ARTHUR A. FRASER

Wheat Ridge, CO (Formerly of Poy Sippi, WI)

Age 96 – died peacefully on Friday, November 23,
2007 at the Collier Hospice Center in Wheat
Ridge, CO, following a short illness. He was born
on August 2, 1911 in Lohrville, WI, the son of
William and Jane Fraser. He was a 1927 graduate
of Redgranite High School. Following in his
father’s footsteps, Arthur managed gas stations
in both Redgranite and Berlin, WI. He married
Blodwyne Williams of Redgranite on November 23,
1936, and their daughter, Carol, was born in
1937. In 1942 Arthur moved his family to Chicago
to do his part to aid in the war effort by
working as a tool and die machinist. In 1946
Arthur and his family returned to Wisconsin. He
and his brother-in-law, George Dahlke, opened the
Dahlke-Fraser Garage on Main Street in Poy Sippi,
WI, selling both automobiles and farm implements.
Upon Art and George’s retirement, the business was
sold in 1977. In 1947 Arthur had a home built on
the pond of the Pine River in Poy Sippi, and he
resided there until 2003, at which time he moved
to Colorado to live with his daughter. Arthur’s
wife, Blodwyne preceded him in death in 1989,
after 53 years of marriage. In 1992 Arthur
married Beatrice Cooper and they spent five happy
and contented years together until her death in
1997.

Arthur was a faithful member of the Poy Sippi
United Methodist Church and served his parish in
many capacities. The towns’ people would often
see Arthur on his riding mower going up Main
Street on his way to tend to the church lawn. He
was a charter member of the Poy Sippi Volunteer
Fire Dept., and was recruited on the very first
day of his new business in town by the then Fire
Chief Art Parsons. He was very active with the
Poy Sippi Lions Club, each year repairing dozens
of donated small implements to sell at their
annual auction. He volunteered for many of the
ongoing Community Betterment Committee projects
in Poy Sippi. Upon retirement Arthur pursued his
love of fishing on his beloved Pine River. His
pride and joy was tending to the lawn and grounds
around his home. Having coffee in the morning with
his many fellow Poy Sippi gentlemen was a joyful
time for him.

He is survived by his daughter: Carol Luke of
Lakewood, Co, three grandsons: Alan B. (Nicole)
Luke, II, DVM of Parker, CO, Braden F. (Dawn)
Luke of Parker, CO, and Timothy (Sonya) Luke, MD
of Fairfield, CA, five great grandchildren: Emma,
Roen, Anyah, Devon, and Brendon Luke, a brother:
Edward (Evelyn) Fraser of Berlin, two
sisters-in-law: Margaret Fraser of Waupaca, and
Betty (George) Dahlke of Milwaukee, and two
brothers-in-law: Leroy (Helen) Williams of
Oshkosh, and Ted Gromacki of Milwaukee. He is
further survived by many nieces, nephews, other
relatives, and dear friends of the Poy Sippi
community. He was preceded in death by his wife:
Blodwyne (Bobby) Fraser, his second wife:
Beatrice Fraser, his son-in-law: Alan B. Luke,
DDS, his parents, his brother: William Fraser,
two brothers-in-law: Quill Williams and Dave
Williams, and his sister-in-law: Alvina
Gromacki.

A funeral service will be held at the Poy Sippi
United Methodist Church in Poy Sippi, WI on
Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 2:00 PM, with the

assisted by Rev. Barry Shaw. Interment will be in
