Falcon Kaikai Ramirez went home to be with the Lord on June 2, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2004 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Warden.
Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.
Falcon was born on March 16, 2004 in Spokane, Wash.
He is survived by: his parents, Raymond Ramirez and Rayona Torres of Moses Lake; three brothers, Phoenix, Raymond and Talon; one sister, Paris; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Ann Lewis of Eagle Point, Ore.; maternal grandfather, Neil Torres of Moses Lake; aunts and uncles, Felicia Lewis of Ashland, Ore., Dede Puente, Jeannie and Robert Ferguson, Marie Torres, Juanita Torres, all of Moses Lake, and Kenneth Lewis II of Eagle Point; paternal grandparents, Moises and Natividad Ramirez of Moses Lake; uncle, Moises Ramirez, Jr. and aunts, Maria Ramirez, Rosita Perez, Susie Ramirez and Raquel Ramirez, all of Moses Lake; and numerous cousins.

Arnett Reginald "Reggie" Shaw Jr.
Arnett Reginald "Reggie" Shaw, Jr., 45, passed away May 27, 2004 at his home in Moses Lake. Funeral services will be held in Milwaukee, Wisc.
Local arrangements are in care of Benson Family Funeral Services, Moses Lake.

Gordon Lyle Pierce
Gordon Lyle Pierce, 79, of Ephrata, died Sunday, January 25, 2004 at Central Washington Hospital after a long fight with diabetes. He was born in Willmar, Minn. and grew up in Wyoming.
He was a "D-Day Invasion" veteran with the Armys 2nd Rangers at Point Du Hoc. After returning from World War II, he became a construction carpenter and later worked for the Department of Labor and Industries as a Compliance Inspector, where he retired in 1988.
He is survived by: his wife, Dodie of 57 years; one brother, Duane Pierce of Ferndale, Wash.; one sister, Bonnie Godsey of Hendersonville, SC; five children, Linda Gary Pierson of Ephrata, Michael Donna Pierce of Ephrata, Rod Connie Pierce of Blue Lake, Patti Joe Whalen of Ephrata, and Greg Jennye Pierce of Golden, Colo.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Lyle, as he was known to most, was active in the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, Moose, Elks, American Legion, Lions and the VFW. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, camping, fishing and visiting with friends.
Viewing will be at Nicoles Funeral Home in Ephrata on Saturday, January 31, 2004 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Funeral services will follow at the Ephrata United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. A reception will follow at the church. There will be no graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Childrens Hospital in Spokane, Wash., and/or the Ephrata Masonic Lodge for funds to provide handicap access.
Nicoles Funeral Home of Ephrata is in charge of arrangements.

Nereida J. Alvarez
Nereida J. Alvarez, 47, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Monday, January 26, 2004 at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane. Holy Rosary will be prayed and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2004 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Felipe Pulido as celebrant. Interment will follow in Pioneer Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are in care of Kaysers Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.
Viewing will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Thursday, January 29 from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Nereida was born December 7, 1956 in Carrizo Springs, Texas to the late Cristobal M. and Maria Trevino Jimenez. At a young age, she moved with her family to Moses Lake where she was raised and educated.
She married Natividad R. Alvarez II on September 23, 1973 in Moses Lake, where they made their home. Nereida enjoyed shooting pool and was a member of the Ripple Pool League. She also enjoyed collecting frog and dolphin figurines.
Survivors include: her husband, Natividad R. Alvarez II; her son, Natividad J. Alvarez III; two grandchildren, Alex and Shyanne Alvarez; four brothers, Mario Varela, Cristobal Jimenez Jr., Ernesto Jimenez and Jessie Jimenez; seven sisters, Tomasa Alvarado, Delia Talamantes, Blanca Jimenez, Sylvia Zamora, Elza Benavidez, Corina Trevino and Pearl Castro; and two aunts, Herlinda Trevino and Guadalupe Hernandez.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Cesar.

Nereida J. Alvarez
Nereida J. Alvarez, 47, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Monday, January 26, 2004 at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane. Rolland Dale "Rollie" Clark
Rollie Clark passed away Sunday, January 25, 2004 at Oregon Health Science University Hospital in Portland, Ore. from liver cancer.
Born March 6, 1927 in Payette, Idaho, he was the youngest of three children born to Edward Henry and Laura Arabelle Twilegar Clark. He was raised on the Snake, and then the Salmon River. By the age of 14 he was driving the Riggins, Idaho school bus.
His family moved to the Tri-Cities when he was still a teenager, where he sold his car to purchase a dump truck. He rented his truck to a friend during the day while he attended high school and then he drove it at night to help with the construction of the original roads in Richland.
He was salutatorian of Hover High School, and enlisted in the Navy on March 5, 1945. After his discharge in 1946, he moved back to Kennewick and married Betty Markham in 1947.
From 1947-1967 he worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator at local dams on the Snake River, among other areas. In 1967 he started Clark Hay Cubing, with a stationary plant in the Port of Pasco and six portable cubers. It was one of the largest businesses of this type in the Pacific Northwest for many years, and exported hay cubes to Kobe, Japan and Alaska. He was very proud to have a business where he could employ his family, passing down his work ethics and skills.
He also owned and managed farms first in Quincy, then in Hover, Wash. from the early 50s to his retirement. During his "retirement" he bought and sold homes and land in Washington.
He enjoyed football and making a good deal. Recently he enjoyed "coffee time" with friends at Desert Villa. Throughout his life, he loved to laugh, be with family and friends, and share stories.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Warren Dale "Butchie" Clark in 1970, and by his parents.
He is survived by: children Shirley, Carol, Allen, Bruce and Neal; grandchildren, Eric, Jennifer, Tiffany, Hillary and Ellie; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Madeline; and siblings Iris Hayes and Edward "Bud" Clark.
Services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Muellers Chapel of the Falls, 314 W. 1st Ave., Kennewick. Friends and family are invited to meet afterwards at Desert Villa, 630 S. Washington, Kennewick.

Jacob Thaut
Jacob Thaut, age 95, formerly of Ritzville, passed away January 25, 2004 in Moses Lake.
Surviving is a brother Dan Thaut, his wife, Joy of Moses Lake, a nephew, Jerry Thaut and a niece, Sue Deal.
Jacob Thaut, the son of Jacob and Susan Riber Thaut, was born August 25, 1908 in Colb, Russia. He came with his family at age four to Ritzville by way of Nebraska in 1914.
He farmed for a few years before working most of his life as a carpenter for Kochs Building Supply, Seim Builders, Schuler Pre Mix and for Walt Eckhardt. He has been at Sunbridge Care in Moses Lake the past several years.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Ritzville Memorial cemetery.
Danekas Funeral Home, Ritzville, Wash., is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Maria T. Jimenez
Maria T. Jimenez, 76, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at Samaritan Hospital.
Arrangements are in care of Kaysers Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.

Randy Carter Hill
Randy Carter Hill, of Moses Lake, Wash., passed away November 24, 2003 after a courageous battle with a long-term illness. He moved to Moses Lake two years ago to be closer to his two daughters and grandson.
His home was always Dolores, Colo., but his health forced him to move. He was born May 15, 1952 in Denver, Colo., but the Dolores country always called him back.
Randy worked in construction, mostly in sheetrock, taking pride in his good work. He loved the outdoors. It was in his blood -- camping, boating, fishing, hiking, sometimes working in resorts so he could be there always. His enthusiasm for life drew people to him, always making lifelong friends everywhere he went.
He is survived by: his three children, Tracy Hayden, Malinda and husband, Casey Fuller, both of Moses Lake, and son, Nick Hill of Denver; four grandchildren, Dusty, Cody, Logan and Seth, with Malinda expecting in February; mother and stepfather, Doris and Phil Belt of Cortez, Colo.; father, Melvin Hill of Grand Junction, Colo.; two sisters and one half-sister; and numerous nieces and nephews, with many adopted along the way.
He was a good man and was close to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by everyone. He was a wonderful son, brother, father, uncle and friend who will never be forgotten.
His family will be taking him home to Cortez/Dolores, Colo. for services. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in care of Benson Family Funeral Service of Moses Lake 509-766-0191.

Miles Scott Hodgson
Miles Scott Hodgson, 67, of Wilson Creek, Wash., lost his fight against cancer on November 29, 2003. He ended his battle since October 1993.
Miles was the eighth child of Loy and Agnes Hodgson. He was born on October 26, 1936 in St. Maries, Idaho.
Miles graduated from St. Maries High School in 1956. From there, he went to Boise State College in 1957. In 1957, Miles won the Northwest Division Golden Glove for Lightweight. He also played in the Potato Bowl of 1957 in California.
In 1964, he married Marian Moore and adopted her children, Connie and Stoddard. Miles only natural child came from this union, Moeneeka Hodgson, a child with the ideals of her father and the desire to follow through.
In 1978, Miles and Marian divorced and traveled their separate paths. Miles continued to support his children and offered various activities. His pride of this time was to raise Sean Moore, a youngster of many talents and strengths.
In the later part of 1957, Miles enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was assigned to various posts, but fondly remembers his time at Fort Lewis and Fort Ord. He received an honorable discharge in 1959.
Miles married his present wife, Sharon Marie Evans in 1981 and gained two stepchildren, Kristina Marie and Aaron Thomas Evans, who both presently reside in Montana. During his life, Miles was a man of many talents but he never failed to remember his fellow man. His generosity was open to any in need.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Millard, father, Loy Hodgson, his brothers, Loy, Jr., Dwane Hodgson and Tom Hodgson and sister, Dorothy.
He is survived by: his wife of 22 years, Sharon; his son, Stoddard and wife, Jan Hodgson of Spokane; daughters, Connie and husband, Dennis of Spokane and Moeneeka and husband, David Gladden of Medical Lake, Wash.; daughter, Kristina and Randy Huffsmith of Helena, Mont. and son, Aaron and wife, Rhonda Lee of Butte, Mont.; brother, Myron Hodgson of Spokane; sister, Lois Hodgson of Pullman, Wash.; brother, John Hodgson of Plummer; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews, and many friends.
A donation to cancer or child-related charity would be appreciated.
By Miles request, there will be no funeral. A graveside military salute will be held at noon at the Wilson Creek cemetery for the family on December 6, 2003. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post 28 on Saturday, December 6, 2003.

Alberta Wear
Alberta Wear, 75, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Moses Lake.
Arrangements are in care of Kaysers Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.

Robert "Big Redd" Vance
Robert "Big Redd" Vance, 55, passed away September 24, 2003 at KMC in Post Falls, Idaho. He was born March 11, 1948 in Tennessee to Robert and Delilah Vance.

He married Cheryl Brumbaugh Pollard on June 20, 1986 in Coeur dAlene, Idaho.

Robert moved to Spokane in 1974 from Chicago on a basketball scholarship. In 1980, he moved to Moses Lake, Wash. for eight years. In 1988, he moved to Post Falls.

Robert was a dog handler in the dog racing industry. He was a fan of sports, Nintendo, a TV junkie and a Trekie. He also enjoyed helping others in need.

He is survived by: his wife, Cheryl, at home; sons and daughter-in-law, Dave and Hannah Pollard of Coeur dAlene and Robert Mitchell of Seattle, Wash.; five grandchildren, Dakota, Shadow, Samantha, Dominic and Robert; one brother, Kenny; three sisters, Linda, Deb and Fae; and all of Redds special kids, "you know who you are."

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marvin.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at 3 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church in Post Falls.

English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, is in charge of arrangements.

Fon Smith

Fon Smith, 91, of Monroe, Wash., died September 9, 2003. He was born October 28, 1911 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Mary Wardle and Charles Generous Lund. He was raised by his stepfather, Allen Monroe Smith.

In his early adult life, Fon worked for J.R. Simplot. He later bought and operated his own truck and hauled livestock. He moved to Moses Lake, Wash. in 1955 and also lived in Ephrata for a short while.

Fon loved to travel and enjoyed fishing, hunting, horses and prospecting.

He married Ida Viola Woodall on December 24, 1935 and they had four children. They separated in 1962. In August of 1963, he married Midge Davis. They had no children and later divorced.

Fon is survived by: his wife, Mary Zulkey Sorenson of Blackfoot, Idaho; his four children, Allen L. Smith of Tahuya, Wash., Herbert J. Smith of Moses Lake, Wash., Gaii D. Dennis of Monroe, Wash., and Mrs. Richard M. Diane Freebairn of Milpitas, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; one brother, Herbert L. Smith of Heyburn, Idaho; and one sister, Theo Hollinger of Issaquah, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary Wardle and Charles Lund, his stepfather, Allen M. Smith, three sisters, Grace Connelley, Marion Horner and Elsie Odom, and two brothers, Allen M. Smith Jr. and Harlon O. Smith.
