Harry Calvin Barker Jr.
No service has been reported for Sequim resident Harry Calvin Barker Jr., who died April 12, 2006, at the age of 81. He was born March 6, 1925, in Thermopolis, Wyo., to Virginia Lee (Simpson) and Harry Calvin Barker Sr. He served in the Army during World War II as a field medic, achieving the rank of sargeant. He married Margaret Snedden on May 2, 1953. He was a former resident of Jackson Hole, Wyo. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Barker; sons Steve and Bill Barker; daughters Ann Harman and Kathi Davis; and five grandchildren. James R. Foster
A celebration of life will be held at a later date for Port Angeles resident James R. Foster, who died April 13, 2006, at the age of 67. He was born Feb. 14, 1939, in Los Angeles, Calif., to George W. and Claire P. (Mackey) Foster. He served in the United States Navy from 1957-61. He married Patricia Wasankari on June 4, 1961, in Seattle. Mr. Foster worked in construction in California, Alaska, and Washington. He retired from Angeles Concrete in 2002 and was a member of Operating Engineers. He enjoyed working on classic cars and taking long walks with his wife and his dog, Mack. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Foster of Port Angeles; sons and daughters-in-law James R. and Deanna Foster of Canyon Country, Calif.; and Darren M. and Nora Foster of Klamath Falls, Ore.; parents George and Claire Foster; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Marie Foster of Mooresville, N.C.; sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Bob Spontak of Bridgeville, Penn.; and four grandchildren. George Humphries Irwin Jr.
A service will be held at a later date for Sequim resident George Humphries Irwin Jr., who died April 8 at the age of 84. He was born May 31, 1921, in Detroit, Mich., to Edna Crawford (Parker) George H. Irwin Sr. He graduated from Lakewood High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Case Western Reserve University. He also earned a Master of Science degree from Case Western University School of Library Science. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as a lieutenant in the South Pacific. He married Gloria Chapman on Jan. 4, 1943. He was an industrial engineer and media specialist. He lived in Ohio, Kansas, California and Sequim. He was a member of Sequim Community Church. He was a skilled silversmith and chairman of the building commission for the first building on the Fifth Avenue campus of Sequim Community Church. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Irwin of Sequim; son and daughter-in-law Heather and George H. Irwin III of Port Angeles; and daughter Sandra Anne Irwin of Alberta, Canada. Jim E. Lackey
No service has been reported for Sequim resident Jim E. Lackey, who died April 6, 2006, at the age of 78. He was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Sunnyside, to Ralph Edgar and Clara Bernice (Delaney) Lackey. He married Margarita G. (Garcia) Lackey on Dec. 2, 1989, in Port Angeles. He retired from the Clallam County Public Utility District. Mr. Lackey was very interested in genealogy and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Margarita Lackey; sons Jon Lackey of Falls Church, Va.; and David Lackey of Seattle; daughter Janet Hamlon of San Marcos, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Gwin May
A family memorial service will be held in July for Sequim resident Gwin May, who died March 28, 2006, at the age of 94. She was born March 26, 1912, in Hyde Park, Chicago, to William and Hazel (Bates/Halliday) Sidebotham. She attended Hyde Park High School. She married Joseph Donald May on Sept. 1, 1934, in Chicago. They lived in Indiana, Ohio, Florida and Washington, D.C. After World War II, they moved to Delphi, Ind., where she was a very active Girl Scout volunteer, played bridge and was a member of a book club, the local country club and Tri Kappa sorority. In 1951, the couple moved to Burbank, Calif., where she became interested in china painting, developed a mail order china painting pattern business and became a member of the International China Painting Teachers Organization. She participated in a number of the organization's shows. After her husband died, she lived in Mountain View, Calif., from 1986-1994. In Mountain View, she made many friends; played bridge; and took community college courses. In 1994, she moved to the Fifth Avenue Retirement Center in Sequim, where she lived for the past 12 years. She enjoyed a great variety of art, sewing and needlework projects over the years, including oil, pastel, and watercolor painting, hand-sewn cloth dolls and doll clothes, silk ribbon embroidery and quilting. In 2003, she became a member of the local Michael Trebert chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law David and Patricia May of Sequim; daughter and son-in-law Judy and John Sisk of Palo Alto, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a nephew; and two nieces.

Edith K. North
A service has been held for former Sequim resident Edith Katerina North, who died March 26, 2006, at the age of 88. She was born March 6, 1918, in Dedham, Mass., to Ernest and Edith Illemann. She married William B. North on Feb. 26,1944, in Hollywood, Calif. She was a lifetime member of the African Violet Society. She and her husband square danced and enjoyed riding bikes. They spent their last days together in Sequim. They enjoyed traveling to the Scandinavian countries and places in the United States. Mrs. North is survived by her daughters Val Wade, of Moses Lake, and Ellen Schoenfeldt, of Port Angeles; sister Lillian McGrane; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a nephew; and two nieces.

Brian Lee Taylor
A funeral Mass for Port Angeles resident Brian Lee Taylor will be celebrated at 1 p.m. April 26 at Queen of Angels Church, 209 W. 11th St., Port Angeles. Mr. Taylor died April 22 at the age of 59. He was born Feb. 11, 1947, in Bremerton to Clarence Dean and Martina Antoinette (Reinert) Taylor. He graduated from high school at Seattle Preparatory in 1965. He served in the United States Navy from Sept. 19, 1966, until his honorable discharge on May 21, 1970. He achieved the rank of staff sergeant, E-5, with the specialty of sonar technician and radio disc jockey for the ships he served on, the USS Blandy and USS Mitscher. He served in Vietnam. Mr. Taylor attended Seattle University and Shoreline Community College, majoring in marine biology and earned an associate of arts degree in sales management from City College. He was a licensed optician in Washington since 1977. He worked at Special Eyes and Angeles Vision, both of Port Angeles. He married Elizabeth Thompson on Aug. 21, 1992, in Deer Park. Mr. Taylor enjoyed computers, reading, music, writing, photography, wildlife conservation, environmental conservation, art appreciation and sketching. He was past president of St. Vincent DePaul and past grand knight of James Caldwell Council, Queen of Angeles’ Knights of Columbus; secretary of Nor’Wester Rotary, and a precinct committee officer of Clallam County. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Taylor; stepson and daughter-in-law Kurt and Ann Kenney of Kirkland; daughters and sons-in-law Mara and Cory Brown of Federal Way and Jenna and Brian Sweet of Bonney Lake; stepdaughter and son-in-law Karen and Hugh Moore of Spokane; sisters and brothers-in-law Paula and David Wright of North Bend and Karen and David Sauve of Renton; and five grandchildren. Christine Candelaria Pruitt
A funeral Mass for Port Angeles resident Christine Candelaria Pruitt will be celebrated at 11 a.m. April 27 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 209 W. 11th St., Port Angeles. Mrs. Pruitt died April 21 at the age of 91. She was born Jan. 11, 1915. A full obituary will appear in a later edition. Drennan Ford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Edna May Bornhoeft
A memorial and celebration of life for Sequim resident Edna May Bornhoeft will be held at 1 p.m. April 28 at Paradise Restaurant, 703 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim. Mrs. Bornhoeft died April 17 at the age of 90. She was born May 8, 1915, in Portland, Ore., to Oscar Eugene and Edna May (Johnson) Dennis. She attended grade school at Little Michigan in Blyn and later in Sequim. She attended high school in Portland. She spent most of her life in the Blyn and Sequim area. She married Joseph Correia in 1932 and lived on the family homestead in Blyn. They had a daughter, Jeanette. Mr. Correia died in a logging accident in October 1933. She later married James Correia, who preceded her in death in 1960. They had a son, Richard. She married George Mullvaney in 1962. They divorced in 1968. She married Harry Bornhoeft in 1973. He preceded her in death in 1978. A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved being with family as much as possible. Sunday dinner was a must. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden and was an excellent seamstress and cook. Besides her love of entertaining family and friends, she also enjoyed music and dancing. Later in her life, she traveled worldwide with family and friends. Mrs. Bornhoeft managed the state liquor store in Sequim for 18 years. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4760 Ladies Auxiliary in Sequim; Sequim High School Booster Club; and Rainbow and Demolay Mothers clubs. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jeanette and Don Mudd; and daughter-in-law Jean Correia, all of Port Angeles; brother Everett Dennis of Toledo, Ore.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and two step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Richard Correia and brothers Franz, Loyde, Melvin, and Wesley Dennis. Sharon Paulette Scott

Lydia Mabel Bradshaw
No service has been reported for Sequim resident Lydia Mabel Bradshaw, who died April 18 at the age of 89. She was born April 26, 1916, in Ryder, N.D., to Thorvald and Petra Andersen (Prestbraaten) Ringdahl. She married Joseph W. Gavett on March 27, 1935, in Minot, N.D. He preceded her in death in 1952. She married Darrel Bradshaw on July 29, 1959. He preceded her in death in 2002. She is survived by her stepson Dean Bradshaw of Bellevue; son-in-law Henry Case of Northwood, N.D.; stepdaughter Bonnie Statezni of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister-in-law Marian Ringdahl of Minot, N.D.; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter Alice Case; brothers Adolph Ringdahl, Thoralph Ringdahl and William Ringdahl; and sisters Palma Moscato and Lilly Brown. Rose Marie Chace
No service has been reported for Sequim resident Rose Marie Chace, who died April 19 at the age of 84. She was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Monongah, W. Va., to John and Annette (Palomba) DeCarlo. She married Kenneth Chace on July 20, 1943. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2004. Mrs. Chace was an avid bowler and baseball fan. She is survived by her sons Rob Chace of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Fred Chace of Edmonds, and Kenneth Chace Jr. of Nisqually; daughter Pat Collodi of Renton; brothers Mike DeCarlo of Fayetteville, N.C., and Fred DeCarlo of Dayton, Ohio; sister Virginia Stanley of Glenburnie, Md.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Bryan Wendell Johnson
No service has been reported for Port Angeles resident Bryan Wendell Johnson, who died April 14, 2006, at the age of 65. He was born Oct. 6, 1940, in Point Roberts to Sigurd and Margaret (Tipping) Johnson. He served in the Navy as a machinist’s mate from 1957-61. He became a member of the International Association of Machinists and retired as a marine machinist. A former Seattle resident, he moved to the North Olympic Peninsula in 2001. He enjoyed watching cooking shows on television and fishing. He is survived by his brothers and sister-in-law Ivan D. and Rosina Johnson and Douglas Johnson; and sisters Chris Spirz and Shirley Tehan; two nephews and one niece. Olympic Cremation Association in Port Angeles was in charge of arrangements.

Viki Maley-Harris
A service has been held for Sequim resident Viki Maley-Harris, who died April 15, 2006, at the age of 49 of breast cancer. She was born July 24, 1956, in Chanute, Ill., to Ralph Roy and Betty (Atteberry) Rindal. She married Scott Harris in Sequim on April 16, 2005. She was divorced from Tom Maley in 2003. Mrs. Maley-Harris earned a health care assistant certificate and was medical receptionist at the Sequim Physicians Clinic. Raised on a ranch in Montana, she also spent a long stay with her mother at her home. She enjoyed spinning her own yarn and knitting. She was active for many years with the Boy Scouts. She also enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Scott Harris of Sequim; sons Cory, Ben and Sean Maley, of Sequim, and stepson Paul Mattox of Creston; daughter Christina Webb of Ft. Lewis; parents Betty Rindal of Temple, Texas; Ralph Rindal of Lewiston, Mont.; and Betty and Roger Satrom of Tanascut; brothers Phil Rindal of Glasgow, Scotland; Scot Rindal of Carson City, Nev.; Angus Rindal of Sheppard, Mont.; and Olin Rindal of Roundup, Mont.; sisters Lori Adams of Townsend, Mont.; Jodi Lane-Vasques of Temple, Texas; and one grandchild. Stanley James McNeil
A private family service will be held for Port Angeles resident Stanley James McNeil, who died April 15 at the age of 76. He was born March 29, 1930, in Seattle to Alexander Sharpe and Sadie Gale (Siegmund) McNeil. He married Michelanne Richardson on March 27, 1982, in Tacoma. He served in the Air Force from 1948-52, as an airman first class. He worked in retail management in Seattle, Tacoma and Glendale, Ariz., before settling in Port Angeles. He was a member of the Elks. He is survived by his wife, Michelanne “Mickey” McNeil; son Mark McNeil of Whidbey Island; daughters Lorraine McNeil of Sumner and Gail McNeil of Tacoma; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.. Athalia C. Shaughnessy
No services has been reported for Athalia C. Shaughnessy, who died April 21 at the age of 85. She was born Aug. 27, 1920, in Buhl, Minn., to Joseph and Marie (Bejeault) Huffer. She married Neil Workman, who preceded her in death. She later married Ed Shaughnessy. They later divorced. She recently moved to Port Angeles from Honolulu, Hawaii. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, word scrabbles and flowers. She is survived by her son Leonard Workman of Grand Rapids, Mich.; daughters and son-in-law Janice Card of Bovey, Minn., and Joyce and Bob Zakrajsek of Port Angeles; brother and sister-in-law Bud and Eunice Huffer of Bovey, Minn.; sister-in-law Charlotte Huffer of Milwaukee, Wis.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Carl Edward Stubbs
No service has been reported for Sequim resident Carl Edward Stubbs, who died April 18 at the age of 94. He was born Sept. 11, 1911, in Roseburg, Ore., to Richard and Letitia (Hammond) Stubbs. He married Helen Ruth Beck on Aug. 26, 1932, in Grants Pass, Ore. She preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 1995. He worked as a stationary fireman for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He is survived by his daughter Mary Anne Campbell of Sequim; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters Maude Stone and Flora Jordan of California and son-in-law James B. Campbell of Sequim. Sequim Valley Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Betheen Wadsworth
A service has been held for Sequim resident Betheen Wadsworth, who died April 18 at the age of 81. She was born May 3, 1924, in Oakley, Idaho, to Mary Lucile (Pettegrew) and Albert H. Hale Jr. She married Eugene D. Wadsworth on Feb. 7, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a high school graduate and took college classes by correspondence while living in Alaska. She lived in Seldovia, Alaska, from 1945-1965. She then moved to Kodiak, Alaska, where she lived until she moved to Sequim in 1970. In Alaska, she was a substitute teacher and worked in commercial fishing. She was a homesteader and lived in five log homes her husband built. Mrs. Wadsworth was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a former Relief Society president and early morning seminary teacher. She enjoyed painting in acrylics and was a seamstress, knitter and gardener. She is survived by her husband, Gene “Whitey” Wadsworth; son and daughter-in-law Ray and Jane Wadsworth, all of Sequim; brother David Alma Hale; sisters Rosemary, Helen, Margaret and Martha Mary; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers Albert Pettegrew Hale and Ernest Arthur Hale; and sisters Verla Neoma Hale; Erma Lucile Hale; Gwen Hale; and Mozelle Hale. Joseph Guy Del Judge
A funeral Mass for Sequim resident Joseph Guy Del Judge will be celebrated at 1 p.m. May 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim, Mr. Del Judge died April 29, 2006, at the age of 85. He was born Nov. 10, 1920, in Detroit, Mich., to Guy David and Angela Maria (Ciprari) Del Judge. He moved to Hollywood, Calif., as a teenager and lived in Canoga Park, Calif. for 26 ½ years. He married Virginia Elizabeth Allin in North Hollywood, Calif. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines. He graduated from Hollywood High School, Los Angeles City College and the University of Southern California. He worked for McDonnell-Douglas building airplanes and was an inspector supervisor for the city of Los Angeles for 32 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Sequim Elks. He was a member of Grand Knight and Fourth Degree/Knights of Columbus. He started the Grand Knight Council in Sequim. He served on the Sequim and Clallam County planning commissions and helped start the Boys & Girls Club in Sequim. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Del Judge, of Sequim; son Eric Del Judge, of Granada Hills, Calif.; daughters and son-in-law Julia Del Judge, of Stanton, Calif., and Jane and Andy Sallee, of Sequim; brother Fred Del Judge of Oceanside, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Robert Frederick Walkhoff
A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. May 9 for Sequim resident Robert Frederick Walkhoff. Mr. Walkhoff died April 20, 2006, at the age of 53 after an industrial accident. He was born Aug. 12, 1952, in Tacoma to Norman Harold and Doris (Smith) Walkhoff. He was self-employed and loved to work on his properties and spend time with his family. He enjoyed garage sales and searching for deals. He enjoyed recycling copper, aluminum, and brass with his daughter, Sari. He is survived by his lifelong companion Shirley Baublits of Sequim; son Bobby Walkhoff of Seattle; daughter Sari Kristi Lynn Walkhoff of Sequim; brother Mike Walkhoff of Sheridan, Ore.; and sister Linda Curry of Huson, Mont. Barbara Avery
A celebration of life for Sequim resident Barbara Avery will be held at 11 a.m. May 14 at 72 Avellana Road, Sequim. Mrs. Avery died April 27, 2006, at the age of 80. She was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Portland, Ore., to George A. and Mary Lois (McKelvey) Monner. She married Wallace L. Avery on July 14, 1999, in Sequim. A homemaker and real estate salesperson, she lived in San Francisco and Sacramento, Calif., Seattle, and Sequim. She loved to fish and cook. She was a member of Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church and Peninsula Friends of Animals. She is survived by her husband, Wallace L. Avery of Sequim; sons and daughters-in-law Stephen E. and Jessica Johnson of San Francisco, Calif.; and Barry A. and Anne Johnson of Poulsbo; daughters and sons-in-law Wendy M. and Mark Nelson of Monroe and Stacey and Harlan Smith of Terrebone, Ore.; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Janet Fanning Seward
An open house to celebrate the life of Sequim resident Janet Fanning Seward will be held at 1:30 p.m. May 20 at 253 Madrona Terrace, Sequim,. Mrs. Seward died April 19, 2006, at the age of 82. She was born April 13, 1924, in Lawrence, Mass., to John and Amy (Bourdelais) Kayley. She married Arthur Seward on April 3, 1982. She was an executive secretary for TRW at the time of her retirement. She lived in Sequim since 1991. She enjoyed taking care of neighbors’ pets and was an avid reader and loyal Mariners fan. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Seward; stepsons Philip Seward, of Kirkland, and Sidney Seward, of Riverside, La.; stepdaughter Karen Hall, of San Bernardino, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. Hazel E. Baar
No service has been reported for Port Angeles resident Hazel E. Baar, who died April 24, 2006, at the age of 82. She was born Dec. 16, 1919, in Raceland, Iowa, to Herbert E. and Lucia (Baudsin) France. She married Dee R. Baar in 1941. Mrs. Baar loved playing bingo and taking bus trips to Reno, Nev., with her friends. She is survived by her sons Del R. Baar and Charles H. Baar of Port Angeles; daughter Ethel Groves, of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. An online memorial guest book for the family is available at www.drennanford.com. Drennan & Ford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
