Dr. Roy Louis Mueller DDS
Husband, father, friend and loved one, Dr. Roy Louis Mueller DDS, 90, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 27th, 2010, succumbing to injuries sustained in a recent auto accident.

Born in 1920 to Benjamin and Agnes Mueller, Roy, along with his twin brother Ray and older sister Frances, grew up in Sedro-Woolley, WA. An outstanding athlete, he excelled in multiple sports during high school. Following graduation, he entered Washington State College in Pullman and joined the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Shortly after Pearl Harbor, Roy enlisted in the Navy, where he performed duties as a Gunner's Mate aboard the USS Vella Gulf in the Pacific theater. After World War II, Roy completed dental school at the University of Oregon and began a career as an oral surgeon with the newly formed Air Force, serving through Korea and Vietnam. Along the way, Roy was fortunate enough to meet Patricia Schwaegler on the slopes of Sun Valley, ID and wisely married her in 1956, and together, in Ankara (Turkey), Kansas, California and ultimately Selah, WA, they raised six beautiful children; Denise, Ben, Barbara, Louis, Martha and Leon.

After retiring in 1970 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel with 33 years of service to his country, he set up a private practice in Yakima.

Roy was a devoted husband and family man. He loved the outdoors and was an accomplished fisherman and hunter, roaming the hills of Washington with his good friend Dick Thomas and their ever faithful dogs. He instilled a love of sports, reading, poetry, fairness and family values amongst all his children. And for 53 years, he did so with his wife and best friend Patsy by his side. His accomplishments in life are too numerous to mention here, but his wife and children treasure them in their hearts, and continue to proudly live out his lasting legacy.

Roy is survived by his loving wife Patsy, who having sustained injuries in the same accident, is currently recovering in Seattle. His children Denise (Jon); Ben (Beth); Barbara (John); Louis (Julie); Martha (George) and Leon (Rika) along with 13 grandchildren continue to support their mother and grandmother. He is also survived by his sister Frances Gunderson. The family will have a memorial service at a later date in Yakima, following Patsy's recovery. The date and time will be announced in the future.

Dad, may you forever rest in peace, harbored in paradise.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later worked as a surveyor in the Seattle area. In 1999, Jerry retired to Lyle. Mr. Woods loved camping, hunting and fishing. Philip D. Keller

Philip D. Keller, 58, loving husband, devoted father and loyal friend to many, died unexpectedly on September 27, 2010.

A life-time resident of Yakima, Phil went to be with the Lord Monday morning, leaving behind a legacy of good deeds, strong compassion for others, and his engaging smile, unforgettable to anyone he encountered.

Those who met Phil became his friend for life. He loved to laugh and always had time to talk, especially about sports. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Washington Huskies football. While he enjoyed various types of music he especially loved jazz artist Dave Koz. You could not go anywhere in the Valley with him and not run into friends of his. He loved to tease and always had a joke to tell. He was someone you could always count on when you needed help or a sympathetic listener. His death leaves a large hole in his immediate and extended family.

Phil was born in Yakima on June 23, 1952, the fourth child of Elroy and Gwen Keller. He joined older brother, Gordon, and two sisters, LeAnne and Kay. Later he became big brother to Stan.

After graduation from West Valley High School in 1971, Phil began a life-long involvement in the fruit industry. He was involved in the Keller family orchard and warehouse until 1984. He spent the last 20 years employed by H.R. Spinner, where his cheerfulness and dedication to his work made him an outstanding employee.

Phil met his wife Elaine Edwards in the spring of 1980; they were married on March 28, 1981 in Yakima. For him it was not a cliche that when you marry your wife you also marry her family. On August 17, 1983, Phil and Elaine became the proud parents of twin boys, Jonathan and Bradley. Together, they faced the loss of Bradley on November 17, 1983. They became proud parents again with the birth of Matthew on August 15, 1988. Phil took great pride and joy in the accomplishments of all of his family, and especially those of his sons and wife. He felt that the most important thing he could do is spend time with them.

He was preceded in death by his son Bradley and his father-n-law, Alvin Edwards. He is survived by his wife Elaine, sons Jon and Matt, parents Elroy and Gwen Keller, mother-in-law Kathy Edwards, brothers Gordon Keller and Stanley Keller, sisters LeAnne (Ron) Koliha and Kay (Mike) Hadley, brother-in-law Jim Edwards, and sisters-in-law Lorre (Jerry) Gefre and Janet (Brent) Jones. He also leaves behind six nephews and six nieces.

A celebration of Phil's life will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 4th at West Valley Church of the Nazarene, 7109 W Nob Hill Boulevard.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in his name be made to Children's Wishes and Dreams of Yakima.
