L. Dolores Bell

Dec. 2, 1930 - July 21, 2003
Dolores was born in Everett, WA to the late Ferne and Dave Pelton. An Everett High-1948 graduate, she completed her education degree at Washington State College-1952; served on Mortar Board and was president of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Married in 1952 to James F. Bell, they raised four girls and she then returned to work teaching for the Seattle School District, finishing at Bailey Gatzert Elementary. After retiring, she started an ESL program in her church; a teacher who not only reached out to her students but to their families as well. She was a true unsung hero and a leader in community and church (St. Stephen's Lutheran, Campus Ministries) activities. A selfless volunteer, she never turned down an opportunity to help. Her unflagging optimism, wisdom and wit were her trademark. With unwavering integrity she was an inspiration to all who met her. Delores had a beautiful smile and warm and giving heart.

She is survived by her husband James, of 50 years of Seattle; daughters Claudia Bell of Seattle, Karen (Scott) Goll of Martinez, CA, Janet Bell of Seattle, and Tracy (Richard) McLellan of Bellingham; grandchildren Jenna and Lauren Goll, Derek, Ray, and Natalie Spitters, and Lila McLellan and the Boothbay clan. She is dearly missed by her lifelong friend and sister, Claudia Nelson of Everett and her loving brother and sister-in-law, John and Patte Pelton of Vancouver, WA, as well as her aunt, Mary Schock and cousins in Spokane, and her many nieces and nephews and their spouses whom she cared for deeply.
