Leora Jean Krnoull
June 2, 1921 -- Aug. 21, 2005
Port Angeles resident Leora Jean Krnoull died at age 84 of chronic obstructive lung disease.
She was born in Chicago to Lee and Mildred (Schaffer) Flannery.
She married Jack Krnoull on Feb. 27, 1966. They were later divorced.
Mrs. Krnoull was a housewife who also helped her husband on their farm.
She enjoyed listening to the radio, watching old movies and reading.
Survivors include her former husband; son Charles Brink of Sequim; sons and daughters-in-law Ray and Cindy Gallinger of Sequim and Tim and Vanessa Gallinger of Seattle; daughter Charlene Casady of Olympia; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by brother Robert Cox and sister Bonnie Holoboski.
Services: Friday, Aug. 26, 1 p.m., graveside service in Sequim View cemetery. A reception will follow at the home of Ray Gallinger. Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials: Boys & Girls Club of Sequim, 400 W. Fir St., Sequim, WA 98382.

Edith Mueller
March 4, 1917 -- Aug. 14, 2005
Sequim resident Edith Mueller died in Crestwood Convalescent Center, Port Angeles, of pneumonia. She was 88.
She was born in Berlin to Ernst and Anna (Wieschnefski) Stridde.
She married Horst Mueller on March 4, 1942, in Tilsit, East Prussia.
In addition to Berlin, Mrs. Mueller lived in Anchorage, Alaska; Barstow, Calif.; Washington, D.C.; Niagara Falls, N.Y.; and Sarnia, Ontario.
She was a bank supervisor for many years and was a member of the Arion Singing Society. She also enjoyed flower gardening.
Mrs. Mueller is survived by son Frederick Mueller of Germany and daughter Heidi Harrenstein of Sequim.
Her husband died in 1984.
Services: Private inurnment in Dungeness cemetery. Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Blodget Stewart
April 8, 1918 -- Aug. 21, 2005
Robert Blodget Stewart of Sequim died of prostate cancer at age 87.
He was born in Philadelphia to Stanley Paul and Anna (Blodget) Stewart.
He graduated from Oregon State University as a chemical engineer in 1942, and served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Stewart worked for Dow Corning Co. as a chemical engineer.
He lived in Littleton, Calif., and Orinda, Calif., for many years before retiring to Sequim.
His memberships included St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Military Officers Association of America, and SunLand Golf and Country Club.
Mr. Stewart married Frances Jacobson in 1943. She preceded him in death.
He married Dorthea Bernsdorf on July 10, 1993.
In addition to his wife, survivors include son and daughter-in-law Robert and Robin Stewart Jr. of Castle Rock, Ore.; son Greg Stewart of Santa Cruz, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Dennis Mallicoat of Sterling, Ill.; brother and sister-in-law Warren and Ruby Stewart of Kent; twin brother Walter and wife Dottie Stewart of Franklin, Tenn.; sisters Diantha Willmer of Seattle and Ardis Snitzler of South Colby; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services: Saturday, Aug. 27, 3 p.m., memorial in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim, with the Revs. Robert Rhoades and Bill Sell-Lee officiating. A reception will follow.
On Monday, Aug. 29, 1 p.m., burial in Sedgwick cemetery, Southworth. Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials: St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim, WA 98382.

WILDA M. McANINCH
Wilda M. McAninch, age 79, died peacefully at her home in Everett, Washington, on August 21, 2005.
She was born November 15, 1925, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Arthur Earl Dimmitt and Leota Dimmitt.
Wilda grew up in Sandpoint, Idaho, where she met and married Fred William Doty. They had two children, Steven William Doty and Vicki Ann (Doty) Williams.
In 1952, the family moved to Port Angeles, Washington, where Fred was the ice cream maker/manager of the Darigold Creamery.
Wilda worked at the Clallam County Courthouse where she served as Clallam County Clerk for several years.
Fred preceded her in death in July 1972.
Wilda loved to travel and read, and was an avid baseball fan.
She is survived by her husband, Richard L. McAninch, whom she married in May 1990, and by her two children, Steve W. Doty of Mount Vernon, Washington, and Vicki A. (Doty) Williams of Kingston, Washington.
Wilda is also survived by five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many dear friends.
Wilda has two brothers, Ivan Dimmitt and Leo Dimmitt, and three sisters, Jean McCaben, Jo Connors and Audrey Gould (deceased).
At the family's request, no funeral services will be held. However, there will be a memorial service and celebration of her life on Friday, August 26th, at His Place Church in Mount Vernon, Washington, at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Foundation in Wilda's memory.

Charlotte I. Cronholm
Dec. 20, 1917 -- Aug. 20, 2005
Sequim resident Charlotte I. Cronholm, 87, died of age-related causes.
She was born in North Tarrytown, N.Y., to Charles and Louise (Garbade) Seifert.
She was married to Fredric P. Cronholm.
Mrs. Cronholm lived in California, Australia and Africa before retiring to Sequim, where she devoted many volunteer hours to the Sequim-Dungeness Hospital Guild.
She was also an artist and a solo vocalist in her church's choir for many years.
Mrs. Cronholm was a Lady Elk at the Sequim Elks Lodge.
Survivors include son Fredric C. Cronholm of Beaumont, Calif.; brother Chet Seifert of Palm Harbor, Fla.; sister Elizabeth Herlihy of Clearwater, Fla.; one grandchild and six great-grandchildren.
Her husband died Aug. 10, 1985, and her daughter, Shirley Jean Cronholm, died at age 3.
Services: Friday, Aug. 26, 10 a.m., memorial in Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel, 108 W. Alder St., Sequim.
Memorials: American Cancer Society, Great West Division, P.O. Box 19170, Seattle, WA 98109; National Breast Cancer Research Center, P.O. Box 96676, Washington, D.C. 20090. The family requests no flowers.

Orval Lenard `Sonny' Howe
July 23, 1931 -- Aug. 18, 2005
Lifelong Peninsula resident Orval Lenard ``Sonny" Howe died in his Port Angeles home of congestive heart failure at age 74.
He was born in Sequim to Orval Lenard and Lois Edna (Montaney) Howe.
He served in the Navy in 1949-52 -- in Korea, China and Japan -- and attained the rank of petty officer second class.
Mr. Howe's career was in Olympic Peninsula logging until an accident in the woods forced him to seek less dangerous work.
He retrained as a licensed practical nurse at Peninsula College and worked at Olympic Memorial Hospital -- now Olympic Medical Center -- until his retirement.
Gardening, cooking and living on Sequim Bay were among his personal interests. He also enjoyed playing cribbage and watching reruns of the movie ``Groundhog Day."
Mr. Howe married Barbara Jean McDonald in Sequim on May 24, 1954. They divorced in 1975.
He married Kathleen Morgan in Port Angeles on Dec. 11, 1981.
In addition to his wife, survivors include son and daughter-in-law Steven and Andrea Howe of Blyn; son Kurt Howe of Forks; stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law Bob Morgan and Nancy Bell of China and Tim and Toni Morgan of California; stepson Dan Morgan of California; daughter Nicola Griswold of Port Angeles; stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law Kelly and Roger German and Kathy and Bill Sutherland, all of Sequim; stepdaughter Kerry Becker of Port Angeles; brothers Norval ``Bud" Howe of Auburn and Oliver Howe of Long Beach; sisters Pearl Snyder of California and Lelah Stam of Auburn; 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother Marion Howe and sisters Edna Leaming, Bea Blackwood and Alta Woodard.
Services: At his request, none. Private inurnment will be in Blyn cemetery. Drennan-Ford Funeral Home, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials: Hospice of Clallam County, P.O. Box 2014, Port Angeles, WA 98362.

Nancy D. Peden
Sept. 9, 1938 -- Aug. 18, 2005
Port Ludlow resident Nancy D. Peden died in Swedish Medical Center, Seattle, after a 13-year struggle with cancer. She was 66.
She was born in North Dakota to Clarence and Mary Ellen (Bartley) Stadic and moved to Washington while still a child.
She received bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from University of Washington, after which she completed all the requirement toward a doctorate, except her dissertation, at the University of Tennessee.
She was a counselor, senior center director. college-level teacher and volunteer with the Port Townsend Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Program.
She married Robert G. ``Bob" Peden, who survives her at the family home.
Other survivors include son Kirk Copeland of North Bend; daughter and son-in-law Lori and Michael Read of Issaquah; her mother of Preston; brother and sister-in-law Ron and Marlene Stadic of Sammamish; brother Doug Stadic of Salem, Ore.; sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Joe Meadows of Bear Creek; sister Kay Stadic of Preston; and five grandchildren.
Services: Saturday, Aug. 27, 2 p.m., celebration of life in First Presbyterian Church, 1111 Franklin St., Port Townsend. The Rev. Robert E. Slater will officiate.
A reception in the church will follow the service.

Vic Porter
Dec. 1, 1946 -- Aug. 20, 2005
Port Townsend resident Vic Porter, 58, drowned while scuba diving off Cape Flattery.
He was born in Lansing, Mich., to Richard Stanley and Patricia Ann (Foster) Porter.
He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University in 1968, then added his secondary education certification for teaching math and science at the University of Iowa in 1973.
Mr. Porter married Maria Tinley in Harbor Springs, Mich., on June 19, 1993.
He was employed as an engineer at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for several years before deciding to pursue teaching credentials.
Mr. Porter was a teacher and basketball coach in the school systems in Omaha, Neb.; Flint and Lansing, Mich.; Sacramento, Calif.; and Chimacum.
In addition to scuba diving, he enjoyed crabbing, kayaking, sailing, biking and skiing.
He is survived by his wife in Port Townsend and brother and sister-in-law Rick and Carmel Porter of Michigan.
Services: Saturday, Aug. 27, 2 p.m., memorial in Chimacum High School gymnasium, 91 West Valley Road, Chimacum.
On Sunday, Aug. 28, noon, a remembrance potluck in Cape George Club House, 61 Cape George Drive, Port Townsend.
His ashes will be scattered at sea by his family at 2 p.m. The Rev. John Topal of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Port Townsend, will preside.
Kosec Funeral Home, Port Townsend, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials: Vic Porter Memorial Fund, c/o Chimacum High School, 91 West Valley Road, Chimacum, WA 98325.
