Clyde W. Brisk
WAUKESHA - Lifelong Waukesha resident Clyde W. Brisk, 82, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 14, 1917, to the late Roy and Emma (nee Schultz) Brisk. Mr. Brisk was employed at Waukesha Cutting Tools for 45 years where he was the manager of manufacturing engineering. Since 1939 he has been a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Mr. Brisk enjoyed woodworking, making many birdhouses, whirlygigs and numerous "treasures" for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid gardener and loved caring for flowers and the raspberries in his yard.

He is loved and will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Gladys (nee Torrison), whom he married on June 26, 1939. Together they raised two sons, David (Geraldine) Brisk and Thomas (Martha) Brisk, both of Waukesha. He is the proud grandfather of Lee (Cathleen) Brisk of Waukesha, Gina Brisk of Sullivan, Ben Brisk, Becky Brisk and Brian Brisk, all of Waukesha; and great-grandpa of Alison, Tara and Cole. He is further survived by his sister, Jean Mundt of Waukesha; three sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Brisk, Sigrid Abbott and Ernestine Wegner, all of Waukesha; and a brother-in-law, Ben (Nina) Torrison of Bradenton, Fla. He is further survived by nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Brisk. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Services will continue on Wednesday, Oct. 11, with a second visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, and then to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church for the funeral service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Rod Resheske is officiating. Entombment will take place at Prairie Home cemetery.

We would like to thank the Waukesha Paramedics and EMTs for their prompt response and the kind way they and the staff at Waukesha Memorial Hospital Emergency room treated our family.

Margaret M. ‘Peggy’ Riesch
WAUKESHA - Margaret M. "Peggy" Riesch, 83, of Waukesha, formerly of Menomonee Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at LindenGrove Health Center in Menomonee Falls.

Peggy was born on Feb. 25, 1917, in Milwaukee, daughter of Jack and Esther (nee Mayer) Colwell. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waukesha and was a former member of St. Mary’s Church in Menomonee Falls. Peggy was a former member and past president of the Menomonee Falls Chapter of the Inner Wheel.

Peggy was an artist. She painted and collected beautiful pieces of art. Peggy loved to travel, she loved her trips to Ireland. She loved the beauty of the Grand Teton Mountains, which were the subject of many of her paintings.

Funeral services for Peggy will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., with the Rev. Brian Mason officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church.

If desired, memorials in Peggy’s memory may be directed to the Bryon Riesch Paralysis Charitable Foundation.

Beryl Bankert
WAUKESHA - Beryl Bankert of Waukesha died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at her home at the age of 68.

She was born Feb. 12, 1932, in Wisconsin Rapids, the daughter of Elmer and Gladys (nee Monroe) Hjerstedt. Beryl was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Lester, whom she married June 12, 1954, in Oconomowoc; her sons, Maj. Brian (Mary) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Keith of Milwaukee; her sisters, Wilma (Vernon) Hesse of New Port Richey, Fla., and Lorraine Sharp of Iron River; and her grandchildren, Christina, Michael and Matthew. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Beryl will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park St., Waukesha, with the Rev. James Wilch officiating. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at the Norwegian cemetery in Ixonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Edward J. Bromley
WAUKESHA - Edward J. Bromley, lifelong resident of Waukesha, died at his home Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at the age of 39. He was born Nov. 10, 1960, in Waukesha, the son of Gordon and Gwen (nee Healy) Bromley. Ed worked for Ameriserve for more than 15 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is the dear son of Gordon and Gwen Bromley of Waukesha and the brother of Eric Bromley of Waukesha, Andrew (Kay) Bromley of Appleton and and Peggy Bromley of Waukesha. Also surviving are other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Boulevard. The Rev. Richard Engen will officiate. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Salem cemetery in Wales.

James F. Reinke
EAGLE - James F. Reinke, 64, of Eagle died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at St. Luke's Medical Center. He was a sheet metal worker of more than 30 years and a member of Local Union #18. He was proud to be a veteran of the U.S. Air Corp.

James is survived by his wife Jane (nee Kaulfuerst); children, Sharon (Robert) McNeil, Lori (William) Jassoy; James F. "Skip" Reinke II; step-children, Jay Kaulfuerst, Kip (Joni Rose) Kaulfuerst, Heidi Kaulfuerst; brother, Robert (Lorna) Reinke; three grandchildren, Kyle, Catherine and Elizabeth; and step-granddaughter Alissa. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. James was preceded in death by his first wife, Gail.

The funeral service for James will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. in Waukesha. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield.

Herbert W. Powers
GRAND MARSH - Herbert W. Powers, born July 18, 1925, the son of Henry and Mary (nee Bernard) Powers, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at the age of 75. He was a member of the U.S. Submarine Veterans.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Shirley; his sons, Michael (Cathy) of Waukesha, Jonathon (Elizabeth) of Coloma and Jeffrey of West Allis; his brother, Fred (May) Powers of West Bend; his sister, Maude (John) McPherson of Port Washington; his grandchildren, Patrick, Michelle (Jeffrey) Scholbe, Anthony and Kelley; his great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Brooke; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert P. Wickersham
WAUKESHA - Robert P. Wickersham, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at home at the age of 68. He was born March 7, 1932, in Milwaukee, the son of the late George and Helen (nee Piper) Wickersham.

He was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ. He served as a Marine in the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. Bob was an avid Packer fan.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Janet; his stepchildren, William (Barbara) Sinclair of Milwaukee, Susan Gorski of Rockford, Ill., Jill Forbes of Wauwatosa and Kevin (April) Sinclair of West Allis; his brothers, James (the late Darlyne) of Bruce, Kenneth (the late Dawn) of Brazil, Ind., and the late Richard (Frances) of Springdale, Ark.; his sister, Lois Theune of Wabeno and the late Kay (Clarence) Myhra of Menomonee Falls; his grandchildren, Joseph Durkatz, U.S. Navy, Jennifer and Charles Durkatz, Andrew and Logan Forbes, Rebecca, Sara and Justin Gorski; his special nieces, Kris, Kerry, Kathe, Diane and Sue; his mother-in-law, Helen (the late Charles) Kuehn; his brother-in-law, James (Bunny) Kuehn; and his sister-in-law, Kathleen (Randall) Miller, all of Jefferson; and special friends, Donald (Betty) Clark and Warren and Pat Ranz. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice.

John A. Bardon
OCONOMOWOC - Memorial services will be held Sunday, Oct. 1, for John A. Bardon, 66, who died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000.

Bardon grew up in Duluth, Minn., and lived most of his life in Washington, D.C. He was a graduate of Georgetown University. Most recently, he was a resident of Shorehaven Nursing Home in Oconomowoc. He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Judith J. Thomas.

Survivors include his brothers, Richard Bardon of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Thomas Bardon of Duluth, Minn.; and special friends, the Robert Thomas family of the town of Delafield.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at Zion Presbyterian Church, N13-W28771 Silvernail Road, Pewaukee. Burial will be held Tuesday, Oct. 3, in Duluth, Minn.

Tracy Finn
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Ms. Tracy Finn, 39, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000.

Ms. Finn, a native of Beaufort, S.C., lived her early life in Jacksonville, N.C. She was a graduate of Southwest High School where she was valedictorian of her class. She traveled to Greenville to attend East Carolina University and made her home there. She was associated with the King & Queen and Chico’s Restaurants for a number of years and was employed by Bank of America for the past 15 years, most recently as a certified teller at the hospital branch.

She is survived by her parents, Robert and Esther Finn of Jacksonville; her sisters, Colleen Finn and Rebecca Ives of Greenville; and her husband, Thomas, of Greenville; her brother, Patrick Finn and his wife, Elaine, of Jacksonville; two nephews, her maternal grandfather, Joseph Jimenez; five aunts, one uncle and cousins, all of Waukesha.

Mary J. Stevens
WAUKESHA - Mary J. Stevens, 87, formerly of Waukesha, died on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at Clearview Care Center in Juneau. Mary was born on Nov. 7, 1912, in Marblehead, the daughter of Paul and Rosa (nee Inzeo) Condella. She married Harry Stevens on Oct. 31, 1936, in Waukesha.

Mary was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waukesha. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Waukesha Motor Co.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Kathy) Stevens of Waukesha; her grandchildren, Donna Torbeck, Dan Stevens, Paul Harder and Michael Harder. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Amanda and Jordan; her sisters, Lorraine Huertz of Waukesha, Jean Kennedy of Waukesha, Angie Boccaccio of Milwaukee, Lucy Muslof of Milwaukee and Clara Ferry of Milwaukee; her brother, Mike Condella of Rhinelander; her sister-in-law, MaryAnn Morrison of Delafield and by other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Stevens; her son, Oral Stevens; her brothers, Paul, John and Tony Condella; and by her brothers-in-law, Russell Kiyo and Frank Stevens.

Funeral services for Mary will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, from Rudolph-Larsen Bros. Funeral Home to St. Mary’s Catholic Church at the corner of Hartwell and Newhall avenues for the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s cemetery. Mimi Nichol
Mimi Nichol, 65, of Waukesha, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, passed away September 18, 2000, at the home of her son, Kemp, in Springfield, Mo.

She was born October 12, 1934, in Milwaukee, to the late Harp and Peggy (nee Berger) Nichol. She was a graduate on Oconomowoc High School. Mimi attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and received her Master’s Degree in Social work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1971. She started her social work career in 1964. After many years of service bringing healing to distressed families and children in Brown, Milwaukee and Waukesha counties, she became Director of Waukesha County Family Court Counseling Services in 1990 until her retirement in 1999.

Her involvement in organization and counseling services illustrates Mimi’s level of commitment to helping others. She was a founding member and on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Inter-Professional Committee on Divorce; a member of the Wisconsin Association of Mediators; member of the Association of Family Conciliation Courts; board member of Prevention Protection of Abused Children; Board of Directors of Parents’ Place; she served as faculty member of the Wisconsin Supreme Court Judicial Education Committee.

Along with her brother, Chic, she operated Nichol Meditation, resolving family disputes in Waukesha and surrounding counties.

She was the loving mother to Kemp Nichol and nieces Julie Nichol and Jenny (Nichol) Mora.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Chic.

A memorial service will be held at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home in Waukesha on Friday, Sept. 29. Friends may call at the Randle-Dable Funeral home from 4:30 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. at Shiloh Moravian Church, Sturgeon Bay. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Shiloh Moravian Church after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday until the time of service.

Gabriel Robert Swift
WAUKESHA - Gabriel Robert Swift, the infant son of Denise Schroeder and Robert Swift of Waukesha, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital where he had been born the day before.

Gabriel is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Suzanne Schroeder of Mukwonago, and his paternal grandmother, Bette Skaggs of Milwaukee, along with aunts, uncles, several cousins and friends.

Gabriel was preceded in death by a sister, Jennifer Elizabeth Swift (Oct. 3, 1998); his maternal grandfather, Kenneth Schroeder Sr.; and his paternal grandfather, Emert Swift.

A memorial service for Gabriel will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home-West on Moreland Boulevard in Waukesha. Audrey A. Schumacher
KENOSHA - Audrey A. Schumacher, 58, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at Kenosha Care Center. She was born in Madison on Oct. 1, 1941, to Arthur and Gladys (nee Canfield) Siegler.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Mark Siegler of San Diego, Dennis (Kim) La Plant of Paddock Lake, Craig (Cheryl) LaPlant of Salem and Dale (Roxanne) LaPlant of Genoa City; nine grandchildren, Natalie and Sean Siegler of San Diego, Lindsey LaPlant of Monona, Brandon LaPlant of Paddock Lake, Brittany LaPlant of Paddock Lake, Michael LaPlant of Genoa City, Jarret LaPlant of Salem, Midisun LaPlant of Genoa City and Lauren LaPlant of Salem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Leo Siegler.

Palmer Nordahl Skoug
WAUKESHA - Longtime Waukesha resident, Palmer N. Skoug, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 76.

Palmer was born Feb. 20, 1924, on a farm in the town of Clear Creek in Eau Claire County to Reihnart and Hilda (nee Christianson) Skoug.

He attended Norseville School and grew up in the Strum, Wis. area. He served in the infantry in World War II in the European Theater and later transferred to S.P.T.W. in the military police.

He met his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Tibbitts in Eau Claire. They were married in Strum in 1951 and settled in Milwaukee. They moved to Waukesha in 1960. Palmer retired from A.O. Smith in Milwaukee in 1987 where he was a machine repairman for 34 years. Palmer was a member of the Mount Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha for the past 40 years. He belonged to the Elks Lodge #400 in Waukesha and was an inner guard. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #721 in Waukesha.

Palmer was an avid bowler in the Waukesha area for many years. He belonged to the Saturday Mates for about 30 years, the Elks Wednesday League, the Monday Moor Downs Golf League and played cards on Wednesdays with the seniors.

Palmer is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty, and three children: his son, Steve (Gail) and their sons Jason and Joe of Big Bend; his daughter, Gail (Michael Hokenson) and children, Christine and David of Waukesha; and his son, Craig (Erlane) and daughters Charlene, Alisha and Ashley of Waukesha. Palmer is also survived by his brother, Walter (Fern) Skoug of Amery, and sister-in-law Della Skoug of Black River Falls. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Even and Ina (Tibbitts) Landsem of Chippewa Falls and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leroy and Jean Tibbitts of Eau Claire. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reinhart and Hilda Skoug of Strum and his brother, Filmore, of Black River.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1941 Madison St., Waukesha. Pastor Michael Turriff will officiate. Friends may call after 4 p.m on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Boulevard, and at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the services. An Elks Lodge of Sorrow will be conducted on Wednesday at the funeral home at 7 p.m. Interment will be at Salem cemetery in Wales.

Kenneth Leland Schaffer
MANCHESTER, TENN. - Kenneth Leland Schaffer, 77, of Manchester, Tenn., died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at St. Thomas Hospital.

Kenneth was born in Oscela, Iowa, on June 17, 1923. He was the owner and manager of the Whispering Oaks Campground in Manchester.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Schaffer of Manchester; his four sons, Larry Schaffer of Canton, Ga., Roy Schaffer and Jeff Schaffer of Manchester and Steven Schaffer of Nashville, Tenn.; and his daughter, Linda Andrews of Trevor. He is further survived by five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Don Schaffer of Osceola, Iowa, Norm Schaffer of Crossville, Tenn., and Bob Schaffer of Chicago.

Visitation was held Monday, Sept. 18, and funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 19, at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel, 786 McMinnville Highway, Manchester. The Rev. Louis Johnson was the officiant. Burial will be in the Blanton Chapel cemetery.

Wilbert H. Bergmann
WAUKESHA - Wilbert H. Bergmann, 78, of Waukesha, died at his home Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000. He was born in Ixonia on May 19, 1922, to the late Elmer and Viola (Rohloff) Bergmann. On Sept. 25, 1954, he married the former Marie Mauer. He was a member of the Eagles Club #453 in Waukesha and was employed for 31 years at Grede Foundry.

He will be missed by his wife, Marie, of Waukesha; his brothers, Elmer (Susan) Bergmann of Ixonia, Kermit F. (Dorothy) Bergmann of Watertown and Chester E. Bergmann of Waukesha; and his sisters, Frances (Richard) Motl of Oconomowoc and Lucille Zimdars of Oconomowoc. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
