Died on Dec. 4, 2001 and resided in Seattle, WA.
cemetery: Washington Memorial Park
NORMA IONE (JOHNS) DEEDS, was born in Granite Falls, Washington on November 22, 1922 to the union of Frank and Florence Johns. Norma spent much of her childhood growing up in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School in 1940.
Having grown up through the depression, Norma understood her role in the family. She brought her waitress check home to Mom every week to help the family pay bills. One night while waiting tables, she was introduced to a handsome young widower named Ivan Deeds. She later accepted his request for a date, and the rest is history.
Over their 48 years together, Ivan and Norma led a wonderful life. In 1945 they had a daughter, Linda, whom Norma delighted in taking care of and playing with. In 1956 they had a son, Stephen, for Dad to play catch with. Ivan worked many long hours to support the family, while Norma kept everything running smoothly at home.
The family lived much of their lives together in Seattle, but Norma spent many of her golden years with Ivan on their farm in Chehalis. It was always fun to visit lthem there, and they loved the company. Norma loved being with family, friends and grand kids. She was a great mother who unceasingly took care of the kids, supported her husband, and saw that all the family's needs were met.
She is survived by her children, Linda Deeds of Seattle, and Steve Deeds of Des Moines, Wa., along with 10 grand children, nine great grandchildren, and numerous relatives and dear friends.
We'll mourn her loss deeply, but take comfort in the fact that she is with the Lord.
