HARRY BRADFORD

On March 22, 2003, Harry Bradford, beloved husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle and friend, passed away in Yuma, Arizona.

Harry was born on Aug. 10, 1916, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Harry and Agnes Bradford.

During World War II, he proudly served his country -- first in the National Guard, then in the United States Coast Guard. He and his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Bobbi), met while he was stationed in Port Angeles, Wash.

They lived in Port Angeles, where he and his close friend and partner, Tom Carr, owned and operated Evergreen Meats and Seafood and, later, Olympic Distributing.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Agnes, and his son-in-law, John Mahoney.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Bobbi, daughter Shari Mahoney, grandson Dennis Chenault and wife Ann, and great-granddaughter Megan Nicole (born March 19, 2003); his ``other" daughter, Joanie Chamberlin and husband Curly; his sister, Louvilla Youngerman; his many nieces and nephews; and many, many dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a favorite charity in his memory.

MICHAEL ROBERT BAUMGARTNER

April 11, 1940 -- March 24, 2003

Michael Robert Baumgartner passed away Monday, March 24, having fought a long battle after he suffered an aneurysm in November 2001. He died peacefully and in the way he wanted, holding the hands of his wife and son.

He served in the Navy (never knowing how to swim) from 1962 to 1966 as an aircraft mechanic. He then went to work at McChord Air Force Base, working in civil service as a forklift mechanic. He was later promoted to supervisor of the General Purpose Shop at the base. Michael retired from McChord Air Force Base in 1988 after working for 27 years.

In 1989, he and his wife opened a small restaurant in Neah Bay called the Eagle Cafe. It was a favorite place for early morning fisherman, and there were many times he would feed fisherman before they opened.

He finally retired for good in 1990 after working for more than 30 years. Enjoying retirement, he found great joy in hunting with his bow, fishing with his friends and family, fine-tuning his salsa and working in his garden.

Michael is survived by his wife Susan; his three sons, Leonard Cottam, David Baumgartner and Kevin Baumgartner; four grandchildren, Abbigale, Jasmine and Isabelle Cottam and Leighton Baumgartner.

May you have a safe journey to wherever your spirit may take you. You will be missed by all who loved you, and even though your grandchildren are very young, you will now get to watch them from above as they keep growing and growing.

JOHN PERCY

Our father, John Percy, was born and raised in Santa Monica, Calif. He spent most of his youth at the beach and worked at the YMCA in the Sierra mountains.

He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity at UCLA and graduated in 1948. John met and fell in love with our mother, Joyce Murphy, and married in 1951. They have a son, Robert, and a daughter, Cindy.

Throughout his life, John was very active in Kiwanis, YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, his church and more.

After 25 years in southern California, John and Joyce moved to Santa Rosa, California, where they enjoyed the beauty and serenity of northern California for nearly 18 years.

One of his favorite activities while living in Santa Rosa was tennis. He was fun to pair with (at times a bit competitive!) and continued to play tennis well into his 70s.

In 1994, our parents moved to Sequim, Wash., once again, living in a beautiful area (this time) surrounded by the Olympic Mountains and the ocean. Much of his time was spent traveling to local destinations and trips to see his children and grandchildren.

Our father had a great passion for the ocean, a love for the mountains and respected all living things. But most importantly, he felt all this for his family and it was surely felt in return.

One fond memory is when we were children we camped in the Sierras often. We were given a nickel for every piece of trash we could find. This taught us to appreciate the beauty of our surroundings and to cherish Mother Nature and her serenity (not to mention making a few cents for our efforts).

John had a gift of gab, was quick to laugh, could truly put pen to paper, always ready to advise and eager to help. He was a man who had no enemies.

In the past several years, our father had a series of medical situations. He was a two-time cancer survivor. With the help of his loving wife and her tender loving care, he was able to survive the best he could.

Over the last days of his life, our father was comforted by his close friends at Unitarian Church, loved ones and his wife and children. He was reassured of our love, and with only a strong right-hand grip to work with, he was able to reciprocate.

He passed away peacefully with the bright sun blazing through his window, a whisper in his ear about the blue sea with sailboats nearby and an incredible rainbow stretching across the ocean.

Our loss is Heaven's gain.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Olympic Unitarian University, PO Box 1264, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
