Ronald E. Sterett, 59, formerly of Everett, WA, passed away July 27, 2003 in Vancouver, WA.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, 1101 N.E. 112th Avenue, Vancouver, WA.

Ronald "Turk" Charles Mahler

Ronald "Turk" Charles Mahler passed away on June 16, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham, WA.

Ron was born November 24, 1947 to Charles and Adella Mahler. After serving his country in Vietnam, he made a career of bridge painting. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and making people laugh.

Ron is survived by his father, Charles Mahler of Medford, OR; sister Gail Mahler of Burlington; brother Bob Mahler of Sedro Woolley; son Ryan Allen of Montana; daughters, Joanne Dutton and Jessica Mahler of Bellingham; four grandchildren; and countless good friends and relatives.

The Memorial service will be held at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood on Saturday, August 2, 2003 at 1:00 p.m.

Shawn Michael Christopher Tuohy

Shawn Michael Christopher Tuohy went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2003. He will join his mother, Kristy; and brother, Chad.

Shawn was a loving grandson, son, brother, cousin and friend. He loved the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and dedicated skier. He especially loved spending time with his many friends.

Shawn will be deeply missed by his caring grandparents, Bob and Gloria Godwin, and George and MaryAnn Wolfe; father Mark Tuohy; brother Jonathan Tuohy; aunts and uncles, Kim and Lynne Godwin, Chris and Cynthia Tuohy, Greg and Liz Tuohy, Theresa and Kelly Manglona, Tina and Rick Drew; cousins Brett and Liz Gaddis, Dallas Godwin, Rick Jr, and Jordin Drew. Shawn kept a special place in his heart for girlfriend, Amy Wyatt, who will remember him always.

Memorial Services will be held at Glad Tidings, Assembly of God Church in Darrington on Saturday, August 2, 2003, at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Darrington Volunteer Fire Department, or the Darrington Clinic.

Shirley "Jeanne" Nearing

Shirley "Jeanne" Nearing, 73, of Everett, WA died at home July 27, 2003.

She was born April 4, 1930 in Princeton, ID, the daughter of Dewey M. and Lillian V. Dixon. She lived in Potlatch, ID. Jeanne married David H. Nearing November 23, 1949. She worked for the City of Everett as a parking enforcement officer and retired after 25 years of service. She loved gardening, embroidering, crocheting, making Faberge eggs and collecting tea cups.

Jeanne is survived by her husband David; son David M. Nearing of Everett; daughter Faye I. Dawson of Lake Stevens; three grandchildren, Felicia, Kortney and Jonathan; three great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Ivan Dixon of Onaway, ID, Doris John of Potlach, ID, and Ronald Dixon of Potlatch, ID; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an older sister Billie Eifberg; and her parents, Dewey and Lillian Dixon.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1st at the Cypress Lawn Mausoleum. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the Mausoleum.

Arrangements are under the care of Solie Funeral Home.

William Harold Kennedy

Harold passed away at his home in Skykomish, WA on July 28, 2003. He was born in Townsend, MT on July 8, 1913.

Harold was known by many in the North Everett area where he enjoyed his favorite past-time after retirement, rebuilding automobile engines.

His son, Garth Kennedy, preceded Harold in death.

He is survived by his daughters, Jerry Ann (Don) Flynn, Sis Javier, Jackie (Wayne) Jones, all of Skykomish, WA, Gwen (Gary) Henry of Roseville, CA, Bettiejean Wilson of Wrangell, AK, and Laina Kennedy of Portland, OR. He is also survived by his sisters Mable Schreiner, Grace Barthule and Billie Marie Welterald; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

At Harold's request, no services will be held.

Jordan Matthew Gauthier

Jordan Matthew Gauthier, Dad's Little Buddy and our Precious Mighty Warrior went to Run, Dance and Climb Mountain Tops with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 30, 2003.

Jordan had fought a courageous battle against cancer for almost eight years. Jordan was ushered into the waiting arms of Jesus at his home in Snohomish, Washington while being surrounded by his family.

Jordan was eight years old. He was born on October 20, 1994. He will be missed by his family and friends who loved him very much. Jordan leaves his Dad and Mom, Rick and Heidi Gauthier, his sister Kristina and brother Nathan. Jordan also leaves his Grandparents: Richard (Dick) and Marilyn Gauthier, Dan and Shirley Philabaum, and Steve Carlson; Great Grandparents: Ruth Smith, Ervin Flickner, Becky Carlson, Robert Ludwig, and Helen Tucker; Uncles, Aunts, and cousins: Kevin and Michele Bullard; Shayla and Ian, Dan Gauthier; James and Shane, Craig and Cheryl Gordon; Joshua Gauthier, Mark and Shannon Shenouda; Christopher and Kaitlyn, Todd and Jennifer Philabaum; Hunter, and Lisa Philabaum.

Jordan loved his classmates, his teachers and bus drivers at Central Elementary School. He also loved to fish at Lake Roesiger, read and be read to. He encouraged everyone as he was such a special "listener".

The family will miss all of Jordan's nurses...each of whom has tenderly cared for and given much love to Jordan. The family would also like to extend a special "Thank you" to: Children's Hospital in Seattle, Health Team NW and A-1 Home Health Care.

Jordan has taught us all to love and pray expectantly. He has pointed every life that he touched to the Hope that awaits those who know Jesus Christ...We will see Jordan run and dance soon! We will spend eternity with Jordan. Our Strength is knowing that we will be with our Mighty Warrior Again! Jeremiah 29:11

A Celebration Service of Jordan's life will be Monday, August 4th, 2003, at 3:00 pm, at Cascade Church, 14377 Fryelands Blvd. SE, Monroe, WA 98272. Remembrances can be to Children's Hospital - Seattle, Jordan Gauthier Fund, P.O. Box 50020 MS#S200, Seattle, WA 98145-5020.

Betty Jo Sutton

Betty Jo Sutton passed away Monday, October 6, 2003 after a long illness, surrounded by her family.

Betty was born November 27, 1930 to Rellman and Alice McCroskey in Milner, Colorado. She lived in Mountlake Terrace for 53 years, where she and her former husband, Bob, raised their family. She enjoyed sewing, bowling, fishing and camping in her younger years, and later loved to shop for antiques and collectibles.

Betty is survived by her former husband, Bob; and her children, Mike (Kathi) of Maltby, Dan (Shelley) of Arlington, and Terri Withers (Rob) of Arlington. She leaves seven grandchildren, Vasheti, Jared, Andrea, Ryan, Annie Rose, Gunner and Taylor; and two great-grandchildren, Stephan and Chloe. She also leaves a friend, John; and her dear little dog, Sadie.

There will be an Open House at the family home in Mountlake Terrace on Saturday, October 11th from 2:00-5:00pm. Contact Kathi @ 425-485-3773

Daniel Dean Weiland

Daniel Dean Weiland, born in Muscatine, IA, on August 5 1957, a long time resident of Snohomish, WA, lost his long battle with diabetes on October 9 2003. He fought nobly with a sense of humor and at times a stubborn streak.

He enjoyed fishing, baseball, camping, going to the ocean and the mountains, and a good rock concert, the louder the better.

He was preceded in death by grand parents, C.B. and Grace Weiland of Marysville WA; ad Lester and lillian Eis of Muscatine, IA.

He is survived by his loving parents Ken and Lorriane Weiland, of Snohomish; brother and sister-in-law David and Karen Weiland of Erie, PA; sister Darla Macinnes and sister and brother-in-law Deb and Jay Stevenson, all of Snohomish; nieces Kami Wasilchen, Amanda Stevenson, and Nephew Kyle Olson; and also by Harold, whom he loved and raised as his own for the past many years.

He will live in our hearts forever, so he will always be here with us all.

A celebration of his life will be held at 4418 171st Ave., Snohomish WA on Sunday October 19th from 1:00 until 3:00pm.

Desmond F. Hinds

Desmond F. Hinds, 83, of Snohomish, WA, passed away in Everett, WA October 7, 2003 after a brief battle with bone cancer.

He was born in Sedro Woolley, WA on November 2, 1919 to Lillie V. (Goshorn) and Horace H. Hinds. He married Virginia C. Brossard on May 31, 1939 and celebrated their 64th anniversary this year. Des lived most of his, near 84, years on Dubuque Road, Snohomish, the area where he grew up, resided with his wife, and raised three daughters. In his youth he was part of the CCC building trails and fighting forest fires in the Northwest. A third generation logger he owned and operated his own business, was a partner in the Diamond Circle S Mill located at Lake Roesiger, and in semi-retirement he contracted as a dozer operator clearing land. His immense love of the outdoors took him and Virginia hunting, fishing, and collecting rocks and gemstones throughout the Northwest states, Alaska and Canada. Their vast rock and gem collection was donated and is on display at the Rice N.W. Museum of Rocks & Minerals in Hillsboro, OR.

Desmond is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia; daughters, Gloria (Glen) Hacker of Mexico, Nita (Denny) Gilfillan of Chelan, and Bev Hinds of Snohomish; grandchildren, Gregg Hacker, Gary Hacker, April (Rick) Carlson, Michelle Gilfillan, Laina (Curt) Christianson, and Alan (Carrie) Davis; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Julia (William) Shaffer and Gay (Bud) McAlister; aunt Fern Goshorn; and 15 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie and Horace Hinds; sisters, Pearl Wolk and Joyce Ryner; brother Rolland Hinds; and one nephew.

No services at his request.

Arrangements are under the direction of Purdy & Walters with Dawson in Snohomish.

Edna Irene Burnside

Edna Irene Burnside went home to her Lord and Savior on September 22, 2003. She would have celebrated her 77th birthday today.

Irene was born in Arkansas and raised in Ada, OK with seven older brothers and sisters. Her father died in an oil rig accident when she was very young. Irene graduated from Seminole High School and set out for the San Francisco Bay Area.

She worked as a secretary/ bookkeeper until her glamorous, movie star looks and personality resulted in a whirlwind courtship and marriage to her husband, Frank, now deceased. She happily and lovingly applied herself to homemaking and mothering her daughters, Carol and Donna, who currently reside in Granite Falls, WA and Lynden, WA.

Her family expresses their thanks and gratitude to the staff of Madeline Villa in Marysville where she received the very best of care for the last 13 years. They loved and cared for her with kindness and compassion as her mind and body were slowly ravaged by a debilitating illness. Thanks also to our friend, Dr. Harold Clark, who managed her health care for over 15 years.

Edward R. Jones

Edward R. Jones, 94, of Sun City West, AZ, passed away October 5, 2003. He was born June 10, 1909 in Flint, MI.

Edward is survived by his wife of 35 years, Hazel B.; his daughters Patricia (Merrit) Stephens of Daytona Beach, FL, Kathi M. Pierce of Kirkland, WA, and Peggy L. Hagen (Steve Senn) of Auburn, WA; stepson Gerald (Joanne) Vanderyacht of Port Orchard, WA; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and loved ones.

No services will be held at his request.

Elsie D. Rule

Elsie D. Rule, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2003 in Everett, WA.

Elsie was born on July 13, 1915, in Everett, WA to John and Elizabeth Rosenbloom. She attended school in Everett, graduating from Everett High School. Elsie then attended General Hospital of Everett's School of Nursing, from which she graduated in 1938 as a registered nurse. In 1942, she became a member of the Army Nursing Corps, serving in England during World War II. During this time she met Louis Smith, whom she married in 1945. Together they made their home in Everett for 35 years. Elsie retired from General Hospital of Everett after being employed there as a registered nurse after many years.

When Louis passed away in 1985, Elsie became re-acquainted with an old family friend, George Rule, whose wife had also recently passed away. After a long distance courtship, they were married in 1987. Together they spent 10 enjoyable years, dividing their time between Florida and Whidbey Island. After George passed away in 1997, Elsie returned to live in her hometown of Everett.

Elsie is survived by three daughters, Susan (Darrell) Posch of Whidbey Island, Elsa Minch of Tacoma, WA, and Sharon (Dan) Harris of Camano Island; two grandchildren, Jeff Minch and Gretchen Minch; and four great grandchildren.

There will be a viewing on Monday, October 13, 2003 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway, Everett. Private services will be held for the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of your choice.

Elva H. Anderson

Elva H. Anderson, born January 18, 1920 in Grantsville, UT, passed away at her home in Lynnwood on October 9, 2003.

Former Sequim resident, she moved to Lynnwood in 2000.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, J. Russell Anderson; sons, Roy (Sharron) and David (Kathy) Anderson; daughters, Bonnie Giddens, Judy Johnson and Becky von-Stade; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

At her request, there will be no services. Inurnment will be held at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, Salt Lake City, UT.

James Ray Wicher

Feb. 19, 1939 - Oct. 8, 2003

Jim passed away unexpectedly on October 8, 2003.

He was born in Sioux Falls, SD to Ray and Kathleen Wicher.

Jim attended school in Sioux Falls until the family moved to Everett, WA where he attended and graduated from Everett High School. He also attended Everett Community College.

Jim served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Scotts Paper Co. after 35 years of service.

Jim loved his wife and family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved playing with them and they loved their Grandpa. Jim enjoyed his motorcycle taking some cross country trips but most of all loved taking his wife after dinner for quick fun rides around Whidbey Island. Jim loved music and playing his piano and occasionally his cornet. Jim loved to go to the San Juans in his boat. He was very interested in family geneology and enjoyed visiting places in the U.S. where great grandparents had once resided. He enjoyed his computer and checking the stock market. Jim loved life, his family and friends and was always there for anyone who needed him.

Jim was very talented in woodworking and was in the process, near completion, of a complete remodel of his home, inside and out, top to bottom. He took great pride in doing an exemplary job. His home shows the care to details that he did.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Marjorie at home; son, Warren (Minda); daughter, Sue Nagy; son, David (Jill); grandchildren, Max, Jansen, Donovan and Cody; sisters, Corrine (Jerry) Wooldridge of Anchorage, AK and Miriam (Rich) Greenshields of Marysvile, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

Jeannine Mae Moore

Nov. 29, 1930 - Oct. 4, 2003

Jeannine's dear, sweet, tender soul deeply touched the lives of so very many. Her sparkling smiles, her hugs and her humor will live on forever in our hearts.

A memorial service and a celebration of life has been planned for Sunday, October 12th. Please contact her family for time and location.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to First Avenue Service Center, Inc. of Seattle or NAMI of Snohomish County.

Kristine Lervold

Kristine went home to be with the Lord, October 1, 2003 after a traffic accident.

She was born March 20, 1953 in Seattle to the late Lars and Helen Lervold. She was a graduate of Arlington High School. Kristine lived in Seattle the last 20 years.

Kristine is survived by brothers, Brent and Bryan; and cousins of the late Rev. Ed and Mary Anderson, Inez Wienbergen, Ivan and Gert Risdon, and Orville Lervold.

Memorial services will be at University Presbyterian, 15th Ave NE , Seattle on Monday October 13th, at 1:00pm.

Lillian Lynch

Lillian Lynch, 84, of Lynnwood, died October 8, 2003 at her home.

She was born on November 4, 1918 in Canada to Joe and Jensena Mehlsen.

Lillian is survived by daughter Marie Peterson and husband Archie; grandson Bob and wife Lyn Peterson; granddaughter Karen and husband Jeff Everson; great grandchildren, Kyle and Lacey Peterson; and all the Mehlsen family located in Northern Canada.

The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood.

Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or Heart Association.
