Oren David Townsend, 85, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away at home on June 3, 2001.
Memorial services were held at Spirit Lake Presbyterian Church June 9, 2001 with the Rev. Joann Carter officiating. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, was in charge of the arrangements.

Leona Rheinschmidt
Leona Rheinschmidt, 87, passed away June 11, 2001.
A memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 14, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Manito United Methodist Church, 3220 S. Grand Blvd., Spokane, Wash. Ban & Dodd Funeral Home is in charge of cremation. Interment will be at Urn Hillcrest cemetery, Sandpoint, Idaho.

Betty Jean Cooper Owens
At the request of the family, graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 13 at 1 p.m. at Grandview cemetery in Bonners Ferry, Idaho where Betty will be buried beside her late husband, Ned LaFountain.

Keith Stentzel
Keith Duane Stentzel, 45, College Place, Wash., died July 29, 2002, at his home. Keith was born August 28, 1956, in Spokane, Wash., to Loren and Ruth (Ogden) Stentzel. He attended Spokane Junior Academy, Beacon School in Lewiston, Idaho and graduated from Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle, Wash., in 1975. He also attended Walla Walla College for two years. He lived in Walla Walla for one year, having moved from Moses Lake, Wash., in August, 2001. He married Janine Wysong on June 24, 1979, in Brewster, Wash. He was a plumber and a building contractor. During the two years he attended Walla Walla College, he obtained his plumbing license. He worked as a plumbing contractor in Lewiston and Clarkston, and it was at this time that his children, Alecia and Eric, were born. He moved to Moses Lake in 1987, where he worked as a building and plumbing contractor. He enjoyed the outdoors. He spent a lot of time in the mountains and on the water. Keith is survived by one daughter, Alecia Stentzel, of Brewster, Wash.; one son, Eric Stentzel of Brewster, Wash; his parents, Loren and Ruth Stentzel of Lewiston, Idaho; one brother, Martin Stentzel of Paradise, Calif.; six nephews and one niece; and extended family and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janine, who died in 2001. A memorial service will take place at 4 p.m., Saturday, August 17, 2002, at City Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2133 Howard Street, Walla Walla, Wash., with pastors Rick Bowes and Walt Meske officiating. Contributions may be made to an educational fund for his children at the Moses Lake SDA Church or Brewster SDA Church in care of Mountain View Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are in care of Mountain View Funeral Chapel, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362.

Elsie "Lee" Hutsell
Elsie "Lee" Hutsell, 75, Moses Lake resident, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at Samaritan Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, August 12, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland, Wash., with Rev. Jerry Lion officiating. Arrangements are in care of Kayser?s Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake. Lee was born to Ralph and Edith Walker Charlton on April 15, 1927, in Wilmington, Calif. She married Bill Hutsell on July 23, 1970, in Soap Lake, Wash. Lee loved her family. She enjoyed all her grandchildren and loved to have the neighbor children over. She always had something good to eat for all the children. She enjoyed being a homemaker and cooking for her husband Bill. They enjoyed canning peaches together. Lee and Bill enjoyed many years of traveling down the road to rodeos. She enjoyed gardening and always had fresh vegetables and nice flowers growing. She had a special love for animals, especially her three dogs and her calico cat. She is survived by her husband Bill Hutsell at the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Tom Eldhardt of West Richland; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph Sladek of Bouse, Ariz.; and Allen Douglas and Cindi Hutsell of Spokane, Wash, ; stepchildren, Sharon Hutsell and Tom Hutsell of Davenport, Wash.; Don Hutsell and wife Connie of Ritzville, Wash., and Char Hutsell of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Cheryl O?Brien. The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of your choice.

Earlene R. Anderson
Earlene R. Anderson, 81, our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and longtime Moses Lake resident, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 at Samaritan Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002 at the I.O.O.F. Evergreen cemetery in Rosalia, Wash., with Pastor Steve Yoell officiating. Arrangements are in care of Kayser?s Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake. Friends may call at the funeral home for viewing on Friday from noon until 7 p.m. Earlene was born July 8, 1921 at home in Rosalia, Wash., to Lester Earl and Roxy Mary Anna Wyer. She had five brothers ? Neal Earl, Charles Donald, Roy Eugene, Richard Royce and Gale Dean; three sisters ? Dorothy Mary, Betty Jean and Opal Joanne. Her early education was in a one-room schoolhouse in Buckeye. She often told of riding to school on the back of a horse with two other siblings, and of frequently sliding off! After graduation from Rosalia High School at the age of 16, she worked for Dr. Ogden as a dental assistant. Earlene married Gilman Albert Anderson (Gil) on June 14, 1941, a marriage lasting more than 57 years. In 1964, they moved their family to the Columbia Basin, first to Warden and then to Moses Lake in 1967. She is survived by three children ? Phyllis Kay Suksdorf of Pasco, Albert Earl of Moses Lake and Marsha Jean Schlangen (husband Brent) of Spokane; four grandchildren ? David Anderson of Seattle, Keith Anderson of Moses Lake and Steven and Christina Schlangen of Spokane; two brothers ? Roy of Olympia and Dick of Kennewick; one sister ? Joanne Da Silva of California. Mom was active in community events. She worked on the election board for many years, was a local chairwoman of the annual American Heart Association drive, a past member of the Greater Miss Moses Lake Pageant committee and was a member of the Sons of Norway. She remained an avid seamstress, giving away many quilts and afghans over the years. Above all she was a wife and mother. Mom often said that her family was the most important thing in her life. She loved all of her family, especially her grandchildren. You will always hold a special place in our hearts, Mom/Grandma, and we will miss you. Earlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Leslie, brothers Neal, Don and Dean, and sisters Dorothy and Betty Jean. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be make to the American Heart Association in her memory.

Eliza Divito
Eliza Virginia Divito, 82, of Wilson Creek, Wash., passed away Aug. 6, 2002, in Odessa, Wash. She was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Spokane, Wash., to Susan and Richard Gill. She married Floyd C. Divito on Sept. 18, 1939, in Ephrata, Wash. She worked as a bookkeeper and a homemaker. Eliza was a member of the Presbyterian church. In 1938 she was an Apple Blossom princess. She is survived by her husband Floyd Divito; daughters, Judith L. Ford of Moses Lake; Jeanne E. Goetz of Buckley, Wash.; Joy A. Duzon of Wilson Creek, Wash.; one son, Richard (Dick) Divito of Snohomish, Wash.; one brother, Richard E. Gill of Chester, Md.; grandchildren Treg M. Goetz of Buckley, Wash., Craig J. Bishop of Moses Lake, Wash., Jade E. Stewart of Moses Lake, Wash., Anthony L. Stewart of Wilson Creek, Wash., Marcus Goetz of Buckley, Wash., Dustin J. Divito of Snohomish, Wash., Darrin B. Divito of Snohomish, Wash., Cody Goetz of Buckley, Wash.; and great-grandchildren CJ. Cari, Michael, Joey and Maisie. Other survivors include daughter-in-law Diane F. Divito of Snohomish, Wash., sons-in-law, Rev. Thomas Goetz of Buckley, Wash., Jim Duzon of Wilson Creek, Wash.; niece Susan Lamoreux of Bridgeport, Wash.; close friends and neighbors Jerry Goetz, Carold Jean Cook, Margret Ribail and many more. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, grandson and niece. Graveside services will be held Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Wilson Creek cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Thomas Goetz and Dean Ford. Nicoles Funeral Home in Ephrata is in charge of arrangements.

John Charles Burnette
John Charles Burnette, 60, of Ephrata passed away on Monday, Sept. 30 of a heart attack. He was born on September 8, 1942, in Coos Bay, Ore., to Mellette Louis and Elizabeth Codding Burnette. John attended Marshfield High School in Coos Bay and Southwest Oregon Community College in North Bend, Ore. He graduated from the Blind School in Seattle in 2001. He married Daisy Polhamus in Coos Bay on April 25, 1969. They lived in Greenacres and Eastside, Ore., and Rock Springs, Wyo. They have lived in Ephrata for the past 17 years. John worked for Weyerhauser, in construction, and with developmentally disabled adults. This year he was a teacher's aide at Grant Elementary School in a special education class. John enjoyed people, old and young, and had a special knack for encouraging others. He was a Yankee and Broncs fan to the end. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth, and brother, Tom. He is survived by his wife, Daisy; his sons John David, Jay, Roy, and Charley; his daughter Anne, and her husband Jason Niblett, and their children, Charis and Josiah. A memorial service will be held at Grace Harvest Church in Moses Lake on Friday, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. Benson Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Ann I. Harrington
Ann Snow was born June 30, 1914 in Bellingham, Wash., the youngest of seven children. She attended school there and married Jack Harrington on August 15, 1934. Their only child, Nelda, was born the next August, and soon after the family moved to Wenatchee.
Ann was a working woman, first delivering newspapers early mornings with Jack and then owning a wholesale magazine business. They sold the business in 1954 and took a year off to build their cabin on Lake Chelan. Ann became the office secretary and bookkeeper for a local oil distributor until both she and Jack retired in 1977.
After selling their home in Wenatchee, they spent the next 11 years between their summer home at the lake and a winter home in Yuma, Ariz. In 1989, they bought a home in Moses Lake, which was closer to most of their family, and due to Anns failing health, it became their year-round home in 2000.
Ann enjoyed gardening, reading, corresponding with her sisters and many friends, embroidering and her family.
She is survived by: her devoted husband of 68 years, Jack; daughter, Nelda Stierlen and her husband, Marv; two granddaughters, Phyllis PuFahl and her husband Ron, and Patrice Elston and her husband, Wayne; one great-grandson, Jason Archer and his wife, Dani; and many nieces and nephews.

Paul Thomas Sedgewick
He was retired from the U.S. Air Force 20 years. He was also a boiler maker by trade. He retired from the service in 1975.
Paul was a husband, father and military. He served his country for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and also served in Vietnam. He loved to travel and he visited many countries, including Spain, Germany, France, North Africa, England, Switzerland, Southeast Asia, and Vietnam.
He loved to fish and tell great stories of his adventures. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
He is survived by: his wife, Nola Sedgewick; daughter, Paulena Motzkus, of Quincy; sons, Tom Sedgewick of Ephrata; David Sedgewick of Taylorsville, Utah; Jamie Sedgewick of Ephrata; and three grandchildren, Kristina, Robert and Brittany Motzkus of Quincy.
Services will be held Friday, February 21, 2003 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Viewing will be from 9-10 a.m., with services beginning at 10 a.m.
Nicoles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Elbert L. (Bill) Schrodt Jr.
Elbert L. (Bill) Schrodt Jr., of Warden, Wash., passed away on November 24, 2004 from a long fight with lung cancer. He was born to Elbert L (Bill) Sr. and Bernice Schrodt on December 6, 1937 in Iowa City, Iowa.
He later moved to Washington with his grandparents, and lived in the Sunnyside area where he met and married June Presley in June 1959. They moved to the Columbia Basin area in 1968, where he was a diesel mechanic and welder/fabricator until he retired in 2001.
He was also a fireman on the Warden Volunteer Fire Dept. for 24 years before retiring due to his lung condition. He loved to fish and hunt, which he enjoyed with his family and friends.
He is survived by: his wife, June of 45 years; two sons, Edward and Janet Schrodt of Moses Lake, Wash. and Anthony and Laurie Ford of Pendleton, Ore; two daughters, Melissa and Nathan Kulp of Beaverton, Ore. and Cynthia and Anthony Bolden of Moses Lake; six sisters, Barbara and Paul Dillard of Sunnyside, Phyllis and Howard Long of Creston, Iowa, Elizabeth and Gerald Aubrecht of Mary, La., Mary Hills of Osceola, Iowa, Charlotte Middleton of Puterbogh, Canada and Clara Dee Schrodt of Belond, Iowa; five brothers, Rick and Kim Davis of Des Moines, Iowa, Dean and Sally Schrodt of Chariton, Iowa, Thomas and Pat Schrodt and Charley Schrodt, all of Dubuque, Iowa and Floyd Schrodt of Wilton, Iowa.
His parents, three brothers, Paul Freddy, Louis and Claude LaVerne Schrodt, and one grandson, Kevin Ford preceded Bill in death.
Bill has 14 grandchildren, Rick, Tony Jr., Daniel, Haley, Jeremy, Andrea, Kelsey, Ashley O., Aaron, Drew, Ashley B., Justin, Karissa and Noble, and one great-granddaughter, Kira.
All his family and friends will miss him.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Warden First Baptist Church. Contributions can be made in his memory to: St. Judes Hospital Contributions, 501 St Judes Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Virginia "Ginger" Haring
Virginia Lee "Ginger" Haring, 56, a longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away on the morning of November 24, 2004 at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake, Wash. due to a short and courageous battle with lung cancer.
Ginger was born on August 31, 1948 in Wallace, Idaho to June Sampson and the late Harlan Sampson. Ginger was an only child and spent her younger years living on a farm near the O'Sullivan reservoir.
Horses were a huge part of her life. She competed in the rodeo circuit and was crowned Grant County Rodeo Princess in 1965. She graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1966. She moved to Tri-Cities to attend college following graduation.
She married Robert Haring in 1971 and they made their home in Moses Lake, Wash. She gave birth to two sons, Todd Brandon Haring on August 28, 1972 and Ryan Dean Haring on March 11, 1975. She later divorced in 1988 and never remarried .
Ginger was an employee of Big Bend community College for 21 years. She enjoyed traveling with her best friend, Marjorie Hicks-Homberg and her dear friend, Gary Anderson. She enjoyed spending time laughing and telling stories with her family and friends. She was an active member of the Moses Lake Eagles Lodge.
She is survived by: her mother, June Sampson of Moses Lake; her son, Todd and Annie Haring of Las Vegas, Nev.; her son, Ryan and Tricia Haring of Ritzville, Wash.; and four grandchildren, Jared, Brandon, Makenzie and Meredith.
The funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at New Beginnings Christian Center, 318 Northshore Drive in Moses Lake with Pastor Skip Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Pioneer Memorial Gardens in Moses Lake. There will be a celebration of Ginger's life following the services at the Moses Lake Eagles Lodge.
Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel of Memories.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Moses Lake Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1337, Moses Lake, WA 98837.

Patricia Waslawski
Patricia Waslawski, 54, passed away at her home in Centralia, Wash. on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004.
Born into an Air Force family in Breeze, Illinois, she traveled to different bases in Alaska, Wyoming, Texas, England, Mississippi and Washington.
Pat attended high school in Moses Lake and graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus, Mississippi. She attended the University of Washington and received a degree in environmental health from Central Washington University in 1980.
Pat loved to travel, and visited her family twice in Germany and also traveled twice to Greece. Her most memorable travel was to Medjugorje, Bosnia to view the apparitions of the Virgin Mary. Pat was an avid gardener and was famous for her jams made from berries grown in her yard.
Pat is survived by her son, Ryan, and loyal companions Sadie and Steel of Centralia, sisters Marge (Dennis) Hughes of Richland, Trudy (Matt) Black of Soap Lake, Nancy Cook of Moses Lake, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Hedwig Waslawski and special family friend Bertha Williams.
Memorial services will be held Dec. 11 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centralia.

Raymond (Ray) A. Zimmer, Jr.
Raymond (Ray) A. Zimmer, Jr., 70, of Moses Lake, Wash., passed away on July 30. 2004 at the University of Washington Hospital in Seattle from complications following surgery.
Ray and his wife, Colleen, moved to the Moses Lake area in 1996 after he retired.
He was born in Phoenix, Ariz. on May 22, 1934 and lived in Arizona as a young child, before moving to Redlands, Calif. He met and married his wife in 1955 and would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in August.
They later moved to Albuquerque, NM, where they resided for 22 years before moving to Moses Lake.
Ray loved to spend his time with his family, fishing, gleaning, gardening and reading. He was a skilled artisan cabinet maker and carpenter. He delighted in making furniture for his family.
He also had a wonderful sense of humor and made friends wherever he went. He loved to travel around the country and visit with Colleen's many pen-pals. Ray was also a member of Redlands Masonic Lodge #300 and past master of Albuquerque Masonic Lodge #60.
Ray was the father of four children, and had 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Colleen; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Byron Sullivan of Yucaipa, Calif. and Cheryl and Calvin Baker of Moses Lake; son, Rick Zimmer of Dawson City, Yukon, Canada; mother-in-law, Gorda Jeffcoat of Yucaipa; and grandchildren, Brian and Nathan Dunn, Amy and Levi Sullivan, all of Yucaipa, Melanie Schwindt of Killeen, Texas, Joshua Zimmer and Cassandra Blackham, both of Moses Lake, Kelly Hernandez and Paul Fields, both of Albuquerque, and Rebecca, Sybil and Cathleen Zimmer, all of Sechelt, Canada.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Sr. and Minnie Zimmer, daughter, Lori Fields, and grandsons, Jason and Christopher Dunn.
Services will be held at the Centennial Amphitheater at McCosh Park in Moses Lake, with Jeff Turner officiating. The service will be casual, so bring a blanket or lawn chair and help celebrate Ray's life.

Ray will be greatly missed by his family and friends, one and all.

Michael Larry Laugen
Michael Larry Laugen, 52, of Ephrata, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2004 in Moses Lake after a long battle with dementia.
He was born to Glen and Rose Laugen in Shelton on May 9, 1952.
He married his wife, Cheryl on February 16, 1974 and moved their family to Ephrata in 1982. There he worked for Central Washington Appraisals and later for Washington Mutual Bank as an appraiser, covering a good portion of central Washington.
Michael is survived by: his wife, Cheryl Laugen; a daughter, Melissa Olivas; a son, Jason Laugen; three grandchildren, Tatum and Triniti Olivas and Tyson Laugen; his mother, Rose Townsend of Kirkland; and a sister, Judy Rodriguez of Seattle.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jon Laugen.
The family would like to invite all who knew Mike to a memorial service to be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2004 at the First Presbyterian Church in Ephrata.
