After his discharge, he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at San Diego State University in 1972. In 1978 Cris moved to Seattle. He worked first at Todd shipyards, then at Washington Iron Works before moving into the field of industrial sales and purchasing. Cris enjoyed building models. He built and flew radio controlled gliders, then became interested in sailing model boats. He was a meticulous builder, spending hours perfecting his models. It was while sailing his models on Lake Washington that he developed an interest in canoeing. Cris owned two custom-made canoes and collected handmade wooden paddles. He joined Paddle Trails Canoe Club and paddled with them for the past three years. He also volunteered as a lifeguard during the Danskin Triathlons and he paddled for swimmers with a local triathlon club as well.
Another passion of Cris’s was cooking and baking, especially elaborate desserts, for which he was locally famous.
Cris was a generous man with great zest for life. He was a dear friend whose departure leaves a void that will never be filled.
