Janet Leone Miller

Janet Leone Miller of Bellingham, WA, went home to be with the Lord, due to complications of leukemia on May 1, 2003. With her family at her side she passed away peacefully. She was 60 years old.

Janet touched the lives of all she met. Her focus in life was always to serve the Lord and in doing so, serve those around her. Even in her last months when the disease was making her life difficult, she was much more concerned about the well being of others than of herself. She was a faithful daughter to her parents in Maryland, a faithful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. In 1982 Janet founded the Clothes Closet in Snohomish, WA to help provide free clothing to people in need. She worked tirelessly on this project for over 14 years. In the meantime she touched many families in need in whom she would take a special interest. In addition to the Clothes Closet, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Snohomish until 1997 when she and David moved up to Bellingham and joined the Northwest Baptist Church.

Janet loved to sew. Her family has many hand-sewn gifts that are a wonderful reminder of her generosity. Her grandchildren have been truly delighted for years with gifts of clothing, blankets, pillows, curtains and more that she spent hours lovingly creating for them, even in the days before her passing.

She brought great joy to all those who knew her and will be deeply missed by so many. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Northwest Baptist Church in Bellingham following a private family burial.
