Thomas C. Carrell
June 5, 1921 -- Dec. 19, 2005
Thomas C. Carrell died of a heart attack after surgery at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. He was 84.
Mr. Carrell was born to Tom and Flossie (Ramby) Carrell in Chicago, Ill. After his father's death, he was raised by his step-father, Harold Littlejohn, and mother.
Mr. Carrell graduated from high school in Port Angeles. He served in the Army in Europe during World War II.
He married Virginia Roe in Reno, Nev., on Feb. 7, 1959.
He drove log trucks in Raymond for Weyerhaeuser and Clevenger Trucking and Crown Zellerbach of Port Angeles, and drove the delivery truck at Dobson Auto Parts for nine years.
Mr. Carrell was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years; daughter Shirley Bardsly of Centralia; daughter and son-in-law Jan and Lloyd Ruegg of Port Angeles; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sons Dean Carrell and Don Graham, grandson Thomas Lee Schroeder, and sisters Murial and Etarae.
Services: Funeral service held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with Pastor Phil Ritter officiating. Interment at Mount Angeles cemetery.
Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements and cremation was by Mount Angeles Memorial Park.
Memorials: Seattle Heart & Vascular Institute, Swedish Medical Center, 747 Broadway, Seattle, WA 98122-4307.

Caroline E. Castle
Nov. 25, 1927 -- Dec. 29, 2005
Caroline E. Castle, 78, died in her Port Angeles home of age-related causes.
She was born in Port Angeles to Chester A. and Rose B. (Valentine) Fuller.
She married Ed Castle in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on April 28, 1962.
Mrs. Castle, who was a lifelong chef, moved to Arizona in 1968. After retirement, she and husband spent 15 years touring the country in their motor home before settling in Port Angeles in 2002.
She was a member of Moose and Elks.
Mrs. Castle's survivors include son Larry J. Masters of Bullhead City, Ariz.; daughter Sandra L. Tiller of Port Angeles; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Her husband died Feb. 26, 2004. She was also preceded in death by brother William Fuller and sister Edith Linguall.
Services: At her request, none. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials: Charity of choice.

Brian Corry
Oct. 4, 1954 -- Dec. 26, 2005
Brian Corry died of lung cancer at his Port Angeles home. He was 51.
Mr. Corry was born to Patrick and Phyllis (Dawley) Corry in Ballard.
He worked as a member of Local 32, Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, for 30 years.
Mr. Corry enjoyed singing and music.
Survivors include daughter Jennifer Giraud of Everett; daughters and sons-in-law Kera and Jon Bigham of Bothell and Kelli and Brandon Hamm of Port Angeles; brother Jon Corry of Lynnwood; sister Delores Thorner of Arlington; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Services: No services at his request. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gilbert A. `Bert' Freeman
Nov. 2, 1934 -- Dec. 23, 2005
Gilbert A. ``Bert" Freeman died from complications of prostate cancer in his Port Townsend home. He was 71.
He was born in Hollywood, Calif., to Willabald Hoffman and Genevieve Ruth (Hibler) Freeman and was raised in Southern California.
He served with the Air Force as a jet mechanic in 1952-56.
He married Janet R. Steele in Birmingham, Mich., on Aug. 23, 1958.
Mr. Freeman, who studied at Parks Aeronautical College, was a licensed aircraft and power plants mechanic as well as the holder of both private and commercial pilot's licenses.
He qualified as a certified flight instructor and certified flight instrument instructor.
Mr. Freeman formerly was employed by Southern California Edison, Pacific Power and Alaska Power and Telephone.
In addition to flying and sailing, he enjoyed Dixieland jazz and reading.
Mr. Freeman -- who was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Port Townsend Pilot Association and Elks -- attended St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Townsend.
Survivors include his wife at Cape George; son Charles Steele Freeman of Vancouver, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law Deborah ``Jean" and Russell Decker of Yuba City, Calif.; sister Jacque Sutphin of Vancouver, Wash.; and two grandsons.
Services: Open-hangar fly-in was held Dec. 29 at Jefferson County International Airport. Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials: ECHHO (Ecumenical Christian Helping Hands Organization), 1111 Franklin St., Port Townsend, WA 98368; or Jefferson Healthcare Hospice, 834 Sheridan St., Port Townsend, WA 98368. The family requests no flowers.

Richard Floyd Gossard
Oct. 1, 1935 -- Dec. 19, 2005
Richard Floyd Gossard of Puyallup, formerly of Port Angeles, died in Port Angeles of complications from pneumonia. He was 70.
Born in Port Angeles to Floyd E. and Evelyn (Masters) Gossard, he graduated from Port Angeles High School.
He was purser on the MV Coho ferry in 1959.
He then was a superintendent for Black Ball Freight Service in West Seattle and as a Seattle truck driver.
His professional memberships included Teamsters and Truck Instructors.
In Mr. Gossard's earlier years, he was a scoutmaster. He also enjoyed animals, golfing, fishing and flying.
He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, DeMolay, Eagles and Elks.
Mr. Gossard married Marianne Neer, the mother of his five children, on July 21, 1955. They divorced in November 1987.
He was married to the former Karin DeMers from October 1989 to October 2004 before they divorced.
Survivors include his special friend Joyce Johnson of Puyallup; son Daniel R. Gossard; and sons and daughters-in-law Scott R. and Jeanette Gossard, and James R. and Amy Gossard, all of Port Angeles, and Jeffrey R. and Marcia Gossard of Pullman.
He is also survived by daughter and son-in-law Lisa Marie and Darryl Silvers of West Seattle; brother Phillip Gossard of California; sister Elaine Wenholz of Anchorage, Alaska; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services: Jan. 21, 2 p.m., celebration of life at the Eagles club, 110 S. Penn St., Port Angeles. Cremation was by American Burial in Puyallup.
Memorials: Charity of choice.

Henry Harrison Heerschap
Dec. 2, 1930 -- Dec. 13, 2005
Former Port Angeles resident Henry Harrison ``Hank" Heerschap died in Seattle following a stroke. He was 75.
He was born in Croswell, Mich., to the Rev. Henry and Grace (Fehr) Heerschap.
Before coming to Port Angeles in 1980, he married his wife, Rosemary, served with the Army, where he did intelligence work in Germany, graduated from Whitworth College in Spokane; and received his master's degree in business administration from Northwestern University, Chicago.
Mr. Heerschap was involved in commercial real estate for most of his career. He left the Peninsula in 1988.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Henry and Lauren Heerschap; brother and sister-in-law Edward and Marianna Heerschap; sister Barbara Bracy; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Services: Wednesday, Jan. 4, 6 p.m., memorial in Green Lake Church, 6350 E. Green Lake Way N., Seattle; Friday, Jan. 6, 4 p.m., memorial in First Presbyterian Church, 216 K St., Hoquiam.
Bleitz Funeral Home, Seattle, is in charge.
Memorials: World Vision, P.O. Box 9716, Federal Way, WA 98063. The family requests no flowers.

Lillian G. Mast
June 28, 1917 -- Dec. 27, 2005
Lillian G. Mast of Sequim died in Port Angeles at age 88. Cause of death is pending.
Mrs. Mast was born to Joseph Ulric and Reina (Jalbert) Gosselin in St. Fortunate, Quebec.
She married Harry D. Mast in Bristol, Conn., on Dec. 18, 1958. He died April 21, 2000.
Mrs. Mast was a waitress for several years and lived in Essex Junction, Vt., Ramona, Calif., San Luis Obispo, Calif., Daytona, Fla., Nashua, N.H., and Biddeford, Maine, before moving to Sequim in 1981.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, ballroom dancing, traveling, and playing bridge.
Mrs. Mast was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Survivors include daughters Trudi Plourde of Port Angeles and Gloria O'Keefe of Milton, Fla.; stepdaughter Judie Rogers of Paso Robles, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by stepson James Miastowski, brother Leo Gosselin, and sister Oneda Palardy.
Services: Vigil at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple St., Sequim. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at St. Joseph's with the Rev. Thomas W. Beattie presiding.
Burial will be in Sequim View cemetery. Sequim Valley Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials: St. Joseph's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1209, Sequim, WA 98382.

Constance Sue DeRousie Meyers
Jan. 29, 1930 -- Dec. 24, 2005
Port Angeles resident Constance Sue DeRousie Meyers died in Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, of head injuries received in a fall. She was 75.
She was born in Astoria, Ore., to Otto Allen and Harriett Elizabeth ``Betty" (Longenbaugh) Sawalish.
She married Edwin Norman DeRousie in Port Angeles; they divorced after 25 years.
She later married Donald Meyers, who survives her.
Mrs. Meyers worked for Seattle First National Bank, Clallam County Courthouse and Schroeders Distributors.
She was a birdwatcher who enjoyed living on the Peninsula's waterfront and at Lake Sutherland, and wintering in Palm Springs, Calif.
Mrs. DeRousie was a member of PEO, Elks and Sequim Prairie Grange, and First Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband; sons Mark Allan DeRousie, Scott David DeRousie and Michael Vincent DeRousie; daughter Lisa Sue Carlson, sister Betty Bell ``Betsy" Early, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services: Saturday, Jan. 7, 2 p.m., celebration of life at the Elks Naval Lodge, 131 E. First St., Port Angeles.
Bleitz Funeral Home, Seattle, was in charge of cremation.
Memorials: Hospice of Clallam County, P.O. Box 2014, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
