Laura Pierce, 99, of Wenatchee, died Sept. 26. Ms. Pierce was born in Rainier, Ore.

She lived in Wapato, Toppenish, College Place, Wash., and Wenatchee, and worked as a dietitian.

Survivors include three daughters, Ursella Ball and Laurine Pierce, both of Wenatchee, and Charla Snead of Windsor, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 4 at Fairview Seventh-day Adventist Church in Yakima. Burial will be at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Okanogan County Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Willard Cloud
Announcement dated October 19, 2009
Willard Cloud, 71, died Saturday in Toppenish.

Mr. Cloud was a member of the Yakama Nation and grew up outside of Lyle, Wash. He worked as a traditional fisherman and hunter.

Survivors include six daughters, Jacquelyn Cloud and Martha Cloud, both of Toppenish, Willa Cloud of Lyle, Brenda Cloud of Warm Springs, Ore., Muriel Cloud of Stevenson, Wash., and Alexandra Grace Rose of Wishram; four sons, Arthur and Walter Cloud, both of Wishram, Willard Cloud Jr. of White Swan and Eugene Cloud of Toppenish; a brother, Mike Cloud of The Dalles, Ore.; three sisters, Sylvia Martinez of Wapato, Sylola Leslie of Wishram and Sharon Cloud of Goldendale; 21 grandchildren and numerous grandchildren.

Dressing services will be held at 11 a.m. todayat Colonial Funeral Home, which is also handling arrangements.

Overnight services will follow at the Lyle Longhouse, with the funeral at sunrise Tuesday followed by a burial in Wish-xum Cemetery.

Patricia Baker
Announcement dated October 20, 2009
Patricia Baker, 84, of Yakima died Sunday. Mrs. Baker was born in Consort, Alberta, Canada. She worked as a licensed practical nurse.

Survivors include two sons, David Shrock of Yakima and Steve Shrock of Orville, Calif.; three stepsons, Roger Baker of Vancouver, Wash., John Baker of LaConner, Wash., and Jim Baker of Bremerton, Wash.; three stepdaughters, Joanne Mason of LaConner, Barbara Campbell of Winthrop, Wash., and Gail Rothbowen of Orlando, Fla.; and two sisters, Colleen Rudd and Sharon Larson.

Private family services are pending. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Mary E. Bernard

Mary Eleanor Bernard, 100, former Wapato resident, died Monday at the Covenant House in Yakima. Mrs. Bernard was born in Marysville, Wash. She worked as a librarian.

Survivors include two children, David Nevill of Zillah and Joyce Sorenson of Everett, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in the Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home in Toppenish.

Evalyn F. Carlson
Announcement dated October 20, 2009
Evalyn F. Carlson, 96, of Cle Elum died Friday at Royal Vista Care Center. Mrs. Carlson was born in Monitor, Wash., and moved to Cle Elum in the early 1940s. She owned and operated the C & E Variety Store for many years.

With no living survivors, her final care was provided by her friend, Pat Woodell of Cle Elum.

A memorial celebration of life will be at a later date. Arrangements by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.

Susan C. Emerson
Announcement dated October 20, 2009
Susan C. Emerson, 60, of Ellensburg died Friday. Mrs. Emerson was born in Tacoma and lived in Kodiak, Alaska, before moving to Ellensburg last year.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Emerson of Ellensburg; two daughters, Amy Emerson of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Marie Perez of Ellensburg; a son, Jimmy Emerson of Kodiak; six siblings, Catherine, Regina, Martin and Joe Petrick of Tacoma, and Ann Sloper and George Petrick of Seattle; and one granddaughter.

A memorial rosary will be at noon Thursday, with a memorial Mass at 1 p.m., both at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Ellensburg. A memorial gathering and celebration of life will immediately follow at the family home on Manastash Road. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care of Ellensburg.

Mabel S. Thompson
Announcement dated October 20, 2009
Mabel S. Thompson, 95, of Yakima died Saturday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Thompson was born in Cado County, Okla., and moved to Yakima in 1954 from Arkansas. She worked some outside of the home, but was primarily a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Finnis "Ted" Thompson of Cowiche and James Nowlin Thompson of Yakima; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, also at the funeral home. Concluding burial will be in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Frank B. Trevino
Announcement dated October 20, 2009
Frank B. Trevino, 96, of Toppenish died Friday at home. Mr. Trevino was born in Chihuahua, Mexico. He worked at Del Monte as a mechanic and foreman.

Survivors include three sons, Frank Trevino Jr. of Tacoma, Tom Trevino of Redmond, Wash., and David Trevino Sr. of Toppenish; two daughters, Sylvia Macias of Redmond and Laura Gonzales of Centralia, Wash.; two brothers, Joe Razo of Toppenish and Ray Razo of the Tri-Cities; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Aloysious Catholic Church. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, also at the church. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

Arla M. Loveland
Announcement dated October 20, 2009
Arla Mae Loveland, 86, of Yakima died Saturday at Ponderosa Retirement Center. Mrs. Loveland was born in Ladysmith, Wis., and moved to Yakima in 1975. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Crane of Carson City, Nev.

No formal services will be held. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home of Yakima.

Darlene McDonald

Darlene McDonald, 65, of Selah died Monday. Mrs. McDonald was born in Yakima. She worked as a truck driver.

Survivors include her mother, Charlene Dybdahl of Bremerton, Wash.; a son, Donald R. Hayes of Syracuse, Utah; a daughter, Lesa Hayes of Selah; a brother, Larry Mears of Bremerton; a sister, Elsie Hall of Bremerton, Wash.; and four grandchildren.

At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Emily McMurrey
Announcement dated October 20, 2009
Emily McMurrey, 58, of Yakima died Sunday. Mrs. McMurrey was born in Berkeley, Calif. She served in the Air Force and then the Army National Guard. She lived in New Mexico, Lodi, Calif., Ridgecrest, Calif., Porterville, Calif., and Prosser, then settled in Yakima.

Survivors include her husband, Terry McMurrey of Yakima; a daughter, Jessie Hansen; a sister, Heather Lewis of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a brother, Charles Hansen of North Dakota; and four grandchildren.

There will be no formal funeral. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Pablo Molina
Announcement dated October 20, 2009
Pablo Molina, 74, of Sunnyside died Saturday. Mr. Molina was born in Rodey, N.M. He worked in agriculture in and around Sunnyside for 20 years.

Survivors include two brothers, Jesus Lara of Granger and Ben Molina of Sun City, Ariz.; and two sisters, Maria Castillo of Phoenix, Ariz., and Rafaela Avalos of Las Cruses, N.M.

Mr. Molina's cremains are being sent to Sun City for family burial. Arrangements by Valley Hills Funeral Home of Sunnyside.

Michael W. Hall
Announcement dated October 20, 2009
Michael Wayne Hall, 58, of Yakima died Friday at home. Mr. Hall was born in Yakima and served in the Army. He owned and operated an auto dealership as well as was a mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Geri Hall; three sons, Ron Hall, Darrell Hall and Mike S. Hall; two daughters, Patti Chandler and Lisa Wickerham; three brothers, Hershel Hall, Ron Hall and Roger Hall; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

At his request, no formal services will be held. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Verna J. Hoyle
Announcement dated October 20, 2009
Verna Jean Hoyle, 76, of Sunnyside Wednesday at Hillcrest Manor. Mrs. Hoyle was born in Syracuse, N.Y., and moved to Richland in 1943. She also lived in Benton City before settling in Prosser. She worked as a nursing assistant at Prosser Memorial Hospital and in customer service at various locations, including Safeway and Elfers-Lyon Rexall.

Survivors include two sons, Mike Yeary of Prosser and Jim Hoyle of Kent, Wash.; a sister, Donna Oldfather of Zillah; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church in Prosser. Arrangements are by Prosser Funeral Home.

Esther L. Ehlers
Announcement dated October 21, 2009
Esther Leone Ehlers, 84, of Yakima died Monday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ehlers was born in Wessington Springs, S.D., and had lived in the Yakima Valley for more than 20 years. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Richard E. Ehlers of Yakima and Randall J. Ehlers of San Diego; a daughter, Deborah Lynn Ehlers-Nielsen of West Richland; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 28 at First Presbyterian Church, with a reception immediately following. A committal service will be at 1:30 p.m. in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Lamoyl H. Heilman

Lamoyl H. Heilman, 77, of Yakima died Saturday. Mrs. Heilman was born in Aberdeen, S.D., and moved to Yakima. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Heilman of Yakima; a son, Lyle Heilman of Beaverton, Ore.; four daughters, Linda Follen of Port Orchard, Wash., Dianne Hazlewood of Bellingham, Wash., Melodie Lacaze of Kingman, Ariz., and Nancy Heilman-Schott of Bothell, Wash.; her stepmom, Rose Ryman; two brothers, Gerald Ryman of Faulkton, S.D., and Richard Hoffert; four sisters, Carol Androli, Rosemary Martin, Donna Huber and Virginia Collett; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary service at 7 p.m., at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Redeemer Church, with entombment to follow in Calvary Mausoleum.

Norma A. Hernandez-Sauceda

Norma Alice Hernandez-Sauceda, 62, of Toppenish died Sunday in Yakima. Mrs. Hernandez-Sauceda was born in Sunnyside. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Santos Sauceda Sr. of Toppenish; a son, Raymond Hernandez of Yakima; two stepsons, Santos Sauceda Jr. of Selah and Joe Meta of Idaho; two daughters, Laura Cervantes of Vancouver and Tanya Saiz of Yakima; six brothers, Ed Hernandez and Gilbert Hernandez of Mabton, Charles Hernandez and Jesse Hernandez Jr. of Sunnyside, Richard Hernandez and Fred Hernandez of Kennewick; and three sisters, Rachel Ott of Grandview, Christina Moreno of Richland and Gracie Maria Bice of Pasco.

A vigil service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Toppenish Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow in Toppenish Elmwood Cemetery.

Theodora M. Ostrowski

Theodora Marie "Teddy" Ostrowski, 57, of Yakima died Saturday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ostrowski was born in Belcourte, N.D. She worked as an attendance counselor at Yakima Valley School.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Ostrowski of Yakima; two sons, Aaron Lee of Yakima and Eddie Lamontagne of Spokane; four brothers, Mike Moran of Wapato and Jim Moran, Gary Moran and Dean Moran, all of Yakima; three sisters, Joyce Philp of Moxee, Betty Sunday of Wapato and Cathy Szymanski of Yakima; and 10 grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Valley Hills Funeral Home of Yakima. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Emma Piņon

Emma Piņon, 89, of Yakima died Saturday at home. Mrs. Piņon was born in El Paso, Texas, and grew up in the Mormon Colonies of Chihuahua, Mexico. She lived in Yakima for about 10 years.

Survivors include a son, Rodolfo (Rudy) Piņon of Yakima; a brother, Hector J. Spencer of California; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1414 S. 72nd Ave., Yakima. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, also at the church. Concluding service will be in Tahoma Cemetery. Arrangements are by Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors.

Kasper B. Sali
Announcement dated October 21, 2009
Kasper Balzar Sali, 83, of Yakima died Monday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center. Mr. Sali was born in Yakima. He farmed hops and fruit his whole life in the Moxee area, retiring this year.

Survivors include five children, Gary Sali of Moxee, Ron Sali of Boise, Idaho, Denise Sali, Brian Sali and Todd Sali, all of Yakima; three sisters, Georgie LaRiviere and Alice Hauck, both of Yakima, and Beverly Sali of Medford, Ore.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services are pending. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Benjamin P. Wong
Announcement dated October 21, 2009
Benjamin P. Wong, 17, of White Swan died Monday as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Mr. Wong was born in Yakima and raised in White Swan. He was a student at the high school and was attending YV-Tech, studying auto mechanics.

Survivors include his parents, Eugene and Gracia Wong of White Swan; and three brothers, Grant Luke of Naches, Eugene Wong III of Yakima and Nash Wong of White Swan.

Dressing services will be at 1 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home. Overnight services will be at the Toppenish Creek Longhouse, with sunrise services at the Yesmowit Cemetery on Thursday.

William Coleman Jr.
Announcement dated October 21, 2009
William R. Coleman Jr., 65, of Wapato died Monday at home. Mr. Coleman was born in Laramie, Wyo., and served in the Army. He was a pharmacist and owned the Red Cross Drug Store in Wapato for 35 years.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Coleman of Wapato; two sons, Richard Coleman of Ellensburg and Rob Coleman of Everett, Wash.; and a sister, Roberta Lynne Reynolds of Wapato.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Merritt Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Community Presbyterian Church in Wapato. Burial will be in the Reservation Community Memorial Park, west of Wapato.
