Alice Townsend
CATHCART - Alice Marie S. Townsend, 85, died June 11, 2000.
She was born April 4, 1915, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She moved to the Ballard area when she was about 5. In 1923, she settled on a farm in Cathcart, and eventually lived her final years there.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 17, at Bauer Funeral Chapel in Snohomish. A private burial will be held at the Okanogan Cemetery.

Mildred Wilburn
Mildred A. Wilburn, 87, Omak, died at Valley Care Center in Okanogan June 12, 2000.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, at the Omak Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jim Fiedler officiating.
Memorials are suggested to DeRouge Orthopedic Group, Omak Presbyterian Church, or any charity.
Precht-Harrison Chapel, Omak, is in charge of arrangements.

Calvin W. Carden
Calvin "Hoss" W. Carden, 59, Omak, died Aug. 8, 2000 at the Mid-Valley Hospital, Omak.
He was born Sept. 28, 1940, in Monse to Russell and Cecelia (Louie) Carden. He worked for Precision Pine Lumber Co. as a loader operator.
Rosary was held Aug. 10 and services Aug. 11 at the Omak Community Center.
Barnes Elmway Chapel, Okanogan, was in charge of arrangements.

Velma Sutorius
Velma Irene Robbins Sutorius, 96, died July 9, 2000 at Greenwood Park Care Center, Seattle.
She was born Dec. 8, 1903, in Blowing Rock, N.C., to T.W. and Julia Coffey Robbins. At age 3 she moved with her family to Omak. They settled on Pogue Flat.
The family will hold a graveside memorial at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Okanogan City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Children's Hospital, Seattle, or any charity.

William Legg
William Edward "Bill" Legg, 70, died Aug. 9, 2000 at his home in Okanogan from cancer.
He was born Sept 15, 1929, in Kittitas, and was one of 11 children of Herbert H. and Ileen (Hyder) Legg.
Following cremation he will be buried in the Ellensburg Cemetery with a graveside service set for 2 p.m. Saturday Aug. 26.
A remembrance potluck will be planned in Okanogan County.

Sharon M. Birge
Sharon M. Birge, 59, Okanogan, died Sept. 28, 2000 at Mid-Valley Hospital, Omak.
She was born Jan. 31, 1941, in Everett to Gerald and Grace (Rennie) Birge and moved to the Omak-Okanogan area about eight years ago.
Services will be held later.
Barnes Elmway Chapel, Okanogan, is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Giddens
TONASKET - Evelyn V. Giddens, Tonasket, died Oct. 2, 2000 in Spokane.
She was born in Wilbur March 31, 1932, and lived 60 of her 68 years in Okanogan County.
A memorial service and lunch were held by the Eagles Auxiliary 3002 of Tonasket Oct. 10.

Greta Knorr
Greta Irena Rhodes Knorr, 93, died at her home Oct. 8, 2000.
She was born Oct. 5, 1907, to Craig and Annie Bradley Rhodes in Breckenridge, Colo. Her father worked in various gold mines surrounding Breckenridge; her mother often pushed the baby carriage down the mountain roads to town to visit her family.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Colville Tribal Convalescent Center. Interment will be in the family plot at Breckenridge, Colo.

Ruth Coon
Longtime Omak resident Ruth Coon, 77, died Oct. 8, 2000.
She was born July 21, 1923, in Danube, Minn., to Arthur and Adeline Nyquist. She married Walter B. Coon May 12, 1956, in Billings, Mont. Together they owned the Omak Camera Store until retirement.
A memorial open house will be held from 3-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the Coon residence, 237 Lime, Omak.
Memorials are suggested to the Omak Public Library or Children's Hospital, Seattle.

Edward J. Smith
Edward J. Smith, 85, Okanogan, died Sept. 29, 2000 at Mid-Valley Hospital, Omak.
He was born July 28, 1915, in Kansas to John and Ana (Herzog) Smith.
Services were Oct. 4 at Barnes Elmway Chapel, Okanogan.

Robert Fridell
Former Omak resident Robert Fridell died Oct. 5, 2000.

Norman North
Norman North, Brewster, 74, died Oct. 7, 2000 at Mid-Valley Hospital, Omak.
He was born July 10, 1926, in Richmond, Calif., to Grace (Waggoner) and Ralph North. At 6 months of age he moved with his parents and two older brothers to Paradise Hill near Brewster, where he lived until he entered the U.S. Navy Armed Guard in World War II.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 11, at Barnes Elmway Chapel with the Rev. Don Roper officiating. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
Interment will be at the Omak Memorial Cemetery.

Steve W. Latham
BURLINGTON - Steve W. Latham, 51, died Oct. 2, 2000 at the Veterans Hospital in Seattle after a long battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
Funeral services were Oct. 7 at Allen-Blanchard United Methodist Church in Bow. Interment followed in the Bayview Cemetery under the direction of Hulbush Funeral Home, Burlington.

H. Leonard Berg
Harold Leonard Berg, 71, Okanogan, died Nov. 23, 2000 in Spokane from complications following heart surgery.
He was born in Wenatchee May 20, 1929 to Edward and Gertrude Berg, and was raised on an apple orchard in Ardenvoir. He was the youngest of seven children, and the first one in his family to be born in a hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Omak Presbyterian Church.

Larry Gendron
SPOKANE - Floyd Lawrence "Larry" Gendron, 51, Spokane, a former Nespelem and Grand Coulee resident, died Nov. 15, 2000 at his home in Spokane.
He was born May 5, 1949, in Nespelem to Floyd and Maybelle (LaCourse) Gendron. He grew up in the Nespelem-Grand Coulee area and graduated from Grand Coulee High School in 1967.
Rosary was Nov. 21 in the Nespelem Community Center with Mass of Christian burial there Nov. 22 with the Revs. Bob Erickson and Dick Mercy presiding. Concluding graveside services at the Nespelem Catholic Cemetery.
Precht-Harrison Chapel, Omak, was in charge of arrangements.

Roy L. Kumm
BREWSTER - Roy L. Kumm, 85, a longtime resident of Winthrop, died Nov. 21, 2000 at Harmony House Health Care Center, Brewster.
He was born April 24, 1915, to Frank J. and Lillie (Sizemore) Kumm in Beaver, Ore. His family moved to the Methow Valley when he was a small child, and he attended McKinney Mountain School. He then worked on the family farm.
Services were Nov. 25 at the Winthrop Barn, followed by private interment. Memorials are suggested to the Aero-Methow Rescue or to the Guild House at Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee.
Arrangements were by Barnes Chapel, Brewster.

Richard Davis
WINTHROP - Memorial services for Richard J. "Slug" Davis, 77, will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at the Winthrop Barn.
Mr. Davis died Nov. 25, 2000 at his Winthrop home with family and friends at his side.
A luncheon for family and friends will follow the service at the barn. A brief prayer service will be at 1 p.m. for those who wish to participate. Gregg Oliver will conduct the prayer service.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Winthrop Veterinary Service, c/o Betsy Devin-Smith, 19100 Highway 20, Winthrop 98862, for animals in need of help.
Precht's Methow Valley Chapel, Twisp, was in charge of arrangements.

Winnie A. Brantner
Winnie A. Brantner, 92, Okanogan, died Nov. 25, 2000 at Mid-Valley Hospital, Omak.
He was born July 8, 1908, in North Salem, Mo., to Lee Roy and Lillie (Coffman) Brantner. He married June Bear Sept. 23, 1947.
Services will be held at a later date.
Barnes Elmway Chapel, Okanogan, is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond Sutton
Raymond L. Sutton, 82, Omak, died Jan. 23, 2001 at his home in Omak.
He was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Snyder, Texas.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Precht-Harrison Chapel, Omak, was in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis Davis
After an extended illness Phyllis E. Gullion Davis, 72, died at the home of her daughter Jan. 20, 2001, with her family nearby.
She was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Dallas, Texas, to Orville and Nancy (Relaford) Gullion. The family moved from Texas to Center, Colo., where they lived until moving to Omak in 1945 because of her father's health.
A memorial service will be held later. Memorials are suggested to Our House Cancer Center, Wenatchee.

Herman Harrison
TONASKET - Herman Allen Harrison, 63, Tonasket, died Jan. 18, 2001 at Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee, following an illness.
He was born May 30, 1937, in Wesley, Ark., to Audie Ray and Erma Harrison. He moved to the Okanogan area in 1956 and married Sharon R. Rohrer in Okanogan May 5, 1962.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Okanogan Grange.
Concluding services will be held in the spring.

Neta MacDonald
EAST WENATCHEE - Omak native Neta MacDonald, 58, East Wenatchee, died Jan. 22, 2001 at Central Washington Hospital, Wenatchee.
She was born March 5, 1942, in Omak. She attended Chelan High School, then college in the Omak-Okanogan area, working toward her LPN in nursing.
Funeral service was Jan. 26 at Precht-Harrison Chapel, Omak. Memorials are suggested in care of Diane Campbell, 4480 Road Inn N.E., Moses Lake 98836, for help toward final expenses for Neta MacDonald.
Precht-Harrison Chapel, Omak, was in charge of arrangements.

Leota V. Ross
Leota V. Ross, 87, a 49-year resident of Okanogan, died Jan. 23, 2001 at her home.
She was born May 2, 1913, at Deerfield, Mo., to Elmer and Goldie (Reed) Hamlet. Her father died during the influenza epidemic of 1919, and the surviving family moved to Moscow, Idaho, in 1920. Her mother married E.D. Weeks.
A private memorial service will be held. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation or any charity.
Barnes Elmway Chapel, Okanogan, was in charge of arrangements.

Pamela Jo Martinez
Pamela Jo Martinez, 53, Okanogan, died Jan. 24, 2001 at her home.
She was born Dec. 31, 1947, in Bremerton. She lived in Wenatchee and had lived in the Okanogan Valley for 20 years.
Funeral services were held at the Okanogan Baptist Church Jan. 27 with the Rev. Tim McDonald officiating.
Barnes Elmway Chapel, Okanogan, was in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Schroder
SEDRO WOOLLEY - Hazel M. Leese Schroder, 90, Sedro Woolley, died Jan. 23, 2001 after a brief illness.
She was born April 29, 1910.
At her request no services will be held. Memorials may be sent to any charity.

Richard Haney
BEND, Ore. - Richard Curtis Haney, 76, died May 24, 2001 in Bend, Ore.
He was born March 18, 1925, in International Falls, Minn., the son of Frank and Grace (Heritage) Haney. His early education was in Ray, Minn., and he graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1954 as a forester.
A memorial service was May 2 at the First Lutheran Church, Bend. Memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association.
Autumn Funerals, Bend, was in charge of arrangements.

Ted Storm
A memorial service for Ted Storm will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 3, 2001, at the Sleepy Hollow Ranch.
A potluck will follow.
Mr. Storm, 66, Omak, died May 7 at Mid-Valley Hospital. Barnes Elmway Chapel, Okanogan, was in charge of arrangements.

Leota C. Davison
HILO, Hawaii - Former Okanogan County resident Leota C. (Smith) Davison, 95, died in her sleep April 27, 2001 at her home in the hills above Hilo, Hawaii.
She was born Jan. 29, 1906, in Kent, Ore.
Family and friends gathered to share memories in Riverside Park and Riverside Cemetery May 20. Memorials are suggested by planting and nurturing a flower in her name.

Edith Woodward
TACOMA - Edith Lodice Woodward, 92, a former resident of Omak, died May 17, 2001 at Tacoma General Hospital of a sudden illness.
She was born to Homer and Minnie Murphy Nov. 1, 1910, in Lynden, Kan. She married Charles Eugene Woodward May 8, 1926, in Ottawa, Kan. They had four boys and a girl.
Graveside services were May 23 at Fir Lane Cemetery, Spanaway.
