Lillian May Boothe
June 25, 1927 -- Jan. 14, 2006
Beaver resident Lillian May Boothe, 78, died in Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation, Montesano. The cause of her death was related to Parkinson's disease.
She was born in Shelton to Ira C. and Lottie May (Singelton) Ford. She received her diploma from Mary M. Knight School in Matlock.
She married Leroy Charles Boothe in San Diego on Sept. 16, 1946.
In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Boothe and her husband co-owned Harbor Lanes in Hoquiam and acquired South Bend Bowling Alley in 1964.
She enjoyed raising orchids, appreciated art and played accordion and organ. She also enjoyed gardening, digging clams and gathering mushrooms.
After becoming ill, she came under the care of her daughter in Beaver. Before her husband died last Oct. 18, Mrs. Boothe's sister-in-law, Gladys Kemp, provided respite care.
Mrs. Boothe donated her body to science.
Survivors include son Dave Boothe of South Bend; daughter Dianna Hamlin of Beaver; sister Geraldene Brehmeyer of Matlock; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by sons Tyler and Wade Boothe.
Services: To be announced. Science Care Anatomical, Phoenix, Ariz., received her remains.

Lawrence Kenney III
April 30, 1942 -- Jan. 12, 2006
Lawrence Kenney III died of a stroke in Port Townsend. He was 63.
He was born to Lawrence and Isabella (Rudolph) Kenney II in New Orleans, where he was raised and made his home until Hurricane Katrina struck last Aug. 31.
Mr. Kenney was a Louisiana state trooper for 14 years and a former employee of the Louisiana State Museum in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
He moved to Port Townsend to live with his son and daughter-in-law.
Mr. Kenney, who enjoyed drawing, was a member of Battleground Baptist Church and the Louisiana State Employees Retirement System.
Mr. Kenney's survivors include his wife, the former Barbara Jean Kirk, whom he married in New Orleans in 1981; sons and daughters-in-law Samuel and Farrah Kirk of Port Townsend and Lawrence and April Kenney IV of New Orleans; mother-in-law Mandy G. Kirk of New Orleans; and 11 grandchildren.
Services: Christian Church memorial was held Jan. 19, with Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Ann Manes
June 26, 1926 -- Jan. 16, 2006
Port Angeles resident Margaret Ann Manes died of pneumonia at age 79.
She was born in San Diego to Rodney and Margaret (Buckly) Dennett.
During her marriage to Guy Albert Miller, whom she divorced, she lived in California and Alaska.
In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Manes was an active participant at Christian Evangelical Open Bible Church.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Lorinda and Alan Reed of Hutchinson, Minn.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brother Richard Dennett and sister Mary Jane Simpson.
Services: Private family services. Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

Edward Sampson Jr.
March 2, 1939 -- Jan. 16, 2006
Port Angeles resident Edward Sampson Jr., died of lung cancer in Seattle. He was 66.
Born in Port Angeles to Edward and Hazel (Hall) Sampson Sr., he attended area schools before going on to work as a logger and longshoreman. While employed at the K Ply mill, he was a member of the woodworkers' union.
He married Barbara Shaw in Port Angeles 40 years ago.
Mr. Sampson, who enjoyed the outdoors, also liked watching big-screen TV, playing lottery scratch tickets and using his pool room.
In addition to his wife in Port Angeles, survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Sheldon and Raeven Sampson and Raymond and Tanya Sampson, all of Puyallup; and sons Marvin Charles of Port Angeles and David Walters of Bainbridge Island.
Other survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Dan Sage of Joyce; Cindy and Mark Triggs of Port Angeles, and Stacy and Larry Dunn of Port Angeles; daughters Anita Charles, Frances ``Jeanie" Thompson and Lancia Charles, all of Port Angeles; his mother; brother and sister-in-law Melvin and Karen Sampson of Port Angeles; sisters Ramona Benke and Pauline Charles of Port Angeles; and sisters and brothers-in-law Margie and Juan Macias and Norma and Denton Adams of Port Angeles.
Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his father, brother Harvey, and sisters Leona, Laverne, Barbara and Susie.
Services: Monday, Jan. 23, 1 p.m., memorial in Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, 105 W. Fourth St., Port Angeles. Dinner will follow at the Lower Elwha Tribal Center, 2851 Lower Elwha Road, Port Angeles.

Robert William Dalton
Sept. 18, 1921 -- Jan. 18, 2006
Port Angeles resident Robert William Dalton died at age 84.
Olympic Cremation Association, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

Nickolas Leon Gott
July 15, 1963 -- Jan. 18, 2006
Sequim resident Nickolas Leon Gott died in Olympic Medical Center, Port Angeles, at age 42. Cause of death is pending.
He was born to Delbert Leon and Linda Lou (Gunnell) Gott in Port Angeles, where he attended Peninsula College.
He married Karma Regina Earley in Sequim on Sept. 13, 2003.
Mr. Gott was a logger and equipment operator in Forks and Sequim.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting and motorcycles. He was a member of the American Motorcycle Association and Sequim Bible Church.
Survivors include his wife, son Kyle Leon Gott, daughter Tiffany Ella Gott, his parents, and his sister-and brother-in-law, Terri and Jordan Hintz, all of Sequim.
Services: Saturday, Jan. 21, 1 p.m., graveside service in Sequim View cemetery. The Rev. Dave Wiitala will officiate.
Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Arthur John Holden
Feb. 29, 1916 -- Jan. 14, 2006
Arthur John Holden died in Olympic Care and Rehabilitation Center, Sequim, of age-related causes. He was 89.
He was born to Arthur and Ada Agnes (Archer) Holden in Ipswich, England, where he attended St. Margaret's Church and School through the eighth grade.
He served six years in England with the British Army's Suffolk (County) Regiment in 1940-46, during World War II.
Before moving to the United States in 1947, he worked at an Ipswich school, preparing sports fields for the children.
He operated three garden nurseries and specialized in registered rhododendrons. He belonged to the Rhododendron Society on Harsten Island at Shelton,
Mr. Holden married Matilda Jane Holden in Bury St. Edmunds, England, on Oct. 21, 1944. She died in May 1997.
He married Dorothy Ann Colbert in Sequim on June 14, 1998.
Mr. Holden was a member of the United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include son Paul H. Holden; daughters and sons-in-law Carol and Harvey Graf of Shelton, and Eva and Weldon Sheldon of Sequim; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services: Saturday, Jan. 21, 2 p.m., memorial in Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., Sequim. A reception at the church will follow. The Rev. Earl Rice will officiate.
Olympic Cremation Association, Port Angeles, is in charge.

Charles Edward Pogatchnik
Dec. 2, 1935 -- Jan. 11, 2006
Former Port Angeles resident Charles Edward ``Chuck" Pogatchnik of Yakima died at age 70 of complications from kidney disease.
He was born in Albany, Minn., to Edward and Margaret (Moore) Pogatchnik and raised on a farm near St. Cloud, Minn.
He married Margaret Ann Vennekolt in Spokane on Sept. 3, 1967.
He was a loan officer for the Farmers Home Administration in Sequim in 1971 and Port Angeles in 1972-75.
Mr. Pogatchnik's survivors include his wife and daughter Jennifer Lemon, both of Spokane; sons Shawn Pogatchnik of Dublin, Ireland, and Chris Pogatchnik of Concord, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Services: No service. His ashes were transported to Ireland by son Shawn.
Keith & Keith Funeral Home, Yakima, was in charge of cremation

Ken B. Price
May 31, 1915 -- Jan. 17, 2006
Ken B. Price, 90, died in Port Angeles Care Center of age-related causes.
He was born to George Lloyd and Ada Rebecca (Beegle) Price in Bedford, Pa..
He graduated from Geneva High School, Geneva, Ohio, with the class of 1934.
He married Marjorie Haywood in 1935; they divorced in 1937.
He married Adel Rosenberg in Covington, Ky., on Oct. 22, 1938.
Mr. Price served with the Coast Guard in 1942-46 and with the Coast Guard Reserve in 1946-75, before retiring in 1975 as a chief petty officer.
Mr. Price was a lineman for Ohio Bell Telephone in 1940-47, after which he transferred to Pacific Telephone and Telegraph in Port Angeles. He retired in 1978.
While spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed telling stories about buildings he wired for phones -- including Olympic Memorial Hospital. He also enjoyed fishing.
Mr. Price was a member of Independent Bible Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, son Ken W. Price and son and daughter-in-law G. Brandon and Jackie Price, all of Port Angeles; son and daughter-in-law G. Mark and Debbie Price of Belgrade, Mont.; daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Van Robinson of Ruskin, Fla.; brother Carl Price of Crescent City, Calif.; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Kathryn Price.
Services: At his request, none. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
