Barbara Jean Kreider
Barbara Jean Kreider of Carlton, died in her home March 1, 2001. She was 72.
She was born Nov. 17, 1928 in Juanita, Wash. (now Kirkland) to Hazel (Hampton) and William Trask.
Barbara was raised in Juanita and attended Lake Washington High School. She married James Kreider June 5, 1947 in Redmond, Wash. She worked for West Coast Telephone Co. and as a lab technician in several Kirkland-area dental offices. Their son, Stephen, was born in 1951.
The family moved to Carlton in 1975, and together built and operated the Country Town Motel in Carlton. In May 2000, they opened Barb's Country Town Cafe next to the motel, fulfilling one of Barbara's lifelong dreams.
Barbara, who loved flowers and home decorating, also enjoyed camping, fishing and boating with her family. They had many adventures together, including flying private planes, and traveling to Lopez and Center Islands for recreation and construction work.
Together they built boats and cabins, and once put an 18-foot boat they built into the Columbia River at Coulee Dam, traveling all the way up to Upper Arrow Lake in Canada, before there were any dams.
Barbara was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, and attended the United Methodist Church in Pateros. She will be remembered as a very warm and loving person, who always had time for everyone.
She is survived by her husband James, at home; and her son Stephen and his wife Sandy in Carlton.
Service is March 8 at 1 p.m. in the United Methodist Church in Pateros. Graveside services will follow at Beaver Creek cemetery in Twisp, after which there will be a potluck at Barb's Country Town Cafe in Carlton.
Flowers may be sent to Barnes Chapel, 2547 Elmway, Okanogan.

Ann Etta Lochmiller, 1923-2009
Ann Etta Lochmiller died Monday, April 27, 2009, at Avalon Care Center in Othello.
Ann was born in Ainsworth, Neb., on April 6, 1922, to John and Blanch Anderson Williams.
She attended school in Ainsworth, graduating from high school in 1940.
While in high school, she met Carl Lochmiller. They married on Sept. 6, 1940, in Ainsworth. In 1942, they moved to Washington, then to Portland, Ore.
The family moved to Othello in 1951.
Ann helped Carl run their real estate and insurance agency. She then went to work for Dr. Largent as a dental assistant, then Dr. Taylor when he opened his practice in Othello. Dr. Bagley took over the practice when Dr. Taylor retired.
Ann worked until she turned 62 and then went fishing. Her children had a cabin at Twin Lakes; she enjoyed traveling to spend time with her children but mainly to fish. She and Carl enjoyed golfing and took every opportunity to play. She was passionate about bingo and would travel to Spokane to see her daughter and play bingo at the Sons of Norway Hall.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl and a son David. She is survived by her son Rich, of Mt. Vernon, a daughter Doris Vilhauer, of Spokane, a sister Alfreda Mahoney, of Brooksville, Fl., her longtime caregiver and best friend Rita Owen, of Othello, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be held on Friday, May 1, at Stevens Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m.

Donna Moore
Services for Donna Moore were held Friday, Aug. 21, 2009 at West Hills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 8470 Oleson Road, Portland, Ore.
Donna was a 1982 graduate of Othello High School. She died last week of leukemia.
She is survived by her sister Kelly Moore Fenell (OHS class of 1979) and her four children, ages 25, 18, 12 and 11.
The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made in Donna’s name to Southwest Community Health Center, 775 SW Capitol Hwy, Portland, OR 97219.

Abelino Fuentes Rodriquez, 1920 – 2009
Abelino Fuentes Rodriguez, 89, of Othello, died Friday, Nov. 13, at Othello Community Hospital.
Abelino was born in El Moral, Coah., Mexico, on April 1, 1920, to Enrique and Elena (Fuentes) Rodriguez.
As he grew, he worked the family farm in El Moral. He married Consuelo Galindo in El Moral on Aug. 31, 1940. After Abelino’s father died, he entered the El Brazero program and entered the U.S. to find work.
He worked in Texas for several years, returning to his hometown and his family as often as he could.
In 1959, he moved to Othello with two other friends and found employment in the newly irrigated Basin.
In 1962, Abelino was reunited with his wife and children after 15 years. He retired at the age of 60 from Peterson’s farms for health reasons.
Abelino loved to garden. Roses were a favorite, as well as growing vegetables to eat and share.
He was very proud of starting walnut trees from seed and planting them in his families’ yards. Abelino’s favorite time of year was Christmas.
He always began decorating inside and outside the house early in the season and enjoyed it until after Christmas was over.
When he was no longer able to decorate himself, he would oversee his grandsons as they did the work for him.
Abelino is preceded in death by his parents, all of his brothers and sisters and two daughters Alicia and Elena. He is survived by his children Arturo (Dora) Rodriguez, of Eagle Pass, Texas, Abelino (Connie) Rodriguez, of Moses Lake, and Araceli (Mario) Garcia of Othello, 12 grand children and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Stevens Funeral Chapel. The Rosary was prayed at the chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The burial followed at Bess Hampton Memorial Gardens.
Services were entrusted to Stevens Funeral Chapel.

Charles Alan Kendall, 1941 – 2010
Charles Alan Kendall, 68, longtime Royal Slope resident, died in his home Wednesday, March 17, 2010.
Charles was born Nov. 22, 1941, in Rupert, Idaho, to Roy Lionel Kendall and Marion Estella (Moffitt) Kendall.
In 1957, Charles moved from Rupert to Royal Slope and has lived and worked there since.
He worked for Dee Christensen and later for Bob Christensen in Royal City for more than 25 years.
Charles enjoyed refinishing furniture, loved working on the farm, but most of all, loved working in the Temple.
He will be remembered for his quiet, dedicated, humble service for many, many years. He was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully throughout his life.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lionel Kendall and his first wife Bonnie Kendall.
He is survived by his dear wife and best friend Rachel Kendall, of Royal City; siblings Betty Loud Yeamon, of Jackson, Idaho, David (Janet) Kendall, of Columbia Heights, Minn., and Joan Kemper, of Hanson, Idaho; children Carmen (Glen) Meservy, of Jasper, Ind., Faye (Michael) Ray, of Hornersville, Mo., Ben (Kim) Kendall, of Meridian, Idaho, Sherri (Rick) Bell, of Rexburg, Idaho, LeRae (Mark) Kendall, of Vancouver, Paul (Clarissa) White, of Ephrata, Henri (Jesika) White, of Virginia Beach, Va., Catherine Allen, of Moses Lake, Angelina (Derrick) Perkes, of Kent, Elena (Brandon) Goble, of Orem, Utah, Levi (Holly) White, of Duncan, B.C., Susanne (Max) Paterson, and Joy White, of Moses Lake, 29 (plus one in April) grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many, many dear friends.
Viewing was held Monday, March 22, at Carver Family Funeral Home, 1217 E. Wheeler Road, Moses Lake, Tuesday, March 23, at the Royal Camp Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Funeral services followed with Bishop Ryan Christensen conducting. Vault interment and concluding services were held at Royal Memorial Gardens, Royal City.
Charles’ family has asked Carver Family Funeral Home to care for final arrangements.

Diana Lynn Jay, 1949 – 2011
Diana Lynn Jay, 61, of Warden, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at her home with her family by her side. Diana was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on June 8, 1949, to Darryl and Christine (Boughman) Short. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1967.

Clarence Wesley `Kang' `Smokey' Bear
March 12, 1917 -- Oct. 11, 2006
Clarence Wesley ``Kang" ``Smokey" Bear of Port Angeles died of age-related causes. He was 89.
He was born in Milbank, S.D., to John Henry and Daisy Arloa (Burbank) Bear.
He married Wanda E. Beeman in Okanagan on Jan. 29, 1937.
Mr. Bear was a driver for Columbia Concrete in Okanagon County.
He also worked for Boeing Aircraft for a time before retiring as a chainsaw mechanic from the ITT Rayonier Hoko Camp.
In addition to enjoying their children and grandchildren, the Bears liked gardening and traveling in their motorhome.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Garry W. and Cheryl Bear and daughter and son-in-law Leta L. and Ray Barnes, all of Port Angeles; sister June Brantner of Okanagon; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter Nora Anderson; brothers Jim Bear, Bob Bear, Jack Bear and Bill Bear; and sisters Sibil Bear, Irene Lenhart, Vera Hobart, Mabel Cook, Daisy Cates and Ethel Mitchell.
Mrs. Bear died April 22, 2005.
Services: Thursday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m., graveside in Mount Angeles Memorial Park, U.S. Highway 101 and Monroe Road, Port Angeles. The Rev. Dr. Mike Jones will officiate.
A reception will follow at Garry Bear's home, 933 Key Road, Port Angeles.
Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

William Joseph Bloomer
Oct. 22, 1927 -- Oct. 6, 2006
William Joseph Bloomer died in his Sequim home after a long illness. He was 79.
He was born in Prescott, Ariz., to Harold William and Lola Elizabeth (Edwards) Bloomer.
Mr. Bloomer, who was a member of the International Electrical Workers, was a surveyor for the Salt River Project in Phoenix before coming to the North Olympic Peninsula.
He was also employed in security positions at Salt Lake City, and at 7 Cedars Casino in Blyn.
He is survived by his wife, the former Marilyn Fox; sons Jerome Bloomer, Micheal Bloomer and Benjamin Bloomer, all of Arizona; and daughters Susan Hendricks, Janice Blackinton, Denise Bloomer and Pamela Bloomer, all of Arizona, also.
He was preceded in death by sister Donna Molina.
Services: Monday, Oct. 23, 10 a.m., Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eighth and Washington streets, Sequim.
Olympic Cremation Association is in charge.
Memorials: Hospice of Clallam County, P.O. Box 2014, Port Angeles, WA 98362.

Daniel R. Green
Oct. 23, 1947 -- Oct. 13, 2006
Daniel R. Green of Port Angeles died in Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, of injuries sustained in a work-related accident. He was 58.
He was born in Port Angeles to Ray Darrell and Flora H. (DeHoog) Green.
He attended both Peninsula College in Port Angeles and Western Washington University in Bellingham.
Mr. Green served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
He was a 26-year employee of Olympic National Park.
His marriage to Patricia Loveswar ended in divorce in 1978.
Mr. Green was a member of Independent Bible Church.
Survivors include son Curtis Lee Green of Port Angeles; daughters Dana E. Mitts and Jami N. Green, both of Port Angeles; his mother, Flora H. Keeler, of Port Angeles; brother Max D. Green and sister Sally J. Allen, both of Port Angeles; sister and brother-in-law Nancy G. and Gary Walters of Marysville; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and granddaughter Cassandra Robinson.
Services: Friday, Oct. 20, 11 a.m., funeral at Independent Bible Church, 116 E. Ahlvers Road, Port Angeles.
Graveside committal will follow in Ocean View cemetery, 3127 W. 18th St., Port Angeles. The Rev. Ozark Leap will officiate.
A dinner will follow at the Lower Elwha Tribal Center, 2851 Lower Elwha Road, Port Angeles.
Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.
