Scott Steven Fuhrman

Our most dear and beloved left this life far too early at age 52 on Dec. 6, 2008. Scott was born on April 23, 1956 in Puyallup, Wash. where he spent most of his childhood years in the outdoors.
Scott was an active athlete and sportsman and he loved basketball (Go Gonzaga), football (Go Cougars), but most of all he enjoyed hunting and spending time in the woods. He graduated from Eatonville High school in 1974 and was honored as an All American Football athlete in 1973 and 1974. Scott joined the United States Army and served his country from 1975 to 1978 and then was honorably discharged. Scott worked for US West/Qwest for over 20 years as a lineman then went on to run his own business. He also worked for the Forest Service and, most recently, Okanogan County Public Works.
Scott married his wife of 11 years on November 25, 1997 and shortly thereafter moved to Tunk Valley to live his dream. Scott loved the valley, mountains and wildlife and always felt that he had finally found home. He was a loving and good daddy to his cherished young girls and he provided a wonderful home and life for his family. Scott was also a very proud grandpa to little Saga Nordmark and Grace Fuhrman. Scott will be remembered most by those he loved as a warm, loving person who always “hit the nail on the head” and never beat around the bush. He always had the ability to make people laugh and appreciated all that life had to offer. He could always make something out of nothing and often said he was the “richest man on earth” because he loved his life so much. He enjoyed playing poker, spending time with his family and hunting. He was especially proud of his Boone and Crockett buck taken in 2005.
Our loss has left a deep hole in our hearts and we will ensure that Scott continues to live his dreams through his family, friends and all those he loved. He touched the lives of many, in many ways.
Scott is survived by his wife, Heather Fuhrman; children, little Sage Fuhrman, young Halla Fuhrman, Daniel Fuhrman, Kate Nordmark and Jim Fuhrman; grandchildren, Saga Nordmark and Grace Fuhrman; brothers, Mark Fuhrman and Lance Fuhrman; mother, Billie Fuhrman and father, Ralph Fuhrman. Scott will also be thoroughly missed by special friends, Bill, Louie, Travis and Dave. Annual hunting camp was always a special time for Scott and his friends.
There was a graveside service held at the Tunk Valley Cemetery on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 1 p.m. A potluck luncheon followed the service at the Tunk Valley Grange Hall. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel was entrusted with the arrangements.

Robert "Bob" Dezellem

Oroville, Washington
Robert 'Bob' Dezellem passed away November 13, 2008, at North Valley Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born at home in East Omak to Henry and Alma Dezellem on May 10, 1933, joining his older sister Isabelle. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving sister, Isabelle Whiteley and brother-in-law Art. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family and was so proud of his children and their families and was deeply loved in return. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; son, Rob (Ellen) Dezellem; grandchildren, Leann, Kelli and Kyle Troop; son, Todd (Linda) Dezellem; grandchildren, Bailey, Ashley, Trey, and Drew; son, Chad (Stevie); Dezellem grandchildren, Dane, Tori, and Shayle; daughter, Janis (Dan) Simon, and honorary great-granddaughters, Grace and Nyakor.
A famous man once said, "A man's friendships are one of the best measures of his worth." (Charles Darwin). Bob was very rich in wonderful friendships throughout his life, beginning with his best friend, Abbie (Wilson) Tugaw, from baby-buggy days, her brother, Lee and the other kids who went to the two-room East Omak school. He learned so much from E.J. Schmidt at his store, and other neighbors. He attended Omak Jr. High and high school where he enjoyed playing football under inspirational coaches. While finishing high school at Riverside, he met many more lifelong friends, including Bain and Edith Crofoot, who looked after Bob and his buddy Butch Petersen. When Bob worked for the Forest Service, he worked under George Honey, George Suder and Jim Pruitt, great bosses and lifelong friends. He learned so much from them and had fond memories of working with Horace and Florence Clough and others. He also found many more friends while piling lumber, working in the sawmill, warehouses, orchards, doing carpenter work and helping senior citizens with home repair. Bob and Hazel Lenton were married in Spokane on August 21, 1959, between summer school and school. (She wanted her second graders to start out learning just one name.) They raised their four children in Brewster, following all of their special interests and sports. He thoroughly enjoyed his children and was always there for them. He taught his sons that it takes "a real man to be a gentleman" and to look after girls and women. His daughter knew she could always count on him. He became a loyal Cougar fan when all four ended up at WSU. Bob had a creative and inventive mind and was interested in all kinds of science, especially learning about plants and animals and the environment from direct observation. He was very patriotic, believing in The Bill of Rights, and protecting our way of life!
Cancer is such a terrible thing, but in his courageous fight he met so many good people who lifted his spirits and enriched his life. He deeply appreciated the visits, calls, cards and prayers from his longtime friends. It is our hope that his courageous almost four-year battle will contribute to a major breakthrough. Bob's positive attitude and fighting spirit were always apparent and he was always searching for information to add to his "arsenal." He had the very best oncologist in Dr. Notter who guided his treatments with such knowledge, caring manner and deep concern. Bob so appreciated the wonderful healing atmosphere throughout The Wenatchee Valley Medical Center, especially the oncology department and chemo room and the wonderful new friends who lifted his spirits, Dr. Notter, Katie Kemble, Celeste, the chemo room staff, and all of the others who helped make three extra years to share with family and friends possible. He also received wonderful care everywhere he went. The staff at North Valley Hospital took such compassionate care of him during his last days.
Memorials may be made to Our House Cancer Center or the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at the Okanogan Senior Center at 1300 2nd Ave South, on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 11 a.m., with a potluck to follow. Pastor Karen Davison and Pastor John Newton will add to the service.
Legacy Memorial Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
