James A. Knors
TOWN OF GENESEE - James A. Knors, 72, died peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000. He was born in Racine on July 25, 1928, to Frank X. and Maria (nee Henneke) Knors. Mr. Knors proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. On Oct. 21, 1950, he married the former Joan C. Smith in Racine. He was employed at Tecumseh as an engineer.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Joan of the town of Genesee, and their three children, Linda L. Knors of Milwaukee, Randy (Marilyn) Knors of Detroit and Brian Knors of North Prairie; and six grandchildren, Melissa, Nicholas, Gregory, Jeremy, Mercedes and Noah. He is further survived by two brothers, Carl (Vi) Knors of New York and Joseph (Rocky) Knors of Racine; two sisters, Rosemary (Jerry) Spear and Charlotte (James) Sheffield, both of California; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Robert Ohlwieler, and his granddaughter, Christina Gibbs.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Genesee Depot. Interment will take place at St. Paul’s cemetery in Genesee.

Delores D. Pelzek
MUSKEGO - Delores D. Pelzek (nee Blawat), 79, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000.

She was the beloved wife of the late Harry; dearest sister of the late Raymond (Irene) Blawat and Daniel (Jeanette) Blawat; and dearest aunt of Judith (Paul) Kovacik, LeRoy (Joan) Blawat, Bruce (Linda) Blawat, Michael (Annamarie) Blawat, Patricia (Donald) Timdal, Robert (Claudia) Pelzek, Victoria (Michael) Tarby and Heidi Sikorski. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix "Phil" and Anna.

Delores was the current president of the Waukesha County Metro Senior Citizens and devoted her time to helping people.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, Oct. 26, at the Max A. Sass & Sons Westwood Chapel, W173-S7629 Westwood Drive, Muskego; a prayer vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, with a processional from the funeral home to St. Leonard Church for the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Entombment will be at St. Adalbert cemetery.

Evelyn M. Pilon
WAUKESHA - Evelyn M. Pilon, 86, passed peacefully into eternal life Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born in Schaffer, Mich., on July 8, 1914, to Eugene and Mary Louise (nee Nantelle) Gagnon. She was employed at Langlade County Memorial Hospital from 1952 until her retirement in 1976, where she was in charge of the newborns and saw many generations of Antigo babies born into the world. She was a former member of St. John’s Altar Society, Christian Mother’s Society, Catholic Order of Foresters and St. John’s Catholic Church in Antigo. On Dec. 5, 1933, she married Arthur J. Pilon; he preceded her in death in 1983. She then moved to Waukesha where she became a member of St. William Catholic Church.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Miriam (Robert) Lenzner of Tucson, Ariz., Harlan (Lynda) Pilon of Waukesha and Bonita (Dr. James) Lohman of Tucson; her daughter-in-law, Carol Stevenson of Waukesha; her son-in-law, George Haase of Hubertus; 12 grandchildren, Roberta Lenzner of Tucson, Scott (Renee) Lenzner of Hartland, Kelly (Joanne) Lenzner of Tucson, Kim (Dave) Vaughn of Waukesha, Renee (Ronald) Jaynes of Waukesha, Barbara (Stephen) Weytens of Waukesha, Tina Watts of Texas, Kevin (Linda) Pilon of Decatur, Ill., Tanya (Bill) Casper of Port Washington, Rebecca Lohman, Elizabeth Lohman and Sara Lohman, all of Tucson; and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Marvin Pilon, in 1969; her daughter, Sheila Haase in 1995; her brothers, Eney, Henry, Waldon, Thomas, Romeo, Lordie, John and Gordon Gagnon; and her sister, Blanche Aylward and Violet Probst.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Services continue on Friday, Oct. 27, at the funeral home with prayers at 10:30 a.m.,and then to St. William Catholic Church for the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Elmwood cemetery in Antigo. Father Mark Payne is officiating.

Memorials may be made for Masses in Evelyn’s name at St. William Catholic Church.

Marie J. Martin
WAUKESHA - Waukesha resident Marie J. Martin, 88, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Bel Air Health Care Center in Milwaukee. She was born on May 6, 1912, in Chicago to Joseph and Marie (nee Krejci) Novak.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Lyn Robinson of Pewaukee. She was the dear grandmother of Carrie (Richard) Sindorf of Waukesha, Debbie Robinson of Delafield and Jodi (Kyn) Anthony of Oshkosh; and beloved great-grandmother of Alexander and Josephine Sindorf. She is further survived by her sister, Clare (James) Sneberger of Barrington, Ill.; her niece, Judy; her nephew, Alan; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allan, on Jan. 29, 1985; her brother, Robert Novak; and her sister, Elinore Stipek.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service on Thursday, Nov. 2, at St. William Catholic Church. Father Mark Payne will officiate.

Memorials to Shriners Children’s Hospital are appreciated.

Sadie Miller
WAUKESHA - Sadie M. Miller, 98, of Waukesha, died Sunday Oct. 22, 2000, at the Waters of Westmoreland. She was born Dec. 11, 1901, in Indiana to Louis and Christina (nee Baurley) Maschino. In 1922, she married Leo J. Miller; he preceded her in death. Mrs. Miller was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she was active in Christian Mothers and St. Mary’s Seniors.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Joan (Ralph) Nilsen of Richmond, Tex.; Martha Roso of Louisville, Ky., Patricia (Raymond) Float of Nekoosa and Karen (Gerald) Mueller of Milwaukee. She is also survived by two sisters, Mable Elsner and Josephine Schumaker; 27 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Rosemary Miller of Fort Meyer, Fla.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her children, Robert Miller, Thelma Hathaway, Raymond Miller, Henry Miller, Edwin Miller and Shirley Miller, daughter-in-law, Bette Miller, and son-in-law, Julius Roso.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, Oct. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, at the corner of Hartwell and Newhall avenues. The Rev. Brian Mason will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Joseph cemetery.

Lois Ann ‘Lu Lu Belle’ Houk
RACINE - Lois Ann "Lu Lu Belle" Houk died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000. She was born Jan. 19, 1944, the daughter of the late Charles F. and Irma M. (nee Rosing) Blankley in Kenosha. Lois lived in Kenosha until 1983.

In 1953, she entered Holy Rosary Elementary School as a fourth-grade student, the first year the school opened. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1962. She began working at Lepp’s Clothing Store during high school and continued there for many years.

In 1976, Lois began working at Southern Wisconsin Center and continued there for 23 years until her retirement in January 1999. In 1983, in Racine, she was united in marriage to Dennis M. Houk. She was a resident of Racine (town of Mt. Pleasant) until her death. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She was an active member of the Belle City Clown Club of Racine, participating in the 4th of July parade and bell ringing for the Salvation Army at Christmastime in Racine. Her clown name was "Lu Lu Belle." Lois was a long-time Cubs fan and a Green Bay Packer fan. Her favorite holiday was Halloween as evidenced by the many decorations she put up and costumes she made for herself and her family. She was at her best at this time of year.

Lois was an accomplished seamstress, making the clown costumes she and her husband wore; and every member of her family and many others can attest that she could mend a pair of jeans like no one else.

Lois is survived by her husband, Dennis; a son, James "Pickle" Wilke of Panama City, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Anne (Louis) Savaglio of Beloit; a stepson, Joseph (Sarah) Houk of Pewaukee; three grandchildren: Ashley, Brittany and Adam Wilke of Portales, N.M. She is also survived by five brothers, J. Thomas (Catherine) Blankley, Charles Blankley Jr., Bruce Blankley and Giles Blankley, all of Kenosha, and Philip (Shirley) Blankley of Alsip, Ill. Other survivors include brother-in-laws Kenneth Weiss of Waukesha and James (Cheryl) Houk of Oconomowoc; sister-in-laws Marian (James) Pastors of West Bend and Lois Ann (Ralph) Quinney of Ripon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, Lois was also preceded in death by her sister, Lynn M. Blankley-Weiss in 1975.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 5700 Washington Ave. The Rev. Paul Esser will officiate. Interment will follow at Holy Family cemetery, Highway 31. Visitation will be held at the Maresh-Meredith and Acklam Funeral Home, 803 Main St., Racine, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Memorials to Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee or to the Salvation Army have been suggested.

A very special thank you to Covenant Hospice for their loving care and compassion given to Lois during her time of illness.

Bill A. Tiegs
MILWAUKEE - Bill A. Tiegs, 65, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000. He was born Feb. 10, 1935, in Waukesha.

Bill was the loving husband of Dolores (nee Grinwald). He was the loving daddy of Monica (Roy) Livingstone and his remaining children. He was the beloved brother of Donald (Shirley), Audrey Johnson and Bonnie. He was the dearest uncle of Don Jr. (Jessi). He is further survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Private family services were held.

Victor E. Hoard
DEFOREST - Victor E. Hoard was born to eternal life on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000. He was born Sept. 26, 1943, in Sand Creek to Lila and Millard Hoard.

He was preceded in death by his father, Millard, his brother, Charles, and his father-in-law, Reuben Mindemann of Sussex.

Victor is survived by his wife, Pamela (nee Mindemann) and his daughter Christine Anne Hoard of DeForest. He is also survived by his mother, Lila (nee Compeau) of Eustis, Fla., his brothers, Jim (Mary) of Bloomington, Minn., and Jack (Carolyn) of Kittaning, Pa. He has 23 nieces and nephews.

Vic served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years including three tours in Vietnam, where he was part of the Riverine Boat Forces (Stabs). After he left the Navy, he settled back in Eau Claire. Victor worked as a drug/alcohol counselor for 21 years, most recently at the William S. Middleton Veterans Administration Hospital in Madison. He has been an active member of NAADAC as well as an officer.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Redeemer United Church of Christ, W220-N4915 Town Line Road, Sussex. Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Memorials may be given to the family.

Carol J. ‘Carl’ Thurston
EAGLE - Carol J. "Carl" Thurston, 80, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 19, 1920, in Stevens Point to Ernest and Elsie (McKenzie)Thurston. He was retired from Waukesha Motor Co. and a veteran of the U.S. Army , who served in World War II. He and his wife, Eris, owned and operated Thurston Shoe Repair in Eagle for many years.

He is survived by his wife Eris (nee Stebe). They were married Dec. 26, 1944 in Marshfield. He is further survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dean, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at Mealy's Funeral Home in Eagle. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. until the time of the services at 8 p.m. The Rev. William Humthreys will officiate. Entombment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Memorials to the Eagle Historical Society are appreciated.

Michael ‘Mike’ Paul Rucinski
PEWAUKEE - Michael "Mike" Paul Rucinski died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at River Hills Health Care Center-West at the age of 91. He was born in Norway, Mich., on Jan. 16, 1909, the son of Albert and Mary (Tomasoski) Rucinski. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and worked for General Castings for more than 25 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; his son, Dennis; and his great-grandson, Dylan.

Mike will be very deeply missed as a loving father of L. Dale (Diane) of Waukesha, Doris (Fred) Ferguson of California, Shelby (Frank) Hemauer of Dousman and Marlene Rucinski of Green Bay. He was the loving grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.

The funeral service for Mike will be held at 6:30 p.m. today, Oct. 19, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Boulevard. The Rev. Frank Gaylord will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service Thursday. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin.

The family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation for the wonderful care and friendships Mike experienced while at River Hills Health Care Center-West.

Marcus J. Schmerbauch
GREENFIELD - Marcus J. Schmerbauch, 81, came to rest in God's loving hands Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000.

He is lovingly survived by his beloved wife Dolores (nee Strelka). He was the loving father of Philip (Marie), Mark (Mary) and Roger (Dona) and the cherished grandfather of Rebecca, Michele and Matthew. He is further survived by eight brothers, five sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marc was a retiree of Square D, past president of Holy Name Society for St. Leonard’s Catholic Church, past Grand Knight of Council 6448 and a veteran of foreign wars.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church, W173-S7743 Westwood Drive. Entombment will be at Holy Cross cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the funeral home, with an 8 p.m. vigil.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Make-A-Wish Foundation are appreciated.

Letha C. Jackson
NEW BERLIN - Letha C. Jackson (nee Wright) of New Berlin was born to eternal life Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph M.

She was the dear mother of Kathryn, Joseph Ray (Debbie), Linda (Scott) Crandall, Gladys Doerr, Novella Judy, Juanita Faye (Joe) Gagliano, Ginger (Ron) Rebatzke, Ida (Bill) Gruetzmacher, the late Jeanie Thomas and the late James R. (Lois); and the proud grandmother of 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Larsen Bros. New Berlin Chapel, 15250 W. National Ave. A second visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 13200 W. Greenfield Ave. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.

George M. Heinzelman
HARTLAND - George M. Heinzelman, of Hartland, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, at the age of 86.

George was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church of Hartland, a charter member of the Marshall-Johnson VFW Post 5158 in Hartland and a Volunteer Hartland Fireman for 45 years, retiring as assistant chief. He was in the Army Air Corps for three years and worked at the Hartland Post Office for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene (nee Peterson); his sons, Jack (Susan) of Tomah and Jim of Hartland; his grandsons, Jay (Lynne) and Peter; and his great-grandson, Charles. He is further survived by his sister, Agnes Rice of East Troy; nieces, a nephew and many friends.

Funeral services for George will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Luko-Evert Funeral Home, 170 Warren Ave., Hartland. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Burial will be at Hartland Village cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Dorothy E. Mutch
WAUKESHA - Dorothy E. Mutch (nee Barkow), lifelong resident of Waukesha, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2000, at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David W. Mutch, and her sister, Ethel S. Gagan.

She was the loving aunt of Nancy (Ron) Abrahamson of Waukesha, Marion (Martin) Dwarkin of Silver Spring, Md., Bill (Claire) Gagan of Fletcher, N.C., Dr. Richard (Sara) Gagan of Tampa, Fla., Enid (Earl) Mellen of Richland Center and Rosemarie (Robert) Carthew of Palmyra, N.Y. She was the dear great aunt of Chris (Laurie) Abrahamson, Ann Abrahamson, Tim (Laura) Abrahamson, Carrie LaBrie, Marion (Gene) Piscatelli, Pattty Pieper, Rick Gagan, Jennifer (Dr. Robert) Buckmire, Robert Dwarkin, Michael (Debbie) Gagan, Kathleen (Walter) Hawes and Robert Gagan. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was a member of the Eastern Star Ina J. Reid Chapter, where she held many offices including Worthy Matron. She worked as an office manager at Ryerson Steel in West Allis for 42 years, was a member of the Quarter Century Club and a member of the Friendly Folks Club at the YWCA.

Dorothy was a 1920 valedictorian graduate of Waukesha High School and a Golden Pioneer of Carroll College ,class of 1924. She was also an avid bowler.

Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at the First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Prairie Home cemetery.

Church and Chapel Funeral Service, 549-0659, is serving the family.
