Laretta Hampton, 67, of Yakima died Sunday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center. Mrs. Hampton was born in Marion County, Ark., and had lived in the Yakima Valley for 36 years. She was a retired caregiver, working many years at Senior Chore.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Hampton of Yakima; three sons, Hershel Wood of Tacoma, Kenneth Hampton of Cowiche and Randy Bennett of Pennsylvania; three daughters, Debra Trickler of Olympia, Tamara Tilley of Zillah and Tina Wilkinson of Cowiche; two sisters, Marilyn Dover of Oregon and Carolyn Lawson of Arkansas; three brothers, Ervin Tolliver of Texas, Warren Tolliver of Vancouver, Wash., and Thomas Tolliver of Arkansas; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in West Hills Memorial Park.

Cecelia A. Derr
Announcement dated July 29, 2009
Cecelia Ann Derr, 87, of Yakima died Monday at Ellen House. Mrs. Derr was born in Moxee and moved to Grants Pass, Ore., in 1972. She returned to Yakima in 1985.

Survivors include seven children, Joyce Roach O.P. of Tacoma, Tom Roach of Pembrooke Pines, Fla., Nancy Johnson, Pat Roach and Herb Derr Jr., all of Yakima, Mike Roach of Malaga, Wash., and Michelle Kenney of Eugene, Ore.; four brothers and sisters, Dolores Morford and Ted Roy, both of Yakima, Theresa Oldfield of Sammamish, Wash., and Lester Roy of Moxee; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday and from noon to 4 p.m. Friday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Moxee. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, also at Holy Rosary. Interment will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Moxee.

Esperanza Reyna
Announcement dated July 29, 2009
Esperanza Reyna, 96, of McMinnville, Ore., and a former Yakima Valley resident, died Monday. Mrs. Reyna was born in Monterrey, Mexico. She moved to the Lower Yakima Valley in 1964 after living in Raymondville, Texas.

Survivors include eight children, Greg Rodriguez of Toppenish, Jesse Rodriguez of Pasco, Frank Rodriguez of Hermiston, Ore., Lupe Rodriguez and Alfred Rodriguez of Seattle, Jose Rodriguez of Sunnyside, Esperanza Rocha of San Diego, Calif., and Margarita Duckworth of Yamhill, Ore.; 32 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Sunnyside Cemetery.

Robert L. Hobbs

Robert L. Hobbs, 77, of Ellensburg died Tuesday at home. Mr. Hobbs was born in Hastings, Mich., and served in the Air Force. He worked as a truck driver and later moved to Ellensburg and assisted in the operation of the family business, Cooke Canyon Hunt Club.

Survivors include three sons, Donald Hobbs of Texas, Rex Hobbs of California and Doug Hobbs of Bellevue, Wash.; two daughters, Trinia Joli of Oregon and Roberta Hobbs of Texas; and a sister, Alice Burnett of Ellensburg.

Memorial observation will be private. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.

Yvonne L. Uptmor

Yvonne L. Uptmor, 89, of Ellensburg died Monday at Royal Vista Care Center. Mrs. Uptmor was born in Cottonwood, Idaho, and lived most of her life in Vancouver, Wash. She moved to Ellensburg in 2007. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Staples of Ellensburg and Louise Korn of Shoreline, Wash.; and two sons, Roy Uptmor of Battleground, Wash., and Vic Uptmor of Vancouver.

Viewing will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Vancouver at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, also at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Chapel. Burial to follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Local arrangements by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.

Joyce Widman

Joyce Widman, 76, of Ellensburg died Monday at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital. Mrs. Widman was born in Glen Cullen, Ore., and raised in the Portland area. In 1966, she moved to Ellensburg. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Widman of Ellensburg and Paul "Jed" Widman of Palmetto, Fla.; three daughters, Dottie Louttit of Thorp, Jodi Gelinske of Crossville, Tenn., and Junee Feero of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Betty Holwege of Seaside, Ore.; and one grandchild.

Memorial observation will be private. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.

William G. Kuhns

Virginia Mae Blair-Pritchett, 84, of Yakima died Saturday. Mrs. Blair-Pritchett was born in Kahlotus, Wash.

Survivors include a son, Robert D. Blair; three sisters, Josephine Jensen, Leola Snyder and Rosemary Blair; and two brothers, John Blair and Bob Blair.

There will be a private gathering of the family at a later date. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home.

Luella J. (Wetrosky) Jahn

Luella Josephine (Wetrosky) Jahn, 89, of Inchelium, Wash., died Monday. Mrs. Jahn was born at home in Leeds, Iowa. She moved to Sunnyside in 1958 and lived there several years before moving to Inchelium.

Survivors include her husband, Carl; three daughters, Janet Schreiber of Moses Lake, Betty Conant of Chelan and Bonnie Mares of Mabton; a son, Carl J. Jahn of Sunnyside; a sister, Loretta Porsch of Sioux City, Iowa; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Danekas Funeral Chapel of Colville, Wash.

Alice E. Kehl

Alice Ellen Kehl, 95, of Yakima died Wednesday. Mrs. Kehl was born in Vancouver, B.C., and moved to the Yakima area in 1915. She was raised and educated in the Tieton area and was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Charles Kehl of Wapato; four daughters, Patricia Storkel of Prineville, Ore., Sonia Preedy of Ravensdale, Wash., Jeanne Swan of Wapato and Marena McKeever of Monona, Wis.; a brother, Henry Wissner of Gig Harbor, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Tahoma Cemetery, Yakima. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Sherdell E. Singleton
Announcement dated July 30, 2009
Sherdell Edmund Singleton, 80, of Yakima died Tuesday. Mr. Singleton was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, and served in the armed forces during the Korean War. He worked for Levi Strauss in Texas in 1950 and moved to Yakima in 1956 and worked for Bailey Manufacturing and Sunset Sportswear. He then opened his own business, Big Horn Sports, and worked closely with Racing Strollers until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Singleton of Yakima; eight children, James Singleton of Yakima, Nickie McNeely of Moxee, Kellie Hinkle of Moore, Okla., Shirley Pickard, Mary Crow and Rick Davis of Yakima, Michael Hanshew of Edmonds, Wash., and Michelle Agee of Moxee; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Terrace Heights Baptist Church, 619 S. 41st St., Yakima. Burial will be in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Maria C. Gonzalez

Maria Carolina Gonzalez, 46, of Wapato died Wednesday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Mrs. Gonzalez was born in Michoacan, Mexico. She was a cannery worker at Del Monte for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Hermenegildo Chavez of Mexico; two daughters, Yesenia Delgado and Lorena Chavez of Wapato; three brothers, Rigo Gonzalez, Mario Gonzalez and Ezequel Gonzales of Wapato; seven sisters, Celia Gonzalez, Manuela Gonzalez and Maria Dolores Gonzalez of Wapato, Carmela Gonzalez of Tacoma, Maria de la Luz Gonzalez and Monica Gonzalez of Bellevue, Wash., and Blanca Gonzalez of Mexico.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A vigil will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, also at Keith and Keith. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Wapato. Concluding services and burial will follow in Reservation Community Memorial Park.

Helen M. Hansen

Helen Marie Hansen, 95, of Union Gap died Wednesday. Mrs. Hansen was born in Marquette, Mich. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Alice Tyler of Union Gap; a sister, Mildred Wyrsch of Stanwood, Wash.; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Dorothy E. Romine

Dorothy E. Romine, 85, of White Swan died Monday at her home. Mrs. Romine was born in Alexander, Va.

Survivors include four daughters, Barb-ara Baird and Sarah Romine McBroom of White Swan, Jane Holland of Fort Mills, N.C., and Judy Koon of Ware Shoals, S.C.; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held in North Carolina at a later date. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home of Toppenish.

William W. Saunders Jr.

William W. "Bud" Saunders Jr., 78, of Zillah died Wednesday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center. Mr. Saunders was born in Yakima. He worked as production manager for Golden Gate Hop Ranches/S.S. Steiner.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of Zillah; two children, Karen Wells of Toppenish and David Saunders of Yakima; three brothers, Louie Saunders of Orcas Island, Wash., Herb Saunders of Olympia and Jim Saunders; four sisters, Donna Thompson of Yakima, Arlene Cheney of Milton-Freewater, Ore., Edmona Saunders of Orcas Island and Verna Saunders of Yakima; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Colonial Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, also at Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Zillah City Cemetery.

Dorothy M. Dorsey

Dorothy Mae Dorsey, 94, of Yakima, and formerly of Grandview, died Thursday. Mrs. Dorsey was born in Grandview. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Michele Smith of Yakima; a son, Gary Dorsey of Portland; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Marlene M. Grimes

Marlene Mae Grimes, 74, of Yakima died Thursday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center. Mrs. Grimes was born in Bellingham, Wash. She worked as a day care provider and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, James Grimes of Yakima; a son, Robert Grimes of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Margaret Kiser of Yakima and Lisa Gil of Kennewick; two sisters, Bonnie Sanders and Linda Bailey, both of East Wenatchee; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 13 at Terrace Heights Baptist Church, 619 S. 41st Ave.

Lukas A. Huth

Lukas Anthony Huth, infant son of Ryan Raymond Huth and Challea Myria Bussert of Grandview, died Saturday at the University of Washington Hospital in Seattle.

Besides his parents, survivors include his twin sister, Paige Marie Huth; grandparents, Dan and Mona Bussert of Grandview and Darwin and Pam Huth of Prosser; great-grandparents, Leroy and Susan Bussert of Grandview, Bill and Skip Stadley of Prosser, Elsie Huth and Yvonne Tucholke of Sunnyside and Fred and Gloria George of Spokane; great-great-grandmothers, Ella Marie Bussert of Sunnyside and Dorothy Leffel of Spokane.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Prosser Funeral Home. Concluding services and burial will follow in the Prosser Cemetery.

Ole Kristian Iversen, 60, of Yakima died Sunday in Roseburg, Ore. Mr. Iversen was born in Norway, lived in Selah and traveled the United States. He worked in international sales for Intralox Inc. in Louisiana.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Iversen; two daughters, Gwen Fahey and Drez Traxinger; and two grandchildren, all of Yakima.

No services are planned. Arrangements are by Wilson's Chapel of Roses in Roseburg, Ore.

Calletta L. LaFramboise

Calletta Larrine LaFramboise, 80, of Sunnyside died Thursday. Mrs. LaFramboise was born in Medina, N.D., and taught school in a one-room school-house. She later worked for J.C. Penney in Sunnyside.

Survivors include her husband, Armand LaFramboise Jr. of Sunnyside; 10 children, Sharon Roy and Karen Robin of Sunnyside, Rick Graff of Tacoma, Sister Beatrice LaFramboise, S.P., of Seattle, Steven LaFramboise of Spokane, Bill LaFramboise of Pittsburg, Pa., Rita Wright of Everett, Wash., Madeleine Funk LaFramboise of Yakima, Bob LaFramboise of Seattle and Pebs Poff of Sunnyside; a brother, Donald McGruder of Jamestown, N.D.; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Catholic Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Burial will follow in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

Melvin E. Tandberg

Melvin E. Tandberg, 81, of Union Gap died Wednesday at Regional Hospital in Seattle. Mr. Tandberg was born in Newberg, N.D. He was employed by the Union Gap School District for 23 years as a bus driver and custodian.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Tandberg of Union Gap; a daughter, Rye Dean Gonzales of Pasco; two sons, Kevin Tandberg of Ferndale, Wash., and Daron Tandberg of Yakima; a brother, Lester Tandberg of Minot, N.D.; two sisters, Violet Anderson of Rugby, N.D., and Florence Ress of Cheyenne, Wyo.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 8, also at Keith and Keith. Burial will follow in West Hills Memorial Park with full military honors.

Survivors include three daughters, Margarita Cuevas Gonzalez of Mexico, Lucinda Cuevas (Gonzalez) of Sunnyside and Guillermina Cuevas (Gutierez) of California; three sons, Florencio Cuevas of Mexico, and Jose Cuevas Jr. and Rojelio Cuevas of Sunnyside; 34 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 6 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home of Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, with burial to follow in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her mother and father, Alice Mack and Clyde Mack of Yakima; her husband, Mark Cariveau of Yakima; a son, Jarrod Torres of Wenatchee; three daughters, Mackenzie Cariveau and Caitlin Cariveau of Yakima and Amber Duffy of Wenatchee; a brother, Clyde Mack Jr. of Union Gap; a sister, LaSonja Bachman of Stanfield, Ore.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Yakima Area Arboretum, 1401 Arboretum Drive, Yakima. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.
