MARILYN GRACE WILSON

July 17, 1932 -- Nov. 8, 2003

A gracious wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother died of cancer Saturday at Olympic Medical Center surrounded by her devoted family.

Marilyn Grace Fiddler was born on the farm of second-generation Sequim pioneer parents, William Merton and Margaret Kathleen (Glieck) Fiddler.

She was a contributing resident of Clallam County all of her life.

Her happy childhood centered around strong faith and family.

Among her fondest memories were of going to camp revival meetings with her family.

During her teens, Marilyn, her brother and sisters were all in school band and played at church youth activities.

For two years, she was an Irrigation Festival Princess.

She graduated from Sequim High School in 1950.

After her 1951 marriage to Bob Wade Moe (from whom she was divorced in 1976), Marilyn became a full-time homemaker and mother.

Her four offspring remember Mom teaching Sunday School and being the most enthusiastic supporter of all their activities, especially as ``official photographer" taking team photos.

In 1979, Marilyn and ``Monty" Wilson were married in Port Angeles. Marilyn began her career as a teller at the Bank of Sequim, and she spent 19 years cashiering at Swain's before buying her own business, M&M Spas, which she operated until retiring in 1993.

Marilyn's customers often became friends, some recognizing her years later in faraway places.

For instance: On a boat to mainland China, another passenger asked, ``Didn't you use to work at Swain's in Port Angeles?"

After her ``retirement, " Marilyn remained active on the executive board of Olympic Memorial Hospital and as a Pink Lady in the Gift Shop, and she volunteered for a variety of programs and events at Independent Bible Church and as a member of the Christian Women's Club.

Another of Marilyn's passions was ``collecting." Her family says, ``Mom saved everything."

Items from her parents and grandparents as well as those of her children have been preserved for them.

This led to yet another career -- maintaining a booth at Far Horizons Antique Mall.

Marilyn also helped with her daughter Doreen's Estate and Antique Sales business.

Marilyn's survivors will deeply miss her soft-spoken manner, contagious chuckle and her beautiful smile: husband Monty; son John Moe and wife Heidi; daughters Dianna Buno, Judy McDonald and Doreen Bruch; stepdaughters Diane Greathouse, Jeanne Kalmingk and Julie Craken; grandchildren Carly Jane, Haley Grace and Brooke Elkhart, Sherman and Shauna Buno, Kaleb and Adam Bruch, Gordon McDonald, Melissa (McDonald) and husband Brant Miles; brother Eugene Richard Fiddler; sisters, Billy Jean Emory and Dorothy Louise McComb; and great-grandchildren Jacob, Briana and Ana Miles and Jaden Elkhart.

Services: Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel, 105 W. Fourth St., Port Angeles, Wednesday, Nov. 12th. Funeral, 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in Independent Bible Church Worship Center, 116 Ahlvers Road, Port Angeles.

Pastor Mike Jones will officiate.

Burial in Sequim View cemetery.

Memorials may be sent in Marilyn's name to Hospice of Clallam County, P.O. Box 2014, Port Angeles, WA 98362, or Benevolence Fund, Independent Bible Church, 116 Ahlvers Road, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
