Cecille Barrett Allen

Cecille Barrett Allen, born June 18, 1910 in Ferndale, WA, passed away on June 8, 2004 in Bellevue, WA.

She lived in Everett for 30 years and practiced nursing at Providence and Everett General. Her husband Babe (William) Allen worked for Great Northern Railroad. He passed away in 1970.

Cecille leaves her daughter Marjorie (Tom) Thompson; son Bill (Peggy) Allen; five grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

Rememberances may be sent to the Arthritis Foundation.

Clifford G. Verner

Cliff Verner, 92, passed away May 20, 2004.

A celebration of his life wil be held on Saturday, June 19th from 11:00am until 12:30pm at the Church of Nazarene, 5326 176th St. SW, Lynnwood, WA.

Darren Jon Torkkola

Darren Jon Torkkola, 44, passed away June 13, 2004 while awaiting kidney and liver transplants. His loving wife of 24 years and children were by his side.

Darren was born on August 27, 1959 in Grand Rapids, MN to Jon and Darlene Torkkola. He graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1977. At the age of 18 he began his career as an aerospace mechanic for Boeing. During his 26 years there, he made many long-lasting friend-ships.

He is survived by his wife April; daughter Brittania (Adolfo); son Adam; mother Darlene; brothers, Duane (Mimi) and Rod (Stephanie); sister Linda; brothers-in-law, Verne (Bev) and Bruce (Bonnie); sister-in-law Cheryl (Jeff); and close friends Brad and Denise Wallace, Ken Miller, Darrell Roberts, and Blaine Jost. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Jon Torkkola in 1996; father-in-law Kenneth Bond in 1990; mother-in-law Ethel Bond in 1996; and brother-in-law Kenny Bond in 1990.

Darren loved being involved with sports. He played baseball throughout his childhood and coached little league for several years. He enjoyed playing fantasy football with his many friends in the Monday Knights league. He also attended various sporting events with his family and friends each year.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tim McNamara and the Puget Sound Kidney Center in Mount Lake Terrace for their dedication and compassion.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday June 19th at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy.

In lieu of flowers please donate the gift of life and register to become an organ donor.

Glenn H. Memmer

Glenn H. Memmer, 76, of Snohomish, WA died June 14, 2004.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, June 18th at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2324 Lombard Ave., Everett. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday June 16th from 5:00 until 7:00pm and Thursday, beginning at 9:00am, with the Rosary being said at 7:00pm at the Solie Funeral Home Chapel, 3301 Colby Ave., Everett.

Gloria "Granny" Gihlstrom

Gloria "Granny" Gihlstrom, born August 4, 1931 in Polson, MT, died June 12, 2004 in Monroe, WA.

She was the owner of Hansey's Western & Tack Shop in Monroe, WA for 20 years.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Nels; and her sister Dona Lehman.

She is survived by her son Ronald and his wife Maria Gihlstrom; daughter Wendy and her husband Eric Geyer; sister Ramona Gordon of Georgia; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and good friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am until 7:00pm on Thursday, June 17th at Purdy & Kerr Funeral Home in Monroe. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, June 18th, also at Purdy & Kerry Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Lane S. Langsjoen

Lane S. Langsjoen, age 86, died June 11, 2004 in Arlington, WA.

He lived his entire life in the Silvana and Arlington area. Lane was born January 28, 1918 to Henry and Dora Langsjoen, Stillaguamish Pioneers. Lane was a dairy farmer, a logger and was shop foreman for Snohomish County Road District #1 at the time of his retirement.

He was active in forming the Silvana Fire Department and was a volunteer fireman. He also maintained the Silvana Water Co. for many years.

Lane was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors. He and his wife enjoyed camping and traveling in their motorhome. The many trips to Alaska and time spent at the cabin in Winthrop these last years were very special to him.

He is survived by Lois, his best friend and wife of 59 years; daughter, Joanne and son-in-law John Mattson; sister-in-laws, Betty Bergerson of Crestline, CA, Joan Walen of Graham, WA, and Mary Langsjoen of Arlington; and an extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Irvine Langsjoen; and sister Myrtle Stensaa.

Memorials may be made to the Silvana Fire Department or to a charity of your choice.

At his request no services will be held. Burial in Anderson Cemetery, Stanwood, WA.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood, WA.

Myrtle R. McLain

Myrtle R. McLain, 64, of Snohomish, WA, died June 12, 2004.

She was born December 28, 1939 in Snohomish and was a life long resident.

Myrtle was a dedicated mother and housewife and is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jerry; son Jerry; daughters, Toni, Tammi, Dawn, and Debbra; 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister Donnie Dodge; and brother Les.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 17th at Woodlawn Cemetery, Snohomish. Cremation arrangements under the direction of Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish.

Nathan B. Maudlin

Nathan B. Maudlin, 86, beloved Father, Grandfather and friend, passed away on Friday June 11, 2004.

A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 16, 2004 at 3:00pm at Arlington Cemetery, 20310 67th Ave N.E., Arlington.

Arrangements by Weller Funeral Home.

Patricia Thorngate

After an extended illness, Patricia Thorngate passed away at her residence on April 10, 2004.

Patricia was born on March 11, 1940 in Valley County, NE. Shortly after graduating from North Loup High School she moved to Washington and for many years was employed by the Boeing Company. Later she worked as a counselor for Snohomish County Corrections where she retired after 20 years of service. She was an avid bird watcher and loved everything in nature.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Grace Thorngate; two sisters, Dorothy Thorngate, and Doris Annyas; and one brother, Walter.

She is survived by one brother and his wife, George and Jimmie Thorngate of Lincoln, NE; one sister Carol Moser and her husband Rick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in Nebraska.

Donations can be made to Hospice of Snohomish County.

Steve Arsenault

August 1, 1929-June 11, 2004

Gerard S. (Steve) Arsenault, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the age of 74.

He was born in Berlin, NH, the 18th child of Richard and Elizabeth, survived by his youngest brother Jackie of Somersworth, NH.

He was proud of his five older brothers who collectively served during World War II. He himself, served 4 years in the Air Force (1947-1951), which brought him to Silver Lake Base in Everett, WA, where he met his wife of 53 years, Marilyn.

Steve was a Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic by trade, but family and friends remember him as someone who could build or repair anything. Steve was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles, sports and music, particularly, Frank Sinatra and The Rat Pack.

In his earlier years, Steve coached Little League Baseball in the Lynnwood area, as well as coaching Ed - Lynn Junior Soccer, serving one year as President.

He is survived by his devoted wife Marilyn, daughter Sandy (Rick) Jones, eldest son Mike, granddaughter Amy Lee, the daughter of youngest son Steve (Shauna), step-grandchildren Justin and Rechelle Jones, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday, June 17, 2004 at 11:00am at Solie Funeral Home, 3301 Colby Ave., Everett, WA. Graveside services to follow at Cypress Lawn. Following the services, the family welcomes all to a celebration of Steve's life at Silver Shores Mobile Park Clubhouse.

Memorial donations may be made to Everett Gospel Mission or the American Lung Association.

Debra L. Nickel (Cardoza)

Debra L. Nickel (Cardoza), born June 10, 1957 in Everett, WA, died June 25, 2004 after battling Ovarian Cancer for 22 months.

The Memorial Service and Reception will be held at the Beaver Lake Park Outdoor Pavilion, 25201 SE 24th St., Sammamish, WA on Thursday, July 1st at 6:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Arbor Day Foundation or Pacific Ovarian Cancer Research Consortium are appreciated.

Erma Cross

Erma Cross, age 90, of Bothell, WA, died June 26, 2004.

She was born September 17, 1913 in Everett, WA, the daughter of Albert and Anna Quentin, and lived in Everett until 1933 when she hitch-hiked to New York, worked as a dental assistant, met and married Bill Curry in 1935 and moved back to Washington. Erma married Chuck Cross in 1969.

She graduated from Everett High School in 1931. She worked as a cook for Jolly Boys Diner in Renton and Lee's Restaurant in Olympia for more than 25 years. In her later years she was an active member of the VFW in Olympia with her husband, Charles Cross.

Erma is survived by; her son Charles Curry; a daughter Carol Taylor; a stepdaughter Debbie Sparkes; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother Herb Quentin; sister Phyllis Griffith; and two husbands, Charles William Curry, and Charles Cross.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, July 1st at the Solie Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to follow in the Fireside Room.

Donations may be made to the Children's Orthopedic Hospital.

Frank H. Crosby

Dec. 10, 1919 - Jun. 25, 2004

Frank H. Crosby passed away after a brief illness on June 25, 2004 at the Veterans Hospital in Seattle, WA.

He was born in Goodridge, MN on December 10, 1919 and settled in Everett, WA in the 1940's. He worked at Simpson Paper Company for 20 years and retired from the Snohomish County Public Works in 1981. Frank was active in youth baseball for many years as a coach and was an American Legion Baseball Commissioner. He was active in the American Legion Post #6 in Everett most of his adult life.

Frank was preceded in death by: his wife Jane; and his oldest son Ron.

He leaves behind: two sons, David (Vicki), and Jon (Teri); five grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held in his memory.

Arrangements by Evergreen Funeral home, Everett.

James Cecil Francis

"Red" Francis, 92, of Edmonds, WA, passed away June 17, 2004.

He was born December 5, 1911. He lived in North Bend until his marriage to Georgia Ryno, who passed away in 1972.

He is survived by: Sue, his wife of 29 years; daughters, Sharon Francis and Beverly (G.W.) Frazier of Edmonds; stepdaughters, Debbie (Doug) Smith and Cathy (Andy) Mordente of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother John (Bernice) Francis of Monroe.

Among his jobs were welder in the Oakland Shipyard building the Liberty Ship, Pointer-Willamette heavy equipment sales, Hopper Chevrolet sales, carpenter on the construction of the Everett Boeing plant, bus driver, Yost Company for Ford sales, owner Edmonds Shoe Repair and 23 years volunteer with the Edmonds Fire Department.

Services will be held on July 2nd at 1:00pm at Edmonds United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers.

Remembrances may be made to the Edmonds Fire Department or the Edmonds Food Bank.

Joy Ann Jensen

Joy Ann Jensen, 69, of Granite Falls, WA, went on to her eternal reward with the Lord Jesus Christ on June 24, 2004 after a prolonged illness.

She was born October 6, 1934 in Port Angeles, WA, the daughter of Harold and Erma Bates and lived in Granite Falls the last 34 years. She married Harlen Jensen on June 24, 1950.

Joy Ann is survived by: her husband of 54 years, Harlen Jensen; her children, Diana (Hank) VanLiew, Darlene Cheyney, Daniel (Beatrice) Jensen, DeIla (Steve) Bosse, Dwight (Margaret) Jensen, Dawn (Jay) Hardy, Darin (Jivon) Jensen, and Diamond (Duane) Berger; 30 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; infant son; and a grandson.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, July 2nd at Marysville First Assembly, 4705 Grove Street, Marysville, WA with a reception to follow. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 1st from 10:00am until 8:00pm at the Solie Funeral Home Chapel, Everett, WA. She will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Everett, WA.

Mary Ann Rush Misich

Mary Ann Rush Misich, who died on June 26, 2004 in Snohomish, WA, was born on May 6, 1923 in Lowell, WA to Floyd B. and Margaret E. Rush.

She was one of five children and attended schools in Snohomish, graduating in 1941. She married John B. Misich. They maintained their home on the Snohomish River and farmed for years in the valley.

Mary Ann is survived by: her four children, Margaret Rose of Mill Creek, John Misich, Jr. of Snohomish, Marilyn Hollenback of Bellevue, and Linda Price of Everett; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; her sister Marjory Bueler of Snohomish; brothers, John Rush of Edmonds, and Richard Rush of Sherman Oaks, CA.

Throughout her life she was a great cook, gardener, and sewer. She was a hard-working woman whose passion in later life was quilting. Mary Ann belonged to the Busy Bee Quilters.

Funeral services will be held at Bauer Funeral Chapel in Snohomish at 11:00am on Thursday, July 1, 2004.
