Richard G. Bair
CHELAN - Richard G. Bair, 65, of Chelan died June 17, 2003, at Lake Chelan Community Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 20, 1939, at Kellogg, Idaho, later moving with his family to Tonasket. He attended school there, graduating from Tonasket High School in 1955.
Services of commemoration were June 21 at the Precht-Rose Chapel with committal service and interment at the Tonasket City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
Services were under the direction of Precht Rose Chapel, Chelan.

William 'Wilber' Bidlen
A memorial service and potluck in memory of William “Wilber” Bidlen is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Conconully State Park.
Mr. Bidlen, 34, died April 8. He was born Jan. 26, 1969, in Omak to Larry and Nettie (Richie) Bidlen. A memorial service was held April 19 in Springfield, Ore.
His sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Frank Taylor, Eugene, Ore., will host the Conconully service.

Hubert Christianson
Hubert “Chris” Christianson, 75, died at Ashley Gardens in Mount Vernon June 24, 2003.
He was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Twisp to Sylvia and Harold Christianson, and was the eldest of three children. He attended school in Twisp until his senior year, when he joined the Navy. He was a member of his Navy unit's basketball team.
A memorial service is planned at noon Thursday, Aug. 7, at Zion Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Odessa. It would have been his 76th birthday, the family noted.

Mary Giacomini
Mary Giacomini, Omak, died July 20, 2003, in Omak.
She was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Sandwith, Cumbria, England, to Septimus and Hannah McKnight. She moved to Canada in 1926 and settled in Kamloops, B.C., with her family. They moved to Merritt, B.C., where she attended school.
A graveside ceremony celebrating her life was July 25 at the Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens.
Precht-Harrison Nearents Chapel, Okanogan, was in charge of arrangements.

Raymond Laroy Raub
SPOKANE - Former Brewster resident Raymond Laroy Raub, 65, died July 19, 2003 at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Spokane.
He was born May 5, 1938, in Grandview and moved to Brewster as a child, graduating from Brewster High School. After high school he enlisted in the Navy for eight years. He maintained a residence on the East Coast until his return to the Okanogan Valley.
A memorial service is planned at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Conconully State Park. The family invites everyone who knew him to attend and celebrate his life and say goodbye to a friend.
Food will be provided.

Chrissy Hutton
Chrissy Hutton, 70, died July 21, 2003, at her home in Tonasket.
She was born April 12, 1933, in Ellisforde to Narcisse Sr. and Cecelia (Manuel) Nicholson. She attended school at St. Mary's Mission and Marycliff Catholic School for Girls in Spokane, and then high school at Tonasket.
Rosary was July 23 and Mass was celebrated July 24 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Tonasket, with the Rev. Chuck Peterson officiating.
Interment was at the Ellisforde Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Northwest Kidney Foundation or the Catholic Church.
Bergh Funeral Service, Oroville, was in charge of arrangements.

Donald Robert Morgan
Donald (Don) Robert Morgan, 43, Hamilton, died July 21, 2003.
He was born in Brewster April 9, 1960, to William R. and Patricia P. Morgan. He grew up and attended school in Winthrop, graduating from Liberty Bell High School in 1979.
Funeral services were July 26 in the Liberty Bell High School gymnasium, followed by a firefighters' processional to Sullivan Cemetery in Winthrop. A potluck was held afterward.
Memorials are suggested to any local district fire department.

Al Fernyhough Jr.
Al Fernyhough Jr., 71, Okanogan, died July 23, 2003.
He was born March 14, 1932, in Seattle to Alfred J. and Evelyn C. Fernyhough, and grew up in Des Moines. He graduated from Highline High School in 1950.
A memorial was July 27 at the Okanogan Eagles Lodge. Memorials are suggested to the Okanogan Eagles cancer fund.

Mamie G. Randall
Mamie G. (Fuller) Randall, 89, Okanogan, died July 21, 2003, at Valley Care Center, Okanogan.
She was born April 23, 1914, to James W. and Iva (Forney) Fuller on Cummings Creek in Columbia County. She attended school at Marengo, Russell, and Waterman on the Tucannon.
Funeral services were July 24 at Valley View Memorial Park, Soap Lake. Memorials are suggested to the NRA, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation or any charity.
Scharbach's Columbia Funeral Chapel, 300 G St. S.E., Quincy, was in charge of arrangements.

Gilbert Desautel Sr.
Gilbert “The Warrior” Desautel Sr., 80, died at his home July 24, 2003, surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with cancer.
He was born July 20, 1923, in Omak to William and Louise (Tonasket) Desautel and attended Chemawa Indian School in Oregon.
Rosary was recited July 27 at the Nespelem Community Center and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 27 in the same location. Interment was in the Nespelem Catholic Cemetery.
Strate Funeral Home, Grand Coulee, was in charge of arrangements.

Gordon William Haase
Gordon William (Johnny) Haase, 55, died on his Harley July 21, 2003. His motorcycle struck a deer on Highway 20 west of Winthrop.
He was born March 7, 1948, to Shirley Palmer Haase and William (Sandy) Haase of Winthrop. He was a lifelong resident of the Methow Valley.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Winthrop Barn, with a potluck to follow.

Kenneth Cubbage
Kenneth Wayne Cubbage, 72, died Sept. 2, 2003.
He was born Nov. 24, 1930, and graduated from Okanogan High School in 1948. He spent much of his adult life in Parkland.
Graveside service was Sept. 8 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Tacoma, followed by a memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Parkland. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church endowment fund.

Rev. Joseph Shillcutt
Rev. Joseph Beverly Shillcutt, 90, Okanogan, died Sept. 26, 2003, at home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1912, in Springfield, Mo., to Rupert and Beverly Shillcutt.
Graveside services were Oct. 1 at the Okanogan City Cemetery.
Precht-Harrison Nearents Chapel, Okanogan, was in charge of arrangements.

Wesley Clinton Hadley
Wesley Clinton Hadley, 82, Okanogan, died Sept. 26, 2003 at his home.
He was born March 25, 1921, in Java, S.D., and was a cowboy all his life. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force, serving from 1942-45 during World War II. He retired as a carpenter.
A memorial service was Oct. 3 at Precht-Harrison Nearents Chapel, Okanogan. A memorial luncheon followed at the Eagles.
Precht-Harrison Nearents Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Henry Garr
Thomas Henry Garr, Omak, died Jan. 25, 2004 at home, in the arms of his wife and children after a long battle with prostate cancer.
A memorial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Garr home, 111 N. Weatherstone, for family and friends.
Memorials are suggested to Okanogan Regional Home Health and Hospice.

Constance Rider
Former Omak resident Constance C. Gunderson Rider, 90, died Jan. 17, 2004 at the home of her youngest daughter, Patricia L. Foushee, in West Linn, Ore.
She was born in Greybull, Wyo., July 15, 1913, to Oscar R. and Stella Urey Collier, and graduated from Sheridan High School, Sheridan Wyo., in 1932.
A memorial service will be held in July in Richland, where her ashes will be buried.

Doris ‘Dorie’ McCraigie
Doris “Dorie” McCraigie, 55, died in mid-January 2004.
She was born March 1, 1948, to John and Christine Lezard and grew up in the Omak area, where she lived for most of her life. She was a 1968 graduate of Fort Sill Indian School in Lawton, Okla., and of Trend Business College.

Eva Fridell
Former Omak resident and business operator Eva Fridell, 110, died March 20, 2004. She had lived in Sequim.
She was born May 27, 1893, in Vancouver, B.C., to George and Sarah Carlson Greenwood. She attended school through the ninth grade and was a self-taught scholar with a near-photographic memory, her family recalled.
A family memorial service is scheduled for May 1 in Kirkland. Burial was at Cedar Lawns Memorial Gardens, Redmond.

Betty J. Byrd
Betty J. Byrd, 73, Omak, died March 22, 2004.
She was born June 5, 1932, in Omak.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Edna Mildred Tarbert
Edna Mildred Tarbert, 90, Wenatchee, died April 1, 2004.
She was born April 24, 1913, near Okanogan, and was the youngest of 12 children of early pioneers Robert Henry Cook and Alice McNeely Cook.
A graveside funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 9, at the Omak Memorial Cemetery.
Precht-Harrison Nearents Chapel, Okanogan, is in charge of arrangements.

Leslie 'Les' L. Moses
Leslie "Les" L. Moses, 38, a longtime resident of Nespelem, died in Keller April 2, 2004.
He was born in Omak March 19, 1966, to Joe Waters and Sharon Palmanteer and was adopted at the age of 4 by Gabe and Yvonne Moses. He graduated in 1984 from Lake Roosevelt High School, where he wrestled and ran track.
Recitation of the rosary was April 6 at the Nespelem Community Center, and Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. today, April 7, at St. Mary's Mission near Omak.
Interment will follow at St. Mary's Mission Cemetery.
Strate Funeral Home, Grand Coulee, is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas L. Waters IV
Thomas L. "Tommy" Waters IV, 34, died in rural Stevens County March 31, 2004, as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born Dec. 4, 1969, to Thomas L. Waters III and Joanne (Marchand). He grew up and was educated in Nespelem and attended Lake Roosevelt High School.
A rosary and family gathering was April 3 at the Ronnie Marchand residence in Nespelem, public rosary and Seven Drum service were April 4 at the Nespelem Community Center. Mass and Seven Drum services were April 5 at the Nespelem Community Center.
Interment was in the Chief Joseph Cemetery, Nespelem.
Strate Funeral Home, Grand Coulee, was in charge of arrangements.

Jeremy Dokey Ives
Jeremy Dokey Ives, 20, Omak, died June 6 in Spokane of injuries suffered doing what he loved to do, bull riding.
He was injured during a bull riding event June 5 at the Tonasket
Founders Day Rodeo. He died early Sunday morning.
He attended and graduated from Omak High School and went on to Blue Mountain College in Pendleton, Ore.
He was the winner of the high school bull riding event. He also was bull riding champion of Washington state and Pendleton College champion. He won the regional finals in 2002 in bull riding.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially bull riding. He was a great athlete in all sports events, living his life to the fullest, said his family.
“It takes a whole village to raise one child,” said his family. “Jeremy was that one child. He had many family members and friends who were there to love and assist him. They were rewarded by his love and smiles.”
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Melvin and Stacy Ives of Omak; mother and stepfather, Connie and John Shaver of Grand Coulee; sisters Vanessa, Melissa and Sharon Ives, all of Omak; brothers Mose and Jess Ives of Omak; grandparents Bob and Marti Widdifield of Omak; grandfather Dick Peterson of Omak; grandparents Bill and Sharon Ives of Omak; great-grandmother Julianne Garrison of Omak, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Rosary services were June 8 at the Omak Longhouse. Mass will be at 10 a.m. today, June 9, at the Omak Longhouse, with interment in the St. Mary’s Mission Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested in his name at the Bank of America in Coulee Dam.
