Donald Leslie Fiveash
April 7, 1948 -- May 13, 2006
Donald Leslie Fiveash of Port Angeles died in Seattle from complications of a fall. He was 58.
He was born in Santa Monica, Calif., to Alfred and Marie (Anderson) Fiveash.
He served in the Army.
Mr. Fiveash, who was a charter aircraft pilot, moved from Los Angeles to Port Angeles 8½ years ago.
In addition to flying, he was interested in computers, including computer flight simulation.
Mr. Fiveash is survived by his longtime companion, Jan Tucker of Port Angeles.
Services: Private memorial to be announced. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

Ken L. Gutenberger
April 25, 1962 -- May 11, 2006
Ken L. Gutenberger of Port Ludlow died of diabetes. He was 44.
Born in Seattle to Illerd G. and Mabel J. (Ibbotson) Gutenberger, he graduated from Mount Rainier High School and Edmonds Community College.
A contractor, he was the owner/operator of KL Excavating.
Mr. Gutenberger moved from South Seattle to Port Ludlow 15 years ago.
In addition to being an avid skier and fisherman, he was a volunteer fireman in both Burien and Port Ludlow.
Services: None. Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge.
Memorials: Donations in Mr. Gutenberger's name to Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue, 7650 Oak Bay Road, Port Ludlow, WA 98365.

Kalman Emery Reistetter Sr.
Dec. 12, 1921 -- May 15, 2006
Kalman Emery Reistetter Sr. of Sequim died of age-related causes in Wisteria Cottage, Bainbridge Island. He was 84.
He was born in Lipiny, Czechoslovakia, to tailor Emery and seamstress Louise (Sedlock) Reistetter.
He graduated from high school at New York in 1939 and was employed in civil service during World War II.
He married Margaret Prokator on Sept. 4, 1944, in New York City.
When Mr. Reistetter lived in Danbury, Conn., he was the commissioner for Little League Baseball as well as a member of the Exchange Club.
After the death of his wife on Nov. 25, 1990, he lived with his son.
Mr. Reistetter had also lived in Mastiff, Long Island, N.Y., and Las Vegas, Nev., before he moved to the North Olympic Peninsula in 1998.
Collecting stamps and reading the newspaper were among his interests.
He is survived by his son Kalman Reistetter Jr. of Sequim; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Reistetter was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy.
Services: May 31, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., visitation immediately preceding the 2 p.m. funeral and graveside committal at Palm Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, Nev. Mike Ficke will officiate.

Robert L. Swain
Nov. 8, 1931 -- May, 12, 2006
Services: Today, May 17, 11 a.m., service in Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, 105 W. Fourth St., Port Angeles. Location of the reception will be announced at the service.
Memorials: St. Jude Hospital Research, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.

ADA IRENE MARIE NELSON McLEAN
Ada Irene Marie Nelson McLean passed away Friday, May 12, 2006.
She was born the youngest of four children on her parents' homestead at the headwaters of the Hoko River on Oct. 13, 1907.
They moved to Clallam Bay in 1914.
Her siblings (all deceased) were Helma (Kenneth) Cowan of the Clallam Bay-Sekiu area; Bill Nelson (died in the line of duty as sheriff of Clallam County in Port Angeles in 1924); and Minnie (Oscar) Peterson of Forks.
The three sisters were often honored as ``Pioneers" of Clallam County.
She attended school in Clallam Bay through the 11th grade, graduating from Port Angeles High School (the only accredited high school in the area) in 1926.
In 1927, she married Charles E. McLean of Camano Island, and they lived in Sekiu, where she resided until April of this year.
Surviving are her four children, Charles N. (Joan) McLean of Tacoma; Jeri (Richard) Moore of Quilcene; James E. McLean of Sekiu; and Aileen (Evander) Corley of Auburn; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces with whom she also remained close.
The family would like to thank Virginia Tulloch for being her friend and always being available when needed.
The staff at the Port Angeles Care Center were appreciated for their caring concern during this past month.
Memorial service: Friday, May 26, at noon at Sekiu Community Club in Sekiu.

Dorothy E. Curtis
June 12, 1919 -- May 12, 2006
Former North Olympic Peninsula resident Dorothy Curtis died in Redmond of age-related causes. She was 86.
She was born in Redstone, Mont., to James and Stella Chance and raised in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
She married Royal J. Curtis in Spokane on March 6, 1941.
The Curtises moved to Port Angeles in 1995, and to Sequim in 1999.
Mrs. Curtis enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and cooking.
She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star for many years.
Survivors include brothers Marvin Chance of St. Paul, Minn., and Leo ``Bob" Chance of Clarkston; and sister Erma McMahon of Salem, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her husband in October 2005.
Services: Tuesday, May 16, 1 p.m., funeral service at Flintoft's Funeral Home, 540 E. Sunset Way, Issaquah. Private entombment at Portland Memorial Mausoleum in Portland, Ore.

Douglas Wilber Dobrin
Aug. 20, 1920 -- May 6, 2006
Douglas Wilber Dobrin of Port Townsend died at Kai Tai Care Center of a heart attack. He was 85.
He was born in Toppenish to Edgar and Laura (Johnson) Dobrin, and attended business school in Olympia.
During World War II, he worked in the Washington State Stenography Pool.
He lived in Seattle and Portland, Ore., most of his life, moving to Port Townsend in 1995.
He played the saxophone in high school and retained a love of music -- especially big band and jazz -- all his life.
Mr. Dobrin also enjoyed reading, good conversation, good food and architecture.
He met Linda LeBrane in 1970 and they became a ``father-daughter" family. He moved to Ruffin and Linda LeBrane's home in 1998 and they cared from him until 2003, when he became ill and moved to Kai Tai Care Center.
He was King of Kai Tai in the Rhododendron Festival Grand Parade of 2004.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Don Dobrin.
Services: None. Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials: Kai Tai Care Center, 751 Kearney St., Port Townsend, WA 98368.

Dean Lansing
April 21, 1922 -- May 13, 2006
Dean Lansing of Port Townsend died of cancer. He was 84.
He was born to Neil Chester and Garnett Marie (Denney) Lansing in Halfway, Ore.
He was in the Army Signal Corps during World War II.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and a master's degree in foreign trade from the American Institute for Foreign Trade in Phoenix.
Mr. Lansing's marriages to Virginia Hill and Lucille Thomlinson ended in divorce.
He married Natalie Grace Harrington in Williams Lake, British Columbia, on June 16, 1965.
Mr. Lansing was a logger and was operator of a timber business and, later, a cattle ranch in Northern California, co-developer of the North Las Vegas, Nev., Airport, owner of Colorado Analytical Lab, and on the board of Alaska Power and Telephone Co.
He enjoyed reading philosophy and physics, flying, boating and computers.
Survivors include his wife Natalie Grace Harrington; son Neil Dean Lansing II; daughters Karen Lansing Yarin, Lyneil Lansing Wasser and Nancy Lynne Lansing; brother Keith Brace Lansing; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services: None announced. Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge of arrangements.

Robert L. Swain
Nov. 8, 1931 -- May 12, 2006
Robert L. Swain of Port Angeles died of a heart attack at his home. He was 74.
He was born in Vallejo, Calif., to Leslie and Eva (Hydt) Swain.
Mr. Swain graduated from California Polytechnic State University, and was an electrical engineer for NASA in Canoga Park, Calif.
A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he rose to electrician's mate 2nd class during service in 1951 to 1955.
Mr. Swain belonged to the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, the former June Mary Groff; son Patrick E. Martin of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Mary K. and Ron Earle; sister Lillian Heissner; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: To be announced. Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, is in charged of arrangements.
Memorials: St. Jude Hospital Research, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN.
