Anna Grace Krueger

Sept. 27, 1918 - May 1, 2009

Anna Grace Krueger, 90, Plainfield, died peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2009, at Preston Place in Redgranite. She was born Sept. 27, 1918 in the Town of Saxeville, the daughter of Devert and Maude (Pembleton) Georgeson. She married Louis Krueger in 1939. He preceded her in death in 1986. Grace and her late husband farmed in the Town of Oasis for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Almond. She is survived by two sons, Donald Krueger and David Krueger, both of Plainfield; two granddaughters, Tammy Eisner, Plainfield, and Tina Krueger, Plainfield; two great-grandchildren, Cody and Caitlin Eisner; one brother, Robert Georgeson, Waupaca; one sister, Olive Long, Waupaca. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Violet Berberg; one brother, Louis Georgeson. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the United Methodist Church, Almond with the Rev. David Leistra officiating. Burial was in Oasis cemetery, Town of Oasis. Visitation was held on Monday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield and at the Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Beulah E. Reader

Aug. 13, 1914 - April 29, 2009

Beulah E. Reader, 94, Onalaska, formerly of Almond, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Gunderson Hospital in LaCrosse. Beulah was born in the Town of Rose, Waushara County, on Aug. 13, 1914, the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Anselm) Scheicher. On Oct. 18, 1939, Beulah married Wayne Reader in Almond and he preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1979. Beulah attended Almond High School and graduated from Central State Teachers College in Stevens Point receiving her degree in teaching. She taught elementary school in Edgerton and Almond. She also worked at the local drug store in Almond. She was a member of Stevens Point Area Retired Teachers Association and the National Association of Federal Employees. She is a member of Almond United Methodist Church. Beulah is survived by her son: Roger (Nancy) Reader, Onalaska; her grandchildren: Ryan (Heather) Reader, Black Earth, and Jason (Jessica) Reader, Eden Prairie, MN and her five great grandchildren. Funeral Services were on Saturday, May 2 at 3 p.m. at United Methodist Church, Almond with Reverend David Leistra, officiating. Interment was in the East German Methodist cemetery, Almond. Visitation was on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Almond United Methodist Church. Hardell-Holly Funeral Home in Almond is assisted the family with arrangements.

Anna E. Thompson

Aug. 9, 1915 - April 26, 2009

Anna E. (Ninnemann) Thompson, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2009, in Woodstock, IL. She was born Aug. 9, 1915, in the home of her parents, Albert and Flora B. “Mae” (Seymour) Ninnemann, near Peshtigo, in Marinette County. She was the third of five children. Young Anna grew up on the family farm and was greatly influenced by her aunt, Zella Seymour Smith (Mrs. Glenn) who was a country school teacher. After high school graduation, Anna graduated from the former Stevenson Training Institute for Teachers and from Oshkosh State Teacher’s College in the 1930’s before it became part of the University of Wisconsin system. Her teaching career began as a country school teacher in Marinette County. Her supervisor and other colleagues described Anna as “a born teacher”, noticing her passion for education and her innate skill with students. During her career she supervised many student teachers, mostly those from Whitewater State University, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at a mature age. Anna also taught in Lake Mills, Sullivan, Rome, Fort Atkinson, and Jefferson schools, all located in the State of Wisconsin. Anna married her childhood sweetheart, Kenneth C. Thompson, on June 11, 1940. They raised three children, Lana Beth, Marilyn Dawn, and Patrick Lee Thompson. Anna was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Jefferson, along with her family, from 1950 to 1982. She gave generously of her leadership and belonged to United Methodist Women, the Auxiliary of the V.F.W., the Rebekkah Lodge, the Wisconsin Teacher’s Association, and the National Education Association. Following their respective retirements Anna and Kenneth moved to Neshkoro, joining Grace United Methodist Church in Wautoma, and the Waushara County Artists group. Both volunteered their time and talents for many years at Camp Lucerne, a United Methodist Church Camp located near Neshkoro. For many years Anna was a Brownie/Girl Scout leader, a 4-H Project leader, a Boy Scout Den assistant, and a Sunday School teacher. Anna and her husband traveled extensively across the United States, and both of them were active members and officers of the local, state, and regional Coachman Camping Association. A final move was made from Wisconsin to Woodstock, IL, where they joined First United Methodist Church pastored by their daughter from 1996-2004. Anna resided these past nine years at Hearthstone Village and Manor, an entity of Woodstock Christian Life Services. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Loren Ninnemann, Katherine Schroeder, and Evelyn Johnston, her husband Kenneth C. Thompson, and her son-in-law Professor Paul W. Sutton. Anna is survived by her brother Clarence Ninnemann, her three children: Lana Thompson Sutton (the late Paul), Naperville, IL, Marilyn Thompson Austin (Everett), Caledonia, MN, and Patrick Lee Thompson (Susan), Gambrills, MD; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren with a twelfth great-grandchild expected in September; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m., May 8, at Immanuel United Methodist Church, Jefferson, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. officiated by The Reverend Nancy Carmichael. Anna’s family suggests those attending the service wear bright, happy colors to remember her with joy. A graveside inurnment will take place at the Rock River cemetery followed by a luncheon at the church. Arrangements are facilitated by Schneider-Leucht-Merwin-Cooney Funeral Service of Woodstock, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to First United Methodist Church of Woodstock, IL, Immanuel United Methodist Church of Jefferson, or Camp Lucerne in Neshkoro. Beverly A. Jansen

July 8, 1932 - May 1, 2009

Beverly A. Jansen, 76, Wild Rose, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2009 at Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 8, 1932 in the Town of Springwater, daughter of Russell and Alice (Rait) Straw. On Oct. 24, 1953, Beverly married Delwin L. Jansen at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Wild Rose. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1998. Beverly was a five-time cancer survivor and an inspiration to many other cancer survivors. She enjoyed life and loved helping others, and her times spent on Round Lake she cherished. But most of all, Beverly loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed! Beverly is survived by: sons: Jody (Kim) Jansen, Wild Rose, Mark (Jayne) Jansen, Wild Rose; grandchildren: Joshua, Jacob, Travis, Robbie, and Savannah Jansen, Wild Rose; brother: Gleno (Peggy) Straw, Wild Rose, sister: Ellen (Jerry) Merryfield, Drummond; sisters-in-law: Delores Jansen of Stevens Point, Gloria Farrell, Pecatonica, IL and Beverly Baitinger, Wild Rose. She was loved and adored by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Alice Straw; her husband, Delwin Jansen; and her sister and brother-in-law, Donna (Fay) Wilson. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wild Rose. Reverend Dale Bahls officiated. A visitation was held on Sunday, May 3, from 3 – 7 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose, and also from 10 – 11 a.m. at the church on Monday. Burial was at Howes Corner cemetery in the Town of Mt. Morris. A memorial has been established to the Wild Rose Community Memorial Hospital and to their Women’s Auxiliary. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose assisted the family with arrangements.

Vincent R. Lorenz

Jan. 30, 1925 - April 27, 2009

Vincent R. Lorenz, 84, Wautoma, died Monday evening, April 27, 2009 at his home. He was born Jan. 30, 1925 in North Dakota. He married Luise (Grups) Krueger in July of 1971. Vincent was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Wautoma. He was a talented singer and musician and was able to play several different instruments. He enjoyed collecting rocks and was known as the “rock hound.” Vincent is survived by his wife of 38 years, Luise Lorenz, Wautoma; his son, Sid (Debbie) Lorenz, Wautoma; three grandchildren, Logan, Lucinda and Boone Lorenz; he is further survived by his family at the Kingdom Hall in Wautoma. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Wautoma. The Leikness Funeral Home of Wautoma assisted the family with arrangements.

Robert F. White Jr.

Dec. 4, 1948 - June 1, 2009

Robert F. White Jr,, 60, Wautoma, died Monday, June 1, 2009 at Wild Rose Hospital. He was born Dec. 4, 1948 in Michigan. He married Chris C. Sokolowski on April 10, 1980. He is survived by his wife, Chris White, Wautoma; two sons, Steve (Theresa) White, St. Germain, Brian White, Omro; three grandchildren, Matt, Samantha and Damon; a brother, Mike White; two nephews, Dustin and Dylan White; other relatives and friends. preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Michelle Hurley. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma. Vernon L. Goman

Sept. 24, 1963 - June 2, 2009

Vernon L. Goman, 45, Plainfield, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at his home. Services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Gasperic Funeral Home in Plainfield. Visitation will be from noon until services. Vern was born Sept. 24, 1963 in Stevens Point, son of Jean E. Goretski and the late David L. Goman. He married Louise A. Elliott on May 5, 2009 in Stevens Point. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor at Cummins Emissions in Wautoma. He drove Allis-Chalmers tractors on the farm. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, snowmobiling, ATVing, and working in the shop. Survivors include his wife Louise, Plainfield; daughter Ashton (Mike) Gebert, Stevens Point; son Kurt (Cindy) Goman, Hancock; mother Jean (Gary) Goretski, Bancroft; mother and father-in-law Jean and Alvin Elliott, Plainfield; one granddaughter Ellyn E. Gebert; one brother Jay (Wendy) Goman, Plainfield; two sisters Amanda (Jake) Pryne, Wisconsin Rapids and Felicia (Judd) Barden, Stevens Point. Also in-laws Tom (Kathy) Elliot and Pat (Elwin) Nigh, Plainfield, Pam (Terry) Tomschin, Coloma and many other relatives and friends. Edwin C. Sitarz

Jan. 6, 1922 - May 28, 2009

Edwin (Ed) C. Sitarz, 87, Fish Lake, Hancock, (formally of Clarendon Hills, IL) passed away May 28, 2009 at Hinsdale, IL. Ed was born to Carl and Catherine (Rybarz) Sitarz (both eastern European immigrants) on Jan. 6, 1922 in Chicago. He married Violet (Carlson) on Feb. 3, 1945 in Oak Park, IL. They had three children: Darrell, Daniel (Jan) and Larry. Ed worked for Chicago Steel Tank and Imperial Steel Tank Company in Chicago and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers since the 1930’s. A self-taught engineer, Ed designed and built (some say over-built) many innovative projects including a pop-up camper trailer in the early 1950’s, an inventive snow shovel, a cable car for use at their home of Fish Lake where they moved in 1985 and many others. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters and brothers-in-law Lillian and Carl Nelson, Florence and Merl Hartlett and Stella and Frank Barnas. He is survived by his wife and children and his sister Gladys (Walter) Benkstein and many nieces and nephews as well as two grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Sitarz. Services will be private.

Milton H. Drager

April 23, 1933 - June 7, 2009

Milton H. Drager, 76, Wautoma, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at his home. He was born April 23, 1933 in the Town of Dakota, the son of Fred and Edna (Eichsteadt) Drager. He married the former LaRue “Ruth” Schneider on July 25, 1970 in Wautoma. She preceded him in death on May 15, 1994. Milton farmed the family homestead in the Town of Dakota for many years. He worked at the former Walker Lumber Company in Wautoma. Milton was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Waushara County Highway Department until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Milton was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wautoma. He is survived by his special friend and companion, Edith Bursack, Wautoma; eight children, Jackie (Chuck) Vetrone, Wild Rose, Libby Talady, Iola, Tom (Kathie) Thrasher, Mississippi, Tim (Peggy) Thrasher, Waukesha, Sharon (Ed) Moerchen, Wautoma, Candy (Bob) Bandt, Wautoma, John Goodhue, Wautoma, and Jennifer (Kevin) Pulvermacher, Neshkoro; a daughter-in-law, Mary Thrasher, Waukesha; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church in Wautoma with the Rev. Gregory D. Hyatt officiating. Burial will be in Dakota cemetery, Town of Dakota. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. at Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma and on Friday at the Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
A memorial has been established.

Curtis W. Hipke

Curtis William Hipke, 87, passed away on May 30, 2009.

He was born on April 2, 2009, the son of Ben and Inez (Barr) Hipke in Iron River.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 12 at the Amvets Clubhouse, 820 Division St., Redgranite.

Dorothy E. Cummings

March 2, 1914 - June 2, 2009

Dorothy E. Cummings, 95, Wautoma, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Heartland House where she had been a resident for 5 years. She was born March 2, 1914 in Adams County, the daughter of Fred and Bertha (Zwicky) Lotzow. She was a graduate of Adams-Friendship High School Class of 1931 and also attended Miss Brown’s School of Business in Milwaukee. She married Walter A. Cummings on June 25, 1939. He passed away Nov. 18, 2001. Dorothy was a member of Grace United Methodist Church since 1946 when she and Walter and two year old twin sons Jerry and Larry moved to Wautoma. Walter was a full-time teacher and also a farmer. Dorothy was a full-time homemaker and dedicated her life to Walter and their twins. She processed many eggs in the 1960’s from their large poultry stock. Dorothy was also formerly a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Dorothy is survived by her twin sons Jerry (Linda) Cummings, Wautoma and Larry (Joyce Wyatt) Cummings, Middletown, CT; sister-in-law, Rogna Lotzow, Menomonee Falls; a niece, Delores (Steve) Gyorfy, Hubertus; nephew, Bob (Judy Klukaczewski) Lotzow, Menomonee Falls; other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one nephew, Freddie Lotzow; two brothers Edward Lotzow and Henry (Anita) Lotzow. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. in Grace United Methodist Church, Wautoma with Pastor George J. Kafer officiating. Burial was in Wautoma Union cemetery. Relatives and friends called from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the services at the church. A memorial has been established. The Leikness Funeral Home of Wautoma assisted the family with the arrangements.

Patricia A. Campbell

December 9, 1932 - September 28, 2007

Patricia A. Campbell, age 74, of Wautoma, passed away suddenly, Friday afternoon, September 28, 2007 at her home.

She was born December 9, 1932 in Frazeysburg, Ohio, the daughter of Glen and Delia Richeart. She married Webb Campbell in 1989, he preceded her in death.

She was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad.

She is survived by her children, Dawn P. (Uwe) Streckel, Lovona Veow, Roger Higgins, Rocky Higgins, Johnny Higgins, William Higgins, Louis Drake, Glen Higgins; numerous grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. The Leikness Funeral Home of Wautoma assisted the family with arrangements.

Sgt. Donald James Stevens (ret)

April 12, 1923 - August 4, 2004

Sgt. Donald James Stevens (ret) of New York, passed away late in the evening of August 4, 2004 at his home on the lower east side, surrounded by family and friends.

A former councilman and elder at the First Baptist Church, Donald was always active in the community whether it be working on a political campaign, volunteering at the homeless shelter, or through the local Lyons Club.

Donald leaves behind a daughter Stephanie Stevens, a son Donald A. Stevens, and 6 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Norma Whitfield Stevens.

Donald was born in Salem Oregon on April 12, 1923 to Emma Jane Stevens and Alfred Stevens. Donald's father Alfred was a Captain in the Navy and Donald spent much of his youth overseas. The family returned to Salem in when Donald was 16, where he graduated from Salem High School in 1941.

Donald enlisted in the Marines in 1941 and served Honorably in WWII and was a veteran of the Normandy invasion. Donald Retired from the Marine Corps in 1960 and opened a hardware/hobby shop in New York City. It was in New York where Donald met his wife Norma, and where they raised their family.

Larry A. Tague

March 8, 1951 - Aug. 4, 2009

Larry A. Tague, 58, Wautoma, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 4, 2009 at his residence. He was born March 8, 1951 in Wisconsin Rapids, the son of Harlan and Vivian (Sparks) Tague. He married Janet C. Krueger on Sept. 19, 1992. Larry was a 1969 graduate of Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Larry was employed at Arrowhead Conveyor in Oshkosh for 36 years and was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife Janet Tague, Wautoma; his two daughters Jessica (Scott) Gouza, Medford and Kristina (Shaun) Kettner, Neenah; his grandchildren, Jonathon and Jacob Gouza, Medford and Summer and Kyle Kettner, Neenah.

He is further survived by his nephew Scott (Julie) Tague, Wisconsin Rapids, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Doug Tague. A memorial service for Larry was held on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009 at 6 p.m. in the Leikness Funeral Home, Wautoma with Rev. Patrick Green officiating. Relatives and friends called on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of services at the Funeral Home. The Leikness Funeral Home of Wautoma assisted the family with the arrangements. www.wautomafuneralhome.com.
