Gary V. Huntley, 63, of Selah died Wednesday at home. Mr. Huntley was born in Vancouver, Wash. He worked as a registered nurse and physician's assistant.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Huntley of Selah; two daughters, April Adkison of Selah and Heidi Ramirez of Gladstone, Ore.; a son, Gary Huntley of Wenatchee; and six grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Charles E. Tenbusch Sr.
Announcement dated July 18, 2009
Charles Edward Tenbusch Sr., 54, of Yakima died Friday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Tenbusch was born in Dallas, Ore. He worked as a foreman of a fruit warehouse and retired in February.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Tenbusch Jr., Mike Tenbusch and Joe Tenbusch of Yakima; a daughter, Tina Tenbusch of Yakima; three sisters, Donna Thomas, Bernice Tenbusch and Eileen Duncan of Yakima; five brothers, Jerry Tenbusch, Joe Tenbusch, Frank Tenbusch, Danny Tenbusch and James Duncan of Yakima; and eight grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Valley Hills Funeral Home of Yakima. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in West Hills Memorial Park.

Mary L. Wheeler Wales

Mary Louise "Babe" Wheeler Wales, 78, of Yakima died Thursday at Willow Springs. Mrs. Wales was born in Yakima. She worked in the fruit industry as a fruit sorter for various warehouses.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Wales and Dennis Wales, both of Yakima; two daughters, Della Schwer of Abingdon, Md., and Linda Vance of Yakima; three sisters, Sharon Morrow of Gleed, Barbara McNamara of Naches and Shirley Boles of Selah; a brother, Bill Wheeler of Yakima; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, also at Keith and Keith. Concluding services and burial will follow in West Hills Memorial Park.

Eduardo Guerrero

Eduardo Guerrero, 21, of Mattawa died Wednesday due to injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Mr. Guerrero was born in Sunnyside. He was working at his mother's day care in Mattawa.

Survivors include his parents, Rafael and Rosa Guerrero of Mattawa; two brothers, Juan Guerrero of Mexico and Rafael Guerrero Jr. of Grandview; and a sister, Ana Laura Alvares of Grandview.

Viewing will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, with a rosary at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph, with burial to follow in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mario Carranza

Mario Carranza, 29, of Mattawa died Wednesday.

Mr. Carranza was born in Sunnyside. He worked for several wineries in Paterson.

Survivors include his parents, Jose and Soledad Carranza; three brothers, Jose of Texas and Javier and Carlos of Mattawa; five sisters, Celia of Mexico, Elena of Sunnyside and Patty, Maria and Silvia, all of Mattawa.

Viewing will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, with a rosary at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

Ramiro Melendrez

Ramiro Melendrez, 67, of Sunnyside died Friday at Sunnyside Community Hospital.

Mr. Melendrez was born in Carrizo Springs, Texas. He lived in Sunnyside for more than 40 years and was a farm worker.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Melendrez; two sons, Alfonso Melendrez and Frankie Melendrez, both of Sunnyside; two daughters, Nena Melendrez of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Maria Montiel of Sunnyside; two brothers, Nick Melendrez and Richard Melendrez, both of Sunnyside; nine sisters, Aurora Escobar, Angela Melendrez, Charra Garza, Aralia Ramirez, Santa Myers, Peewee Cortez, Cruz Amaro, Carmen Reyes and Julia Melendrez; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside, with a rosary at 6 p.m. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Cremation will follow.

Esther S. Dalzell

Esther Selma Dalzell, 90, of Yakima died Thursday at Landmark Care Center.

Ms. Dalzell was born in the Horse Heaven Hills near Prosser and grew up in Elk Heights near Cle Elum. She worked for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program until her retirement.

Survivors include three children, Dennis Dalzell of Lynnwood, Wash., and Judy Dalzell and Kathy Coffey, both of Yakima; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Teresa L. Scott
Announcement dated July 21, 2009
Teresa Lynn "Aunt Terry" Scott, 57, of Yakima died Saturday. She was born in Yakima and raised in Spokane. She returned to Yakima after high school and worked as a checker at an area grocery store.

Survivors include her husband, Don Scott of Yakima; three daughters, Molly Scott and Kelly Scott, both of Yakima, and Erin Manning of Mulvane, Kan.; three brothers, Jeffery Shepheard of Yakima, Curtis Shepheard of Kent, Wash., and Gordon Walsh of Tacoma; two sisters, Cindy Irvin and Shannon McWhirk, both of Spokane; and three grandchildren.

Per Mrs. Scott's request, a celebration of life and a potluck dinner will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at her home. For directions and information, contact the family. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Terrence J. Vavricka

Terrence James Vavricka, 59, of Odell, Ore., died Sunday at his home. Mr. Vavricka lived in Yakima from high school age until the mid-1970s, then moved to Goldendale.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hood River, Ore. Arrangements are by Anderson's Tribute Center in Hood River.

Laura E. Bates

Laura Evelyn Bates, 91, of Yakima died Saturday at Willow Springs Care. She was born in Clarissa, Minn., and lived in the Valley since 1936. She worked as manager of Grand Central Market.

Survivors include her sister, Rhoda Foster of Yakima.

Family memorial services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral and Crematory.

Melba L. Hendren
Announcement dated July 21, 2009
Melba Leona Hendren, 73, of Yakima died Sunday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hendren was born in Scholle, N.M. She farmed with her husband and was also a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas A. Hendren of Yakima; a daughter, Carol L. Widmyer of Yakima; two sons, Randy T. Hendren of Granger and Donald R. Hendren of Zillah; a sister, Edna Warner of Athena, Ore.; two brothers, Melvin Wood of Kennewick and Harold Frank Wood of Rigby, Idaho; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, also at Merritt Funeral Home. Concluding services and burial will be in the Reservation Community Memorial Park, Wapato.

Odetta A. Sutton

Odetta A. (Eglin) Sutton, 96, of Yakima died Sunday at Highgate Senior Living. Mrs. Sutton was born in Terra Haute, Ind., and worked 30 years for the Bon Marche as a salesclerk, retiring in the 1980s.

Survivors include a son, Gordon Eglin of Yakima; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Tahoma Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery.

Randy Parks
Announcement dated July 21, 2009
Randy Parks, 57, of Ellensburg died Saturday at home. Mr. Parks was born in Snoqualmie, Wash., and moved as a child to Cle Elum. He served in the Navy and worked various jobs.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Parks of Ellensburg; his parents, Robert and Lily Parks of Ellensburg; three sons, Tim Parks of Seattle and Bodie Parks and Robert Parks of Royal City, Wash.; a daughter, Sarah Williams of Seattle; a brother, Rocky Parks of California; four sisters, Sheila Ackerlund of Ellensburg, Shelli Nesmith of Moses Lake, Barb North of Missouri and Linda Parks of South Carolina.

A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church on the Vantage Highway. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.

Erica A. Nease

Erica A. Nease, 11-month-old daughter of Steven Nease and Lillian A. Jim, died Monday in Toppenish. She was born Aug. 7, 2008, in Toppenish.

Besides her parents, survivors include two brothers, Sean Nease and Kaiden Nease; and two sisters, Kali Ann Nease and Alex George, all of Wapato.

Dressing services will be at 1 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home. Overnight services will be at the Toppenish Longhouse. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at the Longhouse with interment to follow in McCoy Cemetery, east of Toppenish.

Tanya Teller

Tanya Teller, 32, of Toppenish died Friday as the result of a motor vehicle accident outside of Toppenish. Ms. Teller was born in Owyhee, Nev.

Services will be Friday in Fort Belknap, Mont. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

Preston H. Ahto-Watlamett

Preston H. Ahto-Watlamett, 21, of White Swan died Tuesday.

Mr. Ahto-Watlamett was born in Yakima and raised and educated in White Swan.

Survivors include his parents, Russell Watlamett Jr. and Laurie Ahto of White Swan; his companion, Alma Jo Fiander of White Swan; two children, Mason and Darlene Watlamett of White Swan; six brothers, Tyrone, Elias, Justin, Conrad and Russell Watlamett and Blaine Wheeler; and five sisters, Shiena Watlamett, Ray Ann Sanchey, Iola Sanchey, Darlene Watlamett and Stacy McKay.

Dressing services will be at 10 a.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home. Overnight services will be at the Independent Shaker Church in White Swan. The funeral will be at sunrise Thursday at the church, with interment to follow in the Union Gap Cemetery.

Fern J. Lempka

Fern Josephine Lempka, 100, of Yakima died Tuesday. Mrs. Lempka was born in Virginia, Nev., and was a resident of Yakima since 1969. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Marlyn Lempka of Kent, Wash., two daughters, Carolyn Lempka of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Joan Mertzmann of Lincoln, Neb.; a sister, Eva Smith of El Cajon, Calif.; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, also at Shaw and Sons. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Robert A. McDowell
Announcement dated July 22, 2009
Robert Arnold McDowell, 96, of Yakima died Sunday.

Mr. McDowell was born near Dayton, Wash.

He worked for Arrow Transportation for 30 years.

Survivors include two sons, Edgar McDowell of Ellensburg and Donald McDowell of Yakima; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service is pending. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

James O'Brien
Announcement dated July 22, 2009
James O'Brien, 55, of Yakima died Monday. Mr. O'Brien was born in Yakima.

Survivors include his mother and father, Barbara O'Brien and Thomas O'Brien of Wenatchee.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Jimmie M. Peacock
Announcement dated July 22, 2009
Jimmie M. Peacock, 68, of Toppenish died Monday. Mr. Peacock was born in Pampa, Texas, and served in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. He worked as an electrician for Dallas Power and Light and for Pacific Power.

In his retirement, he worked for Energy Northwest at the nuclear plant.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Zillah City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

Codey R. Gohl
Announcement dated July 22, 2009
Codey Richard Gohl, 2, of Yakima died Saturday.

Survivors include his parents, Randy and Amie Gohl; a brother, Conor Gohl; and his grandparents, Wayne and Debbie Gohl, all of Yakima.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Wiley Union Church, with graveside services following in West Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors.
