Russell L. Stumpner, age 87, of Pine River, WI,
passed away Wednesday, August 27th, 2008 at his
home. He was born in the Town of Saxeville, WI on
March 19, 1921, the son of Louis and Esther
(Regal) Stumpner. Russell married Theresa Rivera
on April 18, 1959 in Waukegan, IL.

He is survived by his Wife: Theresa Stumpner,
Pine River, WI; Children: Trina A. Stumpner, Pine
River, WI; Kim M. Baker, Ripon, WI; Sharon L.
Stumpner, Berlin, WI; Larry R. (Mary) Stumpner,
Winneconne, WI; Dennis D. Stumpner, Oshkosh, WI;
Eight Grandchildren, and Eight Great
Grandchildren. Russell was preceded in death by
his parents.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on
Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Emmaus Ev. Lutheran
Church in Poy Sippi, with Reverend William Meier
officiating. Interment will be in Poy Sippi
cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 - 8 PM
on Friday at the Holly Funeral Home in Poy Sippi,
and on Saturday at the church from 10 AM until the
time of the service.

Betty J. Barden

Memorial Service will be on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 11
AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca with
Reverend Jennifer DeNetz, officiating. Interment
will be in the Central WI Veterans Memorial
cemetery, King, WI. A memorial gathering will be on
Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of
services at the church. In lieu of flowers,
memorials appreciated to Bethel Circle or Altar
Guild at Trinity Lutheran Church. Holly Funeral
Home in Waupaca is assisting the family with
arrangements.

Betty J. Barden, age 82, of Waupaca, WI, passed
away Thursday, August 28, 2008 surrounded by her
family at Bethany Home. Betty was born in Stevens
Point, WI on July 5, 1926, the daughter of the
late George and Alfreda (Erickson) Borchardt. On
August 2, 1947, Betty married Arlin Barden at her
parents farm in Waupaca. Betty is a member of
Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca and also a
member and past president of the American Legion
Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, AmVets Auxiliary, DAV
Auxiliary, the Womens Relief Corps and the
American Contract Bridge League.

Betty is survived by her husband: Arlin C. Barden
of Waupaca; her sons: Bill (Betsy) Barden of
Plover and Bob (Peggy) Barden of DePere; Five
Grandchildren: Elizabeth (Charles) Bornhoeft of
Minneapolis; Bradford Barden of Madison; Kristin
(Andy) Paluch of Pulaski; Megan (Jason) Sanders of
Hayward and Jeffrey Barden of DePere and a Great
Grandchild: Orion Robert Sanders. Also surviving
are her brothers: Leroy (Mary) Borchardt of
Appleton and George (Susan) Borchardt of
Minneapolis and many nieces and nephews. A
Memorial Service will be on Saturday, Sept. 6 at
11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca with
Reverend Jennifer DeNetz, officiating. Interment
will be in the Central WI Veterans Memorial
cemetery, King, WI. A memorial gathering will be

Church – Fancher in Amherst, WI. Father Robert
Pedretti will preside. A visitation will be held on
Sunday evening, Aug. 31, 2008, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM
at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst and
also from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church on Monday.
A Rosary Service will be at 7:00 PM on Sunday
evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at St.
Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic cemetery in the Town of
Stockton following the service on Monday. The
Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting
the family with arrangements.

RYAN F. KRUPKA

ALMOND, WISCONSIN

Age 27, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2008 in
the Town of Plainfield, WI. He was born August
25, 1981 in Stevens Point, WI; son of Jerry and
Maryann (Wierzba) Krupka. Ryan was the owner of
RFK Construction Company in Almond, WI. He also
helped out on the family farm in Amherst, and on
his free time, loved to go fishing. Ryan was a
member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church –
Fancher.

Ryan is survived by:

Parents: Jerry and Maryann Krupka of Amherst,
WI

Brothers: Jerry (Amy) Krupka of Amherst, WI

Keith Krupka of Amherst, WI

Sister: Shawn (Jerry) Alfuth of Amherst, WI

Godson: Aiden Krupka of Amherst, WI

Nieces and Nephews: Devin, Laura, Kaleb, Grace,
Jaren, and Aiden

Uncles: Alfred (Ann) Wierzba of Stevens Point,
WI

LeRoy (Pat) Wierzba of Custer, WI

Aunt: Josie (special friend, Dave) Kraklow of
Plover, WI

His Dog: Buddy

Also survived by many cousins, other relatives,
and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal
grandparents, Joseph and Catherine Krupka, and
maternal grandparents, Frank and Eleanor
Wierzba.

A Funeral Mass will be on Monday, September 1,
2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel
Catholic Church – Fancher in Amherst, WI. Father

be held on Sunday evening, Aug. 31, 2008, from
4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Jungers-Holly Funeral Home
in Amherst and also from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the

Leo D. Pinney, age 79, of Amherst, WI, passed away
Sunday, August 31st, 2008 in Stevens Point, WI. He
was born in Ladysmith, WI on August 28, 1929, the
son of Ross Lee and Maude (Gilchrist) Pinney. Leo
married Julia Anklam on April 22, 1961 in Big
Falls, WI.

Leo is survived by Wife: Julia Pinney, Amherst;
Children: Ivan Pinney, Amherst; Mathew (Dian)
Pinney, Endeavor, WI; Dawn Pinney, Amherst; Dorene
Pinney, Amherst; Sister: Dorothy (Frank) Alex,
Oregon; and his Mother-in-law: Ruth Anklam, Big
Falls, WI. Leo is further survived by nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; Sisters:
Betsy Ultsch and Mae Overmore; and Brothers:
Raymond, Virgil, Merele, Eldon, and Glen

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on
Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Grace Baptist
Church in Plover, WI. Interment will be in
Greenwood cemetery in Amherst. A visitation will
be held at the church on Thursday from 10 AM until
the time of the service.

Lutheran Church, Nelsonville, at 11 AM on Friday,
September 5th, 2008, with Reverend Dwight Anderson
officiating. Interment will be in the Nelsonville
Lutheran cemetery. Visitation will be held on
Thursday from 4 - 8 PM at Jungers-Holly Funeral Home
in Amherst and on Friday, from 10 AM until the time
of the service at the church.

Joel R. Zarnke, Jr., age 36, of Amherst Jct., WI.,
passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September
2nd, 2008 in Portage, WI. He was born in Stevens
Point, WI., on November 23, 1971, a son of Joel
R. Zarnke Sr. and the late Joan (Anderson)
Zarnke.

He married Brandi Marquard on December 31, 1994.
Joel was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and
friend. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and
fishing. Joel was very dedicated to his work as a
carpenter.

Survivors include his Children: Kodee Zarnke,
Amherst, WI; Kennedy Zarnke, Amherst, WI; Father:
Joel Zarnke Sr., Glendale, WI; Love of his life:
Brandi Marquard, Amherst, WI. Sisters & Brothers:
Sherry (Walt) Doney, Lewis Center, OH; Terri
(Rick) Soper, Almond, WI; Laurie (John) Swetalla,
Stevens Point, WI; Karen (Mike) Dombrowski,
Amherst Jct., WI; Brock Zarnke, Amherst Jct., WI.
He is further survived by many adoring nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends. He was
preceded in death by his mother - Joan Zarnke,
paternal grandparents - Helen Storm, Kenneth Storm
and Robert Zarnke, maternal grandparents - Esther
and Tony Anderson, niece - Amanda Soper and best
friend - Shane Wolding.

Funeral Services will be held at Nelsonville
Lutheran Church, Nelsonville, at 11 AM on Friday,
September 5th, 2008, with Reverend Dwight Anderson
officiating. Interment will be in the
Nelsonville Lutheran cemetery. Visitation will be
held on Thursday from 4 - 8 PM at Jungers-Holly
Funeral Home in Amherst and on Friday, from 10 AM
until the time of the service at the church.

Joel is dearly loved and will be sadly missed by
all.

Visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral
home from 11-1 P.M. Interment will follow at
Scandinavia Lutheran cemetery in the Town
Scandinavia, Waupaca County, Wisconsin. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to
American Legion Post 161 King, WI.

Lawrence A. Ruth, age 84, of Waupaca, formerly of
Joliet, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, September
3rd, 2008 at Riverside Medical Center. Mr. Ruth
was born in Cuba, Illinois on June 13, 1924, he
was the son of the late Fred H. and Florence
(Nooner) Ruth. On Dec 2, 1978, he married Betty
Huffcutt in Las Vegas.

Lawrence worked as a supervisor for Illinois Bell
for 35 years. He served in the United States Air
Force during World War II. Lawrence was a member
of the American Legion Post 161 in King. He loved
gardening and sharing his baked cookies and cakes
with his family and friends.

He is survived by Wife: Betty Ruth, Waupaca;
Daughter: Janice M. Finnis, Seminole, FL; Sons:
Ronald (Lesa) Ruth, Lockport, Illinois; Kevin M.
Ruth, Joliet, Illinois; Step Sons: Phillip E.
(Diana) Huml, Yorkville, Illinois; Daniel
(Kathryn) Huml, Elburn, Illinois; Step Daughters:
Suzanne (Michael) Descourouez, Willow Springs,
NC; Dianne (Mark) Vafai, Erwin, NC. He is also
survived by 16 grandchildren, 11 great
grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, four
half brothers: Ken (Lois) Ruth, Streator, Ill;
John (Sonia) Ruth, Coal City, Ill; Herman Ruth,
Crest Hill, Ill and Robert (Gloria) Ruth, Joliet,
Ill. He was preceded in death by his Sisters:
Annabelle, Jaunita and Brother: Fred
