Edna R. Palmer, 91, of Yakima died Tuesday at Heritage Grove Care Center.

Mrs. Palmer was born in Linton, N.D., and moved to Yakima in 1937. She worked in fruit packing warehouses for several years, then was a housekeeper in private homes in Yakima.

Survivors include one son, Robert E. Tanner of Yakima.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Shaw and Sons Memorial Chapel, with concluding services immediately following at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Joseph Raymond Dixon
Announcement dated April 04, 2004
Joseph Raymond Dixon, 92, of Yakima died Wednesday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Dixon was born in Almira, Wash., and worked for the state cleaning irrigation ditches.

He is survived by two nieces and two grandnieces.

At his request, there will be no services. Keith and Keith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Irene H. Zook

Irene H. Zook, 91, of Yakima died Friday at Summitview Healthcare Center.

She was born in Seattle and moved to Yakima in 1951, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Wrights Music Store, Snokist Growers, Carrol High School and the Yakima Herald-Republic.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Goebel of Yakima; a son, Jim Zook of Beaverton, Ore.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday with memorial services at 1:30 p.m. at the Terrace Heights Chapel.

Valley Hills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marie Y. Trudeau
Announcement dated April 04, 2004
Marie Y. Trudeau, 90, of Yakima died Friday at Summitview Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Trudeau was born in Red Lake Falls, Minn., and later moved to Yakima, where she worked in hops and fruit production and managed the kitchen at St. Joseph/Marquette School.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Trudeau of Yakima; three daughters, Delores Hartman and Sherry Sherbahn, both of Yakima, and Joyce Flynn of South Prairie, Wash.; a sister, Agnes La Berge of Yakima; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A 2 p.m. mass will be Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial following at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Robert Orlando Sutton

Robert Orlando Sutton, 77, of Sunnyside died Saturday at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Sunnyside.

Mr. Sutton was born in Amarillo, Texas, and moved to Sunnyside in the 1940s.

He served in the Army during World War II, worked for the Sunnyside Cannery and retired from Totem Sales in 1990.

Survivors include his wife, Catalina Sutton of Sunnyside; one son, Thomas Sutton of Grandview; two daughters, Erlinda Soliman and Herminia, both of Sunnyside; one brother, Donald Sutton of Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.

Viewing will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside.

Burial will be in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.

Jim Hinrichs

Jim Hinrichs, 75, of Yakima died Friday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Hinrichs was born in Trail, B.C., Canada, and later moved with his family to Yakima.

He worked for the Country Store Shopping Center and later became the owner of both the clothing and furniture departments.

He is survived by his mother, Marie Hinrichs; two daughters, Chris and Carol; a sister, Kathlene Ogard of Portland; a brother, Lowell of Sooke, B.C.

A graveside service will be at noon Friday at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, followed by a 1 p.m. memorial service at Central Lutheran Church.

Floyd Bryant Metcalf

Floyd Bryant Metcalf, 57, of Yakima died Friday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

Mr. Metcalf was born in Yakima and graduated from Davis High School. He attended Yakima Valley Community College and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include one sister, Brenda Bonner of Camano Island, Wash. and one brother, Drew Metcalf of Tucson, Ariz.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at Ward Chapel of First Presbyterian Church. Keith and Keith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

David Earl Hileman
Announcement dated August 11, 2004
David Earl Hileman, 59, of Prosser died Saturday.

Mr. Hileman was born and raised in Prosser. At 17 he joined the U.S. Navy and served six years as a submariner. He later moved to Colorado and became an electrician. In 1974 he returned to Prosser, where he farmed cherries.

Survivors include his father, George Hileman; two daughters, Kristin Herion of Prosser and Katie Gonzalez of Benton City; two brothers, Dan of Prosser and Jim of Poulsbo, Wash.; and one sister, Kathy Lewis of Prosser.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at 68703 W. Ferry Road, Prosser.

Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, is in charge of arrangements.

James Romey 'J.R.' Brummet Jr.
Announcement dated August 11, 2004
James Romey "J.R." Brummet Jr., 31, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Saturday.

Mr. Brummet was born in Yakima, graduated from Goldendale High School and moved to Colorado in 2001.

Survivors include his wife, Shelly Lyn (Thompson) Brummet of Crestview, Fla.; three children, Elizabeth Anne Brummet, James Romey Brummet III, and Johnathan Daniel Brummet, all of Crestview; his parents, Diana Kay (McConnell) Brummet and James Romey "Jim" Brummet of Yakima; and two grandparents, James and Roberta McConnell.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 19 at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. Tribute service will be 1 p.m. Aug. 20 at Yakima Bible Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Margaret Ley Wright

Margaret Ley Wright, 91, of Friday Harbor, Wash., died Saturday.

Mrs. Wright was born in Mabton and raised in Wapato. She and her husband lived in Yakima for several years before moving to Bremerton, Wash.

Survivors include two sons, Richard L. Wright of Las Vegas, Nev., and James B. Wright of Norwich, Conn.; one daughter, Nancy R. Lindenberg of Friday Harbor; one sister, Ruth Howard of Yakima; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Cremation was handled by Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Anacortes, Wash. Memorial service and inurnment will be Aug. 21 at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Gig Harbor, Wash.

Stanley G. Waeffler

Stanley G. Waeffler, 75, of Gleed died Monday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Waeffler was born in Monroe, Wis.

Survivors include one sister, Carolyn Klingele of Prosser; and one brother, Ken Waeffler of Asotin, Wash.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Tahoma Cemetery.

Donald Charles Babcock

Donald Charles Babcock, 77, of Cowiche died Tuesday at home.

Mr. Babcock was born in Thedford, Neb. He was a truck driver for the Nabisco Co. for forty years until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Alene Babcock of Cowiche; three sons, Timothy C. Babcock of Ruston, La., Dennis Babcock of Bellevue, Wash., and Steve Babcock of Wapato; one daughter, Janice Sargent of Bolivar, Mo.; one brother, Howard Babcock of North Platte, Neb.; two sisters, Viola Wheeler of Emmett, Idaho, and Ona Mae Engle of Santa Monica, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Concluding services and burial will follow at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Jeniece Rowen Schlecht

Jeniece Rowen Schlecht, 95, died Sept. 21 in San Rafael, Calif.

Mrs. Schlecht was born in Granville, N.D. She lived for more than 50 years in Toppenish, where she owned a barbershop.

Survivors include her cousin, Nellie Benedetti of Yakima.

A remembrance gathering for friends and relatives will be at noon Monday at the Oxford Suites, 1701 E. Yakima Ave.

Norma Jean Phillips

Norma Jean Phillips, 71, of Yakima died Sept. 3 at Yakima Regional Cardiac and Medical Center.

Mrs. Phillips was born in Tishomingo, Okla. She settled in Yakima in 1944. She then moved to the San Francisco Bay area in 1963. She and her husband owned and operated a ranch in Plymouth, Calif. She returned to Yakima in 1999 after her husband's death.

Survivors include a daughter, Tami R. Beal of Burien, Wash.; a brother, Floyd Linden Tolbert of Tacoma; and a sister, Charlotte D. Farrow of Yakima.

Graveside services were Sept. 7 at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynwood, Wash.

Donald Dean Martin

Donald Dean Martin, 57, of Yakima died Wednesday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Martin was born in Chewelah, Wash. He lived in Wenatchee, Moses Lake, Mt. Vernon and Yakima. He worked in real estate sales from 1983-1995. He owned Krieger and Associates real estate company.

Survivors include Jeannette Martin of Yakima; two daughters, Robin Villa of Arlington and Dena Martin of Yakima; a son, Tom Martin of Yakima; a brother, Carey Martin of Wenatchee; three sisters, Peggy Bentley and June Fife of Colville, Wash., and Joan Malliot of Moses Lake; and a grandson.

Memorial service will be Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. There will be no public viewing.

Jacob John "Jack" Ott

Jacob John "Jack" Ott, 62, of Yakima died Thursday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Ott was born in Belfield, N.D. He moved to Yakima in 1967. He worked in the heating, air-conditioning and propane industry. He served in the Army from 1961-1963.

Survivors include his companion, Marti Sondgeroth of Yakima; four daughters, Stephanie Ringer and Melissa Durpe of Yakima, Jaci Ott-McConnell of Spokane and Toni Schroeder of Selah; three brothers, Vince Ott, Tony Ott and Joe Ott; eight sisters, Eva Binek, Bertha Ficek, Maggie Miller, Betty Lilly, Margie Stroh, Ann Meyer, Jenny Graff and Susan Messmer; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors, with recitation of the rosary at 4 p.m. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Concluding services immediately following at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
