Maria L. Cuevas, 59, of Naches died Sunday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. She was born in Arteaga, Michoacán, Mexico. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include six sons, Bulnaro, Mario, Juan, Robert, Timoteo and Angel Ontiveros; her mother, Andrea Cuevas of Mexico; and brothers and sisters in Mexico.

Private services are being planned. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Judy A. Herrmann

Judy Ann Herrmann, 70, of Sunnyside died Sunday. Mrs. Herrmann was born in Yakima.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Herrmann of Sunnyside; a daughter, Debbie Parker of Yakima; two sons, Don Herrmann of Tacoma and Doug Herrmann of Sunnyside; a brother, Jim Purdy of Twin Falls, Idaho; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mario Mungia
Announcement dated October 27, 2009
Mario Mungia, 15, of Toppenish died Sunday at Toppenish Community Hospital. Mr. Mungia was born in Yakima.

Survivors include his parents, Mario and Guillermina Mungia of Toppenish; two brothers, Jose Mungia of California and Jose Luis Mungia of Toppenish; and two sisters, Patricia Mungia and Erica Mungia, both of Yakima.

Rosary service will be at 6 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home in Toppenish. Funeral Mass will be at noon Wednesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Toppenish. Interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery.

Jason T. Baldoz
Announcement dated October 28, 2009
Jason Theodore Baldoz, 34, of Union Gap died Monday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center as a result of a shooting early Sunday.

Mr. Baldoz was born in Yakima. He worked as a waiter.

Survivors include his mother, Diane J. Baldoz of Selah; his father, Daniel M. Baldoz Jr. of Renton, Wash.; his companion, Maria Maravilla of Union Gap; two sons, Giovanni T. Baldoz of Selah and Anthony J. Baldoz of Union Gap; and a brother, Daniel J. Baldoz III of Puyallup, Wash..

Viewing will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Valley Hills Funeral Home of Yakima. A service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Breakthrough Christian Center in Yakima. Burial will be in West Hills Memorial Park. A reception will follow at the Selah Civic Center.

Aileen Barngrover
Announcement dated October 28, 2009
Aileen Barngrover, 95, of Yakima died Monday at Willow Springs Care Center.

Mr. Barngrover was born in Rocky Ford, Colo. She was a school teacher with the Yakima School District for more than 20 years.

Survivors include a son, Rick Barngrover of Yakima; a daughter, Sherry Lynn Krebs of Wenatchee; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, also at Keith and Keith. Concluding services and burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Steven E. Miller
Announcement dated October 28, 2009
Steven Edward Miller, 27, of Seattle died Friday.

Mr. Miller was born in Sunnyside and served in the Army. He was employed with dBoone Construction.

Survivors include his mother, Karen Miller; his father, Gary Miller; two brothers, Trevor Galey of Grandview and Benjamin Miller of Bonney Lake, Wash.; and a sister, Sherry Miller of Spokane.

A rosary will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, also at the church. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home.

Alice Reyes
Announcement dated October 28, 2009
Alice Reyes, 41, of Mabton died Thursday.

Mrs. Reyes was born in Stayton, Ore., moved to Sunnyside as a child and then moved to Mabton. She worked at J & M Market for a few years. She worked for Walmart for the past 15 years.

Survivors include a son, Robert Reyes; her parents, Aurora and Severiano Reyes Jr.; and three siblings, Ruben Reyes, Irma Reyes of Mabton, and Ricardo Reyes of Hermiston, Ore.

Viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sunnyside, with burial to follow in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

Edwin M. Santee
Announcement dated October 28, 2009
Edwin M. Santee, 91, of Sunnyside died Saturday at home.

Mr. Santee was born in South Bend, Wash. He was an engineer and worked in aerospace for the Boeing Co. in Seattle for many years. He then returned to Yakima.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Santee of Sunnyside and Grant Santee of Seattle.

At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home.

Leo D. Moore
Announcement dated October 28, 2009
Leo Dean Moore, 80, of Grandview died Monday at home.

Mr. Moore was born in Enid, Okla. He was a farmer and worked more than 30 years for the USDA.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Genoveva Moore of Grandview; two sons, Dana Moore of Haywood, Calif., and Evan Moore of Kennewick; two daughters, Harriet Moore of San Jose, Calif., and Wanda Moore of Pasco; and two sisters, Mary Lou Storkel and Dixie Duncan, both of Pasco.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Sunnyside. The funeral will follow the viewing. A brief prayer service will be Saturday before going to Mountain View Cemetery in Goldendale for burial.

Don D. Culton

Don Daniel Culton, 78, of Yakima died Saturday.

Mr. Culton was born in Toppenish and raised and educated in the Yakima area. He worked as a foreman in a Yakima Valley fruit orchard until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Donna C. Culton; a son, Donald L. Culton; a daughter, Kathy A. Dukes; three stepsons, Daryl Noble, Terry Lemon and Jim Noble, all of Yakima; a stepdaughter, Carol Bartlet of Yakima; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

At his request, there are no services being planned at this time. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Larry P. Painter

Larry Paxton Painter, 61, of Yakima died Monday at Parkside Nursing Care Center in Union Gap.

Mr. Painter was born in Little Rock, Ark. He worked as a tire repairman in the automotive industry.

Survivors include a son, Eddie Abrams of Yakima; two daughters, Angel Richelderfer and Laura Peterman, both of Yakima; a brother, Ricky Painter of Jonesboro, Ark.; two sisters, Doris Slater and Wanda Shelton, both of Hardy, Ark.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday at New Hope Chapel in Yakima. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Gary W. Hammond
Announcement dated October 29, 2009
Gary W. Hammond, 68, of Yakima died Oct. 17. Mr. Hammond was born in Spokane and served in the Army. He worked at Edwards Equipment as a machinist for 26 years.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia; three daughters, Janet Davis of Everett, Wash., Venus Whitman of Yakima and Brenda Layne of Idaho; two sons, Gary W. Hammond Jr. of California and Vernon Hammond of Yakima; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

At his request, there will be no services. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Floyd D. Howell
Announcement dated October 29, 2009
Floyd D. Howell, 71, of Yakima died Monday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Howell was born in Winn Parrish, La., and moved to the Naches area when he was 8 years old. He had the Shell Service Station in Naches for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Howell; three sons, Rodney, Roger and Brice; two daughters, Rhonda and Ellen; six siblings, Loyd, Mary, Tommy, Travis, Zennie and Becky; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors, with committal following in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Gene E. Shockley

Gene E. Shockley, 84, of Buena died Tuesday in Toppenish. Mr. Shockley was born in Fresno, Calif.

Lavanda M. Thompson

Lavanda M. Thompson, 80, of Sunnyside died Tuesday in Yakima. Mrs. Thompson was born in Burley, Idaho, and received her education in the Lower Valley. She and her husband moved throughout Washington state until setting in Sunnyside.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil Thompson; a son, Mel Thompson of Sunnyside; two sisters, Pearl Stelling and Mamie Nash, both of Sunnyside; three brothers, Ernest Coder and Gene Coder, both of Yakima, and Bill Coder of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Smith Funeral Home of Sunnyside. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, also at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

William Wilbanks

William "Bill" Wilbanks, 53, of Gleed died Tuesday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center. Mr. Wilbanks was born in Yakima and was a lifetime resident. He worked at Orchard Rite for the past few years.

Survivors include his mother, Neville Wilbanks of Gleed; four brothers, Jim Wilbanks of Yakima, Randy Wilbanks of Quartzside, Ariz., Dave Wilbanks of Naches and Lindsey Wilbanks of Yakima; and two sisters, Kathy Lyczewski of Selah and Beth Wilbanks of Yakima.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors.

Barbara J. Haley
Announcement dated October 30, 2009
Barbara Jean Haley, 64, of Yakima died Wednesday.

Mrs. Haley was born in Hamilton, Mont. She had lived in the Granger/Sunnyside area, where she worked as a cook for EPIC, until 2008 when she relocated to Yakima.

Survivors include her husband, Jay Haley of Yakima; two sons, William Felthauser of Lewiston, Idaho, and Jeffery Felthauser of Clarkston, Wash.; two daughters, Corinne Haley of Outlook and Sabrina Lyons of Granger; a stepson, Timothy Haley of Outlook; two stepdaughters, Deanna French and Lisa Pederson, both of Prosser; a brother, Floyd Raymond of Yakima; a half-brother, Kenny Goss of Canby, Wash.; a sister, Sherry Grange of Yakima; a half-sister, Gloria Coombs of Portland; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Granger Assembly of God Church. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Alwin A. Probst
Announcement dated October 30, 2009
Alwin Alfred Probst, 90, of Yakima died Tuesday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Probst was born in Corvallis, Ore., and served in the Navy during World War II. He had been a resident of the Yakima area since 1945. He owned and operated Al Probst Hammond Organs.

Survivors include two sons, John Probst and Timothy Probst of Yakima; two daughters, Patricia Probst of Washington, D.C., and Susan Frank of Hansville, Wash.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. today at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors.

Glen C. Wilson
Announcement dated October 30, 2009
Glen Charles Wilson, 78, of Yakima died Wednesday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Wilson was born in Rogers, Ark., and served in the Army in Korea. He was a POW for three years. He then lived in Edmonds, Wash., before moving to Yakima, where he lived for 40 years. He worked as a barber and then as an Electrolux vacuum cleaner salesman for 35 years.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Wilson; two sons, Randy Wilson and Brian Wilson, both of Yakima; a daughter, Pam Lucas of Yakima; two brothers, Coy Wilson of Edmonds and Jack Wilson of Ozark, Mo.; two sisters, Edna Parker of Alamo, Texas, and Margie Underwood of Proctor, Minn.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, also at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash.

Camila M. Schneider
Announcement dated October 30, 2009
Camila M. Schneider, infant daughter of Thomas and Arcelia Schneider of Yakima, died Wednesday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Besides her parents, survivors include two brothers, Jose Schneider and Diego Schneider of Yakima; a sister, Isabela Schneider of Yakima; and her grandmother, Jane Schneider of Yakima.

The funeral will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Billy M. Anderson
Announcement dated October 30, 2009
Billy M. Anderson, 78, former Sunnyside resident, died Oct. 23 in Elma, Wash.

Mr. Anderson was born in Galena, Kan., and served in the Navy and Army. Following his military service, he returned to Sunnyside and worked for the U&I Sugar Plant in Toppenish. He then worked on the construction of many dams on the Columbia River for Mid Mountain Construction. In 1979 he moved to Elma, where he founded M&L Ice business.

Survivors include two sons, Darrell Anderson of Clallam Bay, Wash., and Bob Anderson of Kennewick; five daughters, Doris Willy of Toppenish, Beverly Ried of Kennewick, Darlene Merry of Sunnyside, Debra Anderson of Grandview and Denise Willy of Yakima; two sisters, LaDonna Plunket of Corsicana, Texas, and Maine Graves of Kennewick; a brother, Don Anderson of Joplin, Mo.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday at Smith Funeral Home of Sunnyside. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, also at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.
