Ronald Gene Miles

Ronald Gene Miles, age 70, passed away May 31, 2011, at his home in Malott, Wash. His wife and grandson were with him. He passed away with them by his side.
He was born Nov. 4, 1940 in Bethany, Mo., to Fred and Dorothy Miles. He lived most of his life in Washington. He married his wife, Penala Miles in March 1982 in Reno, Nev. His wife and grandson lived in Marysville, then moved to Eastern Washington and bought a place in Malott, Wash., in 2006.
Ron had three children and four step-children. His children are Donald Miles, Teresa Jo Miles and Ronald Dale Miles. His step-children are Dava Woods, Robert Jones, Lynese Madia, and George Collins; three step-grandchildren, Garrett Johnson, Adam Mansfield, and Mac Madia. He has brothers living, Garvin Miles, Omak, and Terry Miles, Vancouver, Wash.; and two sisters, Milden Miles, Ariz., and Linda Zeba, Silver Lake, Wash. He had a very close and dear friend, Jack Collins, Everett, Wash. He also had a sister and brother-in-law he loved very much, Bob and Toni Cunningham, Rockport, Wash. He had many nieces and nephews.
Ron and Penny have been together for 37 years. He was a great husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family very much.
He loved to hunt and fish and camp with family. He will be missed very much by everyone who knew him.

Richard S. Roe

Richard S. Roe, age 52, died on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at his home in Tonasket with his family by his side. He was born on March 18, 1959, in Renton to parents Richard and Sharon Roe.
Steve grew up mainly in Okanogan County. In 1980, he entered the U.S. Army. He served for a brief time in Germany. Following an honorable discharge from the service, Steve remained a patriot. He was proud for the opportunity to have served his country.
After his discharge he moved to Wenatchee and later to Seattle where he devoted 10 years of employment at the Veterans Hospital. In his heart, Tonasket always felt like home. He returned to live in Tonasket approximately 10 years ago. He went to work in the orchards, then doing security and construction at a local vacation resort, with his last job being a fork lift operator. Steve spent many hours in the nearby mountains, where he loved to camp and fish. He also enjoyed his time at the Tonasket Eagles and Tonasket American Legion playing cards and games of pool.
He is survived by: his mother, Sharon Roe of Omak; daughter, Tasha (Wayne) Latshaw of Tonasket; son, Chad (Cara) Roe of Spokane; sister, Missy Bostick of Omak; sister-in-law, Carol Roe of Brewster; three grandchildren: Dylen Roe, Skyler Roe and Jenna Latshaw.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Richard Roe; and brother, Ken Roe.
Military graveside services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2011, 2 p.m. at the Tonasket Cemetery with the Tonasket American Legion, officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Charlotte L. Williamson

Charlotte L. Williamson passed away peacefully at her home with her children by her side, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her mother, Orva Wagner; father, Harvey Wagner; and brother, Charles Wagner. Charlotte leaves behind a sister, Diane Bradley; brother, Roger Wagner; her children, Dean Williamson, Denise Williamson Greene, Lizette Janine Williamson, Michael Williamson; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Charlotte worked at the Manito Golf and Country Club for 15 years as the bar manager. Charlotte had a great love for antiques and with her daughter, Denise, opened Country Classics Antique Store. After 10 years of business the store closed and Charlotte continued her passion for antiques with antique shows and flea markets. Charlotte will be truly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held on June 18, 2011, at her home, 6313 E. 9th, Spokane Valley, Wash., at 2 p.m. Join us in celebrating her journey of life.

Roberta Nelson Campbell

Roberta Nelson Campbell died at her home on June 10, 2011 after a brief illness.
Roberta was born on Feb. 25, 1936, in the Oroville Hospital to parents Joe and Doris Hardenburgh. She graduated from high school in 1953, attended college at Whitman and in 1954 married Stan Nelson. They were married for 43 years and had three sons, Monte, Mark and Erik. In 2002, she married The Rev. Robert Campbell and they made their home in Oroville.
A full and people-filled life was her gift to the world. She was never too busy for others and found great joy in the children. Over a course of 42 years she baked about 1,200 gingerbread houses and invited children to decorate them. She was an avid reader, great cook, musician and skilled bridge player. She also enjoyed skiing and spending time at the cabin on Baldy Mountain. Roberta considered it a blessing to have lived her life in this valley.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stan; son, Monte;brother, Fred Hardenburgh; and nephew, Joe Hardenburgh. She is survived by her husband, Bob; sons, Mark (Patti) Nelson and Erik Nelson; seven grandchildren, Tara, Chase, Dylan, Matthew, Jacob, Anna Janae, and Joshua Nelson; three step-children; six step-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Dennis Wilder; sister-in-law, Syd Hardenburgh; and her cherished nieces and nephews; Robin (Bob) Hanson, Alison (Harold) McCoy, Elizabeth (Jeff) Hafter, Lindsey (Wayne) Asmussen, Kris Wilder and Corey (Anne) Wilder.
Services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church where Roberta played the organ for 62 years.

Thomas ‘Bud’ George Clough Jr.

Thomas “Bud” G. Clough, Jr., a resident of Colville, Wash. passed away on June 1, 2011 in Colville at the age of 73. Bud was born on April 19, 1938 in Aberdeen, Wash., the son of Thomas George and Edith (Johnson) Clough.
Bud moved often with his family as they followed work opportunities. He attended grade school in Oregon and high school in Republic, Wash. where he met his high school sweetheart, Carol Marie Hatcher. While attending school, Bud also worked at the San Poil Lumber Yard loading box cars after school. On May 28, 1955, Bud married Carol and they began a wonderful life together. Bud worked at the Lumber Mill for 38 years and helped to rebuild the mill twice following fires. He worked nearly every position in the mill and enjoyed his work. In 1991, he and Carol moved to Roseburg, OR. Bud was soon re-employed, this time as an RV technician for I-5 RV Sales where he worked until 2006 and retired. They made time to travel and enjoyed the many miles spent on the road in their RV. In 2007, Bud was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and they moved to Colville to be near family. Bud was able to reside at home under the watchful eye of his family and in-home caregivers. His recent decline in health required care at the Special Care Unit at Pinewood Nursing Home in Colville.
Bud loved his family and spent many weekends on a new adventure with his wife and children. They enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, playing horseshoes, watching stock car races and riding motorcycles together. He took his family on vacations to many places including Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, Canada, Nashville and Disneyland to mention a few. Family tradition was to share opening weekend of fishing season at Aeneas Valley, followed by fishing excursions throughout Northeast Washington and into Canada throughout the season. As a younger man, he shared song-after-song on the dance floor with his wife, friends and family. He also took great pride in teaching his daughters to dance. Bud will be remembered as a “man’s man” with a meat and potatoes approach to life. He appreciated a hard day’s work and three good meals a day. He had a wonderful sense of humor, shared many good laughs with family and friends and was always steadfast, even in time of great personal trial. Bud’s family and friends will miss him greatly and think of him often.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Sr. and Edith Clough.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol Clough; daughters, Vicki Melby and husband, Mike, Colville, Wash., Peggy Clough, Spokane Valley, Wash., Barb Culp and husband, Loren, Republic, Wash.; sons, Randy Clough and wife, Dawn, Eugene, Ore., Rick Clough and wife, Melody, Tonasket, Wash.; five brothers, Merle, Bob, David, Ted and Wally; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A memorial service and potluck will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Eagles Lodge in Colville, Wash. Floyd William Harneit

Floyd William Harneit, 84, of Omak, Wash. went to be with his Lord on June 7, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Floyd was born in Havillah, Wash. on March 22, 1927 to Albert William and Elma C. Harneit.
Floyd and his sisters attended school in Havillah through the sixth grade. After his father suddenly passed away, Floyd, his mother and two sisters moved to Tonasket where Floyd completed the eighth grade. He then left school and began working to provide for his family. He worked as a ranch hand and also for the railroad. In 1945, he entered the U.S. Army where he served four years as a Motorcycle Policeman in Austria, Germany. He also completed his education while in the service. He returned to Omak in 1949 and went to work at Biles-Coleman Lumber Mill for a short time. He then drove long-haul for Don Ewer Trucking throughout Washington and Canada for many years.
In 1954, he married Mary Ellen Heinlen, they were married for 36 years. They had two daughters, Beth in 1965 and Annie in 1975. Floyd returned to work at “the mill” in 1967 as the lumber shipping foreman, where he remained until his retirement in 1992. He had a very strong work ethic and was well respected by everyone at “the mill.” In 1990 Mary Ellen passed away.
In 1992 he began his retirement years by marrying Bette P. Randall of Omak, they were married for 19 years. Floyd and Bette enjoyed a very active life together doing their favorite things. They enjoyed riding motorcycles, trap shooting, golfing, yard work, meeting with their friends for dinners and were members of the Rock Club. Floyd also enjoyed playing pool several times a week. He could be seen everyday driving his blue ‘66 Chevy Pickup to join the guys for coffee. Floyd took great pride in keeping his yard beautiful and was talented in growing roses. During Floyd’s earlier years he enjoyed rock work and built his own elaborate rock wall by hand. He could also be found puttering in his garage with various projects. Floyd was a Christian. He read his Bible daily and was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He based his life on putting his trust in the Lord.
Floyd was a loving husband, father, grandpa, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have known and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Bette, at home in Omak; two daughters of Omak, Beth (Matt) Thompson and Annie (Ben) Rough; a special foster daughter, Charlotte (Dave) Bunce; step-children, Debbie Randall of Issaquah, Wash., Jim Randall of Omak, Kellie Randall of Omak and Shane Randall of Methow; grandchildren, Tami Thompson of East Wenatchee and Jake William Rough of Omak; great-granddaughters, Jaiden and Hailee Thompson of East Wenatchee, Wash. step-grandchildren, Kim Schumacher, Cory (Lindsey) Schumacher, Nicole (Sonny) Rider, Courtney Crowder, Josh Randall, Dianna Batson, Danielle Batson; and step-great-grandchildren, Ryland and Kyle Rider; and seven nieces and nephews.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; his first wife; and two nephews.
A viewing will be held Friday, June 17, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. at Precht-Harrison Nearents Chapel. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011, 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, corner of 4th and Ash St., in Omak, with pastor Kevin Schnake officiating. Interment will be at Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens with military honors. A dinner to follow at Trinity Lutheran Church.

David W. John

Dave went home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2011, from a short illness. He left behind his wife, Frann; son, Ron (Dee) of Nevada; son, Darrel (Susie) of Medical Lake; daughter, Paula (Steve) of Ephrata; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Out of high school Dave joined the Navy, after his hitch he went to Alaska before Alaska was a state and joined the Territorial Police Department. After that he went back to the states and went Washington State University earning his masters degree, then he went to Eastern Washington University to get a teachers degree. After that he went to work for Washington State, becoming a claims investigator and 30 years later he retired.
There will be a celebration of life and potluck at the family home on Saturday, July 2, 1 p.m., 39B Panorama Pt., Omak, Wash.

Patricia Helen (Pat) Opdycke

Patricia Helen (Pat) Opydycke was born March 26, 1939, in Neptune, N.J., to Jean Edgar Murphy. She was raised in Farmingdale, N.J., and upon graduation from Freehold High School married Jim Opdycke, her loving husband of 54 years. She passed away peacefully June 6, 2011, after battling Alzheimer’s Disease for many years.
Pat was a devoted and loving wife and mother and never complained as she moved to various locations with Jim as he followed his career with the U.S. Forest Service. She intermittently held positions as a clerk typist with a secret U.S. Government clearance for a research project at Syracuse University, a bookkeeper for a lumber company in Bend, Ore., and a teller at Seattle First National Bank in Omak, Wash. She spent most of her time providing a loving home for her husband, Jim, daughter Lois, and son Jim. She also loved helping others by volunteering for various services in schools, local communities, and most recently at St. Vincent Hospital where she and her husband co-chaired the shopping cart service. Pat always had a smile and loved to joke and tease.
Pat is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Lois Roberts and husband, Richard, of Richland, Wash.; son, Jim Opdycke and wife, Diane, of Franksville, Wisc.; brothers, Edgar Murphy of Vermont and Robert Murphy of New Jersey; and six grandchildren.
Her family is highly appreciative for the sensitive, loving care given to Pat by her caregiver family at Beaverton Farmington Square. A memorial service was held at Farmington Square on June 8, 2011. Internment will be at Willamette National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Delphine Louise Rickel

Delphine Louise Rickel went to be with her beloved Lord on June 6, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Oct. 23, 1936, in Aenas Valley, to Bill & Essie Scriver.
She experienced & shared very wonderful memories of her childhood growing up in Moses Meadows and riding horses with her beloved brothers, Ed and Bill.
She attended St. Mary’s Mission, getting not only a strong basic education but developing her wonderful faith. The nuns taught her many of her beautiful needlework skills.
Delphine graduated from Tonasket High School in 1954. She was well known for her beauty, and was voted most beautiful of her senior class. She worked at the Tonasket Hospital, continuing her relationship with the nuns.
Delphine married the love of her life J.W. Bill Rickel on June 4, 1955. They had 56 wonderful years together. There loving marriage was a great example to us all. After marriage, they moved to Spokane, where she worked various clerical jobs before returning to the Okanogan area, where they built a home at Omak Lake.
In 1963 they added a daughter, Sheila, to the family and moved to town; in 1966 Mike joined the group. They moved to St. Mary’s Mission where Bill was the maintenance man/bus driver. The years there made many lasting friendships. The family moved back to Omak and Bill & Delphine bought Lee Plumbing. Bill did the service work and Delphine kept the home and the books. In later years, she could be found being Bill’s plumbers helper on the job.
Delphine had many interests, sewing, knitting, embroidery, doing them all to perfection. When she was 50 she fulfilled a lifelong dream and graduated from Wenatchee Valley College with a business degree.
Delphine and Bill spent many years hunting, fishing, and camping. Delphine was a crack shot with many trophies to prove it. She always caught the most and the biggest fish.
Family was everything to Delphine, not just her children and grandchildren, but her brothers, Bill, Ed and Russell, and her very special nieces and nephews.
Delphine was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Essie Scriver; her brothers, Bill, Ed, and Russell; a special niece, Sharmie Scriver; and nephew, Micky Scriver.
She is survived by her devoted husband ,Bill; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Dave Hall, son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Rickel, of Cashmere; and grandchildren, Catlin Baker and Spencer Rickel. The joy of her last year great-grandson, Izzy; sister-in-laws, Karen Scriver and Sue Pendry; her special nieces and nephews; and her beloved puppy, Penny.
Delphine was a member of the Colville Confederated Tribes, and Our Lady of The Valley Catholic Church.
We would like to thank Father Tomson and Father Morton for all of their loving support. Amedysis Hospice and very special niece, Peggy Scriver for the loving care

Visitation was held Tuesday, June 14 at the Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Holy Rosary was Tuesday, June 14 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, June 15, at the St. Mary’s Mission Catholic Church at 1 p.m.

Roger Lee Samse

Roger Lee Samse, 77, went to be with our Lord on June 1, 2011. Roger was born in Sheboygan, Wisc. to Benjamin and Anna Samse.
The family moved to Granger, Wash. in 1943. Roger graduated from Granger High School in 1952. He joined the United States Air Force in 1952 and served for 25 1/2 years.
On Oct. 4, 1957 Roger married Carol Shiflett. After retiring, Roger attended Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College where he obtained degrees in business and real estate.. He sold real estate in Spokane for 15 years. He left real estate for medical reasons and went to work at Fairchild Air Force Base at the commissary. He retired after seven years . In December of 2005 Roger and Carol moved back to Okanogan, Wash.
Roger loved being in the Air Force and serving his country. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and playing golf. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed football, basketball and baseball and was fiercely loyal to his favorite teams even during losing streaks
Roger was preceded in death by his mother and father. Roger is survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Leslie (Mike) deRham of Mill Creek, Wash., and Diana Christian of Taos, N.M.; four granddaughters, Melissa, Emily, Jennifer and Jessica; four grandsons, Brandon, David, Christopher and Eric; two great granddaughters, Trinity and Deanna; sister, Elaine (Marvin) Miller of Kent, Wash.; five brother-in-laws ; four sister-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Roger will be at Telford’s Chapel of the Valley in East Wenatchee beginning at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 18, 2011.

Esther May Farr

Esther May Farr was born Nov. 1, 1926, to Ruben and Florence Breshears in Omak, Wash. and entered Heaven Aug. 1, 2011.
Esther has loved the Lord since childhood. God was her strength and salvation; her loving and generous spirit was a testament to that. She loved to be a help to others and to share her faith with everyone.
Survivors include sons, Benjamin (Billie) Farr of Wenatchee, Wash. and Daniel Patrick (Pat) Farr of Sultan, Wash.; daughters, Linda Ellis of Kalama, Wash. and Vada (Dave) Vogt of Woodland, Wash. She is also survived by her sister, Naomi Cotton of Seattle, Wash.; as well as 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Ruben and Florence Breshears; twin sister, Eunice Wagers; husbands, Junior Sutterfield and Ralph Farr; son, James Sutterfield; daughters, Shirleen Owings and Dretha Bynum; and granddaughter, Sonia Petersen.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Renton Church of the Nazarene, 850 Union Ave. NE, Renton, Wash.
Graveside services will be held Friday, Aug. 12, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Omak Memorial Cemetery. All family and friends are welcome.

Eva Mae Harrison McLean

Eva was born on May 15, 1921 to Samuel and Ula Nelson in Crane, Mo. She passed away on Aug. 2, 2011 in Couer d’Alene, Idaho. She was raised and educated in southwestern Missouri and was the eighth child of twelve – six boys and six girls.
She married her childhood friend, Berry Harrison, on June 4, 1938. Early in their marriage, the young couple moved from Missouri to Los Angeles, Calif. and later to Washington State, eventually settling in Brewster. During their 27 year marriage, they enjoyed the birth of three children, two boys and a girl. In 1965, the marriage was dissolved.
Nine years later, Eva met and married Ted McLean. They made their home in Connell, Wash. After their marriage dissolved, she relocated to western Idaho to be near her daughter and family.
Eva worked hard her entire life, first working in fruit packing sheds in Brewster, thirteen years as a Nurse Aide in the Brewster Hospital and Pateros nursing homes. While in Connell, she continued her work with the American Legion Club. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Eva loved life, especially visiting family and friends; making friends was easy and she was well liked. She enjoyed playing pinochle, camping and travel. She was always ready to go at the drop of a hat!
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; and three sisters. Eva is survived by sisters, Betty Land (Bill) of Monett, Mo., and Marie Vantuyl of Elmirage, Ariz.; sons, Glenn Harrison (Sue) of McKinney, Texas, and Larry Harrison (Theresa) of Rancho Murietta, Calif.; and daughter, Diane Johnson (Ted) of Post Falls, Idaho. She leaves seven grandchildren;, eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 at Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel is in care of the arrangements.

Sharon Jeannette “Rose” Parker

Sharon Jeannette “Rose” Parker, 73, of Omak, Wash. passed away at Mid-Valley Hospital on Aug. 2, 2011.
She was born March 4, 1938 to Randall E. Smith and Berniece G. Berry at Chilequin, Ore.
At a young age, Sharon moved with her family to Poulsbo, Wash., where she attended first and second grade. In 1945, the family moved to Everett, Wash. where Sharon graduated from Everett high school in 1956. Sharon was an honored member of the National Rifle Association Junior Division, and received many awards for long range sharp shooting.
Sharon attended Everett Community College for pattern design and detailed tailoring. She was an excellent seamstress.
On Aug. 23, 1958 Sharon married George D. Parker of Stanwood, Wash. Together they had two sons; Mitch, born in 1959, and Todd born in 1963. The family moved to Omak, Wash. in 1967 and purchased a home on Epley Rd. Sharon worked at Omak Wood Products from 1970 – 1992 as a patch line operator. She also did bookkeeping for eight years at the family propane business in Okanogan. Sharon attended Wenatchee Valley College, graduating in 1995 with an associate degree in applied science for office technology and clerical.
Sharon was involved in her church and several ministries, including Aglow Lighthouse, and Manfishers. She was a world traveler with her family, and also with 4-square missionaries. She attended Life Bible College for one year, and YWAM in Hawaii for six months. She designed and made banners for parades and worship. She had many gifts including administration, hospitality, cooking, home and garden decor, and a deep love for God and his people. She was a prayer warrior! Sharon is a true inspiration to her many friends and family as she kept faith through a long and difficult battle with cancer, and we rejoice with her as she is finally and completely healed.
Sharon is survived by her two sons, Mitch Parker of Startup, Wash.; daughter-in-law, Sondra Parker of Startup, Wash., Todd Parker of Renton Wash.; daughter-in-law, Megan Parker of Renton, Wash.; and her grandchildren, Nathanial Parker, Chris Parker, Kaleb Parker, Brandt Andrist, Phillip Andrist, Stephan DeSuler, and Thomas DeSuler.
She was receded in death by her parents, and her brother, Mike Smith.
Services will be held at Cornerstone Fellowship in Omak, Wash. on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at 10 a.m.

Agnes Muriel Sutton

Agnes Muriel Sutton who was known as Mertie to her friends and family passed away at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska of heart complications on July 24, 2011.
Mertie was the eldest child of Louis Talbot and Agnes Brattain Talbot. She was born in her grandmothers house in Tonasket, Wash., July 8, 1930. Her siblings were Geneva, Louis Austin and Evelyn. Her father worked at a local sawmill where he was seriously injured the summer of 1935. He passed away from the injury in December of 1935. Her mother later married Ed Shunn and the family moved to Wauconda.
Mertie graduated from Tonasket High School in 1947 and went to work for the Old National bank.
She had a brilliant mind and was a beautiful young lady. She married Keith Grey and born to them were Raymond, Alan and Virginia. They later divorced and she married Don Sutton to whom Buck was born. Don had two small sons, Jay and Donnie, so she began a life with the six children. While living in Riverside Muriel worked for the city as the clerk. She was loved by the people of Riverside and enjoyed her years there. In the early 80's she moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where she worked for ASHA. She retired in Anchorage and always laughed and said her move to Alaska was delayed due to raising a family.
She had many interests. She had a love of reading, was a good gardener, was skilled at crafts often making her children’s clothes as well as quilting and other crafts, enjoyed observing the cycles of nature as a birdwatcher and all aspects of nature; enjoyed various puzzles. She was a hard and effective worker, being able to stretch a budget and was a capable manager.
Mertie is survived by her six children, Raymond of Anchorage, Alan of Tonasket, Virginia of Anchorage, Jay of Tonasket, Donnie of Omak and Buck of Las Vegas/Dutch Harbor. She is also survived by her sisters, Geneva Talbot of Spokane and Evelyn Duncalf of Tonasket; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive her. She also leaves her dear friend, Mary Grey, of Anchorage.
Mertie was preceded in death by her parents and brother Austin.
A short memorial will be held at the Tonasket Cemetery on August 16, 2011 at 1 p.m. The family ask friends to stop by to visit.

Roger E. Wiest

Roger E. Wiest, 67 of Omak, Wash. passed away Aug. 2, 2011 at the Mid-Valley Hospital in Omak. Roger was born in Grand Coulee, Wash. to Inez & Orville Wiest on Jan. 21, 1944.
He was raised in the Okanogan area. He loved hunting, fishing, rodeo and the cowboy life. He married Sharon White and had two children. He is survived by his brother, Calvin Sylvester; son, Paul Wiest; daughter, Cari Kolbaba; 4 grandchildren, Michael Wiest, Jacob Denney, Lucas Denney, Kenna Kolbaba; one great-grandchild, Ezekiel Ferguson Wiest; two nephews, Michael Sylvester and David Lynn, and one niece, Debbie Leonard.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Inez Bigelow and Orville Wiest; sisters, Helen Lynn and Iona Kalman.
The family would like to thank the many wonderful friends for their care and compassion during this time, including Bill and Barb Davis and JoAnne Desautel.
A family and friends potluck memorial will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at the Okanogan Eagles.
Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel & the Okanogan Co. Crematory of Okanogan are in care of the arrangements.
