Harry C. ‘Tiny’ Youngberg
November 14, 1932 — December 26, 2013
Harry C. “Tiny” Youngberg was born in Duluth, Minn., Nov. 14, 1932 to Harry C. and Leona (Smith) Youngberg, and passed away after a short illness Dec. 26, 2013 at home in Shelton, Wash.
When his father was killed in 1944, he moved with his mother and three siblings to Friday Harbor, Wash., where he graduated from high school while working at various jobs.
He married Ruth Tuck and they moved to Houston, Texas, and began what was to become 40 years in the tire sales and service business. They moved to Tacoma, Wash. in 1956 and he helped his father-in-law and brother-in-law, Ed and Eddie Tuck, establish T & T Tire, and then opened Tiny’s Tire Center, where he enjoyed taking care of his customers’ tire needs.
Interspersed in his 81 years was a summer of commercial salmon fishing in southeastern Alaska; 26 years of ranching at his home in the Eatonville area; work in the real estate market; several years spent as a volunteer fireman and as an employee of Pierce County Fire District 15, all of which he enjoyed very much. He also enjoyed fishing, relaxing on Baja and traveling; was an avid reader, and played a good game of cribbage and pinochle.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 63 years, his three daughters; Peggy Youngberg of Shelton, Gayle Skredsvig and Annette, (Gordon) Cavanaugh of Tacoma; two granddaughters, Gabrielle and Marquee Cavanaugh; a sister, Phyllis Madan of Lynden, Wash. and brother Dr. C. Duane (Myrna) Youngberg of Woodbridge, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Herbert Youngberg. Tiny will be greatly missed by his loving family and a great many friends whom he loved.
A ‘Celebration of Life’ is planned for Sunday, Jan. 12 at the Firefighters Hall 1109 S. 50th St. Tacoma, Wash.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tiny’s name to your favorite charity.

BENITA WARREN
Benita Warren, better known as ``Bonnie, " was born in Bay City, Michigan, on June 5, 1918, and died on Wednesday, May 10, just a few weeks short of her 88th birthday.
Bonnie was a fun-loving, outgoing person who made friends everywhere she went.
In her younger years she loved singing and dancing; however, in her later years she was happy playing bingo and being with her family.
She moved to Port Angeles in 1995 from California to be near her son, Terry, and his family.
Bonnie had been happily living at St. Andrew's Place for the last few years.
She is survived by her son, George Baranek, in Florida; her daughter, Jeanne Anduss, in Texas; and her son, Terry Roszatycki, in Port Angeles.
Bonnie leaves behind many wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her son, James Baranek, had preceded her in death.
At her request, there will be no memorial service. However, if any of her friends would remember her with a short, silent prayer, she would have appreciated it.

Edwin Leland Burnham
Jan. 15, 1922 -- May 15, 2006
Edwin Leland Burnham died of a heart attack in his Port Townsend home. He was 84.
He was born in Los Angeles to Clarence and Una (Dudley) Burnham.
As a young man, he spent his summers on the family ranch in Wyoming, where Native American children taught him how to identify and track wild game. He was also allowed to spend one year living in a teepee with the family of the tribe's chief.
As he grew older, Mr. Burnham took over management of the ranch, which employed 19 cowboys and covered 305, 000 acres supporting 72, 000 cattle and 1, 500 Arabian horses.
He enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1941 and was scheduled to attend the Coast Guard Academy. He was commissioned a Navy officer and sent to the South Pacific.
Mr. Burnham was given command of a light cruiser that patrolled from the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Alaska. At the completion of a run, he docked at the old Standard Oil pier in Port Townsend.
He received his master's degree and doctorate in math from Harvard University.
Mr. Burnham then taught high school in Temple City, Calif., where he was honored as Citizen of the Year in 1972. He also tutored hundreds of students on his own time and personally paid college tuition for many of them.
As skipper of a Sea Scout detachment, he taught leadership, navigation and seamanship.
In the early 1980s, Mr. Burnham began partial retirement in Port Townsend, where he worked at Carley's Hardware until it closed. He later was employed at Port Townsend Lumber across the street, until he entered full retirement in 2001.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and an honorary Rotarian.
He married Marjorie Delores ``Margie" (Moore) Tetzlaff in Las Vegas on March 27, 1970.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Burnham's survivors include stepsons Ted and Tori Tetzlaff, stepdaughter Terri Tetzlaff; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers John and Robert Burnham.
Services: Celebration of life to be announced.
Private interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, Calif., with Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, in charge of local arrangements.

Dorthea Mae `Dolly' Homman
Feb. 11, 1936 -- May 15, 2006
Dorthea Mae ``Dolly" Homman of Nordland died of cancer on Marrowstone Island. She was 70.
Born in Lewiston, Mont., to George F. and Dorothy (Grandy) Spencer, she grew up in western Montana and in Port Angeles, where she graduated from high school in 1954.
She married Robert C. Homman in Port Angeles on Aug. 4, 1956.
The Hommans moved to Seattle, where they raised their family, and she was employed by dentist Dr. Johnny Johnson for more than 40 years.
She moved to Marrowstone Island in 1990.
Mrs. Homman enjoyed flowers, birdwatching from her sunroom, berry picking and pie making.
She was a member of Oak Bay Baptist Church in Port Hadlock.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Homman's survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Steven Homman and Naomi Takeuchi of Sapporo, Japan, and Brian Homman and Patricia McCreary of Seattle; daughter and son-in-law Lucille and Simon Mestre of Bellingham; brothers and sisters-in-law Lloyd and Fran Spencer and Gary and Geri Braun, all of Port Angeles, George and June Spencer of Poulsbo and George and Kay Hedblum of St. Paul, Minn.; brother Robert Hedblum of Red Rock, Ariz.; sisters and brothers-in-law Sylvia and Bob Steele of Edmonds, Roberta and Jim Smith of Mount Vernon and Dorothy and Irve Lecy of Lindstrom, Minn.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brother Kenneth Spencer.
Services: Wednesday, May 24, 2 to 8 p.m., visitation in Kosec Funeral Home, 1615 Parkside Drive, Port Townsend.
Memorial service Thursday, May 25, 1 p.m., San Juan Baptist Church, 1704 Discovery Road, Port Townsend. A reception will follow immediately in the chapel in Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend.
Private family celebration at graveside at Sound View cemetery, Marrowstone Island.
Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Shepherd Kramer
June 7, 1923 -- May 13, 2006
Betty Shepherd Kramer of Port Townsend died of a heart attack. She was 82.
She was born in Seymour, Iowa, to Wayne and Charlotte (Davis) Sheperd.
She earned her bachelor's degree, then was an active volunteer with many organizations, especially Providence Hospital, Seattle.
Mrs. Kramer was a longtime property owner and part-time resident of Methow Valley.
Husbands Frank Kersnar and Harrison Kramer preceded her in death.
Survivors include longtime companion Wilson Brown of Marysville; son and daughter-in-law Jere and Cheryl Kersnar of Gig Harbor; daughter and son-in-law Allyn and Dave Kersnar of New Zealand; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter Jennifer Ghee.
Services: None. Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials: Nature conservancy of choice.

Dorothy U. Andreasen
Nov. 26, 1920 -- May 13, 2006
Dorothy U. Andreasen of Sequim died of cancer. She was 85.
She was born in Iron River, Mich., to William James and Julia Louise (Mills) Uren.
Mrs. Andreasen, who was a teacher in Battle Creek, Mich., before retiring to Lakeland, Fla., in 1989, came to Sequim in April 2005.
She loved words, music, theater and the Detroit Tigers.
She was a mentor and inspiration to her granddaughters Maria Jackson and Joanna Jackson.
Mrs. Andreasen belonged to the Salvation Army in Port Angeles.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julia and David Jackson of Sequim.
Her husband, Robert O. Andreasen, died in July 1990.
Services: Remembrance during the 11 a.m. service Saturday, May 20, at the Salvation Army Church, 206 S. Peabody St., Port Angeles. Major Hal Hads will officiate.
Interment will be in Iron River, Mich., on June 17.

Magdalena S. Brown
Feb. 6, 1913 -- May 16, 2006
Magdalena S. Brown of Port Angeles died of age-related causes. She was 93.
She was born in Mercer, N.D., to Friedrich and Magdalena (Laib) Schell.
In Bismarck, N.D., she attended Capitol Commercial College and worked for J.C. Penney Co. Inc.
She married Ernest H. Wagner in Bismarck on July 28, 1947.
After moving to Mountlake Terrace, Mrs. Brown was a salesclerk at Terrace Pharmacy.
She was a past president of the Seattle chapter of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia.
After moving to Port Angeles, she was a docent for the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center and a member of the Library Board Retiree Club at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mr. Wagner preceded her in death.
She married Jack E. Brown in Port Angeles on married on May 12, 1991.
In addition to her husband, survivors include son and daughter-in-law Wayne E. Wagner and Sheila Walsh of Seattle; daughter and son-in-law Gwyn and Stephen Callis of Port Angeles; sister Leontine Olsen of Mountlake Terrace; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services: Monday, May 22, 2 p.m., graveside in Evergreen Washelli Memorial Park, Seattle.
Tuesday, May 23, 11:30 a.m., memorial in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 Lopez Ave., Port Angeles. A reception will follow.
Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.
