Milo Mortenson
Milo Mortenson, born July 23, 1911 in Tioga, ND to Christian and Josephine Mortenson, went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2001. He came to Milton in 1942 and was the owner of Acme Painters until his retirement in 1973. He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth, and brothers Elgin and Cledith Mortenson. He is survived by sons Don (Kate), Spokane, WA; Bob (Kathie), Puyallup, WA; daughter Angie Metzger (John), Tacoma, WA; grandchildren Erika Matunis, Aron and Eric Mortenson; Rick, Darren and Michelle Metzger; Kerrie Hansen; Karla Mortenson; brother Maylen Mortenson (LaVern), Great Falls, MT; sister Harriette Sanderson, Tioga, ND; sisters-in- law Jeanette Mortenson, Tioga, ND; Vi Mortenson, Williston, ND; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Saturday, September 15, 2001 in the Mt. View Garden Chapel. Viewing will be Friday, 11:00am-9:00pm. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home, 584-0252.

Murray E. Fulton “Coke”
Murray E. Fulton, “Coke”, born December 6, 1929 in Tacoma, passed away September 10, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn A. Fulton, son Gene M. Fulton, daughter Laurie Bradley; sister Kathryn Caughey, grandchildren Coby, Paige and Andrea. Murray was hardworking, honest and a true friend. He always gave of himself. He loved to fish. Visitation will be held Friday, September 14 from 4-8 p.m. at Tuell- McKee Funeral Home, 2215 Sixth Ave. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Private interment will follow Monday at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent. The family would like to thank Dr. Frank Senecal and his staff and Franciscan Hospice for their loving care. Shirley B. Capps
Shirley B. Capps, 86, of Gig Harbor, born November 9, 1914 in Sioux Falls, SD, passed away September 9, 2001 in Gig Harbor. Her husband, George E. Capps, Jr., preceded her in death. Shirley loved playing bingo at the Federal Way Senior Center, camping with her husband and crocheting for her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (David) Kamberger; brothers Robert (Janet) Almont, George Almont, Charles Almont, Frank (Edna) Almont, Donald Almont; sisters Donna (Dick) Upton, Dorothy (Richard) Bell, Lois (Robert) Webb, Jane (Mel) Johnson, Betty (Tom) Beck, Phillis (Don) Ryan, Karen (Aaron) Weiss; grandchildren Ryan (Ryan) Groves, Lindsay Kamberger, Tanya (Ron) Vaughn, Tim Capps, Bryan (Kaelen) Sawyer, Andy Sawyer, Julie Sawyer and Kenny Sawyer; and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation is 3:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, Sept. 13 at Yahn & Son Funeral Home in Auburn. Graveside service 2:00 pm, Friday, Sept. 14 at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn. Gary Lee Seablom
Age 58, born December 1, 1942 in Seattle, WA. Died September 5, 2001 in Skagway, AK. Gary lived his life to the fullest. His father preceded him in death. Gary is survived by his loving wife, Sue of Milton, WA; mother, Ann Seablom of Seattle, WA; brother, Seth H. Seablom of Seattle, WA; daughter, Lisa Williams of Kent, WA; son, Eric Seablom of Bonney Lake, WA; stepson, Keith Clark of Milton, WA. He also leaves five grandchildren. Visitation: Wed, Thurs, Fri from 12-8pm at Bonney Watson Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 16445 International Blvd, SeaTac. Memorial: Fri 9am at Calvary Community Church, 15116 Gary St E, Sumner.

Albert "Hynie" Forest Austin
Albert "Hynie" Austin passed away on September 8, 2001, at home in Olympia after a long illness. He was born in Ericson, Nebraska on June 7, 1915 to Forest and Ona Austin. He served three years in the Army during World War II. He married Ella Mae Hilliard and they had 60 years of happiness together. They have two children, son Dennis and daughter Cheryl. They lived in Moses Lake for over a total of 39 years, and moved to Olympia to be near family in 1999. Hynie retired as foreman from J.M. Martinac Shipbuilding in 1978. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Hynie was a wonderful family man and loved hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling with his family. He leaves Ella Mae, Dennis Austin (Dora) of Lacey, Cheryl Webster (Gary) of Puyallup; grandchildren Cari (Webster) Kovats (Mark) of Bothell, John Austin of Honolulu, Hawaii, Chad Webster (Nichole) of Spokane; great grandson Cameron Kovats; sisters Mary Hubbard of Kalispell, Montana and Gladys Bauermeister of Tacoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends whom he cared for deeply. He was preceded in death by twin sister Alberta and brother George. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Hospice, 3706 Griffin Ln. SE, Olympia, WA 98501, or to the American Cancer Society, 1-800- ACS-2345.

Leon R. Kolbas, Sr.
Born in St. Paul, MN, June 10, 1925. passed away on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001. Leon honorably served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate from 1943 - 1964. Then he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 24 years. After retirement, the delights of Leon’s life were his kids, golf, darts, bowling and the craps table in Reno. Preceded in death by his parents Sophie and Frank Kolbas; first wife Mary Ann; daughter Linda Jean; son Michael; and sisters Helen and Irene. Survived by second wife Mavis Kolbas; sisters Gen and Phyllis; brother Joe; children LeeAnne Greenhouse, Ralph, James, John and Patrick (Candace) Kolbas; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Please join us in a celebration of Leon’s life at the Eagles #3 Lodge, 4810 S. Tacoma Way, Thursday, Sept. 13, starting at 3 PM. Viewing 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, and 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Dryer Mortuary, Parkland, WA. Graveside following at Fir Lane Memorial Park, Spanaway.

William Robert Grip
Born May 21, 1914 in Duluth, Minnesota, William R. Grip,”Bill”, passed away on September 1, 2001 at age 87. He was predeceased by wife Gertrude and son Gary. After years of work in Alaska, Bill became a long-time resident of Tacoma and worked in the Real Estate business. He was proud of his 60 year voting record and his Norwegian heritage. Photography was a lifelong passion. Bill is survived by granddaugther Kim Evans (Mark) of Florida and great-grandson Justin, grandson Jason, brother Don Swanson of Shelton and 2 sisters Tommie Williamson of Renton and Corinne Birnel (Earl) of Fircrest and numerous nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to Freda Noben of Tacoma for her loving, caring devotion to Bill during his lengthy illness. Bill was laid to rest at New Tacoma Cemetery.

April Anne Nunes
Born to David and Diane Nunes on Jan. 23, 1984, beloved sister of Raphael and Gabriel, passed into the hands of our Lord on Sept. 7, 2001. April achieved many accomplishments in her young life. She touched all who knew her with her beauty, wit, charm and compassion. An honor student at Henry Foss High School, April was recipient of the 2000 Latina Student of The Year and many athletic awards. She was extremely committed to sports. April was also known for her helpfulness, kindness and caring ways. She left a positive, lasting impression on those who knew her. We will all miss her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the athletic program of your choice, or the April Nunes Memorial Fund at any Columbia Bank. The Rosary will be recited 7:00pm (this evening) at Visitation Catholic church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00am Wednesday at the church. Janet was preceded in death by her husband Bernard and a daughter Kathy Brenno. She is survived by: daughter, Eileen (Gary) Bennett, Loma, MT; sons, Duane (Micki), Port Orchard; Bernie, Tacoma; and Marty (Janice), Tacoma; brother, Bill Gronenthal, Tacoma; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 13, 2001, 1:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery. Viewing at the funeral home Wednesday from Noon until 8:30 PM. Leona Theresa Bonnell
Leona T. Ludorf Bonnell, 79, a Tacoma resident for the past 2 years, died September 10, 2001. Leona was born and raised in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania and also lived in Dallas, Texas for 36 years. She served in WWII in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps and worked as a Registered Nurse in Dallas until her retirement. Leona enjoyed oil painting, card playing and bingo. Leona is survived by her son Jeff and his family of University Place, Washington; sister, Dorothy Lukachek of Dallas, TX; brother Richard Ludorf of Fairfield, CT; and several nieces and nepehws. Services were held at Haven of Rest Memorial Park, Gig Harbor.
