Mildred Lucille Kern-Avery, 81, of Grandview died Monday.

Mrs. Kern-Avery was born in Portland. She drove a school bus for 18 years and drove a berry picking bus during the summer months. After she moved to Prosser, she owned and operated Granny's Duggout, a sports card shop.

Survivors include five children, Michael, Patrick, Koni, Joe and Joella; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Celebration of life services will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the Barn Restaurant in Prosser. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home.

LaVilla C. Rentschler Ramsey
Announcement dated April 02, 2010
Lavilla C. Rentschler Ramsey, 96, of Wapato died Thursday in Yakima.

Mrs. Ramsey was born and raised in Toppenish. She and her husband owned and operated a large cow herd in White Swan.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Ramsey and Kip Ramsey; a sister, Viola O'Neal; a brother, John Rentschler Jr.; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She will be taken to her home on Monday for open services and visitation starting at 3 p.m. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Heritage Cultural Center Winter Lodge. Interment will follow in Reservation Community Memorial Park, west of Wapato. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

William R. Vogel

William "Bill" R. Vogel, 63, of Yakima died Wednesday at home.

Mr. Vogel was born in Brazil, Ind., and served in the Navy for 30 years, serving during the Vietnam War. He later did maintenance at the Yakima airport and was a driver for Hertz Car Rental.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene of Yakima; a daughter, Angela Orton of Redding, Calif.; two brothers, Jimmy Vogel and Paul Vogel Jr., both of Indiana; a sister, Beverly Vogel of Indiana; and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, also at the funeral home. Burial will be Thursday in Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash.

Barbara L. Wheeler

Barbara Lee Wheeler, 80, of Yakima died March 19 at home. Mrs. Wheeler was born in Grants Pass, Ore. She and her husband spent many years remodeling homes.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Wheeler; a daughter, Kathy Robles of Yakima; a son, Patrick Wheeler of Yakima; three stepchildren, Dan Wheeler, Lori Sprague and Danette Nidiffer; and numerous grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Leonard J. Ike

Leonard J. Ike, 49, of White Swan died Thursday in Toppenish. Mr. Ike was born in Toledo and raised in White Swan. He worked as a beekeeper for the Yakama Nation Department of Natural Resources and Wildlife.

Survivors include his parents, Otis and Lila Loggins of Toppenish and Luke and Charlotte Wahpat of White Swan; a daughter, Georgie Randall of White Swan; six brothers, Doug, John, Howard and Barney Ike, and OJ Loggins, all of White Swan, and Victor Gardee of Toppenish; and six sisters, Georgie Anne Ike of White Swan, Lucille Ike of Toppenish, Sally Ike, Nikki and Sissie Root of Wapato and Martha Winishut of Warm Springs.

Dressing services will be at 2 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home. Overnight services will be at the Independent Indian Shaker Church of White Swan this evening. Sunrise funeral service will be Saturday at the church, with interment at the Emunot Cemetery in Wiley City.

Kenneth Martin

Kenneth Martin, 57, of Yakima died Saturday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Martin was born in Colville, Wash.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Martin of Yakima; two sons, Chris Martin of Duvall, Wash., and Jim Martin of Chehalis, Wash.; a daughter, Melissa Martin of Duvall; a sister, Pat Martin of San Jose, Calif.; two brothers, Carl Martin of Airway Heights, Wash., and Thomas Martin of Spokane; and one grandson.

A memorial service is planned for April 24 at the Bucoda Christian Assembly in Bucoda, Wash. Inurnment will be in the Newport Cemetery in Newport, Wash. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

James L. Miller

James L. Miller, 21, of Dupont, Wash., died Monday in Afghanistan. He was born in Washington, D.C., and was in the Army, stationed at Fort Lewis and serving in Afghanistan.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Miller of Dupont; a daughter, Peyton Miller of Dupont; his mother, Kim Miller of Minnesota; his father, Nicholas Miller of Chugiak, Alaska; a sister, Mandy Hanel of Minnesota; and his grandmothers, Mary Wells of Chugiak and Patricia Vaughn of West Virginia.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. April 10 at the Zillah Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in the Zillah City Cemetery. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home of Zillah.

Leonard J. Ike

Eula Marguerite Farley, 91, of Selah died Thursday at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.

Mrs. Farley was born in St. Joseph, Mo. She worked the family orchard in Selah, was a cook for the Selah School District, as well as working other jobs.

Survivors include her husband, Wilfred Farley of Selah; two sons, Dan Kirk of San Diego and Robert Farley of Gleed; a daughter, Mary Farley of Selah; a brother, Sam McDowell of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Kathryn Cox of Selah; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. today at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery.

Kyle T. Flerchinger

Kyle Thomas Flerchinger, 20, of Orofino, Idaho, died Friday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. Mr. Flerchinger was born in Lewiston, Idaho. He moved to the White Swan area to join the Job Corps. He then returned to Orofino and was visiting Yakima at the time of his death.

Survivors include his mother, Terrie Lynn Lovely of Orofino; his father, Gerald Flerchinger of Kamiah, Idaho; two brothers, Levi Flerchinger and Chris Flerchinger of Kamiah; a sister, Gerilyn Flerchinger of Pocatello, Idaho; and his grandparents, Mary Loucka of Kooskia, Idaho, and Alvin Bennett of Athena, Ore.

A memorial service will be held in Orofino at a later date. Arrangements are by Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.

Alfredo C. Rodriguez

Alfredo C. Rodriguez, 80, of Grandview died Thursday in Richland. He lived in Grandview for the last 53 years and worked at a hatchery before retiring.

Survivors include six children, Aurelio Samaguey, Antonio Samaguey, Juan Jose Samaguey, Jesus Samaguey, Pedro Samaguey and Maria Luisa Samaguey; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

At his request, there will be no formal funeral. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home and Crematory.

Judythe S. Pratt

Judythe S. Pratt, 82, died Saturday in Selah.

Mrs. Pratt was born in Forest Grove, Ore.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph; two sons, Steven of Portland and Matthew of Bellevue, Wash.; a brother, Ernest Williams of Estacada, Ore.; three sisters, Grayce Folsom of Portland, Lorraine Ramos of Great Falls, Mont., and Barbara Landaver of Portland; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral is pending. Arrangements are by Keith & Keith Funeral Home.

Eve Mieras

Eve Mieras, 81, of Yakima died Saturday in Yakima.

She was raised on a family farm in Timberlake, S.D., and later moved to Prosser. She worked in hops and apples, and later as an assistant and manager of a Yakima Valley dental office.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Gabby Schweers; a son, Phil Mieras; a brother, Mike Scherr; a sister, Mary Jones; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A rosary service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Moxee. Burial mass will also be there at 11 a.m. Thursday, with a burial following at the Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Keith & Keith Funeral Home.

Albert A. Fife

Albert Alexander Fife, 72, of Yakima died Saturday.

Mr. Fife was born in Yakima. He served in the armed forces and as a Washington State Patrol trooper.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Fife of Yakima; two daughters, Joni Marie Goodrich of Yakima and Lori Ann Lantis of Moxee; three brothers, Fredrick Fife of Austin, Texas, and Donald Fife and Butch Fife, both of Tacoma; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima.

Karen L. Duncan

Karen L. Duncan, 50, of Ellensburg died Friday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

Mrs. Duncan was born in Louisville, Ky., and was raised in Everett, Wash. She moved to Ellensburg in 1980. She worked for Safeway stores in Yakima, Cle Elum and Ellensburg before working for the Ellensburg School District's food service.

Survivors include two sons, Eric and Jesse Duncan, both of Ellensburg; a brother, Tom Kerr of Everett; and a sister, Stacey Kautz of Selah.

A celebration of life gathering will be private. Arrangements are by Affordable Funeral Care.

Margaret L. Lewis

Margaret "Peggy" Lillian Lewis, 81, of Yakima died March 29 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.

Mrs. Lewis was born in Yakima and raised in Ellensburg. She worked as a school lunch cook for Yakima School District, mainly at Eisenhower High School.

Survivors include her husband, Glenn Lewis of Yakima; a daughter, Pamela Lewis of San Jose, Calif.; a son, Jeffery Lewis of Issaquah, Wash.; a sister, Patricia Thomson of Clovis, Calif.; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. April 17 at Orchard Park Retirement Home. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Ramon Maldonado-Lopez

Ramon Maldonado-Lopez, 53, of Buena died Sunday in Yakima.

Mr. Maldonado-Lopez was born in Michoacán, Mexico, and worked as a laborer on local farms.

Survivors include his wife, Socorro Maldonado-Rosales; two sons, Mario Maldonado and Victor Maldonado; and a daughter, Alma Maldonado.

Private family services will be held. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Zillah.

Troy Alan Wilton, 26, of Yakima died Friday. He was born in Yakima and worked as a surveyor.

Survivors include his father, Donald Wilton of Yakima; his mother, Sara Burton of Moxee; two brothers, Bradley Wilton of Yakima and Brian Wilton of Moxee; and his companion, Christine Reed of Yakima.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. Burial will follow in Tahoma Cemetery.

Kelly G. Casey, 51, of Yakima died Friday.

Mr. Casey was born in Lubbock, Texas. He worked in the arts and science division of Yakima Valley Community College as a physics instructor.

Survivors include his wife, Mitzi Case of Yakima; a brother, Robert Casey of Richardson, Texas; and a sister, Jane Casey of Pittsburgh, Pa.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wesley United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Keith and Keith Funeral Home.

Robert "Bob" Jacob Martin, 88, of Sunnyside died Sunday.

Mr. Martin was born in Sunnyside and raised in the Green Valley area. He lived in Seattle and Portland before returning to Prosser. He was a farmer.

Survivors include two daughters, Eileen J. Martin-Voss of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Leta Burns of Spokane; a son, Arnold Martin of Sunnyside; his companion, Dorothea "Dot" Beck; four sisters, Helen Price, Kathie Johnson and Alice "Lizy" Prescott, all of Sunnyside, and Betty Booher of Port Angeles, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Viewing and visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service, 10 a.m., Saturday at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Burial to follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.
