Robert "Bob" P. Nicklos

Robert "Bob" P. Nicklos, 67, passed away after a long illness on July 27, 2004 in Everett, WA.

He was a roofer and siding applicator in Portland, OR before owning and operating Sno-King Construction Company for 29 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 and one half years, Beverly; a son, Bill (Kelly) Nicklos of Portland; and a daughter, Brenda Philips of Portland; step-daughters Terry (Bob) Gasperetti of Snohomish, Susie Howell of Marysville, and Debra (Don) Lewis of Bothell; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren; sisters Clara Letang and Darlene Langos of Portland, Julie (Vince) Hondl and Donna (Ron) Kavash of Dickinson, ND, and Gracie Parilicek of West Seneca, NY; half-sisters Bonnie (Dennis) Sauvageau of Three Forks, MT, and Mona Ward of Portland; and half-brother, Tim Hust of Vancouver.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 31st from 4:00 until 8:00pm and a Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, August 2nd, both at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway, Everett. The interment will follow on Monday at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, 1615 E. Everett Mall Way, Everett.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent in Bob's memory to the Evergreen Foundation, c/o Booth Gardner, Parkinson's Care Center, 12040 NE 128th St., Kirkland, WA 98034.

Walter G. Huehnerhoff

July 18, 1924 - July 25, 2004
Walter G. Huehnerhoff is survived by Ruth, his wife of 59 years; three children, Carol, Rob and Ed; and five teen-age grandsons, all living in the area.

The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 4th at 11:00am at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Standwood, WA.

William H. Steele

William Steele passed away July 23, 2004 in Everett, WA. He was born in Bothell, WA on August 28, 1921.

Surviving are his three children, Patricia of Everett, Cathleen of Marysville, and Michael of Gold Bar; his special friend and devoted companion of 33 years, Lulu; sister Peggy Langley of Memphis, TN; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

A brother, John, preceded him in death in 1988.

A Memorial Mass will be said at St. Mary of the Valley Catholic Church, Monroe, WA on Monday, August 2, 2004 at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Perry E. Thorp

Perry E. Thorp, 70, born March 20, 1934 in Culbertson, MT to Kenneth and Alice Holly Thorp, died June 26, 2004 at his home in Hermiston, OR.

Perry was united in marriage to Carol I. Pedersen on February 19, 1955 in Everett, WA. He worked as an operator and mechanic in heavy construction throughout Washington as well as parts of California and Alaska while keeping the Machias and Everett Areas as home base. They moved to Irrigon, OR in 1991 and then to Hermiston, OR in 2002. He was a member of Local #302 of the Operating Engineers in Seattle, WA.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Thorp of Hermiston, OR; sons, Kenneth, John, and Jim; daughter Carrie Morris; brothers, Dick and Ken; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 30th at 3:00pm at Umatilla Baptist Church, Umatilla, OR.

Those who wish may make contributions in Perry's memory to the Vange John Memorial Hospice or the American Cancer Society, c/o Burns Mortuary of Hermiston, P.O. Box 289, Hermiston, OR 97838.

Ruth H. (Jensen) Brampton, age 85, of Lynnwood, WA, died June 27, 2004 surrounded by her family at home.

The Memorial Service will be held Thursday, July 1, 2004 at 3:00pm at Westgate Chapel, 22901 Edmonds Way, Edmonds, WA.

Terrence A. Shultz

May 3, 1956 - June 22, 2004

Terry Shultz, 48, of Stanwood, WA, passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2004.

He is survived by: his parents, Curtiss and Carole Shultz; brother James (Mary) Shultz; son Curtiss Shultz; stepchildren, Josh Hilderbrand and April Lindell; granddaughter Audrey Shultz; nephew James H. Shultz; and nieces, Emily and Melanie Shultz.

Terry loved the outdoors, riding motorcycles with his brother, and spending time with his family. Uncle Ter also loved going to the kids' sporting events. He was a successful business man and a member of the Ironworkers Union Local #86 for 25 years.
He will be missed!

There will be private family service on June 28, 2004.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on July 3, 2004 from 1:00 until 5:00pm at Terry's residence in Stanwood.

Vivian M. Drivstuen

Vivian M. (Fosse) Drivstuen went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 12, 2004.

She was born February 22, 1917 in Poulsbo, WA to Captain Earnest and Elsie Fosse. She graduated from Marysville High School. After completing beauty school she owned and operated her own salon in Seattle. She was married to Milton Drivstuen on January 23, 1936 and was his true soul mate until his passing in 1997.

Over the years the couple operated a dairy farm, a restaurant, and finally Sno-King Dairy in Monroe, WA. They enjoyed their retirement years living at Lake Roesinger and wintering in Yuma, AZ. Vivian was an avid Husky football and Seattle Mariner fan. She was a former captain and member of the Monroe Ladies Golf Club. She loved to read and work crossword puzzles, but most of all she loved the Lord and was a devout member of the Morning Star Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Rick and his wife Donna Drivstuen, and Gary and his wife Sharon Drivstuen; 7 grandchildren; and 21 great grand-children.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of her life on Monday, June 21st at 2:00pm at Morning Star Lutheran Church, 17146 Braton Road, Monroe.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Morning Star Lutheran Church building fund.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Monroe Regency Nursing Home for their wonderful loving care.

Venancia Mercado Magbag

April 1, 1914 - May 31, 2004

Venancia, more fondly referred to as "Lola Vi" by her family, has departed to reunite with her husband Deogracias and our Lord in heaven in the early morning of May 31, 2004 at the age of 90. She was always surrounded by her loved ones, especially through her final moments. She had her last breathes amidst her three granddaughters.

She is survived by her only son, Francisco and his wife, Nelinda Ribargoso and their seven children, spouses and brood: Alfred and Bebsy Minoza with Cristal, Candice and Caiella, Junie and Dina Escalona with Angela and Rubynely, Maxi and Dennis Olsen, Fernando and Venus Leocadio with Jeanne, Michelle and Troy (Troy is Lola Vi's favorite!), Mary Ann and Ramon Panggat with Bea and Anton, Ditas and Marke Pyle with Dillon, and Emmanuel and Imelda delos Reyes with Trisha, Claudine and Bryce.

Lola Vi's life revolved around her great grandchild. But she was also an avid sports spectator; boxing and baseball were on top of her list. She was a Mariner's fan.

Lola Vi will be remembered for her love, generosity and propensity for a close, happy, comfortable life for the Magbag family.

Her happiness was the presence of her family especially grandchildren and the sight of her great grandchildren, which always creates a big beautiful smile on her face. In turn, she provided affection, security and comfort for everyone. Lola Vi will truly be loved and missed forever.

Viola Frances Allen

Sept. 25, 1926 - May 28, 2004
A loving wife and mother, intellectual, and resident of Alderwood Manor passed away on May 28, 2004 at the age of 77.

Born in Scranton, PA, raised in Middletown, NY, and educated at SUNY New Paltz and New York University, Viola, a free spirit, went West to homestead in southern Snohomish County. There she build a home, raised award winning cocker spaniels and taught elementary school in Edmonds School District 15.

Late in life she married the late George Kitchener Allen and raised two children. Dedicated to her offspring, she sacrificed physically, financially and emotionally to ensure that they became intellectually aware, skeptical, and patriotic. To that end, she taught them to read at an early age and volunteered with both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America.

Her daughter, Nancy Elaine Allen of Seattle, WA and son, U.S. Army Major George Kitchener Allen, Jr. and his wife Roxana Simona of Washington, DC will fondly remember and miss her wit, charm, warmth, brilliant mind, and Bohemian lifestyle. May she rest in peace.

Flowers may be placed at her commemorative plaque at the Native Growth Protection Area on the former Allen homestead at 17921 36th Avenue West, Lynnwood, WA 98037. Memorials in her name may be made to PAWS Inc., 425-787-2500.

A commemoration of the lives of both the Allen parents will be held at a later date this year.

Betty Jean Wellen

Sept. 15, 1937 - May 26, 2004

Betty Jean Wellen went to be with her Lord and Savior, the morning of May 26, 2004.

Betty was born in Bryson City, NC. She moved to Tacoma, WA with her family at an early age. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957. In that same year she married her high school sweetheart, William L. Wellen. They moved to Seattle where they attended King's Vocational Bible Institute. Betty was blessed with three children and later four grandchildren. Her love for people was reflected in all she did. She worked as a waitress/caterer for Frederick & Nelson and the Nile Country Club. In 1972 the family moved to Everett. She was a lifetime member of the Whirlybird Square Dance Club. Her love of square dancing prompted her to own and operate Rainbow Reflections Square Dance shop. She loved Hawaii and made many trips to the island paradise. She even took hula lessons and had a wealth of knowledge of the Hawaiian culture. Betty was an excellent cook and prepared many delicious meals for family and friends. A requested favorite were her baked beans. She had a love for flowers and tended to her rose garden, adding a rose bush for each special child that came into her life. Children called her "Nana". For 13 years she provided tender loving care for numerous children. She enjoyed her fellowship with Bethany Christian Assembly. Betty was diagnosed with cancer nearly seven years ago. She fought a courageous battle with the support of her physician, Dr. Marc S. Rosen-shein and staff plus various other medical specialists. Her dear family and friends surrounded her with love, compassion and prayer throughout her illness. She drew strength from her strong faith and deep commitment to the Lord. She will be remembered as a generous, loving and gracious lady with a quick wit and bright smile for all. She will be forever loved and missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, William Louis Wellen; three children, William David, Beverly Kay, and Bradley James Wellen; grandchildren, Bridget Marie, William Murdock, Bradley James, Jr., and Brice Matthew Wellen; sisters, Barbara Ann Whitis of LaPorte, IN, Mary Katherine (Bill) Colberg of Mountlake Terrace, and Sonja (Gene) Whitcomb of Tacoma; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and special family friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Weldon Jerome Blankenship, Leif Theodore and Ethel Vogter and numerous other family members.

Visitation will be held at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Lynnwood on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 from 9:00am until 5:00pm. Services will be held Thursday, June 3rd at Bethany Christian Assembly, 2715 Everett Ave, Everett at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice, or Bethany Christian Assembly Building Fund.

Charles F. Smith

Charles F. Smith of Everett, WA, born July 26, 1943, passed away following a traffic accident in Kent, WA on Sunday, May 23, 2004.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Melanie Cloud-Smith. He and Melanie managed several apartment complexes in the Seattle-Everett area. On the day of his death, Chuck had been sharing an anniversary/birthday celebration with his wife and several family members.

Though his last few years burdened him with physical problems, Chuck enjoyed many years of happiness and sobriety. His last memory was of fond hugs and kisses before the family he loved departed their celebration. He was a kind, outgoing and generous man who will be remembered for his always ready helpfulness.

Chuck was greatly loved and will be sorely missed, but, we are comforted that he now rests in the loving arms of his Creator.

David Hawley Moffitt

David Hawley Moffitt left this life Wednesday March 31, 2004 to spend life eternally with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

David was born March 10, 1957 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lamar C. Moffitt and Rosemary Hawley Moffitt. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy after graduating from Alamogordo High School in New Mexico in 1975.

David is survived by his wife of 23 years; three sons, Jonathan, Jordan and Joel whom he adored; his father Lamarr C. Moffitt and his step-mom LaVar Moffitt of Ely, NV; his brother Frank (Lynn) Moffitt of Enid, OK; his sister Marilyn (Chad) Olson of Denver, CO; his brother Mark (Alina) of Kenmore, WA; his step brother Joe (Colleen) Wilkey of Alamogordo, NM; as well as numerous nieces and nephews on the Moffitt side of the family.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Wilkey, of Alamogordo, NM in 1990; his brother Michael Lamarr Moffitt of Seattle in 1988; and his brother, Loren Francis Moffitt of High Point, NC in 1990.

David and Dottie were married June 13, 1981 in Woodinville, WA and commenced one of the most beautiful marriages. David's hobbies were his wife, boys, family and friends. His commitment to family and friends was evident to all that knew him. David was a handsome man, but it was what was inside that was so truly beautiful. David started a successful contracting business in 1992 through which he was able to serve those who made his business a success.

David and Daddy left an indelible mark in our lives and we are grateful to our Lord for this love, commitment and the foundation upon which he built our lives. We know God welcomed David with "Well done thou good and faithful servant".

A Memorial Service was held Saturday, April 3, 2004 at Eastside Foursquare Church. A private internment was held for family Saturday, April 3, 2004.

Dayna Marie Fure

Dayna Marie Fure, age 18, of Stanwood, WA, was tragically deprived of her dreams and goals on May 24, 2004.

The graveside services will be held at Anderson Cemetery on Tuesday, June 1st at 1:00pm, followed by a memorial service at Stanwood High School Gym at 4:00pm.

Services are under the direction of Gilbertson's Funeral Home, Stanwood, WA.

Fred J. Langmas

Fred J. Langmas, 76, died May 24, 2004 in Everett, WA.

Fred was born July 16, 1927 to Arthur and Ethel Langmas in Colfax, WA. Fred graduated from Pullman High School and Washington State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired from that profession in 1993. Fred was a strong and caring husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed working in his vegetable and flower gardens.

Fred was preceded in death by his son Donald in 1978; and his brother Samuel.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Bernice Langmas of Everett, WA; his son Mark Langmas of Arlington, WA; his daughters, Kathy Rowse of Everett, and Linda McDonald of Spokane, WA; his sister Trudy Cargill of Yakima, WA; and his five grandchildren.

The viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2004, from 1:00 until 4:30pm at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in the Rhododendron Garden of Floral Hills Cemetery.

Gerald (Bud) Ralph Ugeburt

On May 23, 2004 Gerald was set free and his spirit passed, his light now shines on all that loved him.

Gerald was born on April 7, 1946 in Lafleche, Saskatchewan, Canada. He graduated from Everett High School in 1965. He served his country in Vietnam as a member of a USN Seabee unit. He retired from Foss Tug in 1989 where he had enjoyed many years of service.

He is survived by son, Dan Rickard; sister Camilla Sharon Parrott, her partner George Phelps, and her children Shannon Parrott-Spotswood and Andrew Parrott; cousin Pam Bakker and her husband Dan and Daughter Nicole;, and many loving family members and friends among which were Molly Donovan and Michael Rickard.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, George and Adalyn Huyghebaert; and his uncle and aunt, Irv and Camilla Fitzgerald.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday June 1, 2004 at Floral Hills Cemetery, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Evergreen Manor, 2601 Summit Ave. Everett, WA 98201.

Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives of Snohomish Co.

Hazel Marie Lawson

Hazel Marie Lawson, born Hazel Hollingsworth, on February 2, 1912 in Independence, KS, passed away on May 22, 2004 in Snohomish, WA.

She is survived by her sister Faith (Howard); brother William (Mary); six children, Charles (Cora), James (Bonnie), Patty (Don), David, Joy (Courtney), and Roger; 20 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Hazel loved to organize! No event was safe from her loving touch. She planned and led the first Cross-County Horseback rides from Oregon to Canada. Hazel loved card games, music, teaching, dancing, clogging, and horseback riding! She had a keen sense of humor with a bawdy joke or two to share.

We will miss her! Per Hazel's request, no services will be held and she will be buried in Dixon, IL next to her late husband, Charles Lawson.

James Michael Ward "Chance"

The spirit of a kind and gentle man crossed peacefully to the other side on May 26, 2004 in his Snohomish home.

Born to Marilyn and James LeRoy Ward on June 3, 1949 in Santa Monica, CA, he was a beloved son. Chance graduated from Granada High School in 1967; subsequently served his country in Viet Nam.

Following a career in the Forest Service, he pursued his lifelong desire to become a nurse. Attending both North Seattle Community College and the University of Washington, he was an outstanding student; achieving an Associate of Arts Nursing degree in 1996.

Chance was a helper, a traveler on life's road; his kind assistance was given as quiet and genuine aid. Nursing was his dream. Nurturing not only the bodies, but also, the spirits of his patients at the Snohomish Chalet became his passion.

He is survived by his sons, Sebastian and Chazz; mother Marilyn Ward; wife Terri Hoffer; and a countless array of friends. Chance will be missed by many and kept warmly in our hearts. The light he brought to our lives shines on us still.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 3, 2004 at 2:00pm at the American Legion Park in Snohomish (formerly FOE Eagles Park). This will be followed by a celebration of his life and a potluck. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.
