Grand Chief Archie Jack was born Aug. 14, 1934 and passed away Aug. 3, 2005. He was father to Joleen (George) of Oklahoma, A.J. of San Diego, Shane of North Vancouver; grandpa to Cheyenne and G.W. of Oklahoma; dad to his nephew Mitch (Tracy) Jack and their children Chris, Allysa, Morisa and Colter.
Services were held Aug. 9, 2005 at 1 p.m., grand entry time at the Penticton Indian Reserve Ball Diamond. A wake was held at 7 p.m. Aug. 8, 2005, at Enowkin Centre, Green Mountain Road, Penticton, B.C.
Those who wish, may make donations to the Enowkin Centre, Penticton, B.C.

Donald Harvey Weddle
Wenatchee

Donald Harvey Weddle, 71, of Wenatchee, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2005, at his home while with his wife Kay after a courageous 2 year battle with leukemia.
A graveside service will be held at the Ellisforde Cemetery followed by a celebration of life at the Ellisforde Church of the Brethren on Wednesday, August 10th. Bergh Funeral Home of Oroville is in charge of arrangements.

Delbert Hazen (Bud) Rumsey
Malo

Delbert Hazen (Bud) Rumsey, age 89, of Malo, WA, passed away on August 21, 2005 at LyDell’s Adult Family Home in Republic. He was born on July 21, 1916, at Malo to Elver Wateman Rumsey and Lela Coil Rumsey. He was raised at Malo and Curlew, WA.
Services will be on Saturday, August 27, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Curlew School Gym. There will be a light lunch following the service and burial at the Curlew Cemetery.

Doris (Dot) L. Heneghen
Omak

“Dot” Doris (Dreis) Heneghen, of Omak, WA died August 16, 2005 unexpectedly in an auto accident. She was 68.
She was the wife of the late Anton Heneghen.
Mrs. Heneghen was born and raised in Raynham, MA.
A memorial service will be at the Cariboo Inn on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 3 p.m., the floor will be open for anyone who would like to share memories about Dot.

Norma J. (Powell) (Hathaway) Shove
Omak

Norma J. (Powell) Shove of Omak, Washington, passed away at Central Washington Hospital on August 15, 2005, after an extended illness. She was born to Jack and Blanche Powell in Neosho, Missouri, on September 3, 1936.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2005, at the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church in Omak located on Riverside Drive and Locust Street. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in memory of Norma to the American Diabetes Association or the American Neuropathy Association.
Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Gladys D. Quackenbush
May 16, 1924 — August 21, 2005
Former Okanogan County resident

Gladys D. Quackenbush, formerly Gladys D. Self, long-time resident of Okanogan County, entered Paradise on August 21, 2005 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born Gladys Davis, daughter of Okanogan pioneers George Davis and Edna Richardson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, at 11 a.m. in St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Ridge Drive at Emery Street, Omak, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to AIDS Housing Association, 301 North “L” Street, Tacoma, WA 98403, or to the Okanogan Historical Society, Okanogan, WA 98840.

Gerald W. Nelson

Gerald W. Nelson was born August 14, 1930, and died August 6, 2005, at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane.
There will be a memorial at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at the Eagles in Okanogan.
Memorials may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Nellie (Sparks) Kihn
Penticton, B.C.

Nellie (Sparks) Kihn was born June 15, 1921 in Valle Crucis, North Carolina to Robert and Susie Townsend Bryant. She passed away August 16, 2005 in Penticton, B.C., Canada.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at 1 p.m. with a gathering to follow at the home of Ken and Delores Dolgner, 69 Kermel Rd., Omak, WA, hosted by Nellie’s children.

Lucy Marie Breashears

Lucy Marie Breshears, daughter of Douglas L. and Mary E. (Hooper) Pitts died Aug. 6.
Born June 11, 1915, Breshears was raised in Pittsburg, Missouri.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, with Rev. Charles Buck officiating. Graveside service followed in Pittsburg Baptist Cemetery, Pittsburg, MO.
Memorials may be made to the Pittsburg Baptist Cemetery or The Gideon Bible Society.

George F. Wooten

George F. Wooten, 78, of Wenatchee died Aug. 16, 2005, at Cashmere Convalescence Center.
He was born in Jacksonville, Fla. After retirement he bought a cattle ranch in Malott.
A memorial service was held Aug. 18 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Wenatchee.

Ivy Elizabeth Neumann

Our sweet little angel was silently born into our lives on October 8, 2005.
A celebration in honor of Ivy’s memory will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at the home of her grandparents in Okanogan.

Vern C. “Beaver” Bevis
Riverside

Vern C. "Beaver" Bevis, age 84, of Riverside died on Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, at Spokane, Wash. He was born Aug. 11, 1921, at Pocatello, Idaho to parents, Paul and Virginia Bevis. Vern moved to Okanogan Valley when he was 12 years old where he began his ranching experience.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, 2 p.m. at the Oroville Pentecostal Church of God. Pastor Claude Roberts will officiate.
Bergh Funeral Service, Oroville, was in charge of arrangements.

Billie Vern Van Brunt

Beloved father, grandfather and friend to all he met. passed away October 3, 2005 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, Yakima. He was born December 22, 1915 to Walter and Myrtle Van Brunt.
Services were held October 12, 2 pm at the Chestnut Street Baptist Church.
Arrangements in care of Steward and Williams Tribute center, Ellensburg.

Abraham Lincoln ‘Link’ Best, Sr.
Omak

Abraham Lincoln ‘Link’ Best, Sr., was born on Feb. 12, 1928, near Tonasket, Wash.; as the second son of Arthur and Lillian Best. Abraham died at his home, in Omak, Wash., on Oct. 16, 2005. The family of Link believes that he is with his beloved wife, Ledred, and his parents, in a better place.
Community rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Omak Longhouse and a funeral mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at St. Mary’s Mission. The family of Link invites all to the Omak Longhouse for a dinner after his burial.

Jeanne Elizabeth Woodard Smith

Our Mom, Jeanne Elizabeth Woodard Smith, went home to be with her Lord Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 14, 2005. We are so happy for her but miss her so much. She was born in Spokane to Doris Elizabeth (Biles) Williams and Dick Bever Williams on June 23, 1919.
Graveside services will be held at Omak Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, October 29, 2005, 11 a.m.

David Faye Ritch

David Faye Ritch, 50, who lived in Loomis and Tonasket for a year and three in Keller, died Oct. 8, 2005, at his home.
A memorial service will be at noon Nov. 5 at the Keller Community Center.
Strate Funeral Home, Grand Coulee, is in charge of arrangements.

Douglas Tarnowske
Omak

Douglas Tarnowske, 85, of Omak, Wash. passed away at his home on December 15, 2005. He was born on January 8, 1920 to Paul and Magdalena Tarnowske.
A memorial service will be held for Douglas Tarnowske at Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel on December 22, 2005 at 10 a.m. with a dinner to follow at eh Okanogan Eagles at noon. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the same chapel on December 21.
Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Harry Howard Hubbard
Riverside

Harry Howard Hubbard, 88, of Riverside, Wash., passed away on December 13, 2005. He was born in Tonasket, Wash. on July 3, 1917 to Ralph and Lela (Collier) Hubbard.
Visitation for Harry Hubbard was held on Friday, December 16, 2005 at Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Funeral services were held at Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at 11 a.m. with Father Rory Pitstick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to “The Golden Years” assisted living facility, 48 A Hubbard Rd., Riverside, WA 98849.
Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

John Peck Forde

John Peck Forde, 71, died Dec. 13, 2005, at Mid-Valley Hospital, Omak.
Memorials are suggested to the Loomis Mountain View Cemetery or the John Forde Athletic Memorial Scholarship.
Precht-Harrison Nearents Chapel, Okanogan, is in charge of arrangements.

Mabel M. Carlton

Mabel M. Carlton, 96, Okanogan, died Dec. 18, 2005, at Mid-Valley Hospital, Omak.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at Precht-Harrison Nearents Chapel, Okanogan. Interment will be at the Okanogan City Cemetery with a meal at the Okanogan Senior Center afterward.
Precht-Harrison Nearents Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Ernest E. Harvey

Ernest E. Harvey, 83, died Dec. 13, 2005, at Harmony House in Brewster.
At his request there will be no services. A remembrance potluck for family and friends will be from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the American Legion Hall, Brewster.

Shirley Jean Anderson-Carver
Spokane

Shirley Jean Anderson-Carver, age 60, of Spokane, Wash., died on December 31, 2005 in Spokane, Wash. She was born on June 9, 1945 in Cawston, British Columbia to Hans and Sarah (Marsel) Richter. Shirley lived most of her life in Oroville, Wash. where she raised her children.
Bergh Funeral Service of Oroville is in care of arrangements.

Robert Mark Fenno
Spokane

Robert Mark Fenno, 56, former resident of Okanogan, Wash. passed away unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 2 in Spokane, Wash. He was born Sept. 1, 1949 in Seattle, Wash. to Robert T. and Mavis (Kelley) Fenno.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wishing Star Foundation, 915 W. 2nd #3, Spokane, WA 99201.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hennessey Smith Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division St., Spokane, Wash.

Doyne M. “Don” Scott
Leavenworth

Doyne M. "Don" Scott, 88, a resident of Leavenworth, Wash. and former longtime resident of Okanogan, Wash. and Tacoma, Wash., died Monday afternoon, Jan. 2, 2006 in the Cashmere Convalescent Center following an extended illness.
A private family service of commemoration was held Friday, January 6, 2006 in Ward's Funeral Chapel. Inurement will be held at a later date.
Ward's Funeral Chapel of Leavenworth, Wash. is in charge of arrangements.

Marie Filer

Funeral service for Marie Filer, longtime resident of Twisp, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at the Twisp Mormon Church. Graveside service will follow at the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
