Margaret Ann Mayfield, 71, of Yakima died Tuesday at home. Mrs. Mayfield was born in Wapato and moved to Yakima in 1998. She worked as a certified nurses' assistant for 30 years.

Survivors include two sons, William Warnock of Yakima and Gary Warnock of Portland; a daughter, Teri Tolle, also of Portland; and eight grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are by Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors.

YuriDiana Walters
Announcement dated January 28, 2010
YuriDiana Walters, 18, of Sunnyside died Sunday in Tepejillo, Oaxaca, Mexico. She was born in Tacoma.

Survivors include her mother, Elva Walters of Sunnyside; and five siblings, Vincent, David, Martin, John and Sarah.

Overnight services will be Sunday at the McKinley Indian Mission Church west of Toppenish. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday at the church with burial to follow in the 1910 Shaker Church Cemetery. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

Michael "Mike" Andrew Kilian, 46, of Wapato, formerly of Sunnyside, died Tuesday in Yakima. Mr. Kilian was born in Seattle. He worked for various fruit companies throughout the Valley and was a plant manager for Johnson Concentrate.

Survivors include his wife, Melinda Kilian of Tieton; a daughter, Ashley; his parents, Winfield and Leona Kilian of Sunnyside; a brother, Mark Kilian of Prosser; a sister, Lora Jean Kilian of Seattle; and four grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, also at the funeral home.

Irvin C. Roberts

Irvin Clifton Roberts, 80, of Yakima died Sunday in Yakima.

Roberts was born in Spokane, Mo. He moved to Yakima two months ago.

Survivors include two sons, Greg Roberts of Estacada, Ore., and Arnie Roberts of Ontario, Ore.; three daughters, Gail Wilson of Sherwood, Ore., Cindy Rutherford of Vancouver, Wash., and Cheryl Crume of Emmett, Idaho; and several brothers, sisters and grandchildren.

A service is planned at Estacada Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Shirley J. Henderson

Shirley J. Henderson, 77, of Yakima died Sunday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

She was born in Webb City, Mo., and worked as an accountant for 45 years.

Survivors include four sons, Timothy S. Berg of Yakima and Conrad A. Berg, both of Yakima, Charles R. Berg of Wright City, Mo., and Norman Phillip Berg of Granite Falls, Wash.; a daughter, Brenda Schmoe of Moxee; two brothers Claude B. Gillum of Mountlake Terrace, Wash., and Albert L. Gillum II of Selah; a sister, Karen J. Henderson of Yakima; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will have a private service. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory.

Charles Ricks

Charles ("Chaz") Ricks, 72, of Leavenworth, Wash., died Nov. 12. He was born in Sunnyside and worked for his family's grocery store, served in the Navy and worked for two automobile sales companies.

Survivors include a sister, Pat Daire, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Garten Haus in Leavenworth.

Ruth (Geneff) Anderson

Ruth (Geneff) Anderson, 85, of Yakima died Thursday at Summitview Health Care Center. Mrs. Anderson was born in Madison, Ill. She had been employed as a dental assistant, an attendance counselor at A.C. Davis High School, manager of the family owned excavating company and retired after 18 years with Yakima Valley Disposal.

Survivors include two daughters, Kelley Irwin and Vickie Tanasse, both of Yakima; and four grandchildren.

Viewing will be Jan. 27-29 from noon to 6 p.m. at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. A vigil will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 29, also at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 30 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

Otis R. Bailey

Otis R. Bailey, 95, of Yakima died Friday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Bailey was born in Turon, Kan.

Survivors include seven sons, Otis "Keith" Bailey, Kenney Bailey and Terry Bailey, all of Yakima, David Bailey of Goldendale, Bob Bailey of Spokane, Gary Bailey of Ogden, Utah, and Tom Bailey of Tacoma; two daughters, Betty Ballard of Zillah and Lorraine Ream of Algona, Wash.; a sister, Vivian Williams of Prosser; a brother, John Bailey of Wisconsin; 27 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wiley Union Church.

Jessie B. Barnhill

Jessie B. Barnhill, 91, of Ellensburg died Friday at Kittitas Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Barnhill was born in Newcastle, Wyo. She taught business education in a number of Wyoming locations as well as in Ellensburg.

Survivors include three nieces, three nephews and numerous close friends.

A memorial celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, 1307 E. Third Ave., Ellensburg. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care.

Donald E. Cobain

Donald E. Cobain, 83, of Ellensburg died Saturday at Parkside Nursing Care Center in Union Gap. Mr. Cobain was born in Ellensburg and served in the Army during World War II. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years, and also owned and operated Shamrock Janitor Service for many years.

Survivors include his wife, June Cobain of Ellensburg; four sons, Keith and Kent Cobain of Ellensburg, Kirk Cobain of Everett, Wash., and Kelvin Cobain of Mount Vernon, Wash.; a sister, Darlene West of Ellensburg; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Affordable Funeral Care, 101 E. Second Ave., Ellensburg. Burial and graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, with military honors, in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. A memorial celebration of life with potluck will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion, 1101 N. Craig, Ellensburg.

Luis Gonzales

Luis Gonzales, 32, of Yakima died Friday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Gonzales was born in Toppenish. He lived in Seattle as a teenager and moved back to Yakima in his late 20s. He worked for Auto Max as a salesman for two years.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda Maltos Gonzales of Sunnyside; two children, Julian Gonzales of Harrah and Uriah Gonzales of Sunnyside; five brothers, R.L. Abercrombie of Irrigon, Ore., Bobbie Joe Gatlin of Walla Walla, Johnny Richard Gonzales and Nick Gonzales of Yakima and Derrick Gonzales of Idaho; and three sisters, Emelia Gonzales and Lucy Gonzales of Yakima and Monica Bostrion of Gold, Wash.

Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday and noon to 3 p.m. Friday at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday, also at the funeral home. Services will conclude in the chapel.

Dorothy M. Hanson

Dorothy May Hanson, 89, of Yakima died Saturday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hanson was born in Malone, Wash., and moved to Yakima in 2005. She lived and worked in Boise, Idaho, for 40 years.

Survivors include a son, Jonathan Hanson of Puyallup, Wash.; a daughter, Trudy Waggener of Cowiche; three brothers, Gene Olp of Klamath Falls, Ore., Everett Olp of Fresno, Calif., and Leonard Olp of Bremerton, Wash.; three sisters, Ruth Slape of The Dalles, Ore., Grace Cook of Cottage Grove, Ore., and Lauretta Harvey of Elma, Wash.; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Open Bible Church, 2701 W. Lincoln Ave., Yakima. Burial will be Monday in the Veteran's Cemetery in Boise.

David J. Jacob

David J. Jacob, 73, of Shelton, Wash., formerly of Yakima, died Friday at Providence St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia. Mr. Jacob was born in Yakima and worked out of the Labor's Union Local 614. He worked for many construction companies over the years. He moved to Olympia a year ago.

Survivors include two children, Lucinda Kluth and Johnathan Jacob, both of Shelton; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Wilma D. Montandon

Wilma Dean Montandon, 78, of Yakima died Friday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Montandon was born in Cleburne, Texas, and moved to the Yakima area in 1975. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, James E. Montandon of Yakima; three children, Patricia Medford and Laura Duval, both of Yakima, and James Timothy Montandon of Marble Falls, Texas; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Yakima Bible Baptist Church. Burial will follow in West Hills Memorial Park.

Caroline Dick

Caroline Dick, 68, of Satus died Monday in Toppenish. Mrs. Dick was born in Brownstown. She worked as a teachers aide/cook for Yakama Tribal Headstart, a custodian for the Heritage Cultural Center and as a driver for the senior citizen program.

Survivors include her husband, Evans Dick of Satus; five children, Roy and Warren of Satus, Howard Wahpat and Mary Jean Dick of Toppenish and Wendy Squeochs of Harrah; three sisters, Lucinda Miller and Darlene Benson of Brownstown and Diane Benson of Toppenish; and two grandchildren.

Dressing services will be at 10 a.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home. Overnight services will be at the Satus Longhouse, with funeral services on Thursday at sunrise, also at the Longhouse. Burial to follow in the Simpson Cemetery in White Swan.

Beatrice M. Gonzales

Beatrice M. Gonzales, 76, of Toppenish died Saturday at home. Mrs. Gonzales was born in Garland, Wyo., and moved to the Yakima Valley as a teenager. She worked for Del Monte and Libby's for many years.

Survivors include six daughters, Linda Roybal and Bernice Joyce, both of Seattle, Shelly Garcia of Yakima, Alice Koerner of Zillah, and Sally and Nina Gonzales, both of Toppenish; two sons, Joe Roybal of Seattle and Lucio Gonzales Jr. of Yakima; and 17 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday at Colonial Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Elmwood Cemetery in Toppenish.

Leonard J. Tainewasher

Leonard "Lenny" Joseph Tainewasher, 44, of Warm Springs, Ore., died Sunday. Mr. Tainewasher was born in Toppenish. He worked at various restaurants and lounges in Washington and Oregon. His last job was as lounge manager at Kah-Nee-Tah Resort in Warm Springs, Ore.

Survivors include his dad, Harrison T. Tainewasher Sr. of Wapato; his mother, Matilda George Sharloo of Toppenish; two brothers, Harrison T. Tainewasher Jr. of Toppenish and Perry Leigh Tainewasher of White Swan; two sisters, Maryal and Betsy Marie, both of Wapato; two adopted brothers, Johnny and Tuffy Yallup of Toppenish; and three adopted sisters, Deborah and Vanessa George, both of Warm Springs, and Patrena "Trenawasher" Colwash of Yakima.

Dressing services were held Tuesday at the Toppenish Longhouse. Overnight services are at 8 a.m. today, leaving for Union Gap Cemetery.

Margie Mae Stone, 75, of Yakima died Monday. Mrs. Stone was born in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include five children, Robert Mills, Jim Stone, Carl Stone, Jane Mendoza and Lovetta Biddick; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Keith and Keith Terrace Heights Chapel Reception Center.

Keith Kulhavy Sr.

Keith Kulhavy Sr., 60, of Zillah died Monday. Mr. Kulhavy was born in Yakima. He worked for Barnett Implement in Wapato for many years. He was a volunteer for the Zillah Fire Dept., Yakima County District 5, Toppenish Police and Yakima County Search and Rescue.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Kulhavy; a son, Keith Kulhavy Jr.; a daughter, Sherry Privett, all of Zillah; two brothers, Edward Carlisle of Wenatchee and Jim Carlisle of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, Lila Larson of Port Angeles, Wash., Sandy Watson of Hoquiam, Wash., and Elaine English of Mesa, Ore.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Zillah. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Zillah Cemetery.

Marjorie A. White Lucas

Marjorie (Midge) Alice White Lucas, 88, of Selah died Wednesday. Mrs. Lucas was born in Salem, Ore. She was head of the Yakima Valley's 19 branch libraries for more than 25 years.

Survivors include a son, Roger Lucas of Yakima; three daughters, Karen Govreau of Naches, and Kathy Duncan and Carol Wiseman, both of Selah; a sister, Lola Anderson of Lacey, Wash.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Terrace Heights Civic Center. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory of Yakima.

Larry E. Barbee

Larry E. Barbee, 75, of Toppenish died Thursday.

He was born in Yakima and raised in Granger. He retired in 1978 as a sergeant major from the Marine Corps after serving 25 years. He also worked for Radar Electric in Seattle and retired in the late 1990s.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Schademan-Barbee of Toppenish; six children, Larry R. Barbee of Long Beach, Wash., Laura Byrne of Warrington, Ore., Linda Argent of California, Don Schademan and Verena Myers, both of Toppenish, and Weldon Schademan of Zillah; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Colonial Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with interment and military honors at Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima.

Arthur L. Thompson

Arthur "Art" LeRoy Thompson Sr., 74, of Yakima died Wednesday in Everett, Wash..

Mr. Thompson was born in Yakima. He worked as a truck driver for Snyder's bakery for many years and later moved to Puyallup, Wash., where he delivered mail.

He is survived by six children, Art Thompson Jr. of Outlook, Tina Stingely of Yakima, Valeen Carpenter of Venice, Fla., Tracy Epting of Everett, Carrie Cruz of Puyallup and Chad Thompson of Everett; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Viewing and visitation will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, and will be followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. at Keith and Keith Chapel in Terrace Heights. Burial with military honors will follow in the Terrace Heights Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home and Crematory.
