Mrs. Edna Wight, age 87 of Lynden, died at the Christian Health Care Center on Saturday, May 31.
Born Anna Edna Morton, she was the daughter of Joseph and Caldona (Goss) Morton and was born on November 17, 1915 in Snyder, Texas. She came to Whatcom County in 1939 and was married to Harold Wight in Everson on May 13, 1940. A home maker, Edna also helped her husband operate a dairy farm.
Mrs. Wight was a former member and Deacon of the Everson Presbyterian Church and currently a member of Nooksack Valley Baptist Church. She also served as the Sunday School Secretary at both churches. Edna was a long-time active member of the Everson Club and she and Harold traveled for many years with the women’s choir, The Joyful Sound. She also enjoyed sewing and crafts.
Besides her parents, Edna was preceded by her husband Harold in 1999 and a total of eight brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Wight is survived by daughters Shirley and husband Richard Fullner of Seattle, Ilene and husband David Campbell of Upland, CA. and Betty Wight also of Seattle; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Nooksack Valley Baptist Church; 1208 Main Street; Everson 98247.

Henry C. Stadt

Born in Armour, South Dakota on Jul. 18, 1918
Departed on May. 26, 2003 and resided in Lynden, WA.

Mr. Henry C. “Hank” Stadt, age 84, of Lynden, died at St. Joseph Hospital on Monday, May 26.
Hank was the son of John and Ellen (Buurman) Stadt and was born in Armour, South Dakota on July 18, 1918 and moved with his family to Lynden in 1937. During World War II he served in the US Army Air Corps and was married to Bernice “Bea” Zylstra on January 7, 1944.
Hank learned to be a sheet metal worker while in the Army and following his discharge was employed by Lynden Sheet Metal for thirty five years. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Lynden had also been a member of the Nooksack Valley Riders. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and most recently walking his two beagles.
Hank and Bea were faithful supporters of the ministry of the Kings Men of Song from Lynden and traveled throughout the country to attend their concerts. Their attendance and support has been greatly appreciated by the choir and Hank will be dearly missed.
Beside his parents, he was preceded by his son-in-law Jerry Bos; three brothers and two sisters.
Hank is survived by his wife Bernice “Bea”; daughters Lynn Stadt of Bellingham, Kathy Bos of Lynden and Joan and husband Zay Hubbard of Bellflower, CA.; grandchildren Tanna and husband Juan Hernandez of Bellingham, Jeremy and wife Brandi Bos also of Bellingham and Justin Bos of Lynden; great-grandchildren Isabela Joy and Alexandra Faith Hernandez; sisters Frances and husband John Snapper of SanDiego, CA. and other relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Lynden Christian Schools, 417 Nooksack Ave. or to the Kings Men of Song, PMB 748, 1706 Front St., both Lynden 98264.

Eva Lecy Holt

Born in VanBuren, Missouri on Sep. 11, 1907
Departed on May. 24, 2003 and resided in Lynden, WA.

Eva Holt, age 95, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 24, at the Christian Health Care Center.
Eva was born in Van Buren, Missouri on September 11, 1907 to Tom and Minnie Williams. She was the oldest daughter of twelve children, four boys and eight girls. Her youngest sister, Virginia Lindall is the only living sibling residing in Marysville with husband Vic.
Eva married William “Wid” Holt on September 9, 1927 in Ellington, Missouri. They had three daughters, Helen, Melba and Erma. They moved to Lynden in 1937 and son James was born in 1943. They operated a strawberry farm in Lynden until their retirement. After fifty-two years of marriage, Wid passed away on May 6, 1979. Eva lived on the home place, gardening and growing flowers. Her driveway was always lined with beautiful dahlias. She continued to work, sorting potatoes for the Bedlingtons and helping in the Maberry’s strawberry plant well into her 80’s. She loved her friends and family who would come to visit, play guitar and sing. She retired to the Christian Health Care Center in 2000.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen and husband Butch Timmer of Lynden and Melba Lackey of Bellingham; grandchildren Brent Matter and wife Barb, Kim Rhea and husband Don, Juli Wandel and husband Howard, Sheree Bates and husband Mike all of Lynden; Lance Hirmann and wife Cindy and Scott Lackey all of Bellingham; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Besides her husband William, she was preceded by infant son James and infant daughter Erma.
Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.

Josephine 'Jo Jean' Wiggs

Born in Osawatomie, Kansas on Dec. 30, 1928
Departed on Jul. 6, 2007 and resided in Lynden,, WA.

Josephine Jean (Jo Jean) Wiggs, age 78 of Lynden, was taken to be with her Heavenly Father at the Christian Health Care Center on Friday, July 7, 2007.
She was the daughter of Ernest and Isabel (Enlow) Nichols and was born in Osawatomie, Kansas on December 30, 1928. Following high school, Jo Jean graduated from Baker University. She moved to Washington in 1950 when she married Eldon Wiggs in Seattle on September 1, 1950. She was a substitute teacher in many Western Washington schools. Following retirement Jo Jean and Eldon moved to Lynden in 1994.
Jo Jean was a member of Faith Reformed Church in Lynden. She will be remembered for her shinning smile, abiding faith and servant heart. She was active in Girl Scouts as a leader and other activities included Christian women’s Club, Children’s Orthopedic Hospital Guild and Young Life. An avid bridge player, she enjoyed the challenges of that game. Golf was a passion in her later years.
Jo Jean is survived by her husband Eldon; daughters Shannon of Gig Harbor and Debra of Bellingham and other members of the extended family. Jo Jean was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Ernestine Bennett and Wilesta Pierce.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Monday, July 23, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in Faith Reformed Church, 7th & Liberty Streets in Lynden.

Ollie B. Andrews

Born in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma on Feb. 9, 1908
Departed on Jul. 15, 2007 and resided in Lynden, WA.

On Sunday, July 15, 2007 our dear precious mom, Ollie “Olive” B. Andrews, age 99, left her earthly home and was taken to heaven. She is now with dad and her many loved ones that have gone on before. Ollie Belle Blythe Andrews had been at Lynden Christian Health Care for the past two years. She was born Feb. 9, 1908 in Ft. Gibson, OK to Albert and Maggie (Parks) Blythe. She was raised by her Aunt Pearl; and at age 21, she married Roy Andrews in 1929. They moved to San Antonio, TX where their first three children were born and then to Missoula, MT where they had four more children. Later they moved to Bellingham where their last child was born.
Mom was known for her wit, being a great mom and homemaker. Her children and grandchildren will always remember the countless hours and love she put into baking breads and cookies for Christmas and special occasions. Most of all, her faith was an important part of who she was and she shared that with everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. It is too mind-boggling to even begin to name all the surviving children.
She is survived by Don and Rose Russell of Bellingham; Bettie Martin of Nooksack; Roy Andrews of Missoula, MT; Howard and Janet Andrews of Missoula, MT; Harold and Motoko Andrews of Everson; Kenneth Andrews of Seattle; Robert and Judith Andrews of Mesquite, NV and Johnny and Sharon Tellefsen of Everson, WA.
The family wishes to thank the Christian Health Care Center for taking care of Mom during the last two years. We especially would like to thank Lucas for his wonderful tender care during mom’s last few hours. The family suggests memorials in Ollie’s name to Lynden Christian Health Care Center, 855 Aaron Dr., Lynden, WA 98264.
Visitation hours will be Friday, July 20, 5 to 8 pm at Gillies Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Gary Hardaway on Sat. July 21, 10:30 am at Gillies Funeral Home Chapel, 202 Front St., Lynden followed by burial in Nooksack Cemetery.

Everil Pauline Rasmussen

Born in Buffalo, Oklahoma on Jun. 17, 1922
Departed on Jul. 15, 2007 and resided in Lynden, WA.

Everil Rasmussen, age 85, went to be with her Savior and Lord July 15, 2007. A resident of Christian Health Care Center, she was surrounded by her loving family as she entered her eternal rest.
Born in Buffalo, OK on June 17, 1922 to Bryan (L.B.) and Emma (Sumpter) Dickinson she moved with her family to Yakima, WA in June 1935. In 1937, they moved to Lynden where she was a 1940 Lynden High School graduate. She was married to Merl Rasmussen April 14, 1944. Everil was an active member of Word of Life Church; where she served as treasury secretary of the Sunday School and belonged to ladies Alpha Missionary Circle. Musically gifted she also sang in the church choir, the Ladies Trio and played in the church orchestra. Employed at the Lynden Washington Coop; she also was a waitress at Lynden Fairway Café and later baked pies for the café.
Everil was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan and Emma Dickinson; sister, Audene Holleman and sister-in-law, Eva Dickinson. She is survived by her loving husband, Merl; daughter, Linda (Dwayne) Rogers; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Hillary and Alexandra all of Lynden and Desiree Roosma and Zack DePoppe; sister, Doris (David) Crabtree; brothers Eryl (Mona) Dickinson, Roland (Caroline) Dickinson all of Lynden and Hersel Dickinson of Mt. Vernon and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be Thursday, July 19, 6 to 8 pm at Gillies Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, July 20, 1 pm at Greenacres Memorial Park, 3700 Northwest Dr., Ferndale. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 21, 2:00 pm at Word of Life Church, 1986 Main St., Lynden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Everil’s name to Word of Life Church Building Fund, 1986 Main St., Lynden, WA 98264.

Doris M Werner

Born in Seymour, MO on Jan. 13, 1909
Departed on Jul. 11, 2007 and resided in Lynden, WA.

Doris M. Werner, a precious Mom, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wed. July 11, 2007 at age 98. A long-serving pastor’s wife and 1st grade teacher in Ohio, Iowa, Nebraska and Illinois, she is remembered for her love of children with special needs.
She was married 50+ years to the Rev. Loyal E. Werner (deceased in 1991). She is survived by her son, Dr. Lance D. Werner (Ph.D. Univ. of Washington), a Geography professor for 18 years at Trinity Western University. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 20, 2:00 pm at Third Christian Reformed Church, 514 Liberty St., Lynden. Donations can be made to the Loyal and Doris Werner Scholarship Fund, TWU, 7600 Glover Road, Langley, BC V2Y 1Y1 or a charity of choice. She will be missed greatly for her spunk, loving dedication to disadvantaged children and a smile that could light up any darkness

Tony Wilson

Anthony Christian Wilson, age 26, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 12, 2007. We will gather to celebrate Tony’s life on Thursday, July 19, at Noon in the Jake Maberry Gymnasium at Lynden High School with Pastor Craig Hardinger officiating. The celebration will be preceded by a graveside service in Lynden Cemetery at 11:00 am.
Tony was the oldest child and only son of Jeff and Sandy Wilson. He was born in Caldwell, Idaho on September 22, 1980 and moved with his family to Lynden from McCall, Idaho in 1991. He graduated from Lynden High School in 1999 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Washington University. He began his career this past year as a financial planner at Merrill Lynch Investment Services in Bellingham.
Tony had a deep love for sports. He excelled in football, basketball, and baseball in high school and football for WWU. He shared his passion and knowledge of the game by coaching basketball at Meridian High School and football at Lynden High School.
Tony was kind, gentle and outgoing. He loved deeply and generously and was a dedicated friend to many. He gave freely of his time and was active in several community organizations including the Lynden Pioneer Museum Board, Lynden Masonic Lodge #56, and Toastmasters International. He was in the process of bringing his passion for golf and youth sports together by organizing a benefit golf tournament that will take place August 10 and will be renamed in his honor.
Tony is survived by his parents Jeff and Sandy Wilson, and sister Jenn Wilson of Lynden, the love of his life Bree Brandt of Laurel; maternal grandmother Donna Lowrance, paternal grandparents Harold and Mary Wilson and maternal great grandmother Wilma Edick of Homedale, ID. and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather John Fisher.
Visitation hours will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 18, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.
Memorials in Tony’s honor may be made to the Tony Wilson Scholarship; c/o Dollars for Scholars; 1201 Bradley Road, Lynden, WA. 98264.

Carol Ann Terpsma-Nebbergall

Born in Everson, Washington on Jan. 2, 1942
Departed on Jul. 13, 2007 and resided in Mt. Vernon, WA.
Memorial Service: Wednesday, Jul. 18, 2007
Carol Ann Terpsma-Nebbergall, age 65, died at a Snohomish health care facility on Friday, July 13.
Carol was the daughter of Charles and Elisabeth Terpsma and grew up in the Everson area of Whatcom County and attended Lynden Christian Schools. She lived in Mt. Vernon for a number of years and had just recently moved to Snohomish. She is survived by a sister and two brothers.
A memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 18, at 2:00 p.m. in the Fireside Room of the Third Christian Reformed, 6th & Liberty Streets, Lynden with Pastor Tom Kok officiating. Her ashes will be interred in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden.
Memorials may be made to the Skagit Hospice Foundation; P.O. Box 1376; Mt. Vernon, WA. 98273.
