Todd Colin George
Born in Seattle, WA on Jul. 8, 1966
Departed on Oct. 6, 2002 and resided in Seattle, WA.
To know Todd was to be part of his wonderful quick wit and humor. From the time he was a little boy he was always smiling and laughing. As an adult his creativity found an outlet in imitations; movie stars, family, friends, and strangers - no one was spared, we all got to see ourselves. During the most stressful situations in the grooming shop he could always say or do something to make everyone laugh. He had the great gift of making the difficult times in life look completely ridiculous and silly.
Todd had a vast knowlege of birds. He could identify a bird from its call, he knew the species, plummage, habits, and migration patterns of birds all over the world. He built countless birdhouses and feeders and would spend hours watching their behavior. He loved pigeons and had coops whenever possible. He enjoyed fancy breeds as well as wild ones. As a teenager he would go to the park with bread and a paper sack to catch pigeons and bring them home on the bus. Once he stopped for lunch on the way home and sat in the booth with the sack scratching and bumping around his feet. His dream was to go to the Amazon and see all the different bird species in the wild.
Todd loved to garden, he spent hours outside planting and helping things to grow. He also loved natural settings and would sit quietly just watching the birds and squirrels go about their business. He had a great appreciation for the balance of nature, and he believed some places should not be interfered with by humans.
Todd loved family and friends deeply. He encouraged growth from everyone, and strove to teach everyone to accept differences in all people. He believed and worked for civil and social equality, and always offered help to anyone trying to better themselves. He was loving and kind and had a huge capacity for forgiveness. He worked very hard to keep his family together, encouraging everyone to remember that life is precious, forget the petty things and just love one another. He had a very old soul for a young man.
Todd woke up each morning and faced the day fresh, he was always busy doing something. As his illness slowly wasted his body, his determination only grew. Maya Angelou wrote, "I can be changed by what happens to me. I refuse to be reduced by it." His spirit and will was so strong that he never gave up, in the end his body simple could not go on. He will be deeply missed, and always with us in love.

After retiring from a career she loved in materiel control at The Boeing Company in 1972, Dorothy enjoyed travel throughout the Southwest, California and New York, but was always eager to return to her home in Seattle.
Dorothy was a student of the world, a keen observer of life, and an avid reader with a curious, active mind. A gentle spirit, in her twenties she was a published poet and continued to express herself in poetry and other creative activities until her death. She loved and supported classical music, literacy, and the world environment. Her wit, wisdom, kindness, and enthusiasm will be sorely missed by her two children, Judith Breaks and Anthony Hughes of Seattle, and by her many relatives and friends.
O Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then in thy mercy, grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last.

Mary Louise Helen Corwin
Born in Abilene, Texas on Feb. 13, 1920
Departed on May 14, 2002 and resided in Seattle, WA.
Mary Louise Helen Corwin at Foss Home in Seattle, WA on May 14, 2002. A great many loved her and found the world richer for her fiery wit, elfin charm and generous spirit. A poet of grace and humor, she was appreciated by all whose lives she touched for her vast fund of sympathy. She will be sorely missed. Mary Corwin was 82. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Megan Corwin of Seattle and Joan Corwin of Evanston, IL, and three grandchildren, Sammy Kai Phillips-Corwin and Leah and Alex Christie. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to your local chapter of The Humane Society in Mary Corwin's name.
Most of Mary's friends and relatives are already acquainted with her poetry, but because poetry was such an important part of her life, we wanted to share two of our favorite of her poems with you. If you've read them before, you know they bear repetition. Coincidentally, they deal, in a sometimes oblique way, with the afterlife. But most of all, they represent two parts of her nature with which we are all familiar--her sense of humor and her capacity for love. If she was satiric, irreverent, and unsentimental about the foibles of humankind, she also had a limitless fund of sympathy for human--and animal--suffering. And she was a great friend.

Eula M. Ostrom
Born in Palatka, FL on Jun. 29, 1908
Departed on Apr. 20, 2002 and resided in Seattle, WA.
EULA MARIE OSTROM
93, taught her family lessons in living up to the end -- a teacher and nurturer always. Born in Palatka, a small town in northern Florida, on July 29, 1908, Eula died peacefully Saturday (April 20) at Swedish Hospital First Hill of congestive heart failure, her family by her side. The youngest and last survivor of five children born to William Mac Curry and Jennie Lackore Curry, Eula came to Seattle with her family in 1917 after a grueling two-month, five-thousand mile cross-country adventure in a motorcar on roads of rocks and mud, enduring flat tires and engine breakdowns almost daily. Eula's mother, Jennie, who had been advised by her doctor to move to a cooler climate, recalled their arrival in Seattle in a letter to a friend: "The air was cool with mountain freshness and filled with the salt tang of the ocean." Jennie, who lived to be age 99, settled with her family in Montlake, and Eula thrived as well, attending Broadway High School and the University of Washington, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1929 and took a master's degree in Romance Languages. She taught high school in Fall City and Edmonds until 1946, when she married Cameron Walthew Ostrom, son of a local surgeon. Cameron was then a mushroom grower, a man who had found success in fungus cultivation where others had failed. They met at a party, and Cameron was smitten from the start. He said later that he had been able to catch this beautiful, intelligent and incredibly sweet woman only because Eula had been slowed down by a broken leg, the result of a skiing accident. At the party, Cameron wondered out loud to Eula what would happen if her leg under the cast began itching, and his name stuck in Eula's mind afterwards as she tried to push a knitting needle under the plaster to scratch the sudden itch she'd developed. Their marriage wasn't always easy, but Eula had a clear vision: support and love her children, Carol Marie Ostrom and Lynn Cameron Trafton of Houston, Texas. She seemed not to notice their occasional thoughtlessness, wayward directions and even failings, always giving them the benefit of any doubt she should have had. She moved with Cameron to Canada in 1964 when he sold the Ostrom Mushroom Company, and adapted as they lived on their boat for more than a year before they built a home at Maple Bay, British Columbia. Cameron died in 1971, and for the next 30 years Eula lived independently, a stubbornly self-sufficient streak guiding her life until the last year, when she obtained assistance in living at Faerland Terrace on Capitol Hill, adapting to new routines and making new friends. Eula's Scottish heritage always helped her move forward through life "one step at a time, " and to "do the best you can, " maxims that stood her in good stead as she faced death with grace and dignity. She trusted Lynn, Carol and Glen Sims, her son-in-law and ardent fan, and knew they would be there for her, and they were. Her family also included her nieces, Joan Morgan, Gail Terrell and Karen Williamson, her grand-dogs, Magnolia Raylene Sims and Tara Belle Trafton, and Bubba the Bird, her cockatiel, who gave her great comfort in her later years. Eula was preceded in death by her husband Cameron, her sister Ruth Curry, and her brothers George Norman Curry, Leverett Lackore Curry and William Mac Curry. At Eula's request, no services will be held, but her family and close friends will gather to remember her later this year. The family suggests memorials to Planned Parenthood of Western Washington, 2001 East Madison, Seattle WA 98122.

Robert S. Rossell
Born in Detroit, Michigan on Jun. 24, 1904
Departed on Mar. 22, 2002 and resided in Seattle, WA.
Born June 24, 1904 in Detroit, Michigan; passed away March 22, 2002 at age 97. Survived by Herta, his loving wife of 63 years; daughter, Catherine A. Harris and her husband, Richard of Bellevue; grandson, Mark R. Harris, his wife Susan and great-grandson, Alex Harris, all of Hopedale, MA. At his request, no services will be held. Bob was an avid walker. He enjoyed fishing and wood working. Bob designed and built many furniture pieces, and in particular, a wood lathe-turned lamp base, especially prized by his family. Gardening was his passion. He still was growing tomatoes and cucumbers at age 95. No one could grow tomatoes with such great success.
In 1931, Bob received a United States patent on his innovative design of an oven rack for cooking stoves. The rack was so connected that it would
withdraw from the oven when the door was opened, and move back into the oven as the door closed.
Bob retired from the King County Treasurer's Office in 1969. He and Herta traveled the world, and only slowed down to cruising in their late eighties. After living many years in North Seattle and the Ballard area, they moved to
the Garden Club in Bellevue. Bob was a quiet observer of life, who leaves us with many fond memories of his time with us.
Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association or a charity of choice.
