Joseph P. Slaske

Joseph P. Slaske, age 83 of 3240 Soo Marie Ave., Stevens Point, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009, at Strawberry Lane Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Wisconsin Rapids.

A Mass of Christian burial for Joseph will be at 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009, at St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Very Reverend John Potaczek will officiate. Burial will be at the parish cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4: 00 p.m. to 8: 00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2009, at the Shuda Funeral Chapel, Stevens Point, and again Saturday from 9: 30 a.m. to 10: 15 a.m. at the church. On Friday night at 6: 00 p.m. at the funeral home, the American Legion Post #6 will have a ritual and military honors, at 6: 30 p.m. the Knights of Columbus #1170 of Stevens Point will lead a rosary, and at 7: 00 p.m. the Very Reverend John Potaczek will lead a prayer service. The family requests that memorials be made in Joe’s name to St. Stephen Church or Portage County Right to Life.

Joseph was born March 18, 1926, in Stevens Point, to Frank and Anna (Filipp) Slaske. He attended St. Stephen School and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1944. Joe entered the United States Army Air Force on July 18, 1944. He served his country as an aerial gunner and earned the American Theater Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Joe was honorably discharged on July 4, 1946. He returned to the area and began his career at the Wisconsin Telephone Company. Joe married Bernice "Bea" Kumba on September 2, 1950, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. The couple settled in Stevens Point where they started their family. In 1976, Joe's career moved the family to Eau Claire, where he retired from Ameritech in 1986 after almost 40 years of service. The couple moved to Minneapolis, MN in 1989, where they were managers for the Loring Green East Condominiums until 1993 when they returned to Stevens Point.

Joe’s faith, family and friends were extremely important to him. He enjoyed vacations, gatherings and celebrations with family and friends, and supporting his daughters in their many activities. Joe was a very active parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church in Eau Claire and at St. Stephen. He served as a lector, server, extraordinary minister, and choir member. In high school, he participated in football, basketball, and boxing, and coached the St. Stephen basketball team. Joe later enjoyed softball, ping-pong, bowling, golf, water skiing, swimming and horseshoes. He participated in Boy Scouts, athletic associations of Stevens Point Pacelli and Eau Claire Regis high schools, was a volunteer with the Telephone Pioneers and a member of American Legion Post #6. Joe served as an officer with the Knights of Columbus #1170 and the St. Stephen Parent-Teacher Association.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Bernice "Bea", and their four daughters: Geralynn "Lynn" (Walt) Rasmussen, Plover; Donna Slaske, Eau Claire; Pamela (Rob) Brantner, Eau Claire; and Tina (Kirk) Even, Great Mills, MD. Five grandchildren: Steven, Kristen, Johnathan, Gregory, and Angelo. Three step-grandchildren: Harrison, Shannon, and Mitchell. A brother Eugene (Isabelle) Slaske, Milwaukee, a sister-in-law Dorothy Slaske, Milwaukee and a brother-in-law Bill Billingslea, Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Laura, and his brother Daniel.

Dorothy J. Clendenning

Dorothy J. Clendenning, age 85 formerly of 2900 Plover Road in Plover passed away December 24, 2009 at the Portage County Health Care Center where she had resided the past three months.

A mass of christian burial for Dorothy will be at 10: 30 AM Monday December 28, 2009 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. Rev. Sagayaraj Augustine will officiate. Friends and family will gather at the church to share memories from 9: 00 AM Monday until the time of services. The St. Bronislava Rosary Society of which Dorothy was a lifetime member will pray the general rosary in church at 9: 30 AM. Monday. Burial will be in the spring at the Meehan cemetery.

Dorothy was born July 22, 1924 in Stevens Point the daughter of Cleland and Nellie (Porter) Finnessy. She attended local schools in Plover and Stevens Point. Dorothy married Lyle C. Clendenning June 28, 1944 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. The couple resided in Whiting, later moving to Stockton until settling in Plover. The couple raised three children and Dorothy also worked at Weber Tackle for 10 years. She enjoyed family gatherings, flower gardening, bingo, and traveling. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Carol (Clyde) Brillowski, Plover; Tom (Priscilla) Clendenning, Plover; Christopher (Rachel) Clendenning, Plover. Six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. One sister Isla Weisbrot, Stevens Point; one brother Larry Finnessy, Plover. Two sister-in-laws: Cathryn Finnessy, Oregon; Lorraine Braat, MI. One brother-in-law Orville Clendenning, Stevens Point. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lyle in 2004; three brothers Albert, Frank, John; two sisters: Susan and Alice.

Dorothy's family would like to thank the staff at the Portage County Health Care Center east and north wings along with ICU and Dr. Fred at St. Michaels Hospital for the wonderful care given to their mother.

Agnes R. Groshek

Agnes R. Groshek, 63, of Highway 161 in the town of Amherst, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Agnes will be at 10: 30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. The Rev. James Trempe will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish cemetery. Friends and family will gather today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point, and again from 9 a.m. to 10: 15 a.m. Thursday at the church. A general rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

Shuda Family Funeral Service of Stevens Point and Plover are assisting the family.

A memorial, in lieu of flowers, will be established in her name.

Agnes was born April 28, 1946, in Stevens Point, the daughter of August and Doris (Gierszewski) Bemke. She attended local schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1964. She married Paul Groshek, July 31, 1965, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.

Agnes loved spending time with her family, and held together many family traditions through the years while she was a homemaker as she and Paul raised their four children. In 2001, she began working part-time at Fleet Farm, where she has been employed since.

She also enjoyed gardening, feeding her wild birds, reading and animals, especially her cats and ferrets.

Agnes is survived by her husband, Paul; their four children, Kevin (Tina) Groshek, Wisconsin Rapids, Carla (Eric) Gagas, Custer, Craig (Anna) Groshek, Plover and Cory Groshek, Plover; two grandchildren, Kayla and Dustin Groshek; four sisters, Catherine Wanta, Stevens Point, Eleanor Spitzenberger, Eau Claire, Frances (Richard) Brown, Plover and Theresa (Arvid) Cummings, Salton City, Calif.; four brothers, August Bemke, Anthony (Rita) Bemke, Walter (Judy) Bemke, all of Stevens Point and Edward (Diane) Bemke, Greenfield; and one half-sister, Ann Pieczynski, Michigan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two half-sisters, Sue Grubba and Josephine Bemke; and two infant siblings, Mary and John.

David R. Larson

David Roy Larson, 63, died on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at home after a two-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) .

David was born on Aug. 2, 1946, in Prescott, Wis., to Kermit and Doris (Fiedler) Larson. He graduated from Ellsworth High School before receiving a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He also served in the Navy. While at Stout, David met the love of his life, Sue Schroeder. They were married on Oct. 25, 1969, in Manitowoc, Wis.

David and Sue began their lives together in Milwaukee, Wis., where David taught industrial arts at Pilgrim Park Junior High School in Brookfield. The couple then settled in Stevens Point, where David was a technology education teacher at P.J. Jacobs Junior High School for 31 years before retiring in 2001.

In 1992, David was diagnosed with leukemia and he underwent a bone marrow transplant in 1993. After beating cancer, he helped and mentored other transplant patients. David’s children and grandchildren were a great joy to him. He also loved “putzing” around the house, working on cars and gardening. He took part in a bowling and softball league for many years and coached his sons in Little League and basketball. He and Sue took many wonderful trips together in their retirement, visiting China, Europe, Australia, Japan, Egypt and a special family trip to Hawaii.

David is survived by his wife, Sue; their children, Sven (Terri) Larson of Savannah, Ga., and Dirk (Julie) Larson of Howard, Wis.; their grandchildren, Gavin, Jackson, Oden, Sawyer and Reagan Larson; two brothers, Harlan (Daun) Larson and Roger Larson; one sister, Mary Ann (Steve) Schoen; two aunts, Irene Fiedler and Violet Peterson; three brother-in-laws, Pete (Mary Lynn) Schroeder, Paul (Mary) Schroeder, Bill (Georgene) Schroeder; one sister-in-law Cory (Ron) Weber and many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Kermit and Doris Larson and a grandson, Seymour Larson.

Visitation will be at Shuda Funeral Chapel, 3200 Stanley St., Stevens Point, Wis., from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and noon to time of memorial service at 1 p.m. on Friday at Shuda. The family would like to thank the many family members, friends and neighbors who helped with things large and small during David’s illness. Also, special thanks to the roof volunteers of summer 2009, Thrivent, the Department of Veterans Affairs, St. Michael’s Hospital and Aspirus.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund.

Gale L. West

Gale L. West, 96, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, under the care of Ministry Home Hospice Care at the Stevens Point Care Center.

He was a former Village of Plover President and county board representative. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Plover-Shuda Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Howard Hintzman will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of services Friday all at the funeral home.

Gale was born April 18, 1913 in Lind Center, the first child of Pope and Ethel (Jacklin) West. He attended school in Lind Center and later helped his father delivering milk to residents of Waupaca. As a young man he assisted his uncle Elwyn West in his aircraft business and when could not get his pilots license due to his eyesight, he moved to Dishman, WA. It was there along with his uncle Ben Jacklin and his three sons (Lyle, Owen, and Arden) together formed the Jacklin seed company. Gale entered the United States Army on Feb. 24, 1941 in Spokane, WA. He served his country as a Tec 4 and was involved in many battles and campaigns including: Tunisian, Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe, He earned the European African Middle Eastern Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the American Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 18, 1945 from Ft. Lewis, WA. On November 18, 1946 he married LoRayne Tuttle (Rhodes) and adopted her children, Terry and Brenda. They later divorced. In 1955, he left the Jacklin Seed Company and Washington and returned to Wisconsin. He was involved with construction work and helped build West Dairy milking parlor.

On July 2, 1960 he married Evelyn (Page) Eickendorf and they developed Weslan subdivisions in Plover and Grand Rapids. While residents of Plover: Gale served on numerous boards and committees in which he received many honors and was President of the Village of Plover and also was their county board representative. In later years, they loved to travel in the U.S. and Canada with their motor home. Winters were spent in Florida, Texas, Arizona or California.

Survivors include daughter Brenda (West) Wooldridge, Newberg, OR; three step daughters: Donna Adamski, Plover; Dorene (Jerry) Chojnacki, Whiting; Linda Meronk, Plover; and stepson, Jack (Linda) Eickendorf, Tn of Hull.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Evelyn in 1996, son Terry, and son-in-laws Emil Adamski and Daniel Meronk, step grandson Daren Adamski, three brothers: Arlyn, Merrill, and Clifton. One sister Ida Weller.

Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Plover.

Phillip L. Thorp

Phillip L. Thorp, age 76, of Rosholt, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday December 7, 2009 with family around him.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Friday at the Faith Lutheran Church in Rosholt. The Rev. John Poffinbarger will officiate. Burial will be in Concordia cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9: 30AM until the services on Friday. The Shuda Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.

Phil was born on August 11, l933 in Fairchild, WI, the son of the late Walter & Irene (Shiltz) Thorp. He graduated from Glidden High School and then entered the U.S.Navy on June 10, l954. He served as a gunners mate and was honorable discharged from Norfolk, VA on June 4, l958. He married Lois Pohl on July 3, l959 in Glidden. He worked construction in Milwaukee for thirteen years. He and Lois then owned and operated a hardware store in Hatley and Rosholt until his retirement in 1995. Since retiring Phil & Lois have wintered in south Texas, where they have acquired numerous friends.

His hobbies and interests consist of: woodworking, wood carving, lapidary and gardening. He also loved to pass time playing cards, going for walks and feeding/watching birds. He was a member of the Rosholt American Legion and a very active member of the Rosholt Lions Club. He was part of a committee at Lake Helen in which he had donated experiance and many hours of labor towards organizing and participating in the dredging and restoration of Lake Helen.

Phil is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Lois--one son Greg, of Oshkosh, two daughters Lori (Chuck) Jurcek of Mukwonago and Carrie (Tony) Gryniewski, Rosholt. Four grandchildren Amber, Samantha, Cody & Alyssa. Three sisters-Uneeda Gonia of Ashland. Bridget Gruber of Glidden---Sara Nehlsen of Iola and one brother Roy (Helene) Thorp of Catawba. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Derek and 4 brothers & 4 sisters.

David M. Bronk

David M. Bronk, 48, formerly of Custer, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010, at his home in Wisconsin Rapids.

Funeral services for Dave will be at 7 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010, at the Shuda Funeral Chapel in Stevens Point. The Rev. Doug Monroe will officiate. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.

Dave was born Feb. 7, 1962, in Stevens Point, the son of Carl and Dorothy (Christianson) Bronk. He attended local schools and graduated from S.P.A.S.H. in 1981.

Dave worked at Qualex for a number of years, RPS Shipping in Indiana, Neighborcare Pharmacies, Carpetland in Wisconsin Rapids, and most recently for Service Master in Wisconsin Rapids. Dave played a lot of organized baseball in his youth and was an outstanding pitcher. He enjoyed sports his entire life.

Dave is survived by his brothers and sisters, Jerry Bronk of San Francisco, Dick (Pam) Bronk of Plymouth, Tom Bronk of New York, Mike Bronk of St. Paul, Minn., Charlotte (Tom) Brass of Blaine, Minn., Lois (Jerry) Clinton of Amherst and Bill (Bonnie) Bronk of Custer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Jim.

David Bronk came to know the LORD as a born-again Christian in his mid-twenties through listening to Christian radio. Soon afterward, he began to attend the Greater Point Baptist Church. In 1988, he made the decision to go to Bible college and enrolled at Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point, Ind. While there, he became very active in the college's bus ministry, picking up Chicago area children, teenagers and adults, and taking them to church on Sundays. He graduated in 1997 with a master's degree in pastoral theology, and he moved back to the Stevens Point area. Although he never pastored a church, he frequently preached for churches that were without a pastor or for pastors while they were out of town. As a member of the Pilgrim Baptist Church in Wautoma, he taught adult Sunday school classes, passed out gospel tracts and visited homes, talking to people about the LORD. In this way, he personally saw hundreds of people come to know the LORD as their personal Saviour. He was also an avid supporter of foreign missionaries. In the LORD, he had found what gave meaning to his life, and he was devoted to that cause. He encouraged many Christians to live a life of service to the LORD. Preachers from around the country and missionaries around the world have contacted us to express their condolences at the passing of our dear brother.

Jayne M. Erickson

Jayne M. Erickson, age 52 of 3432 Teton Dr. Stevens Point passed away Friday February 5, 2010 at her home surrounded by family and under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. Services for Jayne will be held at 11: 00 AM Tuesday February 9, 2010 at Woodlands Church in Plover. Rev. Brian Berg will officiate. Visitation will be from 9: 00 AM until the time of services at the church. Shuda Family Funeral Services are assisting the family.

A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in her name for First Choice Pregnancy Center. Jayne was born December 3, 1957 in Neilsville, the daughter of Curtis and Geraldine (Kleist) Kunkel. She moved with her family to Stevens Point as a child and graduated from S.P.A.S.H in 1976. She graduated from the dental assistant program at N.E.T.C. and worked in the area before beginning her career as a real estate broker for the past 25 years. She married Charles "Chuck" Erickson June 14, 1990 in Eau Claire. Jayne enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, music, and singing. She was co-founder and board member for First Choice Pregnancy Center in Stevens Point, and a member of the Central WI Board of Realtors.

Jayne is survived by her husband Chuck; their daughter Megan (Jake) Novak, Kimberly; their son Cale Erickson, Stevens Point. Step daughter Claire (Andrew) Rowe, Sister Bay; Stepson Anders (Angie) Erickson, Chicago; Her parents: Curt and Geraldine Kunkel, Eau Claire. Two sisters: Dianne (Bruce) Koons, Tampa, FL and Susan (Brian) Marcott, Eau Claire. One brother: Todd (Jan) Kunkel, Eau Claire. One grandson Parker Rowe.

Joan Zimmerman

Joan Zimmerman age 87 of 2708 Simonis Street in Stevens Point passed away Tuesday morning at her home under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. Funeral services for Mrs. Zimmerman will be held at Noon Friday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Rev. Rev. George Thayilkuzhithottu MSFS. will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 PM Thursday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel and again Friday from 11: 00 AM to the time of services at the church. The St. Stanislaus Rosary Society will combine with the general rosary to be prayed at 6: 30 PM Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be at the Guardian Angel cemetery.

Joan was born Feb. 8, 1922 in Monett, MO the daughter of Arthur and Rose (White) Sturgis. As a child she moved with her family to St. Paul, MN where she graduated high school and Rasmussen Business College in South St. Paul, MN. She married Henry Zimmerman April 14, 1945 in San Louis Obispo, CA . The moved to the Stevens Point area in 1957. Joan worked at Sentry Insurance for 12 years and also was a bookkeeper for the family owned Westside Market and Westgate Grocery. She was a very active member of St. Stanislaus Parish and attended morning mass with her special friends and afterwards enjoyed breakfast as a group. She was one of the original members for the fund drives of the diocesan cathedral and for Pacelli High School. Joan was a member of the Catholic Foresters, Catholic Daughters, St. Stanislaus Rosary Society, and The Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, traveling, catholic charities, Indian Missions, and volunteering at St. Stans. She was also an active bridge player, along with golfing, bowling, and loved reading and cross-stitch. She always looked forward to spending time at the family cabin up north in Sugar Camp.

Joan is survived by her husband Henry and their children: Dean Zimmerman, Elkhart Lake; Rose Zimmerman (Mike) Ford, St Cloud, MN; Bob (Karen) Zimmerman, Appleton; Hank (Susan) Zimmerman, Franklin. Seven grandchildren: Sue, Chris, Timm (Sarah) , Joseph, Matt, Rachel, Becca. One sister Kathleen (Tosh) Bleckinger, St. Paul, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons; Gregory and Patrick. 2 sisters and one brother.

Donald Thorson

LCDR Donald D. Thorson age 75 of 8055 Cty Road Z in Custer passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home February 1, 2010. Funeral services for Don will be held at 6: 00 pm Monday February 8, 2010 at the Plover- Shuda Family Funeral Home. Dwaine Habrat pastoral minister of St. Stanislaus Parish will officiate. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 5: 00 PM Monday to the time of services at the Plover Funeral Home.

Don was born October 31, 1934 in Black Earth, WI, the son of Russell and Ada (Bollig) Thorson.

He entered the United States Navy January 13, 1953. During his service, Don was a Navy Seal, medical officer, then went into the administration aspect of military where he was utilized in restructuring and running military hospitals and facilities throughout the United States. He fought for our country, a hero and a special forces and war veteran. He earned the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, China Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, Combat Action Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, and Navy Achievement Medal. After living all over the United States, he chose to retire his military career in Glenview, IL., where he was honorably discharged after 27 years of service on August 31, 1980. While in service, Don chose to further his education and through his diligence he received his BA degrees in administration, accounting and engineering. He also earned his master degrees in administration, accounting and nuclear power.

He met the love of his life, Sandy, through her brother, his military buddy. After trying long and hard to get her to at least go out on a date with him, she finally succumbed, they were inseparable. Don married Sandy McBrayne January 12, 1960 in Carson City, Nevada.

After serving his country, he worked in Illinois for a nuclear power plant until they decided what they wanted to do with this new found freedom. He than moved to the Sun Prairie area where he and his wife obtained CDL licensing and started their new adventure as over the road team semi drivers and traveled for 25 years with their home based first in Plover, then built another in Polonia where they eventually retired. During his driving career he had taken breaks from the harsh road and went back to his roots of administration and accounting where he served as business administrator for J & L Transport in Almond and was later, instrumental in the process that helped set up Hospice of Portage County.

Since retirement he greatly enjoyed time spent with his family and friends, laughing & joking, traveling, working and being on his personal computer.

There is not a day Don will not be greatly missed by his family: daughter: Tammy Thorson, Polonia; two sons: Kerry Thorson, San Francisco; David (Lisa) Thorson, Sacramento, CA. his brother Ken (Nancy) Thorson, Tallahassee, FL. Don will also be leaving behind Five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a very special neice and nephews.

His very special Heather Ann (Clifford) Ruland, Stevens Point, WI He loved her as a daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, the only love of his life, his wife Sandy in 2004, and their son Michael in 1995.

Gerald Meyer

Gerald “Gerry” Meyer, age 55 of 4101 Jordan Lane in Stevens Point passed away February 1, 2010 at his home under the care of Ministry Home Hospice and caregiver Inetta Posey.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gerry will be at 10: 30 AM Monday February 8, 2010 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. Rev. John Paul Lobo will officiate. Entombment will be at Forest Hill cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 1: 00 – 5: 00 PM Sunday at the Plover- Shuda Family Funeral Home. Visitation will also be at the church from 9: 30 AM Monday until the time of services. The Knights of Columbus Council # 1170 of which Gerry was a 4th degree knight will pray a rosary for Gerry at 3: 00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial in lieu of flowers will be established in his name for the Portage County Humane Society and Ministry Home Hospice Care.

Gerry was born November 25, 1954 in Chicago the son of Edwin and Marge (Wroblewski) Meyer. After schooling Gerry worked in Chicago and married Linda Palesh on June 17, 1978. The couple moved to Stevens Point in April of 1998. Gerry worked at Johnson Distributing and most recently at the Plover Funeral Home as a funeral assistant. Along with being a 4th degree knight, Gerry was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Divco Club of America, and a former member of the Stevens Point Evening Lions. Gerry was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed “oldies” music, sky diving, photography and hot air ballooning. He loved animals of all kind and Linda and he are the owners of five cats: Peaches, Gibbons, Snickers, Grace, Mercy and one dog Cody.

Gerry is survived by his wife Linda; one sister Judy Dinghofer, St Charles, IL and two nieces: Leah and Janet. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Joyce Kizewski.

Stephen J. Flynn

Stephen J. Flynn age 57 of Stevens Point passed away January 30, 2010 at St. Michaels Hospital. Funeral services for Stephen will be at 11: 00 AM on Friday February 5, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev Al Burkhardt will officiate. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 9: 30 AM Friday until the time of services at the church. Memorials in lieu of flowers are appreciated for his two daughters. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Stephen was born December 5, 1952 in Fulda, MN the son of Gene and Ceil (Schwab) Flynn. As a child he moved with his family to Stevens Point and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1970 . After graduation he worked for American Motors in Kenosha. He then attended Mid-State in Wausau for mechanical design. He returned to the area and began working at Consolidated Paper and retired from Newpage in 2008 .

Stephen married Cynthia Pitcher on December 24, 1992. He enjoyed fishing, hunting with family and friends and camping with his family. Stephen cherished his two daughters.

He is survived by his wife Cynthia, and their two daughters: Darla and Lilah. His mother Ceil Flynn, Thorp. His brother Greg (Barb) Flynn, Stevens Point. Two sisters: Margaret (Dave) Bronk, Stevens Point and Maureen (Dan) Welgos, Thorp. He was preceded in death by his father.
