Johnny Lewellyn Fry, 17, died Jan. 7, 2006.
He was born Dec. 28, 1988, and was raised in Omak, where he attended school.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at the Omak Longhouse with burial to follow.

Georgia Longanecker
Georgia Naomi (Alexander) Longanecker, 90, died Dec. 31, 2005, in Brewster.
She married Ernest Longanecker in Tonasket in November 1934. They lived and raised their family in Winthrop and retired to Brewster in 1979.
A memorial service will be held later.
Barnes Chapel, Brewster, is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Van Lew Josten
Former Omak resident Betty Van Lew Josten, 88, died Dec. 2, 2005, at her home in Anchorage, Alaska.
She and her husband, Lester O. Josten, lived in Omak from 1968 until his death in May 1996. She moved to Anchorage to be near her sons.
Cremation was held in Anchorage. There were no services.

Eileen Ann Joslyn
Omak
Eileen Ann Joslyn, 77, passed away peacefully on January 15 after a prolonged illness. She passed with her husband, daughter, and son-in-law present at her home on "Sky Acres" in Omak, Wash. Eileen was born on March 7, 1928.
Eileen and her husband, Stan, lived in Omak for 13 years.
Eileen will be missed and although she was small in stature, she was strong in heart. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is with her Holy Father in His Heaven.

Fredrick Joseph Hess
Omak
In loving memory of our dearest dad and grandfather, Fredrick Joseph Hess, age 76. Fred passed away Thursday, Jan. 26. He was born in Clark, South Dakota on February 8, 1929 to the late Nick and Delina Hess. Fred married Patricia Pitts June 9, 1956. Together they had five children and thirteen grandchildren.
The family would like to express our special thanks to the wonderful staff at Mid-Valley Medical Group, Mid-Valley Hospital, Deaconess Hospitals, VA Home in Spokane, and the Tonasket Nursing Home.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cornerstone Church in Omak, Wash.

Gary L. Butler
Yuma, Ariz.
Gary L. Butler, 63, passed away Sunday, January 8 at the Yuma Regional Medical Center, Yuma, Ariz. Gary was a resident of Yuma, having lived there since 1998.
Gary was born in Hot Springs, Ark. on July 29, 1942. He attended Omak grade school and Okanogan Jr. High and High School, where he graduated in 1960. After serving two years in the National Guard in Okanogan and upon graduation, Gary joined the Navy.

Alex CC Kruger
Penticton
In loving memory, Alex CC Kruger, 19, passed away New Year's Eve after a tragic car accident. Alex was born on September 25, 1986 at Penticton Regional Hospital. Alex attended school in Omak, Wash., Fairbault, Minn., and graduated from Princess Margaret in Penticton on June 29, 2005.
Rosary was Friday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Omak Tribal Longhouse in Omak. Funeral services were held at Paschal Sherman, St. Mary's Mission on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 11 a.m.
Donations and cards are suggested to Betty Kruger and Alex Cardenas to help offset expenses of transporting Alex’s body from Minnesota and the cost of funeral expenses, PO Box 3405, Omak, WA 98841 or call (509) 826-5325.

Ray Fredrick Engle
Omak
In loving memory, Ray Fredrick Engle, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 1, 2006. Ray was born in Belmont, Wash. on Dec. 18, 1926 to Nanny Wyrick and Shanklin Engle. He was a veteran of the Korean War. On September 16, 1950, he married Irene Lucille Fuchs in DeSmet, Idaho. Together, they had eleven children. He worked for a short time for the Forest Service and then for different logging outfits. In 1974, he moved to Omak, Wash. where he continued working for various logging outfits as a tree-faller and eventually retired.
Services were held at Precht-Harrison-Nearents Funeral home Monday, February 6 at 11:30 a.m. Graveside services followed. There was visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. before the funeral service.
Precht-Harrison-Nearents Funeral Service Directors were in charge of the arrangements.

John S. Truitt
Palmyra

John S. Truitt died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, at the age of 58. John was born on May 1, 1947, in Omak, Wash., to John A. and Thelma Staggs Truitt.
Family and friends were invited to call from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 W. Main St., Palmyra where a funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, 2006. Burial with military honors followed in Palmyra Cemetery. Contributions in memory of John are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Road N., Rochester, N.Y. 14609.

Edna Jessup
Edna Jessup, 93, died Dec. 20, 2005, in Davenport.
She was born in Brewster April 28, 1912, to Martin and Katherine (Beak) Wick.
Memorials are suggested to the Coulee City Senior Center.
At the family’s request, no public services were held.

Allan Morrell
Allan Morrell, 53, died Jan. 31, 2006.
A friends memorial will be held. More information is available at 846-0900.
Precht-Harrison Nearents Chapel, Okanogan, is in charge of arrangements.

Peter B. George Sr.
Peter B. George Sr., 83, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Colville Tribal Convalescent Center, Nespelem.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at the Nespelem Community Center. The funeral service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Nespelem Community Center.
Burial will follow at the Kartar Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Strate Funeral Home, Grand Coulee.

Rosanna Alice Sandra Cate
Omak
Rosanna Alice Sandra Cate, 21, of Omak, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 due to an automobile accident near Haley Creek Rd., on Highway 155.
She was born on Aug. 4, 1984 in Grand Coulee, Wash. to Terrance Lee Gallaher and Roxanne Campbell of Nespelem, Wash.
Services will be conducted at the Nespelem Community Center in Nespelem, Wash. Family rosary was held on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. with public rosary held on Monday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. and the burial was at sunrise on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at the Nespelem Community Cemetery, officiated Father Jake Morton.
Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Bob Dow
Paso Robles, Calif.
Master Sergeant Robert Wayne Dow Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend was born April 5, 1927, and passed away peacefully March 11, 2006, in Paso Robles, Calif.
Services will be held Saturday, April 1 at 10 a.m. at the Conconully Community Methodist Church.

Faye I. Lloyd
Okanogan
Faye I. Lloyd, 93, of Waterville/Okanogan, died March 13, 2006 at the Cornerstone Assisted Living in Waterville, Wash. Faye was born November 16, 1912 in Lincoln, Neb. Faye married Francis W. Lloyd on April 13, 1946 in Richmond, Calif. They lived in Okanogan for many years before Francis preceded her in death on October 31, 2002.
Faye Lloyd's services will be held on Thursday, March 23 at 11 a.m. at the Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel in Okanogan with Pastor Chris Warren officiant. Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the chapel. Interment will be at the Okanogan City Cemetery.
Donations are suggested to the charity of your choice.
Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Naomi M. Houtz
Lacey, Wash.
Naomi M. Houtz, 86, passed away Friday, March 17, 2006 at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia, Wash. She was born to Herman and Sylvia Williams on April 19, 1919 in Cheney, Wash. Her and her family moved to the Molson/Chesaw area, where she spent her early childhood and adulthood.
She married Avery Houtz on Nov. 14, 1936. They moved to the Disautel area then to Omak area where they raised their family.

Margaret “Peggy” Louise Melvin
Our dear little Peggy was born March 26, 1950 and joined her beloved brother, Doug, in Heaven on July 17, 2005 in Kona Community Hospital, Hawaii. By her bedside was her mother, Margi, her aunts, Mary (Tacoma) and Louise (Fresno), and her cousins Linda (Albian, Ida.) and Caren (Boulder).
Peggy was raised in Dash Point, Wash. attending schools there and proudly graduated from Stadium High School in 1968.
A celebration of her life was held August 13 at the Puyallup Elks Lodge with Hawaiian dress and decor as the theme. She was the light of our lives and will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Earl ‘Bud’ Gallagher Jr.
Earl “Bud” Gallagher Jr., Omak, died March 19, 2006, at Mid-Valley Hospital, Omak.
He was born in Hobbs, N.M., April 11, 1936, to Earl and Winona (Bell) Gallagher. His family moved to Oroville in 1948.
At his request there will be no services.
Precht-Harrison Nearents Chapel, Okanogan, is in charge of arrangements.

Joyce Marilyn Bonnin
Joyce Marilyn Bonnin, Okanogan, died March 8, 2006.
She was born in California Oct. 25, 1935, and had lived in Okanogan County for more than 30 years. She married Robert Lee Bonnin in 1962 and raised a family. Mr. Bonnin died in 1998.
Private services will be held.

Sharon Hathaway
COLVILLE - Sharon (“Sherry” “Sarge” “Ma”) LaRena Hathaway, an 11-year resident of the Kettle Falls and Colville areas who had lived in Tonasket, Chesaw and Oroville, died March 7 at her Colville home.
She was born June 23, 1939, in Newton, Kan., to Lester Merle and Blanche Lorena (Barker) Sohns.
Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Colville, was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Dallas E. Harvey Jr.
Dallas E. Harvey Jr., 79, Omak, died April 23 in Omak.
Graveside services for Mr. Harvey, who lived in Omak about 60 years, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Riverside Cemetery.

Mary Avanell (Smith) Watkins
Omak
Mary Avanell (Smith) Watkins passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Golden Years Adult Family Care Home north of Riverside. She was born July 2, 1928 in Mercer Co., Mo. to Joseph Laird and Nella Leo (Orndorff) Smith. She graduated from Princeton, Mo. High School in 1945. She married Troy Watkins on December 20, 1947 in Yakima. They lived in Yakima, Republic and Disautel before moving to Omak in 1956.
Memorials are suggested to the Omak Soroptimist Scholarship Fund or Children’s Orthopedic Hospital.
Funeral services for Mary Watkins were held on Saturday, April 22, at 3 p.m. at the Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel. Interment was at the Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held on Friday, April 21 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the chapel.
Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Billie Brantner
Tonasket
Billie Brantner went home to be with his Lord Jesus. Billie, 70, of Tonasket, died Sunday, April 23, 2006 at the North Valley Hospital in Tonasket.
He was born Feb. 28, 1936 in Omak, Wash. to Winnie and Gladys (Lambert) Brantner.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel with Pastor Walt Goehner officiant.
Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Helen L. Smith-Holmes
Okanogan
Helen Louise Smith-Holmes, age 90, went to be with her Lord Thursday, April 25, 2006 following a short illness. She was born in a log cabin May 3, 1915 to Frank and Theresa Zolgar in Aeneas Valley, Wash.
In 1926 the family moved to Loomis, Wash. and later to Tonasket.
She asked that any contributions in her honor be made to the Okanogan Senior Center and that there be no formal funeral services.

Eugene F. Holeman, age 73, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2006 in Spokane, Wash. He was born August 4, 1932 in Okanogan, Wash. to Luther and Ina (White) Holeman and was a graduate of Okanogan High School.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at the Federal Way Church of the Nazarene, 1525 SW Dash Point Rd. in Federal Way. Cheney Funeral Chapel, Cheney, Wash. was in charge of arrangements.
