Lee O. Swanberg
Feb. 19, 1913 -- Dec. 22, 2005
Sequim homemaker Lee O. Swanberg died in Port Angeles of colon cancer. She was 92.
She was born to Charles R. and Estella M. (Lee) Olson in Howard Lake, Minn.
She married Marvin LeRoy Swanberg in Howard Lake on April 7, 1934.
Mrs. Swanberg lived in Port Orchard for many years before she and her husband moved to Sequim. They maintained another residence in Yuma, Ariz.
She was an avid gardener and a member of the Garden Club. She also belonged to the Parent-Teachers Association, Eastern Star and Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 71 years; son and daughter-in-law Kit and Teri Swanberg of Sequim; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services: Inurnment in Sunset Lane cemetery, Port Orchard.
Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge.

Nell E. Teitzel
July 31, 1912 -- Dec. 23, 2005
Sequim resident Nell E. Teitzel, 93, died in Sequim of age-related causes.
She was born in Seattle to Wesley L. and Mabelle E. (Aubert) Sischo and graduated from Port Townsend High School before attending business college.
She married Fred G. Teitzel in Port Townsend on June 5, 1933.
After living in Port Townsend for many years, Mrs. Teitzel moved to Adelma Beach, then to Sequim.
She was employed as a secretary for the timber department of Crown Zellerbach from May 1951 until her retirement in 1969.
While attending Sequim Community Church, she maintained a prayer chain for 12 years. She also served as Worthy Matron of Eastern Star.
She enjoyed hiking in the Olympic Mountains and fishing in Eastern Washington as well as camping, taking her travel trailer to destinations in the Southwest.
Her friends Charlotte R. Reeves and Janet Reeves were her final caretakers.
Mrs. Teitzel's survivors include son and daughter-in-law Fred R. and Maria R. Teitzel of Burien; daughter Virginia Clocksin of Covington, La.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Her husband died Jan. 5, 2004, after 70 years of marriage.
Services: Funeral was held at First Presbyterian Church, Port Townsend. Inurnment was in Laurel Grove cemetery.
Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials: Donations are suggested to the ALS Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301-5104. The family requests no flowers.

Victor C. Walling Sr.
Sept. 19, 1915 -- Dec. 25, 2005
Port Angeles resident Victor C. Walling Sr. died of cancer at age 90.
He was born to Frank and Harriet (Joly) Walling in Dayton, Ohio.
He graduated from the University of Dayton in 1938 with a degree in chemical engineering, and first came to Seattle.
Mr. Walling joined Curtis-Wright Corp. in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1942, and was sent to Australia as a technical services representative with the Army Air Corps.
While in the South Pacific, he accompanied the troops' advance into the Philippines and witnessed the demise of the last P-40 Warhawk squadron in the Pacific Theater.
Returning to Seattle, Mr. Walling was employed by Mallinckrodt Chemical Works.
In 1957, he joined Virginia Chemicals, Inc., which built a manufacturing plant to make groundwood brightening chemicals in Kalama.
He retired in 1979 and moved to Port Angeles.
He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
When he built a house in the Joyce area, it included an extensive woodworking shop in which he repaired furniture donated to St. Vincent De Paul Society.
He married Mary Frances Hirt in 1944 in Phoenix, Ariz. She died in 1989.
He married Bette J. Allin in 1992.
In addition to his wife, survivors include sons Victor Walling Jr. of California and Mark Walling of Tennessee; daughter Mary F. Anderson of Bothell; brother Robert Walling of Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son Paul Walling.
Services: Wednesday, Jan. 4, 7 p.m., rosary in Queen of Angels Catholic Church 201 W. 11th St., Port Angeles.
Funeral Mass on Friday, Jan. 6, 11 a.m., in Queen of Angels with the Rev. Kurt Nagle celebrating.

VICTOR WRIGHT OVERSTREET
Victor Wright Overstreet passed away peacefully at Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland, Wash., on December 19, 2005, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on September 19, 1913, in Swofford Valley, Wash., one of seven boys, all now deceased.
His parents were Elisha David Overstreet and Adossa Starr Wright from Virginia.
He was married for 69 years to his high school sweetheart, Alice Adene Buntain. They raised four wonderful children, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Vic received his bachelor's degree from Central Washington University, a master's degree from Western Washington University, and pursued advanced study in counseling and guidance at Assumption College in Massachusetts.
He was a dedicated educator, counselor and an active member of every community where he lived, including Mossyrock, Coulee Dam, Port Angeles and Centralia.
Vic had a unique talent for helping young people realize their hopes and dreams; he inspired many to seek their full potential.
He was a caring, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
At Vic's request, he will be laid to rest at a private graveside service at the Swofford Valley cemetery.
The family wishes to invite family, friends and community to attend a memorial service for Vic on January 7, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Cooks Hill Community Church, 2400 Cooks Hill Road, Centralia, WA 98531.

Perry Charles Bolster Jr.
June 24, 1924 -- Dec. 27, 2005
Sequim resident Perry Charles Bolster Jr. died in Port Angeles of a stroke at age 81.
He was born in Seattle to Perry Charles and Bessie (Leighton) Bolster Sr., and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Port Angeles.
He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton before enlisting in the Navy.
He had World War II service as an aviation machinist's mate and petty officer second class.
Mr. Bolster owned Lake Sutherland Resort in Clallam County, then owned and operated Bolster (Commercial) Refrigeration and Bolster Construction on Thetis Island, British Columbia.
He also owned Americus Realty in Sequim and was a Realtor for 26 years.
Mr. Bolster -- who was a member of the Washington Realtors Association, National Rifle Association and John Birch Society -- was an active member of Sequim Valley Foursquare Church.
In addition to spending time with his family, his pastimes included, boating and scuba diving, fishing, hunting, hiking, camping and woodworking,
Mr. Bolster was divorced from his first wife, the former Lorraine Hilden, and was a widower after the 1958 death of his second wife, the former Clara ``Tootie" Rushton, in Saipan.
He married Carol Durham in Port Angeles on May 1, 1959.
In addition to his wife, survivors include sons Steve Bolster of Renton, Brad Bolster of Sequim and Dan Bolster of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters Carole Worland of Seattle and Dollie Bolster of Sequim; brother Ken Bolster of Thetis Island, British Columbia; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son Randy Bolster
Services: Saturday, Dec. 31, 1 p.m., memorial in Sequim Valley Foursquare Church, 9090 Old Olympic Highway. The Rev. Randy Hurlbut will officiate. A reception at the church will follow the service.
Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.

June Merscher Giffin
Oct. 17, 1914 -- Dec. 14, 2005
Sequim resident June Merscher Giffin, 91, died in Olympic Medical Center, Port Angeles, of age-related causes.
She was born in Albany, N.Y., to Harry and Anna Prudence Irving, and attended Beaver College, Glenside, N.Y.
She was widowed following each of her marriages in the 1980s, first to John Mercher, then to Robert Giffin.
Mrs. Giffin, who was a retired schoolteacher, was also an accomplished organist who played at many Sequim and Port Angeles churches.
In addition to being an enthusiastic Cary Grant fan and avid reader, she enjoyed baking.
While noted for knitting purple sweaters to wear herself, she also knit hats, through Stitches From The Heart, for premature babies
Mrs. Giffin is survived by three of her four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services: To be announced. Olympic Cremation Association, Port Angeles, was in charge of cremation.
Memorials: Hospice of Clallam County, P.O. Box 2014, Port Angeles, WA 98362.

Stephen Robert Vorous
Aug. 3, 1953 -- Dec. 13, 2005
Stephen Robert Vorous, former assistant administrative officer of Olympic Memorial Hospital, now Olympic Medical Center, in Port Angeles, died in Sacramento, Calif., of lung cancer. He was 52.
He was born to Edward J. and Barbara Jane (Buckingham) Vorous in Sacramento.
He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from California State University, Sacramento; and master's degree in business administration from City University, Seattle.
Mr. Vorous was a certified public accountant in both California and Washington.
He was assistant administrator of Olympic Memorial Hospital from 1981 to 1991.
He won numerous awards showing his Sealyham terriers and as a home vintner.
He belonged to the Porsche 356 Club, enjoyed sports including marathon running, cycling, sailing, snowskiing and fly fishing, donated many hours to helping nonprofits for battered women, and toured the United States with the Young Life musicians of Warehouse Ministries.
He married Suzanne Hartley Hill in Sacramento in September 2001.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Mel Schroeder, and mother-in-law, Carol Preszler; daughters Jeanette and Alanna Vorous; and stepdaughters Sarah and Gaela Mitchell, all of Sacramento, Calif.
Also surviving are sisters and brothers-in-law Karen and George Earwaker of Falls Church, Va., and Anita and Bill Shaw of Port Angeles; brother and sister-in-law Gary and Barbara Vorous of Gig Harbor; and brother Edward F. Vorous of San Rafael, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services: Tuesday, Jan. 3, 11 a.m., memorial at Sierra Health Foundation, 1321 Garden Highway, Sacramento, Calif.
East Lawn Mortuary of Sacramento is in charge of arrangements.
