Lew Nylund of Marysville, WA born June 15, 1946 in Tacoma, WA, died May 25, 2004.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ted Nylund; brother, Gary Nylund. He is survived by his mother, Edith Nylund of Tacoma, WA; sister, Ann (Dennis) Roe of DuPont, WA; two nieces and one nephew.

At Lew's request, no services will be held. A donation can be made to your favorite charity if you wish.

Lloyd Grinage, Jr.

May 1, 1936 - May 28, 2004

Lloyd Grinage, Jr., 68, of Snohomish, WA, passed away in a local hospital.

He leaves his wife, Mary, of 45 years; son Brad and wife Sherri Grinage; daughter Janet and husband Darrell Dockter; grandchildren, Stacy, Derek, Adam, Jason, and Kalie; great grandchildren, Aliyah and Ryan; and sister, Barbara and husband Ray Gard of Michigan.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 1st at Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish.

Rudolph Sydow

Rudolph (Rudy) J. Sydow, 82 of Marysville, WA, passed peacefully at Regency Care Center on May 27, 2004 after a long and courageous battle of complications from diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; over the past several years he has been lovingly supported by members of the Atonement Free Lutheran Church and by his family.

A memorial service and reception will be held on Tuesday, June 1st at 11:00am followed by a luncheon at the Atonement Free Lutheran Church, two miles east of Smokey Point at 6905 172nd St, Arlington.

A covered awning will be at the graveside for personal remembrances at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Everett.

Arrangements by Purdy & Walters with Cassidy.

Remembrances can be made to the Benevolence Fund of the Atonement Free Lutheran Church.

Anna Louise McGuinness

Anna Louise McGuinness was born on August 18, 1933 in Seattle, WA. She grew up in Cathcart, WA, but resided in Buckley. On May 28, 2004 she peacefully passed away in Tacoma, WA surrounded by her loved ones. She has gone to join her husband Bernard J. McGuinness of 46 years who preceded her in death in August 1997.

She is survived by her three children, Mitchell McGuinness of Seattle, WA, Pamela Hansen and Michael McGuinness, both of Buckley, WA; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister Vicki Reed of Clearview, WA; brother Steve Volz of Sitka, AK; her kitty companion Boodles; and numerous other family and friends.

Anna was a member of the Women of the Moose and also an avid Mariner fan and bingo player. We all loved her and she will truly be missed.

Services will be held at the Moose Lodge of Enumclaw, 24506 SE 448th on Thursday, June 3rd at 1:00pm.

Memorials may be made to White River Dollar for Scholars, c/o White River School District, Buckley, WA 98321.

Betty Jean Wellen

Sept. 15, 1937 - May 26, 2004

Betty Jean Wellen went to be with her Lord and Savior, the morning of May 26, 2004.

Visitation will be held at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Lynnwood today from 9:00am until 5:00pm. Services will be held Thursday, June 3rd at Bethany Christian Assembly, 2715 Everett Ave, Everett at 11:00am.

Betty S. Dobson

July 16, 1928 - May 27, 2004

Our beautiful and remarkable wife, mother and grandmother has slipped quietly away to journey home. We will miss her sassy quips and excellent cooking, but most of all her endless love with which we all were blessed.

Loving her always are her prince and devoted husband, Marvin; son Steve (Edie); daughter Kathy (Nick); sons, Kirk, Joe (Kathy), and Keith (Lori). Grandchildren, Karie-Rose, Joe, Kevin, Tony, Kenny, and Kelly; and great-grandsons, Ben and Doug are her treasures. She was also loved by many nieces and nephews; brother Bob Thomas; cousin Lally Agee; in-laws, Fred and Jeanette Dobson, Billy and Rowena Dobson, Faye Dobson and June and Lee Booker; and devoted friends, Les Kubec and wife Josephine, who provided loving care and support during these difficult months.

Betty's parents, Edward Thomas and Maxine Carr Thomas preceded her in death; as well as brothers, Ed and Bill and sisters-in-law, Dot, Charlotte, and Grace Thomas.

Graveside services will be held at the Marysville Cemetery on Friday, June 4th at 11:00am under the direction of Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville, WA. An informal gathering will be held at the family home following the service.

In lieu of floral tributes, please think of mom when you share an act of kindness.

Bonnie Marie Cook

Bonnie Marie Cook, born December 6, 1926 in Joplin, MO, died May 29, 2004 in Monroe, WA.

Bonnie graduated from White Pines High School in Ely, NV in 1945 and was a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company, also in Ely, NV. She was a volunteer for NALA, tutoring in literacy and English as a new language since 1976.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 48 years, Norman Cook; two sons, Charles Patrick Cook and Stephen Riley Cook; and two daughters, Norma Jean Cook and Donna Lynn Andersen.

There will be a viewing today, June 2nd from 5:00 until 8:00pm and a Funeral Service on Thursday, June 3rd, at 1:00pm, both at Purdy & Kerr Funeral Home, Monroe, WA.

Dallas Roger Hardina

Dallas Roger Hardina passed from this life to the next last Saturday, the 29th of May, 2004 one day before his 72nd birthday.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Steve) Butterfield; son, Bryan (Teresa) Hardina; son, Josh Hardina; and two grandchildren, Dalla B. Hardina and Jordan Butterfield.

Born in Britton, SD, Dallas served in the Army, worked on the railroad, and eventually retired from a career with the Postal Service. Though he suffered from several physical complications, towards the end of his life he never lost his quick wit, bright sense of humor, and his undying love for his children and grandchildren.

In honor of Dallas' wishes the family will come together to hold a private celebration of his life.

Elin Edvalds Andreas

Sept. 20, 1907 - May 29, 2004

Elin was born in Iceland and raised at Point Roberts, WA. She married Dui Edvalds in 1929 when they were both employed at Alaska Packers Cannery and moved to Blaine in 1934. Dui was employed by the government in 1941, and in 1943 they moved to Ballard. Our mother was a homemaker and she loved those family days and her friends in Ballard.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Dui Evalds, Ervin Olson, and Frank Andreas; and daughter Lillian Barnes.

She is survived by sons, Harold (Delma) of Tacoma, John (Win) of Tacoma, Fred (Joan) of Bothell and Arizona, and Leslie of Seattle; daughters, Lorraine (Gordon) Eliason of Everett and Cheryl Bovee of California; and 90 grand and great grandchildren.

Special thanks to Merry Haven and (Hearthside) Sunrise of Snohomish for their loving care.

The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 3 at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, Lynnwood, 425-672-1800. "Gone to Ballard".

George F. Cunningham

George F. Cunningham, born February 6, 1928, in Park City, UT, died peacefully at his home with his family about him on May 29, 2004 in Lynnwood, WA.

A memorial service will be held a 3:00pm today at Calvary Chapel in Everett, WA.

Irma A. Engbretson

Irma A. Engbretson, age 79, born September 13, 1924 in Aberdeen, WA, entered into rest on May 27, 2004 in Shoreline, WA.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Skaare and Carol Sroke; son Dan Engbretson; two sisters, Luella Sisk and Dorothy Drobner; six grandchildren, Deborah Causey, John Skaare, Scott Sroke, Jeffrey Sroke, Brandon Engbretson, Christopher Engbretson, and Erin Christensen.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Engbretson in 1999.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, June 7, 2004 at 1:00pm at Edmonds United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers Street, Edmonds. The private inurnment will be at Edmonds Memorial Cemetery, Edmonds.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cristwood Good Sam Fund, 350 N. 190th Street, Shoreline, WA 98133.

Janida J. Ranton

Janida J. Ranton, 65, of Edmonds, WA, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly May 30, 2004, into the loving arms of her savior.

Janida Olson was born October 9, 1934 in Ottuma, IA. She spent most of her life in the Seattle area. Janida was actively involved with the Gideons International and loved working with people.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years Herbert; two daughters, Rene (Dale) Sutton, and Janna (Chris) Kinnear; seven grandchildren whom she dearly loved; plus a large extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Gideons International Memorial Bible Program at www.gideons.org or P.O. Box 394 Lynnwood, WA 98036.

Services will be held at Westgate Chapel in Edmonds on Thursday, June 3rd at 3:00pm.

Libbie Vance

Libbie Vance, age 91, of Arlington, WA, died May 31, 2004 in Everett.

Funeral Services will be announced by Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville at a later date.

Mary Louise "Mary Lou" Dalberg

Mary Louise "Mary Lou" Dalberg passed away peacefully May 31, 2004. She was born March 19, 1917 to Martin L. and Mary B. Savage in Garret County, Maryland.

She was preceded in death by her father Martin L. Savage in 1967; mother Mary B. Savage in 1982; husband Harold "Hal" Dalberg in 1991; and brother, W. N. Savage in 1998.

She is survived by her son Jon Dalberg and daughter-in-law Stephanie Pahlow; grandchildren Brian and Margret Pahlow; sister-in-law Mabel Savage; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Lou also leaves behind many friends at Cascadian Place in Everett and at her summer residence by Mutiny Bay on Whidbey Island.

Mary met her husband Harold in Baltimore, MD during World War II and moved to Everett after his return from Germany. She loved life and providing and caring for her family. In her spare time, her hobbies included stamp and coin collecting, and playing cards. Mary was always ready for a trip to Reno or a local casino to play blackjack, keno, or slots. You could always find her on Thursday nights playing poker with her friends at Cascadian Place. She was a devout Mariner, Seahawks, Sonic and Husky fan, always pulling for her local team.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers through the final months of Mary's life including the Everett Transitional Care Unit at Pacific Campus, Hospice of Snohomish County, and the staff of Autumn House (Joan, Laras, Janet, Carol, Irene, Kim and Dennis) who truly made her final days ones filled with much comfort and care.

Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, Salvation Army, Everett Gospel Mission, Pasado's Safe Haven or the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Home.

At Mary's request, there will be no services.

Phillip Beto

Dec. 2, 1943 - May 30, 2004

In Loving Memory of "Buddy"
Phillip Beto, known to his friends as "Buddy" passed away unexpectedly in Mount Vernon, WA.

Buddy is survived by his daughter Mishelle Cushman of Everett; long time companion Brenda McGhee of Mount Vernon; and countless friends whose lives he touched. Reflections of Mishelle- "Unspoken Words never changed the love for you Father". Buddy will be missed by everyone whose life he touched.

There will be private family services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Affordable Burial & Cremation Services, LLC Mount Vernon, WA.

Rev. Marjory Aleta Williams

Marjory Williams was born to Ernest and Leone (Davis) Thompson on March 22, 1921 in Wilcox, Saskatchewan and, passed away May 29, 2004 at her home as an Honorary Tulalip Tribal Member at Tulalip.

She married B. Adam Williams in 1943 while they were attending Pacific Bible College in Portland, OR. In 1947, they were sent to the Tulalip Indian Reservation to pastor the Tulalip Church of God. Together Adam and Marge led church services, taught Sunday School classes, officiated over marriages and funerals, put on community Christmas programs, provided the youth of the community with sports and other recreational activities, provided transportation for those without cars, helped start a reservation foster home for Indian children, began a reservation AA program, and frequently shared their home and small resources with those less fortunate than themselves.

When Adam died in 1978, Marge was asked to pastor the church. In addition to her church responsibilities, she ran a food bank out of the church for about 20 years, was Chairperson of a Local Indian Child Welfare Advisory Committee (Dept. of Social and Health Services), and sat on the local Foster Care Citizen Review Board that advised the Superior Court. She was also a member of Snohomish County Disability Board, Marysville Ministerial Association.

Marjory was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Adam Williams; her sister and brother-in-law, Willis and Gertrude Grove; her brother-in-law Don Barrett; and many other loved ones in her extended family.

She leaves her children Sherry (Ben) Guydelkon, Terry (Sue) Williams, Sandy Tracy and Daryl Williams; grandchildren, Dan Smith, Kim (Geoff) Spry, Josh Williams, Jesse Williams, Jamie Williams, Michael (Melinda) Tracy, and Jennifer Tracy; great-grandchildren Jaida and LaChelle; sister Bea (Poncho) Sager; brother Ernest M. (Noreen)Thompson; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Campbell and Betty (John) Teerink; numerous nephews and nieces; special friends Pat Brown, Connie Bond and Tom and Bev Gobin, Stan and Joanne Jones, Bernie and Delores Gobin, Steve and Judith Swanson and Frances Morden; and especially the congregation of the Tulalip Church of God; the Tulalip Food Bank volunteers, and; her many friends in the Tulalip Tribal Community.

A Viewing Service was held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, 804 State Ave. followed by an Interfaith Service at 6:30pm at the Tulalip Tribal Center. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am today at the Tulalip Tribal Center with a graveside service following at Mission Beach Cemetery.

Richard H. Tucker

Richard H. Tucker, born November 23 1936, passed away at home on May 30, 2004 after a short struggle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 49 years Shirley, Gordy and Robyn (daughter) Cave, and his sons, Rick, Ron, Rusty, and Ross.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Ruby Tucker of Everett; and his sister Patricia Rounds of Mukilteo.

Dick and Shirley were the owners of Washington Recycling for over 25 years. Their business was the largest privately owned recycling center in the state of Washington and added millions of dollars to the local Everett economy. Dick was also on the Snohomish County Solid Waste Committee and was involved in helping set up the recycling program now in use by Snohomish County.

He was a long time member of the Eagles Aerie #13.

Dick was a big Husky football fan and was a season ticket holder for a number of years. He was also a major Mariner fan. But his biggest love was fast-pitch softball. He was an exceptional player, coach and sponsor. As a player in the 50's he was one of the best outfielders in area. As a coach he took several women's team to state and regional championships and one women's slow-pitch team to a national title. Dick and Shirley sponsored the Washington Recycling men's team for 14 years providing a competitive fast-pitch experience for the next generation of softball players. His love for the game was past on to a grandson and a granddaughter that still play the game.

Dick always had an eye for collectibles and enjoyed collecting baseball and football cards, Jim Beam decanter bottles and Breweriana (Collecting Brewery related items).

In his last few years Dick and Shirley enjoyed their retirement, spending time with family and friends at Lake Conner Park and traveling in their motor home.

Dick is also survived his brother James and his grandkids DG and Kenny Cave, Sarah and Whitney Tucker, Doug and Alan Knoll, Nicole and Katherine Tucker.

Dick was considered a lovable old fart with a sharp tongue and a quick wit and a great sense of humor, he'll be missed by all, including his mutt Bo-Bo.

A Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 3, 2004 at 11:00am in the chapel of Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036. A private interment will take place later.
