Earl Deane Moe

Deane was born in Everett, WA to Earl and Esther Moe (LeFebvre) on March 31, 1932. He passed gently away on March 29, 2003 after a valiant struggle with cancer.

He will be deeply missed by Janet, his wife of thirty years; his children, Bill and wife Lolita (Alaska), Denise and husband Bob (Port Angeles), Dennis (Oregon), Anita and husband Ron (Federal Way), Kelly (Edgewood), Greg (Seattle), Sally (Virginia), and Sandy (unknown); 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

He also leaves behind his sisters, Linda Seat and husband David, Diane Seat and husband Dan, his brother Howard LeFebvre and wife Kathy, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Preceding Deane's passing were his parents, a son Frank and a daughter Sandra.

He served his country in the United States Air Force and went on to work 44 years at Boeing before he retired. He remained a member of the Machinist Union #751 and was extremely proud of his gold 50 years of membership card. Deane relished his Norwegian heritage, especially the lefse!

Deane was an unassuming, easy-going man who had a great sense of humor and loved to tease. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time around the campfire at Lake Connor Park sharing stories and jokes with the many friends he had there.

A casual potluck celebration of Deane's life will be held Saturday, April 5, 2003 in Clubhouse #2, at Lake Connor Park, 14320-28th NE, Lake Stevens, WA, at 1:00 p.m. Please call 1-425-334-5055 for directions.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.

Eva E. Bishop

Eva E. Bishop, formerly of Arlington, WA, took the Lord's hand on March 29, 2003 in Spring, TX.

Mrs. Bishop was a resident of Snohomish County since 1955. She was born in Jackson County, NC on April 23, 1914 to James and Ida McMahan. On June 12, 1933 she married David Paul Bishop and together they had 11 children. She was a remarkable homemaker who dedicated her life to her family. She was an avid gardener, and was loved by all.

Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, on April 8, 1988; and son, Bill, on November 8, 1972.

Eva is survived by sons, Clayton (Sandy) of Stanwood, WA, Cecil (Bonnie), Ike, Michael (Amy), and Ed, all of Arlington, WA, and Frank (Julie) of Kodiak, AK; daughters, Ann Smith of Columbia, SC, Edith (Claude) Widener of Thomasville, NC, Verna Fletcher of Spring, TX, and Vanessa (Larry) Miller of Houston, TX; brother Delios (Loreen) McMahan of Darrington, WA; 26 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Wellers Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Darrington City Cemetery.

The family extends a heart-felt appreciation to grandchildren, Geri, Kim, Christie, Tim, Jeffery, and Travis for their wonderful, loving care of her.

Gardner Mark Blough

Gardner Mark Blough, died April 1. 2003 in Everett, WA at the age of 43, after a long and debilitating illness. He was born July 20th, 1959 to George and Grace Blough. He was raised in the town of Woodway, WA with sisters; Cary (Tony Marris) Skinner and Denise (John Cherry) Berry.

Gardner worked in construction framing siding and remodeling homes. He enjoyed hiking and fishing in the Pacific Northwest, traveling to Grateful Dead concerts and watching his boys play hockey.

Gardner is survived by his mother, Grace (Christian) Blough, Everett; wife Renee (Keller) Blough, Lynnwood; and sons; Erik and Aaron Blough.

The family will hold a private graveside service and bury him next to his father and grandparents at the Edmonds Memorial Cemetery in Edmonds, WA.

Gardner will be remembered for his generosity, friendliness and wisdom.

Johanna E. Ramsey

Johanna E. Ramsey (Grandma Shorty) of Marysville passed away peacefully on March 29, 2003 of natural causes; she was 87 years old.

Funeral services will be held at Freeborn Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2003. Burial will be in Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery. There will be a reception following the service.

Arrangements under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood, WA.

Joseph A. Alexander

Joseph A. Alexander, 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 31, 2003 at Christian Health Care Center in Lynden, WA, where he had resided for the past four years.

Born in Acme, WA, he grew up in Skagit and Whatcom Counties. He graduated from Sedro Woolley High School and the U. of W. with a degree in Physical Education. He taught and coached at Burbank High School in California for several years. Later he attended Stanford University to become a physical therapist. He then returned to the northwest with his family and settled in Everett, where he worked for The Everett Clinic for 31 years. He found great satisfaction in helping his patients at the clinic, local hospitals and nursing homes.

After retiring in 1978 he enjoyed gardening, golfing, reading, sports events, and traveling.

He was a loyal, compassionate man, who had a strong faith and love for his Lord. Even in the past four difficult years, he did not lose his sense of humor, his broad smile, or his strong handshake. He attended Bethany Christian Assembly for over 50 years and was active on the church council, missions committee, and choir, as well as teaching Bible classes.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Iola (who still resides at CHCC in Lynden); three children, Susan (Jim) Youngquist of Everett, John (Joan) Alexander of Palmer, AK, and Steven (Cheryl) Alexander of Lynden; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and all four of his siblings.

Visitation Thursday, April 3, 2003 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy.

A memorial celebration will be held at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy, 1702 Pacific, Everett, WA on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. A private family burial will take place at Floral Hills.

Memorials may be made to Northwest Bible College, 5520 108th Ave. NE, Kirkland, WA 98009 or Christian Health Care Center, 855 Aaron Dr., Lynden, WA 98264.

Josephine A. (Bowman) Griffin

Josephine A. (Bowman) Griffin, age 86, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2003.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Griffin.

She is survived by sons, Don (Kay), Michael (Delores), and Jack (Stephanie); grandchildren, Jack, Matt, Stephen, Brad, Cassie, Heather; and four great grandchildren.

Family and friends are gathering on May 9th.

At her request, no services will be held. Cremation by Blietz Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Kenneth O. Rimstad

Ken Rimstad, 88, of Everett, went to be with his Lord and Savior April 2, 2003.

Ken was born April 13, 1914 in Saskatchewan, Canada, but was a resident of Everett for most of his life, and for several years in Seattle.

He was preceded in death by parents John and Tina Rimstad; brothers Ivan and John; and the mother of his children, Evelyn Rimstad.

Ken is survived by four daughters, Judy (Pat) McMullen, Donna (Ted) Tellefson, Susan Ollis, and Jinny (Terry) McCartney; grandsons John and Matt McMullen, Craig (Linda) Ollis, Eric Torgesen, and Dane and Hayden McCartney; great-grandson Ethan Ollis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

An Everett businessman with a great entrepreneurial spirit, Ken's outstanding characteristics were his deep Christian faith, great love of family and friends, and his generous nature. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

A celebration of Ken's life will be held Saturday, April 5th at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4504 Broadway, Everett (425- 252-2244).

Remembrances may be made to the charity of your choice.

Ken's family wishes to acknowledge with gratitude the loving care provided him in his last years by his dear friend Eleanor Wise, Seattle, Virginia Mason Clinic and Hospital, especially Dr. Steven Hayashi, Seattle, the care providers at Everett Rehabilitation & Care Center and Providence Everett Medical Center.

Lawrence "Larry" Lane

Lawrence "Larry" Lane, 60, of Spokane, WA, died on March 25, 2003 in Seattle, WA.

He was born on December 9, 1942 in Spokane, WA to Lawrence Lane and Dorothy Erickson (Hollowell). He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1963, and for the last 34 years he was an Auto Painter before retiring in 1997. He enjoyed auto racing, fishing and custom car painting.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his sons, Greg and his wife Tammy Lane of Lake Stevens, Sean Lane of Seattle, and Chad Lane of Spokane; sister Debbie Erickson of Spokane; grandchildren, Jeffery Wetzel, Bret Lane, Megan Lane, all of Lake Stevens, and Sierra Lane, Faith Lane, and Brooklyn Lane, all of Spokane, WA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Lane; stepfather, Wyman Erickson; sister Sandra Fountain; brother Ron Erickson; and son Darin Lane.

There will be a graveside inurnment on Monday, April 7, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, 21 Government Way, Spokane, WA.

Donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

Rebecca Ann Newland

Rebecca Ann Newland, 40, of Seattle, WA, died March 31, 2003.

She was born April 2, 1962 in Everett to Ben and Doris Newland. Rebecca graduated from Everett High School in 1980. Then graduated from the University of Puget Sound where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Rebecca was a Medical Benefits Administrator for UTILX Corp. in Kent, WA. She enjoyed her summers at the family beach home at Useless Bay on Whidbey Island, and traveling.

She is survived by her mother, Doris, of Edmonds; sister Lorraine Newland (and husband Gregg Salmon) of Whidbey Island; and brother Paul (wife Mary Carol Day) of MIddletown, NJ.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1990.

The Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Beck's Funeral Home, 405 5th Ave. S., Edmonds, WA 425-771-1234.

Memorials may be made in Rebecca's name to Virginia Mason, Breast Cancer Research or to a charity of your choice.

Roland G. Surdyk

Roland Surdyk, 60, of Snohomish, died March 30, 2003.

He was born on October 20, 1942 in Everett, WA. Roland was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a long time member of Snohomish Central Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; two sons, Brian, and Bill and spouse Missy; daughter Gayleen and spouse Malcolm; six siblings, Darlene, Lyle, Kenneth, Laura, Mary Sue, and Dale; and five grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Snohomish Central Christian Church on April 5th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospive of Snohomish County. God bless all of his family and friends.

Tracy Edward Lynn

Surrounded by his family, Tracy Lynn passed away peacefully March 30, 2003 following a short illness.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louise; his daughters Linda, Peggy, Julie, and Marjory; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Tracy was born October 16, 1915 in Ottowa, IL, one of six siblings. Following high school graduation, Tracy came to Washington to help build Ross Dam on the upper Skagit River. Just prior to the outbreak of World War II, Tracy was drafted and assigned to the 153rd Combat Engineers Battalion. For the next two-and-a-half years, Tracy helped build airfields, communication facilities, and military housing in the Aleutian Islands. Returning to the lower 48 in 1944, Tracy married Louise, in Detroit, MI on July 4. Tracy's unit was then reassigned to the European Theater and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.

At the end of the war, Tracy chose to give up his hard-won sergeant's stripes in favor of a quicker return stateside to his wife. After a short stay in Detroit, Tracy and Louise moved to Everett in the fall of 1945. Tracy worked many years at a variety of trades ranging from chain hand at the Marysville Shake Company to bridge and building construction for Great Northern to carpenter at the Seattle Naval Supply Depot.

An enthusiastic and skilled bowler, Tracy also supported youth baseball, financing equipment from his own pocket when funds ran short. Tracy enjoyed family life and could always be counted on to take the neighborhood kids for ice cream. He was a member of Everett Eagles F.O.E. 13, VFW Post 2100, and American Legion Post #6. In later years, Tracy was a frequent visitor to the Everett Senior Center where he donated many hours of service, greatly enjoyed the social activities, and proved a master at bingo.

Tracy will be greatly missed by his friends and family. At Tracy's request, no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bethany at Silver Lake Nursing Home, 2235 Lake Heights Drive, Everett, 98208.

The family would particularly like to thank Bethany and Hospice of Snohomish County for making Tracy's last months pleasant.

Dolores Olive Hawkes Peterson

Dolores Olive Hawkes Peterson left this world Thursday March 27, 2003 at 2:15 p.m. after 73 years on this earth.

She leaves her husband of 53 years, Elmer, with whom she shared her life in Lynnwood, WA. She also leaves behind her mother Betty and brother Sydney.

She joins her father and her son, Robert Wayne, who passed before her.

She will be missed by her other three sons, Alan, David and Philip, her daughters-in-law, Kathleen and Geralyn, and her grandchildren, Daniel, Laurel and Emerald. We will miss her devotion and determination.
