspiration and source of joy to all who knew and loved him, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998. Jason is survived by his daughter, Cherrie Lorraine; his parents, Tom Webber, Toni Mothe (Pruitt), and stepfather Chris Mothe; grandparents Norman and Doris Webber, Harold and Gladys Pruitt, Arne and Wendy Mothe; great-grandparents Cornelius and Ruth Hall, Alma Carter, Ethel Brigden; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2308 So. Cushman. Graveside Service will follow at 3:30 PM at Mt. View Memorial Park, ALL ON SATURDAY, June 27, 1998. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a trust fund for his daughter, Cherrie Evans Webber, at any Key Bank. Jason was a caring, loving, thoughtful person with a heart big enough for everyone and a smile that melted all. He will be greatly missed. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home. 584-0252.

Jewel Brooks (J.B.) Rainey
Jewel Rainey, a 27 year resident of Spanaway, passed peacefully in his home on June 21 after a twelve year battle with cancer. He was born in Paris, Texas on January 21, 1918. A 47 year member of the local Ironworkers Union #114, he took pride in the many projects that he worked on during the course of his life. His quick wit and love of life leave us with fond and happy memories of the time that we shared. Jewel is survived by his sons, Jim Rainey of Merced, Ca.; Jerry Rainey of Anaheim, Richard Rainey of Denver, CO., David Rainey of Renton, and Cleve Rainey of Spanaway,and his daughter, Mary Maltman of Spanaway; a brother and two sisters residing in Texas; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Rainey. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 27th at Fir Lane Memorial Park, with a private memorial gathering afterward. Viewing will be held on Friday, June 26th from 9:00-5:30 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Fir Lane Funeral Home.

Juanita Aylesworth
Juanita Aylesworth, 77, born Dec. 7, 1920 in Kentucky, died June 20, 1998 in Tacoma, WA. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edward Aylesworth; her daughter and beloved son-in-law, Phylliss and Dave Rose; five grandchildren, Kenneth Young Jr., Edward Young, Bradley Butler and Terry Rose; and six great grandchildren. Of all the things in her life, Juanita enjoyed dancing more than anything. One of her greatest thrills was dancing on the stage with Donald O'Connor in Las Vegas. Swimming was one of her favorite pastimes. She earned 20 fifty mile swimming badges. She was a former volunteer in helping handicapped children learn to swim at the YWCA. Snow skiing and water skiing was also part of her life. She was a member of Totem Skiers for 37 years and a member of Tacoma Outboard Association for 41 years. Recently, she became a proud member of the Tacoma Elks. She looked forward to attending the meetings and greatly enjoyed the many friends she met there. Services will be 1:00 PM in the Garden Chapel, Saturday, June 27, 1998, Mt. View Funeral Home.

Keith Van Bevers
Keith Van Bevers, born 4-16-13 in Tacoma, died 6-17-98. Parents, Robert and Myrtle Van Bevers. Preceded in death by his previous wife, Marcia, his parents, brother Richard Van Bevers, and daughter Karen DeMars. He is survived by wife Bessie (Taft); daughters Carol Phillips (Mike), and Janet White; son-in-law Terry DeMars; and six grandchildren, Brenda Bellaire (Dan), Peter Phillips, Paul White, Steve White (Carrie), Dorene DeMars and Terra DeMars. He is also survived by stepchildren Kenneth Duke and Pamela Duke, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Keith retired from Pierce County Public Works as Accounting Supervisor in 1976. Member of AFSCAM Union, long time member of Tacoma Yacht Club, life member of Tacoma Elks Lodge #174, life Master in American Bridge League. A memorial service will be held at the Tacoma Elks Lodge on Saturday, June 27 at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Franciscan Hospice, PO Box 2197, Tacoma, WA 98401. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Hospice and Manorcare Health Service for the loving care Keith was given.

Lawrence (Larry) N. Lommel
Lawrence (Larry) N. Lommel of Federal Way was born April 8, 1911 in Kimball, MN. and passed from this life on June 20, 1998. Born and raised in the Roman Catholic church, Larry attended parochial schools in Luxemburg, MN. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in 1942 and served in the South Pacific. He was discharged as a corporal in 1946. Upon returning home, he became a bricklayer and practiced his trade until his retirement in 1975. He was recently honored for being a 50-year member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers through Local 1. While working in Sioux Falls, SD., Larry met and, in 1950, married Lois Bates Schmidt. His work took them to Texas, Minnesota, and finally to the Tacoma/Milton area in 1968. Until overtaken by blindness in his later years, he was an avid fisherman, hunter, and bowler. He greatly enjoyed watching, and then listening to, football, basketball, and especially baseball games, as well as camping and frequent family gatherings. Larry is survived by his wife, Lois; step;-daughters, Janice Olson and Susan Florence of Federal Way, and his brother Dominic of St. Cloud, MN.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters. A Memorial Mass will be held in the small chapel at St. Vincent De Paul Parish in Federal Way at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 26. Committal service will be the following week at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. The family suggests memorials to Washington Talking Book and Braille Library, 821 Lenora, Seattle, WA. 98129.

Mariel "Tomi" Lind
This is the obituary I never wanted to write, the obituary I never wanted to live to tell. Tomi died on June 17, 1998. I lost the sunshine and roses, the laughter in our home. I lost the smile that lit up my life. She had gorgeous brown eyes and they were merry all the time, and they looked at you with trust and happiness. She never told a lie in her life; deceit puzzled her. She loved babies and children. Tomi was born in Anthon, Iowa, on Oct. 2, 1930. She attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, IA. Tomi and I were married on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1953. She is survived by six sons: Don and Mary Lind, Dana Point, CA; Dave Lind, Lake Elisnore, CA; Steve and Lesley Lind, Huntington Beach, CA; Mike and Terry Lind, Laguna Niguel, CA; Kurt and Cherrae Lind, Placentia, CA; T.R. and Michelle Lind, Chino Hills, CA; 2 granddaughters and 6 grandsons; and her husband, Don E. Lind, Longbranch, WA. She devoted her life to being a homemaker, a loving wife and mother. At Tomi's request, private family services were held.

Mollie B. Kaiser
Mollie B. Kaiser, 90, died Friday, June 19, 1998 at Roo Lan Healthcare Center, Lacey. Mrs. Kaiser had lived in Tacoma from 1941 to 1990 when she moved to Olympia to be closer to her daughter. Mrs. Kaiser had worked as a Dietician at Madigan Army Hospital for many years. She had also worked for Harmons Furniture, Fisher's Department Store and as an Electrician for Tacoma Shipyards during World War Two. She is survived by her daughter, Dolores Flahaut, Olympia; 1 brother; 6 sisters; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. Funeral services will begin Friday, June 26, 1998 at 11:00 AM, Olympic Funeral Home and Gardens, 5725 Littlerock Road SW, Tumwater. Arrangements by Olympic Funeral Home.

Roger Eugene Enquist
Roger Enquist, 63, was born in Sissiton, SD. He passed away June 20, 1998 in Tacoma. He attended school in Walla Walla before joining the Navy in 1952. Roger was employed as an auto mechanic with Mallon Ford from 1961 until his death. Roger is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cleo; sons Jerry, Rod and Darvin; daughters Carrie and Tary; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; brother Floyd and Gary. He was preceded in death by parents Del and Sarah, and sister Janice. Viewing will be Wednesday, June 25, from 9am until 9pm. Funeral Service will be held 3:00pm Thursday, June 26, 1998 in the Mt. Susan Ramsdell
Susan Ramsdell, 51, died Sunday June 21, 1998. Born in Norway she was a resident of Anderson Island and lived in the Tacoma area most of her life. She worked many years as a bookkeeper for local nursing homes. Survived by her husband, Mike; parents, Bjarne and Anna Wick; daughters, Konnie Jensen, Tricia Hedlund, Linda Ramsdell and Mariah Ramsdell; sons, John Jensen and Thomas Ayers; brother, Magne Wick; sister, Sonja Sortland; and 5 grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Friday June 26, 1998 in the Evergreen Chapel at 2:00 P.M. in New Tacoma Cemetery. Also a Memorial Service on Sunday at 3:00 P.M. on Anderson Island beach. She was fun to share life with, she touched the hearts and lives of everyone she met and brought a unique joy to this earth that will be missed by all. Friends may contact Mike at 253-884-9115.
